I genuinely wish I could say something positive about this place other than their decorations and location, is so close to my house. but after multiple visits, I feel increasingly disheartened. Each time I walk in, I hope to be surprised or to find a dish that provides some comfort, but it hasn't happened yet. I've been coming here since they opened last year, and I've even brought my parents here when they visited me, hoping to share a memorable experience. Unfortunately, the inconsistency of the food is truly frustrating. It feels like I'm opening a mystery box every time I visit; I never know what to expect. The recent price hikes have only added to my disappointment, especially since they weren't communicated upfront. I've noticed that the dishes are becoming saltier over time, and instead of the strong spices I was anticipating, I'm left with overly oily meals. I can't help but wonder if they've changed chefs or if something is amiss in the kitchen. Considering that there aren't many Sichuan restaurants around, this is particularly sad. Maybe is my standards are too high, but it seems this place just isn't meeting my expectations. I think I'm finally ready to accept that I won't be returning.

Boboji is absolutely amazing! The flavor was authentic and well balanced. I love the good amount of sesame seeds. Chili oil was so delicious. And the chicken is flavorful, the flavor is not just from the sauce it's from the chicken itself. Absolutely amazing! Good service and very spacious inside. Will definitely go back!

A new Asian spot on the East Side of Providence with a cool, modern vibe. The menu features plenty of great Sichuan options--I tried the mapo tofu, which was delicious with a silky, smooth texture. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, but really enjoyable. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their dishes.

The table we were offered when a free one was available in the back.

Haven't even been served and can't help but feel like we weren't treated fairly. We walked in and the waitress offered this smaller table to my group of three. She did give us the option to look at it but my assumption was that there was going to be a longer wait for a larger table. Especially since a larger crowd walked in behind us. As soon as we were seated, we saw a free table (booth and two seats) behind us. We thought perhaps it was for a reservation or a larger group but then the same waitress seated another group of three that came in behind us to that table. I get it, they were trying to reserve larger tables for larger parties but this just left a sour taste in my mouth. To the left in the photo was a guy who was seated in another booth and two chairs but the rest of his party hadn't even arrived yet. and by the time we ordered still weren't here. He shouldn't have even been seated if the whole party was not here. Update: We are still sitting here since the waitresses are no where to be found. We wanted to order dessert and ask for take out containers but at this point I am considering paying at the counter since it's been about an hour since we've finished eating. It was rather busy throughout our dinner but there didn't seem to be any customers waiting to be seated at any point of time. Management should have an additional person to wait on tables since the two waitresses seemed pretty stressed. Especially since they advertised 50% off today only as part of their Grand Opening promotion, so it should have been expected to have a higher turn-out of customers. Update 2: I went up to the counter and asked for the take out containers and check. She brought the check to the table but after another 10 minutes, I brought it back to the counter to finish the transaction. If I was forced to come here again, I would recommend the Twice Cooked Pork, RC Noodles, Three Pepper Tofu, and maybe the Crab-Roe Tofu. I like the lighting fixtures and furniture they chose for the restaurant.

I've eaten across providence looking for authentic Chinese food and thank God I found this place! Super tasty and authentic plates and you can get it real spicy! The owners are so friendly too! Highly recommend!

grilled fish entree served family style. we added wood ear mushrooms, but the broth comes with napa cabbage.

No wait for 2 on a Saturday around 7 pm and the restaurant was lively. Scallion pancakes and pork buns were both excellent but the grilled fish entree with wood ear mushrooms was beyond incredible. The fish was tender, moist, but still crispy at the edges, and the broth was rich in flavor with a balanced spice and plenty of mala sichuan peppercorn. We picked the bones clean and took the leftover broth to enjoy at home with rice and tofu. Very friendly attentive service and a clean, comfortable atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

They ended up giving us free brownies and free orange juice to make up for their mistake (maybe forgot to put our order in?), but still maybe could've gotten a comp for one of our dishes that we had already ordered instead of new dishes we didn't need. I'm grateful don't get me wrong just.... The food was delicious though. I'm not a huge biscuit person but the biscuit was yummy and flaky which I feel like is different from normal ones? Idk regardless was good and it came with grapefruit jam and butter yum. The hash browns were hands down my fav dish. So oily and crispy and everything a hash brown should be MMMM plus the aioli and cubed presentation. The pancakes were so good and fluffy and GIANT and the whipped butter was yummy on top. The maitake madame was something different but nonetheless good. It was very mustardy but also not too overwhelmingly mustardy and the cheese on top the crispy bread was perfect. All in all the food was superb but the long wait time is what ultimately brought this rating down. The place was also very crowded and lively up until closing, no doubt due to the delicious food

I took off a star because my food wasn't bad but wasn't great. The pancakes were more like crepes- completely flat and not fluffy :( The flavor was good but they just didn't hit the spot! The place gives wacky dinner vibes with some interesting art apparently made by the owner's brother. It was pretty empty when we came in but we had been just looking for a chill place to sit down and each and not just a tiny cafe with no seating. I got the french toast and it was yummy, a nice classic that was very filling and left me with food still on my plate. Not bad, but not the best first impression. We were greeted when we entered and told to sit any where. It was a chilly, twent-something degree, January afternoon during our visit and trust me when I say there is *zero* insulation in those walls. Guests were wearing hats and sweater inside. Do dress warmly if visiting in winter. The menu has lots on offer. We chose a couple of burgers which come with fries or coleslaw or pasta salad or potato salad. So options. I ordered a regular burger which allears to be a premade patty, cooked 'well done'. This is literally a burger on a bun. No mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, etc. Add lettuce & tomato or cheese for a dollar each. Ketchup was brought to the table, but if you want some other condiment, so ask. My companion ordered the southern, aka bacon cheese burge. This also has no condiments so do be sure to specify. Fries are tasty, crispy outside, fluffy inside and delivered hot. The Caeser salad was fresh cut lettuce with a nice amount of mild dressing, crunchy croutons and grated cheese. A very nice side salad portion. The waitress was friendly and capable. Restrooms are updated and clean. Prices reasonable. Standard diner fare and 100% old school diner vibes.

The mushroom omelet was cooked to perfection and served with fresh red-potato home fries and multigrain toast. Coffee was classic diner fare. The massive Rodeo Burger came on a soft roll, topped with cheese, bacon, and onion rings, with a side of perfectly mashed red potatoes that tasted homemade. Our server, Stephanie, was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and clearly someone who enjoys what she does. Her positive energy made the entire experience better.
