Our experience here was fine. We didn't have to wait long for anything which was nice. Service was nice. Food is relatively cheap. I took off a star because my food wasn't bad but wasn't great. The pancakes were more like crepes- completely flat and not fluffy :( The flavor was good but they just didn't hit the spot! I took another whole star off because they don't do substitutions. I don't eat home fries, which is what the pancakes come with, and they said no substitutions for anything else. Disappointing especially if you have a dietary need or strong preferences! read more

This spot was actually really not bad ....solid food at a cheap spot. However, the way they are goo about saying they are essentially gluten free at the door to then sitting us down and mentioning they are gluten friendly but cannot guarantee you wont get sick from gluten was wrong. We were already seated down expecting the latter so my poor friend who is celiac couldn't even eat breakfast and had to get snacks elsewhere in fear the food would mess her up real bad. The place gives wacky dinner vibes with some interesting art apparently made by the owner's brother. It was pretty empty when we came in but we had been just looking for a chill place to sit down and each and not just a tiny cafe with no seating. I got the french toast and it was yummy, a nice classic that was very filling and left me with food still on my plate. Not bad, but not the best first impression. If you have any type of allergies or have celiac I would not recommend it. We've walked past this place many times, but today, after reading some positive Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try. We liked the vibe, it looks like a classic diner venue. We were in the mood for a late brunch and were focused on their all day breakfast items. We selected: * Corned Beef Hash & Eggs $18.49 Two eggs your way, house corned beef, house home fries, and toast. * Ham Benedict $18.49 Two poached eggs atop Portuguese sweet bread smothered with house hollandaise sauce. Served with house home fries. Service was fast and friendly, and in a short time, our food arrived. The Eggs Benedict was really tasty, the eggs perfectly cooked, the hollandaise was nicely viscous with a lemon kick, complimented by a thick slice of ham. It was accompanied by "real" breakfast potatoes, sliced potatoes lightly seasoned and perfectly cooked. I'd order this any time! Next up, the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. The two eggs were nicely prepared, with runny yolks just the way I like them, and the same potatoes as aforementioned, were excellent. That leaves us with the hash, which I wish they left in the kitchen. It was terrible. It looked like some roughly mashed russet potatoes, with tiny bits of corned beef tossed in them. The corned beef was more like the size of bacon bits. It was a dry and unappealing dish, I have no idea what the recipe was going for here. I usually love hash, which is typically a moist and decadent dish. But in this instance I kept thinking, "where's the beef"? That said, the benedict, potatoes, and eggs were all excellent. This place has 5-star food with a very nice, but very slow moving wait staff. My weekday experience was more of a 5, my weekend experience was more of a 2.5 so since the food was worth it I'll give them a 4 even though this is another place that runs out of waffles at 10:30 AM on a Sunday. The chicken and waffles were great, the eggs Benedict, homemade Italian sausage and potatoes were great, the traditional pancake breakfast was great, the biscuits and gravy, not so much. I wish I could give this place a better rating, but unfortunately the food was mediocre and they were significantly understaffed. Our waitress was very kind but it was clear that more staff was needed. Two groups of people who were waiting for a table ended up walking out because of the wait. The food cost and quality were not aligned. I had the chocolate chip pancakes which were just okay and the breakfast potatoes had no flavor. The coffee was bitter and $3.50 a cup. NicoBellla has ample seating and has a diner vibe. The decor is all abstract art which adds a specific flair to the place. The menu is pretty large, and breakfast is served all day. We had a party of 9 come around lunch time, so I do not fault the waitress at all for any minor mistakes. The food I give 3.5 stars to though. The sugar waffle is great, the French fries were good, but the rest was sub par. The burgers were very over cooked and not really "smash" burgers. The garlic aioli needed more garlic.. So instead we went for a walk on Monday morning and eventually stumbled onto NicoBella, and man oh man, were we glad we found our way there. It was GREAT. The interior is a lot bigger than it seems from the outside. It has two dining rooms and a bar. The decor is quite pretty -a sea of black and white checked table cloths, ceramic tile, and lampshades. And the walls were covered with very nice paintings and prints and all sorts of decorations. Hats off to their design team -the place looks great. Our server was Jennie and she was a delight. She seemed to be the only one working the front of the house and she was a whirlwind of friendly, smiling, efficient activity. Our two coffees were excellent ($2.50 each). I ordered a $13 Downtown Wrap and my wife chose a $6 Two Egg Breakfast with toast and hash browns. My Wrap was amazing. Two scrambled eggs, ground sausage, peppers and onions, diced bacon and cheese served with hash browns. I didn't even eat the wrap, I scooped everything out and still had plenty to enjoy. What a feast. Our bill was $27 before tip for a freshly cooked sit down breakfast in a gorgeous and very comfortable restaurant with fantastic service. We stopped in on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast before heading out for our 8 hour drive down south. They had several large tables but was still able to be seated for a party of 4. A very warm atmosphere with a catering service. Our food came out fresh and was delicious. A pleasant experience from service to the food, we now have a go-to spot when we visit the next time. It was a rough experience. Only reason for the three stars is the server genuinely was in a tough spot with the staffing issues. Upon entry to the dining room less than 1/5 occupied she told us she was sorry because she was the only server (looks like there was a new server on her first day as well). We told her we'd wait and totally understand. She told us to sit anywhere we wanted. They watered and coffee'd our table and it took a while for them to take our order. Still, we understand. If I could make a few recommendations- close half the dining room and seat people in a manageable section rather than allow everyone to sit where they want in a large dining room. Once we ordered our food it wasn't long before we got it. My son ordered over easy eggs and they came over broken well done. Breakfast potatoes looks pale steamed. I think there are bigger challenges in the kitchen as well. I saw kitchen staff speaking to someone working at a table and I hope this person wasn't in one of leadership. If he was, then he should've helped. Room was never that busy enough to warrant the cost and quality of product served. Again, my rating is extremely generous and hope if I try them again it is a much better experience. This industry is taking a hit with labor challenges and their situation isn't unique. Waited 40 minutes for breakfast. The food was all wrong and cold. Went to talk to a dude who claimed to be the manager and he said we are the table that it happened to today...... Lucky us as on my daughters birthday. Omelets had whatever they decided to throw inside them and one had meat in it and we have a vegetarian that it was served to. Ordered Swiss and the cheese was definitely not Swiss. Again, they throw whatever they want in an omelet and put it in front of you. Two sodas were flat, chocolate milk warm. Should have known. The "manager" said the server would be the one paying the check out of HER pocket even though she said that they were comping the check. Manager was the one and again said SHE would be paying for it. HIS QUOTE "I AM NOT HERE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY." That was absolutely uncalled for and this 40 year restaurant veteran needs to check his attitude at the door and maybe find a job that is not customer facing. This place is an utter disgrace and I beg you to help shut it down. This type of service is absolutely unacceptable and has no right serving patrons. Server said she was taking care of the check and then when we left her a generous tip and walked out the manager chased us outside and told us we were skipping the check. Are you serious?? We settled the check after they found the right one and checked a fee to use a credit card!! This is a restaurant and it is not posted ANYWHERE on their menu. Is that legal?? Hmm.... It was a Saturday night in October and there seemed to be a live music stage right outside in the street adjacent to NicoBella's. That part was great, the vibe and the music. We unfortunately arrived just as the music was ending and so we headed inside to order some food. It was late, but they confirmed that they were still taking orders. So, we waited and waited. There seemed to be plenty of waitstaff. We understood that they were young and socializing, but we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a menu and then another 20 minutes or so to put in our order. Over the past few years, we have stopped in here several times. The first visit, with friends from out of state, we stopped in on a hot summer day after walking around town, and got ourselves some heaping ice cream cones. We've stopped in for a quick nosh to refuel so we could carry on being tourists as well with other family and friends. PVD has a lot to offer and we love to explore with our out of town guests. Our last visit, I was waiting on someone and decided to stop in here to have a beverage while adding photos to my Yelp page. A nice safe, friendly spot for a woman to wait. Actually, the bartender and I got into so many conversations I didn't have much time for updating. :D They have been remodeling the inside and it is done now. There is a full bar in the back, lots of high top tables in that area as well as the regular low tables. The décor is black/white with red accents and there's a disco ball on the ceiling that looks like a. . . elephant? Not sure, but it's cute and reflects the sun coming in through all those big windows. The staff have always been super friendly and helpful. Their website does not include a menu (from what I can see), but they serve breakfast and lunch Sun-Wed, then stay open through dinner the rest of the week. Close to the Arcade and Financial district, this is a casual, friendly spot to grab a meal or a beverage. read more

I have never been to a place that was this slow for breakfast it wasn't packed and we were there almost 2hrs. I got the egg and cheese sandwich on a crescent and it was good until I got something crunchy with happened more than once I thought it was an egg shell but I'm pretty sure it was random bits of bacon from what ever they cooked before mine. We got most of our food and had to wait like 5 more min for silverware after asking twice. We had a fifth person join us after we had already placed out drink orders which took forever and he was never asked if he wanted a drink. Someone in our party order a side off egg that came out long after all of our plate were cleared. Another person in our group ordered a side of hash and she said it tasted like it had gone bad she only took one bite. Noone ever asked how the food was. Would not recommend we ended up going to a coffee shop after breakfast bc we all were so annoyed and still hungry. read more

For how well-placed and popular this place is, you'd think they'd have more staff. I showed up at noon, place was almost full, but even with expectations firmly tempered it took me about an hour until my food arrived. That's no fault of the serving staff, who were all very friendly and understanding. I had a burger and fries. The first was very decent but the fries were dry and tough, very underwhelming. It's a shame, because I really dig the vibe and the technical parts of the place (menu, bar displays, cleanliness). I don't know if they were much better in the past or if they're constantly refining things, but either way there's plenty of room for improvement. read more

"I'm not here to feed your family" - Staff member This review may be long, but it is well worth reading as I wouldn't want anyone else to endure a similar circumstance as we did while dining here.... We decided to travel to Providence for my birthday, a milestone birthday, and we had asked the hotel we were staying at for breakfast suggestions, they recommended NicoBella's (only option in town). We looked up the menu, and decided it would be a perfect fit for a simple breakfast to start our fun-filled day. Little did we know how our experience would be. We walk into the restaurant and there are a few families, averaging around four people each, sitting down at tables. Not too busy compared to how a breakfast place usually is on a Sunday morning. My group and I, totaling four people including me, were standing at the hostess stand for around 10 minutes. This was very strange as the restaurant was not overly busy, and there was a group of staff socializing at the bar. Finally, a member of my group decided to approach this group and ask for a table. We were told that we would have around a 20 minute wait, which again, was very strange as the restaurant was not very busy. We saw a table and asked to sit there, and the hostess told us she didn't know if another group had reserved the table. A few minutes later, this hostess went over to a big table, and pulled each individual table apart, leaving separate tables. We were seated, and we started to look at the menu. Our server had informed us that they were extremely busy the night before, and they might be sold out of certain menu items. My party and I ordered our drinks which consisted of a water, black coffee, a ginger ale, and a Pepsi. It took a great amount of time, around 10 minutes to receive our drinks, and when we took our first sips, both of the sodas were completely flat. Our server had informed us that it was most likely due to their high volume of customers the night before, so we had ended up ordering an orange juice and chocolate milk...the chocolate milk was served warm... gross. We order. One of the guests in my party wanted to order hashbrowns with her breakfast instead of having the default of home fries, but was told that she had to get the hashbrowns IN ADDITION to the home fries being given to her. Two guests in my party ordered omelets with their desired type of cheese and filling, I ordered scrambled eggs with an English muffin and home fries, and another guest ordered the same thing as me but asked for the eggs scrambled very well, leaving absolutely no egg whites. Usually this specific request for eggs to be scrambled well is not an issue at other places, but it was here. The table next to us ordered a few minutes before us, but it wasn't a drastic difference in time, yet they received their food well before us, while we waited 40 minutes plus for our food. Once again, this place was not very busy, so it was surprising how long our food was taking to come out. Our server was nowhere to be found for at least 30 minutes, so we decided to patiently wait. We received our food, and with each of our first bites, there was something wrong. Both omelets had a variety of vegetables in it, and the wrong cheese options. A quarter of the way through, it was discovered one omelet had sausage in it, which was given to a vegetarian... not pleasant to find out you are in the process of eating something with meat in it if you are vegetarian. My eggs were ice cold, I wish I was exaggerating. I am not one to usually complain about my food temperature at a restaurant, but this was bad. I had a few pieces of potatoes thrown on my plate, and an untoasted, soggy English muffin as well (see picture below). The other guest whom ordered the eggs scrambled very well, ended up receiving eggs with a drastic amount of egg whites. By the way, everyone's meal was ice cold, not just mine. A guest from my party went up and asked for the manager, then was informed that the manager was not in, due to the insanely busy night they had last night. Okay... seems like a lot is affected by the busy night, but why should that make the next morning seem like it doesn't matter? This guest was then referred to this other guy who claimed to have been working there for 40 years. He explained that there will always be one bad table a day, and we just happened to be that table. The server then came over to us and told us she would comp the check, so we left a generous tip because she was nice. We walk out and the guy we talked to before followed us out screaming and causing a scene and asking if we thought we would be able to get out of paying. We told him we were flat out told the check was being comped. He said the check will come out of the servers paycheck if we didn't want to pay... ILLEGAL! If I was a guest eating and heard that I would be extremely uncomfortable. This was not a great start to my birthday and I will never recommend this place to anyone!!! DO NOT GO HERE read more

This is the third time dining at NicoBella's. I should have known better. It was Memorial Day Weekend and the place was fairly busy. We were sat immediately by the owner and waited for a very disorganized serving team to address or take our order. The server finally arrive took our order, which we repeated numerous times. Then we waited and waited as people who came in after us were served. One hour and fifteen minutes later the server came back and ask us what we ordered. We repeated it, clearly she never entered into the POS system. The food was finally delivered and we waited for utensils. She finally brought one fork and three knives. Great new find! Stopped in this morning for breakfast and I am so glad I did. The staff and owners were all great, very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Daniel Deluxe, Biscuit and Gravy, 2 eggs and potatoes. The gravy was outstanding! Biscuits light and fluffy and the potatoes cooked perfectly. The entire meal was fantastic! I went there for breakfast, and while the home fries were a tad undercooked (probably because I get there really early), the omelette was fine. Again, nothing fancy, but still fulfilling.
