    Egg With Tomato Rice Platter

Life is short . F....it up! Family, Flavor, Friends Was going to Providence for the weekend and decided to check out this new place the pictures and the menu look very promising. So the location downstairs is for takeout dumplings because the location in the Brown University area. The second floor was for dining in this is where the hot pot and other cooked items are served . When you go upstairs, does the normal bar of different sauces you can make at any traditional hot pot place. Unfortunately, this place is still has its growing pains and service was very slow. So we decided not to do the hot pot because of the time limit. We the crystal shrimp dumplings and Shumai. They were ok my buddy thought they were frozen ones. Tried the soup dumplings. Found it strange they served it on a bed of lettuce.. and the dumplings were all popped no soup. The pork leek celery pan fried dumplings were promising- decent flavor .. but was served like warm.. we tried all 4 traditional rice dishes. I applaud the the efforts and know what they were trying to do.. home-cooked traditional meals. The chicken scallion was decent, but you really need to serve it with the diced scallion and ginger with oil so it has more salt. The tomato and egg was pretty good. These little more seasoning. The curry was decent. That one was probably my favorite because it taste like something. Your mom would make. The beef stew was OK but just a taste just too much salt. I get the concept, but I would wait to visit this place until they get their act together.

Conveniently located right off of Hope St. in the midst of Brown's campus, this food is delicious and also competitively priced. You can order by kiosk and pay quickly. I got the 12 pork dumplings hence the name and they came out perfectly and I ate them all. Next time I will try them steamed, along with other items on the menu. They have a full restaurant upstairs complete with bar and hot pot ovens at each table. I'll come again. The ambiance could feel a bit cleaner, trendier, but it doesn't take away from the experience for me too much. Still a win.

Most of…read morethe Yelp photos hit the dim sum, but most of the customers in the large room stick to memory lane. The place is divided into two halves: tiny bar and three rows of booths on one side; large tables with chairs on the other side. Combo plates available both at lunch (M-F) and dinner (any time). -- Sticky Sweet Soy Garlic Sauce Wings: Wow-worthy, with the darkest sauce I've ever seen, looking like someone poured Hershey's syrup on them. Characteristics of teriyaki, soy, and garlic, and intense sweetness, but all balanced and very different, and there may even be Hershey's in there afterall. More importantly, quite delicious. The wings themselves were really good too, bringing firm to crispy skins and tender, juicy interiors. The sauce hardens over time, so eat these fast. But you'll want to anyway. Near-elite to elite. -- Rice Noodle with Shrimp: Lackluster compared to other versions I've tried. Noodle not as fresh and slippery. Sauce not as flavorful. Shrimp were good but spaced out. Below average. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a dinner combo): Ping pong sized/shaped balls of chicken instead of the usual fingers, but these were excellent. Very high meat to batter ratio, good crispness to the exterior, and decent tenderness inside. Sauce served in the side. No pineapples or cherries, but good contrasting flavors to the sauce and no glop. Well above average, even without the fruit. -- Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): A mixed bag, this had light grains with pleasant but subtle flavor, long-in-the-tooth dry pork nuggetry, and some onions. Flavorful or not, that rice had freshness, moistness, and bounce. All things considered, a little above average, but with potential for higher. -- Egg Roll (on the combo): Felt limp to the touch but had a delicate crispness to it. Inside, a mix of celery, cabbage, and pork, with decent flavor and a moo shi feel. Not bad. A little above average. Lots of ups and downs here, but a reluctant 4 stars thanks to the brilliance of those wings. I scouted plates on other tables on my way to the restroom and saw similar highs and lows, but more highs. Even if the potential goes unfulfilled (and I have higher hopes for the old school than the dim sim), the wings alone would bring me back.

I have never had a bad meal here, and I always try to be adventurous and try something new each time. With that being said, I always get an order of the Chongqing diced chicken. When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.

In short, if one day you're craving dim sum, the next sushi, or you're with a group where everyone wants something different, this self-proclaimed Pan-Asian place could be your go-to. First, I was thrilled to see so many of my favorite Asian dishes on the menu. There's so much to choose from--dim sum, sushi, clay pot dishes, pho, bento boxes, poke bowls, and more. Talk about menu overload (in a good way)! Second, the place is big. There are two sections to the restaurant, so you can sit far from others if you want, bring a larger group without worry, or easily snag a table even on a regular day. Third, the service is solid. The servers are efficient and helpful when explaining dishes. Fourth, the prices are fair, which is always a win. Now, for the not-so-great: My companion wasn't impressed with the sushi, and a few of the more exciting dishes I ordered didn't quite live up to their potential. That might just be the trade-off for having such a massive, across-the-board menu. Overall, it's still a good spot to check out. I'm impressed with their effort to serve up so many favorites that diners tend to crave.

We ordered vegetable pad thai and were brought chicken pad thai. Granted, we were offered the opportunity to take the chicken pad thai home at no charge, which we accepted. We did not receive fortune cookies at the end of our meal. I still think their wonton soup is the best in town. We ordered the small ($3.50) with extra veggies, which was delicious. The Chinese egg rolls were meh; nothing special. And the pad thai, both the chicken and vegetable, were adequate. Unfortunately, their bathroom could use a thorough cleaning. Yuck. The total cost for 2 soups, 2 egg rolls (1 order) and one pad thai was $25.15, so the price point is reasonable. There is a 3% upcharge for using a credit card.
