I really wanted to like this place. I thought I had found a solid nail salon with great prices, but after my third visit, there definitely won't be a fourth. Unfortunately, whoever my manicurist was needs to be retrained. I genuinely question whether she's even licensed with the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology because she does not know how to properly do nails. She didn't apply polish correctly, and she does not know how to cut cuticles without cutting into them. She kept nipping them too aggressively. I told her I was in pain the first time she did it, and she proceeded to do the exact same thing to another finger. That is completely unacceptable. On top of that, she had me wash my hands in the pedicure tub, which felt unsanitary and just strange. And to make matters worse, the seat next to me (on my left) had a cockroach roaming all over it. I kept looking over to make sure it didn't come near me. It was honestly traumatizing and completely ruined the experience. I'm attaching photos because this was not okay. I got a $27 pedicure. Look at the picture you can see what sub standard work it is. Didn't trim my cuticles everything is uneven didn't finish the Polish didn't cut my cuticles. And use the drill and cut my skin on my big toe with no apology. Never ever go to this place they are not worth your money. read more

This was my go to place just because they were so local. But after consistent disappointment and being rushed through every appointment this will be my last visit. With an appointment, I came in and asked if I could get my pedicure first because I had work to do on my laptop. The front desk said yes, after picking the right color and trying to figure out who could do this design, I was able to work for 5 minutes until being rushed into my manicure with a tickle of a massage for my pedicure. This is when another person came to do a design on my toe that I asked for. The pedicure wasn't actually finished after that. I left with dryfeet and work left to do. Then the manicure.... I've come to this salon 3 times and asked for a specific cat eye, I never leave with what I want and this time will be the last. She didn't use the magnet at all. And I kept asking for the cat eye. I booked an appointment for 2:30 this afternoon. I received a text to confirm my appointment. Only to get there at 2:25 and sit for 35 minutes. I was then told that they were too busy for my appointment. When two other clients walked in and they took both of them. I asked why are they going ahead of me, and I was told that they had a 2:30 appointments. I noted that I had a 2:30 appointment as well and she said that appointment was personal. I'm not sure what that meant, but at that point I got up and left. I then talked to a couple outside of the salon who said they paid $80 for a service that they were not happy with from this place. I would never go back and I would never recommend such a rude and discourteous establishment to anyone! read more

I called ahead to check availability + let them know what I wanted, my estimated ETA and they had a station prepped for both of the services I requested when I arrived - amazing! The space was very clean and on one of my favorite little streets in downtown Long Beach. 2 people serviced me at the same time which cut my service time in half - I really appreciated that. They had a few walks in while I was being serviced + everyone was greeted and set up with a station or added to the list quickly. I have very dry hands so I don't want to blame the nail artist but I did bleed from the filing to shape the acrylics. I do really love how my nails came out and the service was great so it didn't ruin my experience but I may ask for a lighter hand next time. I had gone to this place a few times and always chose Anna because of her precision and I liked how she would shape my nails. However, the last time I went which was Thursday 2/5 I was very disappointed by my experience. I am traveling out of the country and so I wanted something fun but wasn't quite sure. I showed Anna a picture for reference and then told her I would like it similar to the picture but more of a gradient with pink glitter at the tip, then silver glitter then fade to nothing. She said she got it. Then as she was doing it I nicely asked her to make it so there was nothing at the bottom. She rolled her eyes and said that was different than the picture. I said I didn't want it exactly that way and I proceeded to explain the gradient I was going for. She abruptly wiped my nails off and said "you do it then" I was so shocked at how rude she was bc I never had that experience with her. She also slammed down the nail polish bottle on the table in front of me and had a very rude attitude. I proceeded to calmly paint one nail to show her what I meant although I could feel my hand shaking bc of Anna's angry energy. Once I showed her I asked her "why are you so mad?" And she said you showed me the picture and it was different. I am not sure if there was a miscommunication or what? However, regardless, Anna was totally unprofessional and as a paying customer (who always tips her 20%) I think she should be more understanding and respectful especially since I was very respectful the entire time. The fact that she slammed a nail polish bottle in front of me and told me to do it myself was very rude and uncalled for. I would come to this place often because of the convenience but never again. They are too expensive for poor quality. I usually get gel x and it usually last me a long time. I've gotten it and had 2 fills with them. This time all of my nails split down the middle within days. The first two, I came and got them redone. After the next three I call the to tell them and they are like, "Just come fix them". I declined as that is such an inconvenience to go to sit there for an hour + every time a few nails split. They lady on the one told me not to take them off my self, just to have them take the off. I usually go here for regular services, but came here today and I thought it was not so great. I got a great deluxe pedicure with regular polish (Kate), but was not a fan of the manicure. (Shame on me for not saying anything while I was at the shop!) I got a gel manicure done by Tina, but had powder dip before. After she was done putting on the polish, she notified me there is an additional removal fee of $10 to remove the powder dip if I didn't get another powder dip, which I thought was a little shady, especially because I got the powder dip from this same location. I wasn't notified before the service, otherwise I would have gotten a dip again. Additionally, they rang it in as a gel removal, which makes me think that a dip removal was not actually an additional service, and the receptionist asked the tech what to enter on the screen to charge me. Other than the sketchy business practice (my bad for assuming they'd disclose it upfront and for not saying anything when it was mentioned), the manicure itself seemed a little sloppy today. 3 stars because I like this place and the work they've done previously, but wasn't too pleased with the work this past visit - and I'm unable to go back due to a business trip. read more

You get what you pay for! decided to walk-in for a dip manicure and a regular pedicure. The nail tech for my dip did a pretty lackluster job, bumpy surface and uneven nail shaping, and butchered my nail beds by using the electric sanding tool on my cuticles instead of taking the time to remove them before starting (she did it after I asked, and she said "after" the dip was done she'd do it - now there's a visible gap between the dip color and the end of my nails... the pedicure tech seemed to be more attentive to detail, but unfortunately my big toe nails were cut and shaped unevenly - my left one is longer and squared, and my right one is shorter and rounded (they were both the same length when I came in) overall, the price is reflective for what you get: $45 for dip $27 for regular pedicure (came with my fiance and they got a regular manicure - $18) total should be $90, right? wrong was charged $97. idk where the $7 came from, even if it was taxes/credit card fee, $7 extra is steep to charge for all of that. still tipped on top of that, bc courtesy & custom, but not planning on returning. cheap quality, so-so service. points for taking us in as walk-ins, but it wasn't busy at all so I don't see the reason behind a rushed poorly job. read more

Called today to have ONE nail fixed because I trust him with real nails. Alex is gone and "we don't fix one nail. Our policy is to fix all." GOOD BYE. I hate to do this to a small business but I've been here 3x and have been sorely disappointed. I don't know what is going on there, but the technicians don't know what they're doing. My first time was for gels, ok but they seem to damage quickly. The removal was painful. Claire clearly didn't know what she was doing. Again for foot gel removal was ok, but the polish was weird. Professional and very clean shop. Loved my technician. MY FAVORITE PART? The gel manicure. You know how sometimes you get a gel manicure and they don't even soak your hands or trim your cuticles? No massage? Not Phancy. EXCELLENT MANICURE. One week and a day later and my manicure still looks amazing. And they cleaned my nails beautifully. I should have asked for a refund. If you come here stay away from Van. It was an extremely painful experience-she kept slipping with the grinder and hitting my knuckles and cuticles. Same with the nail file. She was so aggressive with the cuticle cutters I kept wincing. And then once she was down it was one of the worst sloppy shaping jobs I have ever gotten. I was really excited to try this place out. Has great reviews and super close to me. Wanted a French manicure and a pedicure. Manicurist kept asking me what color. I kept telling her French manicure, so I guess a soft neutral pinkish color with white tips. Again she asked me what color. Another lady there explained something to her in her language. I asked for rounded nails and they were too square. I asked her for more round. Still too square. I asked for the file and did them myself. The white edge of the French manicure was uneven, so I asked for just a solid neutral link color. The pedicure ended bloody. The woman doing it was in curlers (I know this isn't an office job, but maybe come in looking like you treat your craft seriously). The lady who explained to the manicurist how to do the French manicure took over after I was cut and then gave me a $5 discount on the total. I really had high hopes for this place - started great with a plastic bag in the foot basin, packaged tools, friendly folks. Sadly, will likely not return. I love getting my nails done but was having a hard time finding a steady salon that I could count on. After trying several spots in LB I walked over to Phancy Nails for the first time in November 2022 after getting a poor quality gel nail manicure on 2nd street. That's when I met nail tech Mimi. She took off the thick gel mani I was unhappy with and paid close attention to get the shape right and the natural look I was going for. The next visit I tried a dip mani for the first time and was wowed. After returning for a few months my nails were much healthier and grew longer than ever. The salon expanded their dip powder colors, all NEW so they have plenty of beautiful options. I can also vouch for the pedicures. The salon is basic but clean and comfortable. Small staff so good idea to book ahead of you can but not totally necessary. Clients seamed like a mix of locals and people visiting for work conferences or city events.
