I went to Wax Candy a multiple times last week to get various body waxes and had an amazing experience! I'll start of by saying that I'm very self-conscious about my body hair. Once I got a bikini wax done at a popular waxing salon chain, and the comments made by my esthetician about my amount of body hair made me feel very insecure and almost "dirty". It was incredibly an embarrassing experience for me. For this reason, I'm very picky about where I go to get myself waxed and I do a lot of research beforehand. I was in the Long Beach area for a cruise, and realized the day before that I had forgotten to get my underarms and legs waxed. I tried booking online with Wax Candy but couldn't get an appointment slot so I just called and asked if I could walk in. Wax Candy was very accommodating with the fact that I did a walk-in appointment at the last minute for urgent hair removal for multiple parts of my body. Myisha did my underarms, tummy, and tushy waxes. She was super professional and made me feel comfortable with getting waxed. I really appreciated her not making any comments on my body hair or the fact that I'd literally came in to my appointment almost straight from the airport (so I didn't exactly look the best either). I also worked with Ivy to get my legs waxed. She made me feel really comfortable too and I actually got to learn a lot about the Long Beach area by talking to them both! None of the waxes I got hurt much at all. I was actually really surprised by this, because I get waxed regularly and am used to it being a painful process. Both Myisha and Ivy are very clearly professionals, and it shows in their ability to wax hair so quickly that you barely feel it at all! Overall I had a great experience and if I had to rank all the waxing salons I've been to, this one would be at the top of the list. I honestly wish that all waxing salons and estheticians could be this easy to work with. The studio is near downtown on 3rd and atlantic I was lucky and got parking right in-front.. once inside I was greeted sat less than 2 min and Ivy introduced herself she gave me a privacy for a couple of minutes to undress Then she came in asked if it was my first time I said no .. she used gloves, table was clean, with paper sheets .. she was very good no pain at all we had a convo thru the brazilian .. no residue very clean and used tweezers in a couple of stubborn hairs! But it was great I will be back to this facility The only thing I would change would be a nicer smell of the facility maybe some oil infuser and mop the front to give it a fresh scent Otherwise it was great Thank you read more

It was my first time at Wax Candy and I am very happy I was able to schedule something last minute. I had needed full legs, underarms, and bikini, and they let me know over the phone that they could squeeze me in for only the full legs and underarms, which I was happy to schedule on such short notice. Amy did such a great job and was friendly, accommodating, and detail oriented! She was also very time efficient, so she was able to do everything and more, including the bikini wax that originally we didn't think there would be time for! Amy also did my foot and toes, which surprisingly other places don't always do when you get a full leg wax. Consistent customer here, lovely experiences all way round. It's a good idea to have two go to waxers due to scheduling. First tried Kathy, I always have good conversations with them, really enjoyable experience. Then theirs Jessica if you want a fast job they got you covered, yet to experience others. Also, purchased the ingrown hair spray and it has prevented so many ingrowns and the product lasts a long time 100% worth it. Ive learned that arriving early is important due to parking although you're in and out from the place so you don't have to pay much for public parking. After having limited success with laser hair removal, I decided to book a Brazilian bikini wax in preparation for my upcoming beach vacation. Wax Candy is on Atlantic in downtown Long Beach, so I did not expect luxury, but the place is very spartan. Hard beds, harsh fluorescent lighting, cubicle style rooms with open ceilings. I arrived at 9am, and was greeted by a surly receptionist, and then my very friendly and charismatic waxer. I assumed the position, and we started waxing. Now, I must add, I have a high pain tolerance. I am covered in large tattoos, and have had several surgeries, which I recovered from without needing any painkillers. The first strip was pure hell. My vision blurred and I started sweating profusely. My waxer was empathetic, assuring me that it was totally fine if we stopped. I almost left, but decided to finish what I started. We completed the full Brazilian in 10 minutes, and I can safely say, it was the worst pain I have felt in entire my life. The result? Ingrown hairs galore. I followed the aftercare instructions to a T, but it still looks like mosquitos attacked my pubic area. There were many stray hairs left after my wax-my waxer did not do any tweezing. I found out after the fact that Wax Candy uses soft wax, which is harsher on the skin and more painful in delicate areas than hard wax. I may give waxing another try in the future, once I recover from this experience. read more

I made an appointment for a friend and myself Brazilian wax with Summer. This was my first time getting a wax and I have a very low pain tolerance. Needless to say, I was extremely anxious. Summer was so sweet and made sure to be as gentle as possible. Obviously, it still hurt, but not as bad as I thought and it was over pretty quickly! She definitely has a technique. I noticed she pressed my skin after pulling the wax strip off to help lessen the sting (which was so helpful of her). She's a great conversationalist and very funny! The conversations were a great way to distract myself. She made sure to apply oils afterwards and gave me tips and recommended products for aftercare. I've heard horror stories of first time wax pain, ingrown hair, and itchiness, but I experienced none of this here. I will definitely be back soon! read more

The Long Beach location has a terrible receptionist. I was told the at my 2 services would take 45 mins, I walked in 15 mins late and they told me they could not take me for any services. The receptionist said that it takes 30 for both services mins and that there would not be enough time. First of all, whoever I spoke to clearly had inaccurate information or todays receptions was intentionally not willing to accommodate me. Which tells me that this establishment is not organized. Would it have killed them to let me get 1 service even if I was late? At the end of the day, that still left 15 mins! She was extremely condescending and if this is a representation of wax candy, I want no parts of it, and neither should anyone else. read more

I had been going to a far away place for almost 5 years because that person was fast & the price was right...until I discovered Wax Candy right down the street! I have gone several times now and have had a different lady each time, all who have been incredibly friendly, making you feel comfortable right away and are on point with their technique. They do a pretty amazing job of making waxing painless. The service has been very consistent and you can tell they take real pride in their work! This review is long overdue, but I've been coming here for several years now. It's always such a convenient spot for a last minute appointment. It's as simple as a quick text, and you're all set. You probably have the option to book your appointment online, as well. When I first started coming here, the pricing was at $39 for a Brazilian then it went up a dollar to $40. Soon enough, the price went to $45, but during my most recent visit, it's now at $55. Everyone is super nice and friendly. I've gotten waxed by Shannon, Myisha, and Ivy. They've all been personable and easy going. They also make you feel very comfortable. Clean, efficient, and convenient. They tweeze all the stubborn little hairs for you. Not the fanciest spot, but cute and quaint. They don't double dip sticks. They disinfect and tissue poly sheets for the bed after every customer. There's little envelopes available in the front to properly tip your waxer if you wanted to tip in cash. Card is accepted, as well. They do offer some products for after care if ever you're interested. Because street parking is always a hit or miss here, I would highly suggest coming 15 minutes earlier than your appointment.. I usually park right across the street on a morning or mid-day weekday. read more
