Brought our dog in to get groomed. We have gotten him groomed at the vet but they are not open when I am off work so we decided to take him to PetSmart. He has no history of biting, but being a husky he can be vocal when getting groomed. Due to that, we put a muzzle on him. We were told at the store muzzled dogs cannot be groomed due to "policy". It would be nice to know that BEFORE we arrived.. and have a notice when booking the grooming online that even if the dog is not aggressive to not show up with a muzzle.... Would understand and would not be writing this review if it was posted during booking to not showed up muzzled. Took to Petco with no issues.... read more

I think it is extremely stupid to have the only person at the register be the one to hold the key to the locked cabinet when the line is very long. An employee who isn't working the register should hold the key so the line doesn't get backed up. I don't even know why the feliaway is under lock and key any way. read more

I'm a big fan of their grooming services at this location. The technicians get the job done relatively fast and are all pretty friendly. Whenever I need a last minute bath or nail trim for my pup Molly, I give their grooming salon a call and can usually get her in right away if it's during the week. As far as the store goes, it's pretty standard to the PetSmart brand. This location is also super close to where I live, so that's a plus! read more

Gage at the Southpark Meadows location does an awesome job on Teddy, our labradoodle - this dog is a challenge because he is big and has really long hair, but Gage is a trooper. He takes good care of Teddy and makes him look great. Highly recommend. read more

I come here during early evenings to wait for the CapMetro bus I need to get on. The workers are helpful, but their animals are poorly kept. This PetSmart seems to always be out of large crickets. I stopped by here for an entire week, yet their crickets never came. No matter, I bought the crickets I needed from the PetSmart close to me. But their bird enclosures and shelter cats dwellings need work. I saw a parakeet housed alone in a large cage. Parrots are social birds, so they should always have a companion whether it be a human or another bird. Well the parakeet must not have had human company either because it shuffled toward me as soon as it saw me and put its head down for a scritch. The poor bird also kept biting its feet. If birds bite their feet, then it's a sign that they could possibly have lice or some other parasite sucking out their blood at their feet. Untreated parasites on feet could lead to muscle dystrophy that could prevent the bird from ever perching properly again. Shame on you PetSmart for selling birds with diseases. And shame on you for selling parrots without the proper information resources to provide for any prospective parrot owners. No pamplets, no properly trained employees, and no promise that it came from a respectable breeder. The bird will probably end up being at a ill-prepared household because some brat begged for it without knowing the responsibility of taking care of a parrot. Oh, and the area where the cats housed smell terrible. Y'all sell plenty of cat litter. Would it kill to make the area smell less like cat urine. I get that those are shelter cats, so we should feel guilted into adopting one. But nowhere is it marked that the cats come from a no-kill shelter. Austin Animal Shelter and Pets Alive! Are close to South Austin. Spend your money on shelters that don't kill pets and actually treat their animals if they're diseased or need fixing! read more

This is now 4 times we have tried to come here to get our dog's nails trimmed and the groomers had left early. The posted hours on the front say that the groomers are open until 9. Today we did notice that they have finally put a paper sign on the groomer door saying that walk-in are accepted until 3 and that the groomers were closing at 4:30. But this is posted on the groomer door so you have to come in and walk to the back to find this out. The website says it is open until 9 everyday except Sunday. We will not be back read more

The hours need to be updated on your website to "groomers leave when they have no dogs to groom" The groomers claim to be open till 6 pm online. Then if you go in there Is a chalkboard sign that says "walk ins welcome till 5" If you show up after 4:30 and the groomers decided to leave, then it's your loss. the lights were on, the door was open, the phones were ringing, the banfield hospital next door in the back even said it was open, the front people said it was open. I stood back there for 15 minutes with my mother who had her guide dog with her waiting for a quick nail trim, while a manager comes back and very jumpy was like "well loooks like they left early" I'm sorry but you didn't know? That's silly for a manager to admit they didn't know that a service in their store was closed early and not properly. He then told us "come back tomorrow at 9:30 " and that isn't as easy for some people. My mom is blind and has to wait till family members on their days off can help w errands. She also had work so couldn't just "go back at 9:30 am" when we had a plan for Sunday afternoon due to the open hours online. read more

It's too bad that one employee can drive a customer away. Each time I attempt to buy fish, there is one girl who never greets people nor asks anyone if they need assistance. She sees a customer and she goes into the back room. I have to ask the cashier for assistance. Today I tried to get a small bichir (it was merely about 2 inches). The girl asked me the size of my aquarium and I told her I have a 20 gallon but am gonna upgrade to a 55 gallon. She wouldn't sell it to me. I asked her why if the bichir is very small and I'm upgrading to a 55 gallon tank, and she said she can only sell it to me if I had a 55 gallon tank. Meanwhile, they had a few dead fish in their tanks (not to mention that it was not an exotic animal and it only costs 8 bucks). Go figure. read more

Employees are rude, including their manager. Nobody knows store policies here and all say different things so it's never a smooth experience. Manager doesn't listen to customers and cuts you off when you try to explain what you were told by other employees there. Just cuts you off and moves on instead of helping you. The manager at this location, James, is the worst excuse for a manager. He has terrible customer service. I went in because I left some cat food behind that was purchased from the day before. He disregarded me and had an attitude when he was speaking to me, or the little that he spoke to me. Instead of accommodating a customer and coming up with a solution he had a " ow well sucks for you attitude." So now I paid for something I never got to take him. Definitely will not be coming and I will be sharing this story with family and friends so they won't have a chance to be disregarded by this so called manager. Poor choice for a manager. Is Petsmart trying to run a scam or trick their customer to avail of their in-house Banfield hospital? Multiple times i've bought a prescripted dog food "with my own vet's prescription" at this South Meadow location and each time the cashiers is asking me to either "get a prescription" or a "prescribed number" from Banfield or the next time they won't honor my Vet's prescription?! Why would I avail of Banfield's service when i have my own preferred Vet? Doing this "shady" tactics makes me not want to consider Banfield in my pet dog's future vet service. read more

The reason I gave this place two stars is because the other two employees I came into contact with were very personable. HOWEVER, as a new pet owner of two pups and this being their first ever grooming including haircut, I expected more. The groomer i got, Jill, made no effort to make me feel at ease or my pups. I was a nervous wreck for those two hours it took for her to groom them. When I picked them up they looked horrible!!!!! Patches of hair just looked chopped. Like literally to the skin in places. Scraggly hairs left on their legs, their bellies and their face. She even nicked the ear of one of them, which i get happens when pups move, but she didn't even mention it. When I picked them up she assured me they did so great, no problems at all and she didn't even need to entice them with the peanut butter I had provided I will NEVER do this with them again. I came here because amazon jacked up the rates for the kitty litter brand that I use for my cat. I was in luck as this petsmart had the brand I use and is currently cheaper than amazon. There is parking up front which was perfect as I backed into the spot. This allowed me to easily load my car up with three 40 pound bags (stocking up) with no problem. The employees seem nice here. Only complaint is the aisles are narrow and had to navigate side aisle to get around people. read more

Today I took my yorkie for a scheduled grooming appointment. My dog didn't have the regular yorkie cut. When I brought her she had long hair, after telling the young lady how I wanted her "Trimmed", cleaned up around her face, keep her hair long around her legs, she repeated me as if she was making it clear she understood. She asked how short do I want her body, we decided on a five. When I picked my fur baby up all her hair was gone! She didn't even have hair to make a pony tail. My dog looks like a boy! It takes a Yorkie a long time to grow their hair! I'm so disgusted and furious! I will NEVER take her there again they do whatever the hell they want! This was UNACCEPTABLE! read more

This is the second time my dog comes back from her grooming appt and is shaking and cries if carry her and does not want to move. She is not behaving like her self. Someone needs to make sure that the staff is accountable for hurting or traumatizing our pets. Last time I was offered to go back to the store and speak to the manager, what for?? the damage had been done and it would not had help my pup. I return with another groomer and again!! If I could give zero stars I would. I scheduled an appointment for 9 am for my 6 month old pup. They said if he couldn't take the full groom they'd give him a trim on the paws and eyes at least like last time and a nail trim. They promised he'd be ready in four hours latest IF they full groom was done- sooner if it wasn't. It's 2 pm and I haven't heard ANYTHING back from them so I go back to check if everything's alright, and my pup is on the table with a groomer looking the exact same way I left him- she checks him then puts him back in the cages. I ask what's going on @ the front desk and they said they didn't have time to get him started yet but he'd be ready in an hour. I'm a bit frustrated but I figured one more hour wouldn't hurt. 30 mins later on my drive back home I get a call from the groomers saying he bit them so bad they couldn't possible finish him. My dog was 15 pounds. I walk back in and they have a pitbull with two groomers holding him down to trim his nails, and you're saying my dog bit you so bad it wasn't possible to finish? I go back in and they ask me to pay $45 for a bath and a nail trim they gave him- it would've been $52 for the cut I asked for... my dog looks just the same and I couldn't take him if I didn't pay. I was SO upset. I spent 6 1/2 hours for a horrible bath, his nails were STILL sharp, AND MY DOG GOT FLEAS. I tried contacting them, corporate, emailing- NOTHING. ANYWAYS, my dog got fleas there during his visit to top things off that I HAVENT been able to get rid of. I already took him to the vet where they gave him the pill, booster, cleaned everything. And this is him today. Horrible, horrible experience. Worst part is no one here cares to fix any of it! read more

I had a horrible experience yesterday after picking up my puppy from the groomers.  I picked my puppy,  the groomer handed me him with a loose leash.. I walked out holding him in my arms, thinking maybe I should put on his collar and leash in case he gets excited as we walked to the car... I went back to the groomers,  thinking the door shut behind me only to see my puppy escaped.. I ran through the store calling his name, he then ran out the front doors, thank God he stopped and looked at me & I was able to grab him. I cut myself in the process of grabbing him.. Thinking back, I'm very upset the way this was handled. The fact that I was asked in the beginning to remove his collar and leash because Petsmart is not responsible for them and the fact they gave me my puppy with a loose leash (that fell off before I initially walked out with him) not making sure he is secure and safe, I dont see myself going back. I'm still traumatized about the whole thing.. I would've of been devastated if a car would've hit him...Never again! Petsmart needs to change their rules and accept pets with their collar and leash and put them back on, and hold themselves accountable for making sure our pets are safe when returning to them back to their loved ones! read more

I took my 5 month terrier mix to get groomed for the first time. I originally made his appointment on line but decided to call just to make sure it went through. After calling I was told we had to change our appt because they had too many appts already for that day ..so we did. After we got there my dog was really nervous but D the groomer gave him lots of attention and he quickly forgot I was there and was taken to the back. I was called later that day to come and pick up my dog and he looked great..and was still calm. D was awesome and took her time with him. I will definitely be bringing my Buddy back to her. If Petsmart has to use co's outside of their employment, then they need to AT LEAST GET PEOPLE WHO SPEAK/READ ENGLISH! The delivery person not only couldn't speak a word of English NOR understand it, when he pulled up at the wrong house END of our street and started to UNLOAD while my husband is on phone telling him he is unloading at WRONG HOUSE! I had to go out, walk to the end of the street and DIRECT him with hand gestures to turn around and have him FOLLOW me to MY HOUSE to deliver! How INSANE IS THAT ...the guy can't even MATCH the house number on his paper to the NUMBER CLEARLY PRINTED ON MY MAILBOX!? Then "I" had to walk back and forth to street to grab each of the 25 lb bags of litter from him (FIVE BAGS) because he wasn't bringing it to the door like he is supposed to. I am a Senior mid 60s and hauling FIVE 25lb bags even a short distance isn't easy for me. Also, why the heck are we tipping PETSMART'S RECOMMENDED $7+ tip to someone who can't even do his job!? HIRE PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH AND CAN READ FRIGGING STREET ADDRESSES!....how did this guy even pass a driving test if he can't read NUMBERS for God sake! If I could give zero stars i would! I first I paid for her to just get a bath and when I got her she still had dirt all over her and shampoo build up from not even being washed good. So I called and they told me to come in again, I brought her in for JUST. A bath and they had her there for 4 hours and told me it would be another hour and a half when it only takes an hour and a half for her. When I know they just had her back in a kennel the whole time. And now I got her home and she looks somewhat clean but she Threw up soooo much food bc they must've fed her bc it's not her food and she never has thrown up. My dog is on a STRICT diet from my vet and they just fucked it all up. She's never thrown up before and the must've fed her so much and she's on a eating schedule. I'm never going back. Slightly annoying, but I guess it's popular? The staff are always friendly but they tend to move pretty slow. One employee comes out and tells them "You actually can't be banging on the glass. It scares the dogs." Yes, I know that. Yes, I teach my children not to tap or bang on the glass. Every time I have issues with my fish tank, I come to THIS PetSmart. Specifically, for Charles. He is a fish EXPERT. My roommate and I got a goldfish from a different PetSmart and we were told he could co-exist with my community fish, but this was not the case. We were traumatized when the community fish tried to attack and kill the goldfish and we brought him to this PetSmart and Charles saved his life. Not only has Charles saved multiples lives, he has given me a lot of faith in keeping my fish tank up to par, which I struggle with, surprisingly, every day. Charles is always so happy to see us. He greets us with laughs, rad dance moves and lots of wisdom while maintaining a professional demeanor. I am very thankful to have met Charles and that this PetSmart has employed such a knowledgeable soul. read more

I usually book an appointment but I saw walk-ins welcome so I was like what the hey, I'll just walk in like an entitled Bia bia. LOL! I'm greeted by Louie, a tall dude that looks pretty hip and modern. I'm like hey, Groomer Louie can y'all help my Yorkie out? He looks like the struggle is real this week. I bathed him 2 weeks ago, but he's a lil rough around the edges. Louie tells me he has time, takes in my skittish dog and says he'll call me when Bobo is ready. So I hop in my car and drive back to my house in Buda, start sending an email... I get a phone call. It's Louie. I'm like... oh no, maybe my dog fell off the table or something horrific. LMFAO #worrieddogparentlife No, Louie just called to tell me he's done. I'm like, "Done? Wtheck man, I just got home!" LOL. Apparently he's been grooming for a long time. So I go back to pick up Bobo, thinking. He probably gonna look the same or have a half-a** groom. When I say Bobo looked good. HE LOOKED GOOD. Probably second best groom he's ever received in his entire life of 10-years. (And I get him groomed often.) Bobo is not freaking out or shaking, he's fine! So kudos to Louie for doing a great job, not holding my dog hostage for 10 hours, and having A+ customer service. You the real MVP. read more
