She so happy about her visit
Jennifer T.

my dog likes it there, the people were nice and my Germain Shepherd never looked better, Nail trim took her back two days later for a bath. Bath and de-sheading, glands, ears, feet, the works! Other places can do cheaper, but my dog was happy to be there and was treated very well. I want them to be her people for the next time, When you find a good thing it's worth keeping, She wanted to be there from the time we pull in on the second visit, that speaks volumes! Knowing your pet is worth it. She looks so great with their kind touch and feels happy .

Kevin and his team does an amazing job at Clean Critters! I take my 2 year old Sheepadoodle, June, here every few months and we have never had a bad haircut, which I don't think a lot of Doodle owners can say. They have a helpful chart that shows how short your haircut would be and all of the groomers take really good care of the dogs. Checkout is super easy and they actually bring your dog to your car and process your payment there. Love a good convivence moment. Highly recommend!

I came to Yelp in hopes of finding a great dog groomer in Austin. After noticing that they had a dedicated page to doodles and the positive reviews I decided to trust them with my pup. I am not disappointed at the cut but the amount of abrasions he has all over his body. His nose is raw, he has more abrasions in his ears from the cutting and plucking, his penis has all sorts of damage and so is his anal gland. They do curbside pick ups and ask for a payment prior to returning your pup (you're asked to tip for a service that you haven't seen). This place is overpriced and terrible they don't have set prices but estimates so you're unaware of where you'll be at until the service is completed. These are only a few photos of the body damage on my bud.

Their online presence leaves more to be desired, but the customer service is SO great! Trying to find a groomer during COVID has been a nightmare, but they answered their phone after the second ring and booked my pup for the next day. Really great social distancing practices - the check in and out was smooth as butter and the price point is perfect. They even threw in a free oatmeal wash for being a first time customer. All in all, I paid ~$80 for a full service wash, nail trim, teeth cleaning, and de-shedding, oatmeal bath, etc for my 65lb double-coat lab mix. My dog is usually a scaredy cat but they must have been main-lining treats because he was almost sad to leave. Thanks guys, you have a client for life.

Summer cut

I wanted to like this place, but it's pricey and they made my dog's back look really bald and patchy. His hair is about 2" in length, so they had a lot of hair to work with and now he looks balding. It was $75 + tax ($91 after a 15% tip that I probably shouldn't have given) for my 35 lb dog who they said was easy. I didn't ask for anything fancy. I literally just said shorten it. I miss my old groomer in LA! Back to the drawing board. *edit* oh geez, I keep finding weird bald spots. Another pic added.

I never leave reviews, but so you're aware before you drop $100 - We have taken our dogs (poodle & sheltie) to MANY groomers and I have definitely gotten my fair share of cringy hair cuts (never bad enough to complain). Our sheltie needed a summer hair cut, we specifically said to go as short as possible WITHOUT ruining his hair coat. Also, it's common sense in grooming world to not shave a sheltie (or any dog with a double coat) because it ruins their coat (they get sunburnt). Anyway, they shaved our sheltie and blamed it on us for "not communicating well enough." The owner was quite nasty and condescending. No sense of empathy. Not the type of human I want to give $100 to. If he had acted apologetic and tried in some way to keep our business than this review would have gone a lot different. But judging by other bad reviews on here, his rude behavior is a pattern and I encourage you to spend your money elsewhere. Also, let me add that the owner insisted that he showed my boyfriend a fur chart inside WHEN it was a hands free drop off because of corona. AND he lied to me say he was super insistent with my boyfriend that it would ruin his coat - that DID NOT happen. There were a ton of people coming over to drop their dog in the pen and he moved on to the next person. Again, if the owner was like, "I'm sorry, what can we do to make this better?" I probably wouldn't be writing this. Not a decent human and upset we spent $100 (when quoted $85) for something I could do at home.

Cut by armpit

Took my dog for a summer shave down yesterday and they returned her with nicks in multiple parts of her body and they shaved so close to the skin (much shorter than requested) that her skin has become irritated. Her private part area was also shaved so close she can barely walk without having to stop every few steps to try to soothe the area - everything is red and painful and itchy. This place is way too expensive for results like these. And instead of trying to brush out any knotted areas (my pup has thin hair that gets matted easily) they just fully shaved the areas to avoid having to spend the time, like under her chin- and as a doodle she looks really weird with the unevenly cut face.

Before and after. Feeling so fresh and clean!

While I loved my pup's muppet locks, she was in need of some cleaning up and wanted a fresh Summer haircut. This was my first time going to Clean Critters and it definitely won't be the last. This trip was during COVID-19 and with all the precautions and processes they had in place, I felt safe and knew my dog would be in good hands. My dog is also quite shy but all the staff said she did a great job and I could tell she was looked after and she looks fantastic. She also smells amazing! She definitely got some much-needed pampering! From booking to pick up, the whole process was smooth and I couldn't be happier. Lovely people who also do a great job? That's a win!

So we had both our poodles groomed at clean critters the first time last year 2019 they did an awesome job. Since then I have brought them 2 x's this year, and was not happy with the end result in early 2020. Because of the pandemic i figured that they were struggling and would give them another chance. Well I give photos and instruction specifically which is not difficult. When we picked up our poodles they were basically both shaved definitely the opposite of our request. I feel like they are lazy and do not take the time for proper grooming "I could have done a shave myself and saved $200.00. On top of the extremely bad cuts my Toy poodle has been sick since this visit with a bacteria infection, my other poodle is fine. So before you decide to bring your precious baby make sure you think twice. Below is my baby very sick and working her way back to recovery.

Chewbaka after his haircut.

My family and I have been consistently using Hound for Hound's services 3-5 times a week for the past year, and I must say, Matt has been nothing short of phenomenal. Living in East Austin, we've seen our fair share of unpredictable weather, but Matt's commitment never wavers. Rain or shine, cold or hot - he's there, ensuring our beloved Buca gets his much-needed walks and care. What truly sets Matt apart is his reliability and honesty. He's not just a dog walker; he's become a part of our extended family. This was especially evident during our month-long trip out of the country. Austin faced some serious freeze days, and it was over the Christmas holidays, yet Matt was there, braving the elements to make sure Buca was well looked after. He didn't just walk Buca; he provided him with the love and attention he missed from us. He would would share GPS tracking and pics of Buca daily and to the extent of taking off his gloves in the freeze to snap videos while he was walking him to share with us Hiring Matt from Hound for Hound is a decision you won't regret. He's a true professional who goes above and beyond, not just in his duties, but in his genuine care for the pets he looks after. We are eternally grateful for his services and cannot recommend him enough. If you're seeking someone who will treat your pet with the same love and care as you do, look no further than Matt and Hound for Hound. Thank you Matt, Buca & Conway Family

This review is only based off of my experience/ first impressions and this business may work amazingly for your dog! Once I found Walk ATX it took me a while to get in contact with someone, called a couple times, left a voicemail, sent a couple emails -to no avail! Sent a dm on insta as a last resort and finally got in contact with someone! Yay! Erika helped me set up my account and went over daycare. Dropped my pup off for his first day! First impressions matter to me and as someone who is nervous I would have loved to see them greet my dog. Instead the woman at the front ( not sure her name - mullet - immediately went into a quick " take off the leash. What's his name? You'll get an update at 11" And then I watched her usher him straight to the backyard. No saying hi to the dog, no convo with me, no easing his nerves, no questions about him, no petting him, no introductions, nothing. I didn't love that, especially since it was our first time and it made me much more nervous to drop him off there. Around 11:00 I started to look for updates, none. Tried to call 3 times, no answer. Again this is his first day so not hearing anything on how he was doing and getting no photos - nerves then rose to an all time high. People are allowed to have bad days so will update this after a few more times. Just know the first day is not as informative or warm may not be as warm as you'd expect.

It is difficult to find a doggy boarding/day care that provides such well rounded, holistic approach to pet care. We have used Walk ATX for boarding, day camp with pick up and drop off included, and for in home check ins with walks. As well as their add-ons like baths and fun photoshoots. Mo is a party animal - we are constantly training, working with him and we fill all of his needs. Yet he is an energetic, happy 2.5yo rescue from Austin Pets Alive. He is a foster win actually. He's always soooo excited when he realizes he's about to get dropped off at Walk ATX and he's welcomed with big smiles and a huge "Hi Mo!!!!!" by the passionate and hard working staff. Walk ATX does pack walks, outdoor playtime in their yard with staff assigned to different groups of dogs. I love that there's constant supervision and a structured day. Including rest/down time, which is just as important as to not overstimulate the doggos. It seems as if Walk ATX has only gotten better over the years. They've incorporated training, special add-ons, and cool adventures. Last time Mo stayed with them while we were in Costa Rica, Britton and the team were super attentive (Mo was on limited activity for the first few days per our vet), and even called to give an update, in addition to their daily updates via email and on their app "Time to Pet". I know Mo is cared for and looked after by a group of caring animal lovers.

We attended their open house and were welcomed with open arms by the owner, Anjuli, and the entire staff. We got to see the entire property which our previous daycare would not allow us to do. After their first extended stay here, I can honestly say that in 7 years of having our oldest dog, I have never once felt so at ease and so comfortable leaving our babies somewhere. The staff is so extremely attentive to their unique needs and personalities, and communicates openly with us. The constant social media posts are such a great added bonus, and bring us so much joy seeing how genuinely happy and well cared for our boys are! There is a beautiful outdoor space, complete with pools and splash pads, as well as two indoor spaces for those hot days! The kennels are huge and knowing our 50 and 70lbs dogs can sleep together without being squished into a crate is so comforting. They have room to move around in the same boarding suite, and they have amazing personal touches like cuddle time, delicious pupsicles, treats and training. I cannot recommend Doggie Howser enough times over, I recommend giving them a try and seeing what a difference this facility can make in your dogs happiness and care while you're away!
