I come back and back and back again because the folks at As the Fur Flies treat my babies like they are their own. They are honest and gentle in everything they do and I have never had a bad experience. Love this place.

They are doing excellent work here! Took my fur baby in for a full groom and the appointment started right on time and they were quick, but efficient! She asked how I liked him cut and did exactly what I asked and more. Truly great work and the woman at the front desk was a gem. They were super communicative and even texted me when he was just about done. Never, ever have I ever experienced Ezra being more calm coming out of the groomer. This just tells me they truly care for our pets and did I mention, he smelled AMAZING. The cute Valentine's Day bandana added the best finishing touch. He received compliments all day! We will definitely be back!

The shop is located between a check cashing store and a Cricket Mobile.

I've been following my groomer Jessica for years, from Midtown Board and Groom to Luxe Lodge in Spicewood (and that was A Drive!), so I was very happy to schedule an appointment at As the Fur Flies. First impressions. This shop is in a building that has seen better days -- I think it's been here at least as long as I've lived in Austin (40 years) -- and the whole shopping center could use a face lift. One of my first thoughts, and I realize this is just ridiculous on my part, was to avoid the oil spots on the asphalt after her bath. But then I reminded myself, the building and the parking lot have little bearing on what goes on inside. It's a no frills front desk operation, to be sure, but I peeked around back and it's super cute back there. There was a joyous reunion when April saw Jessica again, and as always, Jessica did an amazing job. I loved what another reviewer said: "Jessica is literally the doodle whisperer"! That is the doggone truth. And about the building, as the saying goes, you can't always judge a book by its cover.

My angel Gizmo that Auntie Rebecca takes care of.

My baby Gizmo (Yorkie) is my world. He is spoiled beyond belief and if you hurt him I will come after you like a mad woman. If you do something he doesn't like, he will scream like you are killing him before growling and biting you. Since he is a Yorkie, he is also very stubborn and ornery, but he is my sweet Angel. Rebecca at As The Fur Flies is the only one who I trust to handle my boy and he adores her. He has actually learned some commands! A spoiled Yorkie learned commands! Crazy! He gets groomed every 2-3 weeks and actually doesn't mind it at all, even looking forward to seeing Auntie Rebecca. Go here. Trust me and my baby.

My sweet puppy Ginger had a great experience! Marbella is her new best friend. This is exactly what I wanted from our first professional grooming experience. Ginger was so happy and wagging her tail. I know she will not shy away from grooming in the future. Some of the reviews mention this is not the least expensive shop, but sometimes you get what you pay for : ) Thank you!!!

Truman pretty dirty before his appointment.

Quick, kind, & well-done. That's all I need! Landen has groomed our small dog (wavy/curly/llasa type hair) twice and done a great job. We usually go fairly short (to stretch time between grooms), but Landen still combs out and styles Truman's face and tail! During Covid they have had an efficient drop off and pick up time system, texting 15 minutes before Truman is done within a 2 hour window. I like that they have a short window instead of the drop off/be done some time today system I've seen other places. Having Truman in and out in less time reduces his anxiety. Lastly, but certainly not least during this budget conscious time, this place is on par or cheaper than any other place I've gone in ATX. Truman is a small dog but needs a lot of hand grooming. His session was $60 inc nails/ears/glands/bath etc. We keep coming back.

    Post grooming happy pup!

The staff is AMAZING with my pup. I have always trimmed his nails myself but got tired of fighting him since he's getting older and they made me feel confident that he would be taken care of. The prices are always really good!

We are new to AUSTIN so it's always scary to try a find a new groomer. Wasabi my poodle mix can grow some hair - meaning - he looks like a mop and can get mats especially around his ears and tail. we have gone to the same place for years after getting HORRIBLE cuts at PetSmart and petco (shaving isn't always the answer and if you're gonna do it, at least do it strategically!) I was a little frustrated looking for a new groomer in Austin. There are like 30 places though. One place said if you pick up your dog and it gets excited when it sees you and pees or poops - then you have to pay extra if you want that cleaned. What? They're dogs lol. Anyway my dog doesn't do this but I thought how odd that it's written in their rules. Needless to say I did not go there nor finish my registration. As the Fur Flies sends you a text (so convenient!) If they have availability and they were able to accept wasabi in a few days from my inquiry. They did an amazing job without butchering his hair. I love they way they did his paws. No mats on his tail but no complete butchered shave job! They were super friendly, affordable, and the service was fast (only a few hours)! Def will be going back!

10/6/23 I just noticed that another Five Star Excellent groomer for my Charlie ..., Jessica...doesn't have any Five star reviews from me on Yelp . I hadn't realized that because Jessica certainly deserves them. Jessica is excellent and loving and compassionate with my senior adopted Charlie dog. He has several chronic problems that cause grooming him to be a huge job. Jessica does great, excellent, 5stars all the 4 times I've brought him. He has an appointment Monday Oct 9 with the awesome Jessica again! She is his expert groomer. She has expertise in giving beautiful and loving grooming to "spicy" dogs. Charlie and I highly recommended Jessica and AsThe Fur Flies on Stassney in South Austin

I brought my doodle in today for a grooming. What he actually got was SKINNED. I am horrified by the wounds your team left on him. The fact that your team did not say one thing about these is awful. When I arrived to pick River up the team, talked about how much his groomer loved him and what a great time he had and how good he was. For me to get home and he is clearly not ok because he was practically skinned alive, he is very solemn, when I sat down with him to cuddle, that's when he winced and I found the spots under his ears. This is absolutely disturbing, horrifying and downright terrible business - along with a slew of other things. Your team should not be allowed to work with dogs and I want to ensure that the individual that hurt River is never allowed to touch another dog again. No owner should have to see the pain in their dogs eyes when they have clearly been hurt. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE.

Ziggy Stardust, one shiny happy dawg.

We're visiting Austin and my German huskey mix was in sore need of a good groom and nail trim. Lauren gave him the works: wash, de-shedding, teeth, nails. He's super shiny and very happy!

Finding a good dog groomer is essential to all good dog parents and I am glad I found this place! I went in a little blind in choosing As The Fur Flies; I don't currently live in Austin but needed to get my dog groomed. Normally I would use friend referrals/word of mouth when picking a groomer but Yelp spoke highly of As The Fur Flies and so I went for it! I felt comfortable from the moment I dropped my dog (Miniature Poodle) off. The staff were very friendly and I really felt that they were actually listening to me when I was describing how I wanted to have my dog cut - we went for the classic puppy it, requesting to keep his hair long on top, but short elsewhere. I left Lucky (my dog) for about an hour and a half and when I picked him up he looked EXACTLY like I wanted him too. He also seemed very happy and relaxed coming out of the grooming which is something I look out for. I am very pleased with my experience here and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a groomer who actually listens and delivers on what you are looking for.

After poor communication with our long term groomer we are so so happy to have found Lauren at As the fur flies! She did an amazing job with our special dood and more importantly she was kind, caring, and super personable. Thank you Lauren!

This is Bodhi and George. When George gets a little bigger I'll be taking him in to be groomed at As the Fur Flies!

Transformative Online Training, Truly Beyond Words!…read more We are so grateful for Allegra and her incredible online training program. We took in two stray dogs who were wild, anxious, and completely untrusting. We weren't sure where to begin and it was chaotic for us, until we found her. Through her online courses and virtual sessions, she helped guide us step by step with patience, wisdom, and a technique that honestly goes beyond words. Even though we never met in person, her presence and deep understanding of animal behavior came through in every interaction. With her support, our dogs have started to trust us, calm down, and settle into their new life. The change has been remarkable. It feels like a miracle to see them open up and begin to feel safe and loved. If you're dealing with fearful or reactive dogs, do not hesitate to work with Allegra. Her approach is compassionate, intuitive, and truly life-changing. Thank you, Allegra, so much!!

A focus on "dog culture" vs "human culture," reading dogs' body language, effectively communicating…read morewith dogs, and shifting the energy between you and your dog gives the Naked Dog's programs a "dog whispering" feel. It's much more wide ranging than training that's only focused on commands like sit/stay/down/etc (though you can work on all of those with the Naked Dog's programs too). Before we signed up for the group training series, I was at my wit's end with our recently adopted dog. He had a lot of behavioral issues, ranging from chewing things in the house, overall excitability, constant attempts to eat pecans and, worse, trash on walks (and often succeeding despite our best efforts & requiring steady doses of probiotics and even a vet visit to induce vomiting), and lunging on leash at dogs and passing vehicles. We also noticed that when we took him to the dog park, he'd play really rambunctiously and generally go 0-60, including running and body checking other dogs (not the best strategy for harmonious playing). The great part about this series is that it's three in-person sessions (we added a fourth for some additional coaching) and the rest is a series of online lessons. This made it easy for us to work through at our own pace. In the online portion, the end of every lesson included video homework that we'd send in and get feedback from one of the Naked Dog trainers -- this was great because it captured us applying these skills in a total real world setting, without the presence of a trainer to coach us or influence our dog to be on his best behavior. Fast forward a couple months, and now we feel confident that we can handle any situation with our dog, including taking him to busy and distracting environments and responding to misbehavior. He's mellowed out so much -- he isn't perfect, but it feels like we've reached an understanding. He went from my problem child to my sidekick. He can walk in a heel, he comes when called, and will wait at the door before we say he can come in. It feels like he's looking to us as leaders and that he's truly settled in as part of our family. We followed the Naked Dog's recommendations for introducing dogs for the first time when we took him over to a friend's house to meet their dogs, and they remarked on what a good dog he is, and that he's better behaved than other dogs they've petsitted, so now we have a worry-free petsitting option. I also now take him by our neighborhood park on walks and let him meet other dogs, which used to be a wild activity full of leash pulling and jumping. The Naked Dog taught us what to look for in reading dogs' behavior so that we can spot polite vs rude behavior and manage their interactions before they start getting too wild, which is a truly priceless part of this training seminar.

We did not have enough time with the trainers to become skilled at reinforcing what our dogs had learned. We did get written instructions and email instructions. But for the price, I thought we would get more thorough training. The owner Lisa is knowledgeable and nice. Austin, her son, answers the phone he is also very nice. Leaving my dogs at their facility was stressful. I was told I would have communication and pictures or videos daily. What they didn't tell me is the pictures our poses and videos that match canned statements, not real communication about my dog and only once daily. I was given the direct phone number of the owner but couldn't reach her until three or four calls were made. I felt upset that I couldn't determine my dogs well-being from the poses and the canned comments that were generic to every dog. It was upsetting waiting for a callback. I couldn't visit my dogs while they were boarded for training and one of the pictures they looked very stressed. So I was upset by the time. I finally got a callback. The owner Lisa was helpful when she called back. I did get more personal interaction from the trainers. After speaking with Lisa. When I had a scheduling issue, she was also accommodating. My issue is when we got our dogs home we were not trained to reinforce what they had learned. We are not trained to get the results we saw when we picked up the dogs from boarding training. Then there are the group classes. They last for six months. I had terrible health problems for two months and could not attend and they will only allow me one month credit even though I offered MD proof that I was sick. I called talked to Austin told him we would be 36 minutes late.. He said no problem come on in, we will take care of you when you arrive. After a 45 minute drive , we arrived and employee Jerry was very rude. Turned us away and said "I don't know what to tell you, class is over why are you here"? I explained what Austin had said, Jerry said again. "I don't know what to tell you class is over" and shrugged. I called Austin back, he said "I don't know what to say, sorry come back next week". Even though we arrived at the exact time, I told Austin we would arrive. I expect better customer service for $6,000. The sales pitch I was given, led me to believe they would be very present knowledgeable, and helpful. that has not consistently been our experience. We attended class today and were pleasantly surprised. Lisa was teaching and it was a good class. We went over the basics of what they had taught our dogs and how to do it at a very basic level. I feel like I should've had today's training and several other training sessions during the time my dogs were being boarded and trained. There would've been more value in boarding them if I was better equipped to deal with them when they got home.

If you're reading this as a frustrated dog parent, look no further for any other trainer/ company…read more Absolutely go with Bark Busters! Amanda, our trainer is a genius. She showed me this video of a mama dog correcting her pups and this is what the leader of the pack (me) does. I'm basically mama grunting at them when they do anything out of line or any thing I want to correct. Amanda is super cool and personable and can show you so many ways to get your dogs in line. There's obviously more to it than just grunting so make you're appointment with this company!!! My dogs are happier dogs! My dogs don't have anxiety and IIIIIIIIII don't have anxiety. I can enjoy my dogs now! It's crazy. It's totally working! No treat or punish training. My Cooper is not fear barking and lunging at people and my other dog Hunny isn't separation anxiety barking outside when she can't see me. It took one water spray and a grunt before she came inside; I closed the door again and she quietly, patiently waited to come in until I let her. Some dogs are a little more stubborn (cooper has been surprisingly) but it's working. Hunny fell in line immediately. My dogs aren't CRAZY! Amanda and I are working on leash training in 2 weeks. Potty/ crate training rn. No more pee pads. This is what I've been needing in my home. Thank you Amanda!
