Due to employees that can't listen, Petsmart has lost me as a customer. I needed to return some cat food that didn't agree with my cat. I didn't have the receipt and when I purchased the food I didn't have a Petsmart reward card. I needed other supplies and would be spending more than I was returning. I explained this to one employee and she repeatedly asked for my receipt or rewards number. She called over a second employee. The second one kept asking for receipt or card number. It was like they couldn't comprehend what I was saying. And we were all speaking the same language. It was very frustrating to be asked the same question over and over. My answer was not going to change no matter how many times they asked. Employees need some training in customer service. Instead of asking the same question over and over how about explaining the company return policy. I walked out. I bought nothing. I drove to Petco to purchase what I needed. And I will continue to do so. The employees need to understand that when customers walk through the door and make purchases, the customers are providing the money for the paychecks they receive. And when the customer has a positive experience they will return. It's called job security. The people at Petco have been very helpful. And even though they are farther away I will shop at Petco. read more

I was here to get some Nutro for my lab Pearl, and I liked the service here for two reasons: 1.) an employee helped me find the last bags of Nutro that were on sale (when the manufacturers change labels, apparently the remaining bags of the previous label version were on Sale for $10 off...Yahoo!!!!), 2.) at checkout, the woman provided me the name of a website that would allow me to take a closer look at dog food formulations. In both instances, these folks went out of their way to help - which was WAY COOL, IMO. Highly recommended!! read more

The store is nice. It's a typical Petsmart, and new. You play the lottery on employee knowledge, though. I went in one day and asked a girl working if they sold anything to rid a fish tank of snails. She said no. That seemed odd, so I asked someone else. He said yes and took me to where the product would be, but they were sold out. They seem to be sold out of fish supplies a lot. Recently I took my dog in for his first shave-down haircut with the groomer. The groomer herself was friendly, though the other girl working back there acted like a lump. The haircut turned out fine, if a little more than I used to pay for the same cut on my old dog ($50 after tax instead of $35) and I was satisfied. The next morning, though, when I got ready to take him out I discovered that his collar was on as TIGHT as it would go. So tight that when I pulled it to undo the buckle he made very distressed choking noises. I have no idea how that girl even managed to get it on him like that, but we definitely won't be seeing that groomer again. read more

The first time we took our Yorkie in for a haircut and it came out great! The second time around we took her for another haircut and it didn't look anywhere near to how it was cut the first time. Not only that but when we got home we noticed her left eye was blood shot red. Obviously it wasn't like that before. The thing that mad us even more furious was that the groomers didn't tell us about the incident. She was clearly poked in the eye by something they were using. Not sure about anyone else but our Yorkie is like our baby. So are very displeased with the situation. I'm sure it had to do with that specific groomer but we won't be taking her here anymore. I have not contacted Petsmart because I'm sure they will come up with endless excuses to why this happened and explain how it wasn't their fault. I have pictures of her eye and won't have any problems posting it up. People I advise you not to bring in your loved ones here. read more

I wish I could give this store and company '0' stars on their customer service practices. I am a very disappointed FORMER customer of Petsmart. I made a close to $35 purchase of cans of dog food yesterday, 5/12/17 and received an email coupon for $10 off a purchase expiring 5/14. So I called to see if they can do a price adjustment for me with the $10 coupon- seeing that my purchase was less than 24 hours ago. Most retailers nowadays are completely aware of the retail industry's standings and are fighting for your dollar- so most retailers nowadays will do anything to please their customers. The associate seemed completely unsure of the company's policies and said they don't normally honor price adjustments. And the only possible way I could go around this, is if I brought in my receipt and the actual product (12 cans of dog food). I asked, can I just bring in the receipt (to enter the info manually like any other company would be equipped to do) and she said no, I have to bring the product in. That is completely ridiculous seeing as my puppy had to eat last night, so 1 can was opened already. Why can't you take the information from my receipt? Petsmart is a lot more convenient to me- but I will drive the 20+ minutes to Petco (because they actually worked to solve an issue with my rewards dollars and overrode it in the computer because they understand that $10 isn't worth losing business over). **REVIEW UPDATE 5/15/17- the store manager, Rebecca stepped up and offered to accept my coupon which was the result I was looking for. This is my go to place for Blue Bison dog food. 46.99 for 30lb bag. Pretty unbelievable. I shop here at least twice a month. It's clean, well stocked, and the staff is pretty helpful. Not to mention my lab puppy likes to crawl under the shelves to the point it looks like i have my leash attached to the bottom shelf. Lol. I brought my 5 pound Maltese to be groomed. The groomer accidentally "nicked" my dog. The nick was 1.25 inch long and required 10 staples, antibiotics, pain medication and a cone! Not only did this cause my dog pain but it is also really frustrating that I now have an injured dog to care for over a holiday weekend! They did not charge me for his haircut and covered the vet bill. The manager said they will cover any additional vet bills, if he needs further care. For customer service I give them a 5 star but for hurting my dog (even though not malicious. What kind of dog mom would I be if not angry. They cut my 14 year old dog) I give them a 1 star. Overall a 3...I guess. read more

I want to give 1.5 stars, but the app wont allow it. I walked in here the other day to get some toys for our new puppy. I wasn't pleased. It seemed everyone was hiding around corners so they didn't have to interact with you. The prices were ridiculous. 12 bucks for a chuck it that's 8 inches long? No thank you, walmart sold it to me for 8 bucks. On top of that when I finally did ask for some help since it's flea season they were completely idiotic and didn't understand the brand I was talking about. Everyone had this face like I was an alien or something. Nope no sir. No. They had to keep going to managers and kept pulling their phones out and asking about different brands and if they were the brand I was looking for after I would describe it as detailed as I could from the colors, to the font of the letters, to what breed of dog was on the box. Oh and if you want a job with them, it's not worth it, I had a friend who applied with them and went through a few interviews, she was extremely qualified to work there, over 3 years pet experience, and 6 years of customer service, then they denied her because of how she was HONEST and admitted that when they drug tested her it come up positive because of how she went to a party the weekend before and got drugs SLIPPED to her in her drink. Yes. Petsmart DRUG TESTS like they are some hot s*** or whatever. I understand they are a big store and have an adoption center, but your better off adopting from austin pets alive or austin animal shelter where it's free and not 45 bucks....you guys can have fun at petsmart. I'll be at Walmart and on amazon getting all the EXACT SAME BRANDS FOR LESS!!!! :). read more

I just came by to check out the after Christmas dog treat sale, and WOW!!! I sure got lucky! I don't think my dogs will want for anything this year :) Their Christmas items are up to 75% off right now and you can get toys, treats and more for your pup. They also have cat treats and toys on sale right now. I may have spent $50 today, but I will not new to buy any dog treats until next year at least. I know my babies (dogs) are going to be soooo happy when I get home today! My kitty has crystals in his urine :( We needed special food to accommodate his new diet, hence, the trip to PetSmart (TM). It turns out that my pet needed a "prescription" for his cat food. Why on earth would you need a prescription for food? "Uh, I have a vitamin C deficiency, can I buy this orange?" "No, you need a prescription." Anyway, I remembered I had the vet bill in the car that documented all the lab tests for my poor incontinented kitty. Holy smokes! This is a MASSIVE pet store! I'm impressed - they have pretty much everything you could want PLUS there are even some cute kittens in a small adoption area who were very alert and interested in interaction with humans. Friendly staff - lots of carts - and good prices. read more

Grooming Center: a long overdue review for Patti. Back in 2011 a friend who has 2 blue merle Aussie's and a Pomeranian referred me to Patti at PetSmart in SPM, and she has been taking caring of my babies since. Not only do I adore Patti, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel loves going to see her too! She consistently does a beautiful job with him and is super-patient trimming my mischievous little Rat Terrier's nails. I highly, highly recommend her for your really furry partners-in-crime. read more

I'd give this place 3.5 stars, but I'll bump it up to a 4. Started going here when I got my puppy last year. We did the puppy classes and the intermediate classes with her, and the trainers were really nice to work with. Our second class only had 2 dogs in it, so it was almost like one-on-one training, but without the high hourly fee (Hint - don't take Saturday classes, do evening classes if your schedule allows). As for the products - the frequent shopper card brings certain items down to regular prices, which is a plus. My dog can go through a bag of Beggin' Strips like nobody's business, but I'll only buy them if there's a discount with the card. Otherwise, I can get them at another big-box retail place much cheaper. They have a good amount of anything you want - toys, beds, treats, food, calendars, pet food dishes, crates, an entire aisle of leashes and collars, and clothes. I'm one of those people who puts my dog in an outfit every now and then, and when I've purchased the wrong size, I've had no issues with returns. I've also been told if I buy a treat that the dog doesn't like, I can bring back the box/bag with receipt and get a refund. Almost gave this place a 3 because of an incident before Halloween. Took my dog to the costume contest last year and it was very well organized, well done, and under control. This year -- different story. Seemed like there should be more staff working the event than there were (2 staff for about 25+ dogs, plus their owners). One dog snapped and started barking at a lot of other dogs (mine included) and people. It was an aggressive dog that would bark at anyone/dog that got within 5 feet of it - which is hard to avoid when everyone is crammed in a little space. Part of me blamed the owners, (if you know your dog is aggressive in public, don't take it out), but I also felt like the staff should have asked the dog and it's owner to either leave or go to another part of the store where there weren't so many small dogs (which made up the vast majority of the dogs). read more

My boy Lucky, is named Lucky because of the look of joy and wonder he usually has on his face. He is a 9-year-old chow/lab mix and has a LOT of fur. To get him groomed is a great investment in saving time for me, and he's been professionally groomed many times -- but only once at this PetSmart, recently. Lucky is best handled gently, so that he is assured no harm is meant -- especially from someone he's never met. I don't know what trauma he may have faced in the first 9-10 months of his life before I met him at an Albuquerque animal shelter, but there are clear signs something went on those nine years ago. The cut did not turn out even close to what was promised, but far worse, the male groomer who handled Lucky told me to be sure to ask for him next time, because he's "the only one strong enough to hold Lucky down." He said he had to call in a second person to help him, and that Lucky tried several times to bite him. He told me I should have warned them Lucky was this way! This behavior for my happy dog is a first for him. I hate to imagine what actually went on if they so boldly revealed they'd had to treat my dog like this. If any groomer can't tell how to treat different personalities of dogs, but resort first to force, I will never let them touch my dog again. read more

This will be my second review for Caitlin since we started using this petsmart. I just want to say that my 95 lb baby can be a handful, and he comes out perfect every time here!! I am so appreciative! She does exactly as I ask, and even gets his paws when I know he's very weird about them. So thank you so much!!!! But for others reading this, I'm very sad to hear groomers typically get like 10% ,if that in tips. Which I know they get a portion of the actual grooming, but seriously people!!! Grooming is an art! I usually get my dog food from the tractor supply company but I was in a hurry today and pets mart was closer. I was able to find everything I needed and I had a few questions about the online promotion for 10% off and the lady helping me was able to take it off even though I wasn't buying online. There was another promotion for $10 off my next bag of dog food but she couldn't figure out a way to get me the coupon, maybe she was new?? Regardless, she still tried really hard to figure it out and was definitely polite and I could tell she really wanted to help. I really appreciated her dedication. read more

I set up an 8AM appointment for grooming on Saturday, and thought everything would be fine. Apparently, they didn't have any of her information in the system anymore, since it had been so long since I last visited. They needed vaccination records, and Banfield - the vet also in the Petsmart - did't open till 9AM. I was told I could reschedule for 4-5PM instead. I left a little disgruntled. However, 45 minutes later I received a call. Apparently, Banfield had opened early and transferred the paperwork. I was able to bring her back in at 9AM. Started off badly, but worked out in the end. read more

I took my 10 lb mini aussiedoodle to get groomed and I got her back shaved to the skin. She had long, curly, fluffy hair. I brush it at least twice a day. She get mats anyway due to her hair being so fine. I've taken her to another groomer several times before and she was always able to gets the mats out of her without shaving her to the skin. I decided to give PetSmart a try because it's down the street from us. When I got there I talked with an employee about the length and told her I did NOT want it too short but I agreed to take it a little shorter because she mentioned some mats around her tail. I also told her I wanted a teddy bear cut. She said she could do it. I got a call later that afternoon saying they had to go shorter because she couldn't get the mats out around her tail and ears. When I go to pick her up her hair was gone all over her entire body. Her hair is so short I can't even pinch it between my fingers. Not only was this the worst cut she's ever had but they charged me $100. read more

Unbelievable.  Spent all morning preparing my pet for his grooming services. It was total failure once I got to Petsmsrt. My appointment was at 8am, I was early and on time. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the staff as they were late arriving. This should be an embarrassment for the employees. If not; then it's apparent that customers don't really matter. Then we were given the excuse that the printer was down. Nice! What is next. Finally after waiting 22 minutes, attention was given to the waiting customers. I was asked if I  had the paperwork for the rabies vaccination for my dog. I told her, that he is wearing his rabies tag. I am then told that she needs the paperwork.  My response; that is not what the website said. It reads proof of rabies vaccination, well all that apparently was not good enough.  Change the wording on your website and train you employees to be more understanding.  I'm done with your company.  A total of 1.5 hours of my life wasted dealing with your company.  Thank you very much. read more

I asked for a Pawdicure Plus for my dog. It's ear cleaning, a trim and grinding nails, brushing the teeth and a spray and bandana. I didn't receive the bandana at all. His ears were barely done as I watched two people barely do them. And on top of it his nails weren't even done properly. I paid for grinding for a reason. Not once did any one in there say he was acting out and they couldn't do it. He is a wiggly dog but they didn't hook him up to the front. And half the nails are cut and the ones that are ground down are still sharp. It's unprofessional to have me pay for things that couldn't be done and didn't tell me at all. read more

Went to this PetSmart about 20 minutes before they closed to pick up some cat food and a new ID tag for my cat. Checked out with the cashier who had a nonchalant demeanor at best, then proceeded to the name tag in graving station. Engraved my tag successfully and hurried out so I wouldn't hold any one up. Got to the gas station across the street and realize I didn't have my wallet. I quickly called the store and told them exactly where I'd been and ask them to check for me at both the register and engraving station, so what she said she would (well talking to her friends/coworkers in the background) and put me on hold for about 20 seconds. She got back on the phone and insured me that they had searched both station thoroughly and found no trays of my wallet. Frantic, I sped back to the store so I can try to get there before they closed, so which I made it back with about 10 minutes remaining. Sure enough, my wallet was sitting right in the middle of the name tag engraving station. Lucky? Yes. Convinced The person I talked to on the phone actually went in searched and somehow didn't see my wallet right in plain sight of the station? No. Well this is the closest pet store to my house I will not be going back ever again because had I took her word for it and not went back and search myself there's no telling what would have really happened to my possessions. read more
