Being a Dog Trainer has its difficulties. If the dog owners never work with the dog, then it is considered the trainer's "fault". The dog should be perfect all the time? Not all the time, but again it determines how much the owners work with their dogs. Reading through the negative reviews for K9 Precision Work it was frustrating to see. As a former trainer, pet owner involvement is a huge factor in training. I worked as a dog trainer for a Franchise Pet Company for about 8 years and then retired. My family recently adopted a puppy from a shelter. I found myself thrust back into the dog training world. I found that dog training methods and views have changed since 2000. While doing a search for training, not wanting to do the Corporate Pet Store Training, I came across Precision K9 Work and met with Jake the owner. We are glad we made this decision. Jake was extremely patient, knowledgeable, encouraging, and willing to spend time with us and our puppy to make sure we got the results we were looking for. Every week our family worked on the homework assigned, wrote down our questions for Jake, viewed the training articles and videos. We made good use of our time when we came to class. I found answers from Jake, about questions that I had about dog behavior/training methods, that the Corporate Pet Store never addressed or educated the trainers about. Jake offered a lot of training articles and videos as a supplement to our training. I would highly recommend Precision K9 Work over any Corporate Pet Store Dog Training. The price is worth the knowledge, time, and experience that you gain to having a well-behaved dog. As the dog owner you need to put in the work, you live with the dog. We will be taking more classes with Jake and have already recommended him to our friends and family for dog training. On a side note, Dogs love having a job to do. Precision K9 Works offers classes on "scent work" and "protection training" that we are looking forward to taking. Overall, we had a fantastic experience with Precision K9 Work, the training knowledge is spot on! Our family and puppy Thank You! We left our sweet one year old Chocolate lab, Rainey with Abby for two weeks. She came back a new dog! She sits, lays, stays on place, walks by our side and is learning to fetch. She now listens to commands. Precision K9 is very professional, attentive and serious about what they do. Abby updated us with progress videos and text messages along the way and Rainey loved her! She was great at training us as well! Highly recommend her!

We started training at home with Nina before our young lab had all his shots. Steady great progress through three lessons. Nina is great with Boomer and his parents. We then boarded-trained him for two weeks while we were at our daughters wedding around 17 weeks age. Amazing progress with all the standard commands, and great leash work. At the six month mark we boarded-trained him with Nina for off leash training. Wow, what a great dog. Comes on recall, much more responsive with all the other commands. Will remain in place without fail for 30-45 minutes while we have dinner. No longer so mouthy, quite the young gentleman dog. I would recommend Precision K9 to anyone wanting a well mannered dog. Nina is just wonderful.

These guys are awesome! Jake and Nina have experience working with working dog breeds and do a great job. They are flexible with your schedule and work with you to make sure you get the most out of your training, and get the end result you are looking for out of your dog. They can help you with anything from puppy imprinting to basic or advanced obedience to even personal protection, or protection dog sports training. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Austin and surrounding areas.

Our pup Li'Li completed a board and train and now continues with daycare and private lessons... and she absolutely LOVES it there. We have tried another board and train and it hardly moved the needle... the key is that Unleashed trains the pup AND me! I needed to learn how to communicate better with Li. Li'Li used to be extremely skittish and afraid of people - particularly men, but thanks to the calm, confident, and compassionate training from Paul, Avery, Abby, and the entire team, she's become more confident, joyful, and open to people. The transformation is remarkable and deeply heartwarming for me as her mom. What sets Unleashed apart is not just their exceptional skill, but their genuine care and positive, no-drama approach. No yelling, no intimidation - just consistent, respectful, effective guidance. It's changed Li'Li's life and mine, too. She loves going back every few days and excited to see the staff and her furry-friends. Their fees are super reasonable, but the results? Truly priceless. I can't thank the Unleashed team enough and I recommend them with all my heart. Thank you for making our family's life significantly better.

This review is about additional services they sub out. Short version, it's completely inept…read more Performative theater. Zero effective training techniques observed. Go elsewhere. TL;DR If their dog training services are as decent as some of the reviews imply, the snake wranglers clearly know nothing about dog training, and why they would allow their brand to be impacted by these subs, I'm not sure what the rationale is. I scheduled two of my dogs for snake training the same day. Neither session was productive. They tried to introduce the dogs to 4 different snake settings in the corral. The first one they approached the snake and shocked the dog. After putting the dog into an excited and unteachable state, they proceeded to drag the dog around the property instead of letting it re-enter a submissive, teachable state. They dragged her around so much so that they yanked the collar off of her neck. Then she proceeded to run around the property. I contained her and brought her back. Then coming back, the snake wranglers were just interested in moving onto the next station they had set up and not concerned about the dog, the dog inputs, or assessing the feedback from the dog. Zero dog skills were demonstrated. My other dog didn't want to follow their leash commands because the snake wranglers weren't skilled with a leash. So they drug my second dog out to the first snake with paws firmly planted on the ground. No training occurred. Just people perfunctorily going through the motions Shock. Repeat dragging the dog. Then when they tired of dragging her, they brought the snake to the dog. She was not even aware. She learned to associate the shock with the wrangler's poor leash skills and perhaps his scent, if anything at all because she was so focused on him and not even aware of the snakes. And she's the hunter we find every night shredding and pulling apart frogs or small field mice (rabbits still too quick for her). She loves to rip apart small prey. We thought she would be the one to bolt and attack once seeing the snakes. Only thing more oblivious to the task at hand were the snake wranglers who didn't know how to focus a dog's attention. If looking for snake aversion training, go elsewhere. The training was perfunctory and pure performance. There was no training. About as effective as them selling you snake oil for your dog's ailments. A better name for this offering would be snake aversion Theater.

Owners were confused and just zapped away without proper training and guidance, I pulled my dog out immediately. If you truly love your dog, and want to learn proper communication, consider positive reinforcement. The only situation I 'maybe' consider this is a pup with aggressive behavior. Otherwise, I would NEVER recommend this type of training. NEVER.

The owner does need to be diligent with taking their dog to the trainings (we kind of fell off at the end but it was okay) but as long as you stick with it, your dog will learn new skills and will be better behaved than before. We can literally walk our dog without a leash now, I never thought that would be possible. She will sit in her place when people come over and we are always getting compliments on how good she is. We can do things in the front yard and have her stay in the garage and she won't run after other dogs that walk by or other other people or children. She has learned to stay in her place for as long as we need her to be. It's funny because she was a really wild dog before and now that she's trained everybody loves her. overall the training here was worth it and we are really happy that we did it!

I reached out to Matt for virtual dog training appointments to help us through that, and his guidance and great wisdom around dog psychology and behavior and deep empathy for Ryder and in general made such a huge impact. I learned from Matt how to help Ryder through his fear and trauma and how to recognize when he was experiencing trauma (for example, he developed a new and strong fear of rumbling engines). By applying Matt's empathetic practices, Ryder has become much less fearful, is no longer afraid of rumbling engines or playing with other dogs and he's back to his old happy, playful, super enthusiastic and friendly self!! :) Matt also greatly helped my dog Ellie through the excessive anxiety that resulted from my marital separation and helped us learn what an impact the breaking of that social bond had on her and how to address it! We now give her the extra attention she needs when doing hand offs to switch between homes. Thank you so much, Matt working with you has made a WORLD of difference in Ryder and Ellie's quality of life!! :)

So I call at 5:22 to see how much longer being that they close at 5:30 and was told they where still backed up and hadn't started on my dogs yet and also they would be done in a while . Ok so I don't care what the excuse is ,I have no clue if the dogs are in cages with water or have been able to use the restroom outside their cages for at least 8 1/2 ho I've avoided places like PetSmart foe this same reason . They say oh your pets just fine we have water and we walk them when in fact they don't leave their cage for like 6 hours straight and don't have water bowls either . Even with water sitting in a cage waiting to be groomed from basically 9:00 am to past 5:30 is insane . At this point I'm within reason of being upset to a certain degree . I get they are behind maybe lack help or whatever but damn if you had too many cuts lined up for one day all you had to say was sorry we are booked and left it at that . I appreciate taking my dogs in but don't understand how a small poodle and Shih Tzu take 9 hours to get groomed . Even with doing one dog an hour which i doubt is the case you'd had to have had 15-18 dogs or more all before them if you had two groomers at the least . Even if you had only 12 dogs before them that's way to much do offer to cut in the time you guys open and close . If it's not then why is taking so long?

After several weeks of drugs and Devi coming and talking at the kitchen table, we found she had been dishonest with my husband. For $130.00 each visit and several weeks, I would have expected some kind of training to go on. All we did was talk and put him on meds. I was told I couldn't tell him "No". We got very little else excecpt throwing kibble near him to distract him. We learned how to avoid him and that was all. He is still out of control at times and so drugged at others we can't wake him up. She wanted me to give him foods he was allergic to. She wanted me to give the drugs on a schedule my vet would not recommend. Then she wanted me to change vets. The last visit we asked for training and she said that would be a 6 month journey. That would have cost me $6000.00+ At my request she showed my husband how to work with problems on a walk in that visit. She then recommended we lock the dog out with a gate. I felt that was not the answer to my problems and told her so. She got upset and quit. For several hundred dollars I would have liked to have learned how to at least tell him "No" and maybe behave on a leash.
