My dog has stayed here several times over the last couple of months and I have been a huge fan. I drive 20-30 minutes out of the way to take him before I leave town, because the peace of mine while I'm away is totally worth it. Yesterday a few things happened out of my control, including a wreck on I-35. I called and spoke to the owner and told her I was running 2-3 minutes past pick-up time, but that I was on my way to pick up my dog. She acknowledged she would see me soon. The wreck slowed me down more than Google had anticipated, so I pulled up to the gate around 1:09 (closes at 1). The gate wouldn't open after a few tries, so I called. No answer. A second phone call and the owner did answer, to inform me that it was "1:12, not 1:02 like you promised, and we don't do late pick-ups." Her tone was far from kind, her words weren't understanding (keep in mind we had just spoken on the phone 20 minutes prior), and worse of all of it -- someone acting cold and unkind had one of the most precious things in the world to me behind a gate, just a few feet away. I had no desire to argue: the last thing I wanted to do was make this person angry (angrier). Outside of the emotions of the situation (surprise, disappointment, hurt, betrayal, fear), did I know my dog was fine? Yes. I took deep breaths and reminded myself that he would be fine constantly the rest of the day. Peace of mind that I drive out of my way for? Shattered. There are so many ways to handle this situation without alarming a pet owner, while still maintaining policies. 1: When I called the first time, you could have warned me that any more than 2 to 3 minutes late and I wouldn't be able to pick up my dog. 2: Someone could have called me at 1:05 to let me know that while they knew I was on my way, they needed to close. 3: If those things were impossible, when I called from outside the gate, you could have been understanding of my disappointment, or sounded human at a bare minimum. I am not advocating to break policies. I am asking to handle things differently. As the keepers of our most precious possessions, your lack of empathy creates the emotional simulation of a hostage situation very quickly. I will not be back (though I get the distinct impression that will not bother you). Your business' email and phone have been blocked. read more

Very Rigid and not easy to work with. Everything is run like an army base for animals. We left our German Shepherd there for a week while in Italy and when we got him back he had a cut above his eye brow which was infected and oozing into his eye. When I picked him up they told me his allergies are really bad and they've been flushing his eyes out. But after being with him for 5 mins I notice the infection which I called them on it and they said he bump into something a few days ago (which might be true as I wasn't there) but why didn't you tell me and treated the infection properly. I expected more way more and wish I was notified that he was hurt and treated properly. See picture he was scratching his eye and nose probably because the infection was burning /Irritating his eye. Would not recommend. After one day of apply Antibiotic ointment to the infection it cleared right up. read more

The boarding is fine but I do not recommend their training program. They tried to tell me our puppy was dangerous and they needed 2 months with her. I feel like this was a try to get more money. We spoke with another dog trainer and have had several sessions with her and it is going great. Romp N Runs trainer was not a good fit for us. They didn't give us any feedback even during the initial evaluation of our dog. Research these places before you sign up. You could do your dog more damage than good. read more

I would love to give less than zero, but the site won't let me. I don't usually write reviews, but this is a special circumstance that their potential customers need to know about. We were clients for over a year with our dog. We adopted a second pup and took her there for an assessment for potential boarding. After about 3 1/2 hours I received a phone call from Derek (the owner) that one of my dogs was missing. She was left outside (some assessment!) and they "think" she jumped the fence. They helped us look for her for about an hour and then pretty much said good luck with finding her. This was INEXCUSABLE to me. If that wasn't bad enough, Jessica (the other owner) told my husband, "you didn't know that dog that well." Somehow they wanted to BLAME THE DOG!!! If your one job is as a doggy daycare and kennel, and you lose a dog..... YOU FAIL! We never got an apology. We never received a phone call to see if we had located her. Luckily our dog was found late that night with no thanks to these people. We will NEVER return after the amount of care and compassion that was shown for a valued member of our family. read more

When I first pulled up to the gate and drove along the winding road to their property I fell in love. This is by far the coolest dog ranch I have ever seen! We were greeted by Oatmeal their pig and even saw they had a pony in the gated area nearby. It's obvious they love animals and what better people to trust your beloved pets with? They require all dogs to be up to date on their shots and vaccinations which I appreciate. They also have you do a trial day of daycare (no charge) to be sure your dog will get along well with the other dogs and isn't in any way aggressive. Once our dogs were approved they gave us a tour of the 2 acre doggy paradise. They have plenty of trees for shade, multiple plastic pools set up with fresh water to drink or to play in, and they keep the dogs on a balanced schedule of play time/indoor time so that they don't overheat and/or over exhaust themselves. The indoor dog area is shaded to block out the sun and keeps the pups nice and cool. What really takes them over the top is the dedication the owners have. They go out and play with the dogs and even take videos as often as they can and post them to Facebook so while you are away you can watch them play. Please remember when coming here to be courteous of their hours. They have normal lives too and while they are kind and will be as flexible for you as they can, you have to give them the same respect since after all this is their home. Our girls love it here and if you have the chance I highly recommend you book with them. Their prices are very fair, you can rest assured they are in good hands, and better yet they will have so much fun they may not even want to be leave by the time you come back! read more

Our dog loves this place!!! He gets excited as soon as we enter the gate as he knows how much fun he is about to have. The staff is very knowledgeable and responsive. Our dog usually falls asleep in the back seat on the way home because he has had so much fun. The place is well cared for and clean. There is plenty of space to play and always some new friends to be made. This isn't one of those SPCA looking boarding facilities where the dogs each get their own small run but rather a lot of land and play space for the dogs to enjoy. The dogs have structured times and activities so they get used to the place very quickly. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. read more

We have been using Romp and Run for nearly a year now. We have 2 very playful Shelties. We primarily use them for daycare on long days, when neither of us can get home to let them out or walk them. Our experience has been superior. Derek (the owner) and his staff have always been friendly and polite. Just this past week, there was a miscommunication (between my husband and I) about who was picking up. When I realized in was in fact me, I hopped in the car to race there by 7pm and called realizing I wouldn't make it. Derek informed me they don't do pick ups after 7pm, and I could get the pups the next day. OK. I agreed to a pick up before 7pm and couldn't make it. I tell my 9 year old: "A rule is a rule." Why should they bend them for me? When we arrive and pull up to the gate, the dogs go nuts. Tucker tries to jump in the front seat thinking that will somehow get him there faster. And when they come home, they pass out. They are so exhausted from playing all day. To date, we are certainly pleased. Your pups will thank you! read more

Such a wonderful place, that is run by fantastic people! We brought our Husky/German Shepard there and when we picked him up they were so welcoming and accommodating in explaining what his day was like. He was so happy when we picked him up and sleepy when we got home which is exactly what we wanted. They are knowledgeable about dog behavior and care for everyone's dogs like they are their own. This is a great place to board your dog, or just to have them socialize for the day. Jessica and Derek are the owners. I sent Jessica an e mail and she responded in minutes. When I took my dog to romp n run, Derek met me when I pulled up. The dogs go directly to a play area with other dogs. My understanding is that the dogs have play time in the morning then they nap for a while and play again in the afternoon. This is much better than places that put your dog in a crate and take them out for a few minutes each day, sometimes charging you for this service. When you pick up your dog, Derek meets you in the parking area and gives you an update on how your dog did. I have to mention what a great facility they have. There is plenty of room, several areas for the different size dogs and of course oatmeal the pig makes himself at home anywhere he wants. read more

They only do "evaulations" 2 days a week for only a few hours each day. Ummmmmm......??? I can't predict I'll be available in a month?!?! We'll never use them again. We arrived at the airport in Austin on a weeknight after a trip and gave advance notice by text message and phone calls that we were on our way to pick-up our dog. We were making good time and expected to make the 7PM closing time but encountered traffic on I35. We called to say we would be a few minutes late and were told that we would have to wait until the next day to get our dog because Derek was about to eat his dinner. After talking to both of the proprietors on the phone and arriving at their gate at exactly 7:04 PM we finally convinced them to let us have our dog. Four minutes has cost them potential life-long customers and the damage that will result from our warning our friends and neighbors to avoid this place. read more

I looked at a lot of places in the area to board my 7# Maltese who had never been boarded. She's not terribly socialized and didn't like being picked up. I couldn't find anywhere I liked. Then Romp and Run was recommended to me. I spoke extensively with Derek who made me very comfortable that my dog would be in good hands. We did a couple of "daycare" days and one overnight shortly before leaving her three nights. I called while on my trip and was given an extensive report - all good. After three nights, Derek said she was much more relaxed and social. I know they were "loving" on her because I could small aftershave/perfume on her - made me feel even better! I know she was given lots of attention and treated as if she was their own. Their organization is professional, extremely caring and I plan to have my dog do more visits even if I'm not out of town, just to get her more socialized. read more

Just needed to post my review of Romp n Run Ranch. My dog was born with congenital birth defects in both eyes causing him to be blind from birth. He goes to Doggy Daycare here and also stays here during our trips. During Christmas vacation we were in New Orleans and our dog was boarded here. We received a call from Derek one evening saying that one of our dogs eyes did not look right. Jess had been washing his face and noticed it. They immediately took him to the Emergency Vet and his eyeball had ruptured. We had been warned that this might happen since he runs into everything. Jess was there until late night/early morning with our dog at the vet, and continued to monitor him and give him his meds until we arrived home. They love all the animals that are in their care and this is truly more than just a business to them. It may take a while for an evaluation, but it is worth it. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have a 10 month old pit mix, and tried to get her in at other daycares and as soon as they found out she had "pit" in her they wouldn't consider trying her out for daycare. Romp and run gives dogs a trial day to experience daycare. Not all dogs may pass the "trial" but they do not discriminate breeds. Derek and Jessica have been nothing but caring since I've trusted them with my baby. The second time I dropped my dog off they remembered her name and even things about myself. They send me updates through the day since she has been having hip problems. This isn't just an income for them it's a passion. I don't have a child, my dog is my child, and Derek and Jessica protect and let my puppy have the time of her life while I'm at work. read more

This place is great! We have used Romp N Run to board our two dogs several times. They get so excited when we go to drop them off and are exhausted when we pick them up from all the fun they had! After boarding them one time, one of my dogs was sick. Derek was very nice spending time with me on the phone to talk about how my dog was acting / what he did while boarded to try and help me narrow down why he wasn't feeling well. Turned out he was just constipated and now we just bring our own food and he is fine every time! Great place! Great owners! Highly recommend. Love the pig that roams the property too. :) read more

I understand Derek and Jessica wanting their personal time and appreciate their set hours and rules, but sometimes the best thing for the pet needs to happen instead of Romp N Run's greed for extra money. I took my dog there over the Christmas holiday for 10 days while we went out of state. Our flight was delayed and we arrived 45 minutes past pickup time of 1:00pm on Saturday. No one would answer the gate or the phone and they didn't even respond until the next morning to say that they were closed for human pickup and we couldn't get our dog until Tuesday. Nothing was posted on their website about being closed, no sign on the gate, etc. Derek called back on Sunday to basically say sorry I wasn't informed about the closing and I'd have to wait until Tuesday. He did not volunteer to tell my young children that his greed for money with three days of extra fees is why we couldn't get our dog back. I completely feel as if they kept my dog hostage and charged me for three extra days unnecessarily. I asked repeatedly when I could pick up my dog (it literally takes five minutes) at their convenience, but Derek said they were closed and I could only pick up on Tuesday at the earliest. If they were closed, how were they taking care of my dog? After being gone ten days it was torture to be home and not have our dog back for three additional days. Before our trip, we also had to take our dog for an evaluation day because we had not been there for more than a year. My dog didn't change so this seemed like a ploy to get more money for no reason. Please spread the word, do not go to RompNRun Ranch. I think Derek and Jessica need to remember the Aggie Code of Honor and do what is right. I feel cheated, out of a lot of money for no reason, and my children and I have been through a gut-wrenching experience while Derek and Jessica kept my dog hostage unnecessarily for three extra days. read more

We love Romp N Run and so does our Caesar! He has a blast every time he goes and we appreciate the fact that we never have to worry about him while we are away. Derek and Jessica are the best and have really helped Caesar to grow into a wonderful dog! When he first began going to RNR, we had recently adopted him and although he was precious and sweet, he needed guidance. Not only did Jessica and Derek welcome him with open arms, but they also have played a huge hand in helping us mold Caesar into a well behaved baby! We love the fact that Caesar is not stuck in a kennel all day at RNR and is allowed to have ample playtime with his friends. We trust RNR 100% with our baby boy and I'd give 10 stars if I could! read more

Wow, I can't believe they lost poor Stephanie's dog! That's terrible. My review is a word of caution to any potential boarding or daycare clients to protect your money and beware that they can, and will, turn your dog away on a moment's notice even if you have a flight taking off or must get to work. We paid the deposit to board our dog the week of Thanksgiving. Six days before flying out of town, our puppy went into heat. We called Romp 'n Run and Derek answered (the owner's husband). We asked if they would still be able to take our girl. Derek indicated that he would have to ask the owner her opinion because, quite frankly, he either never knows the answers or is not allowed to respond directly to customers. Days passed with no response even when we called and messaged to Derek frantically asking for an update because other boarding facilities were sold-out the week of Thanksgiving. Derek finally called back THREE DAYS later to inform us they had decided not to take our dog. He apologized and said that ANY OTHER WEEK they could take her but with the over-crowding of Thanksgiving would not have room to accommodate. I didn't completely understand because they breed German Shepherds on property and have other dogs that go into heat. However, their choice. They left us only three days to find another boarding facility. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I was just informed that they are going to KEEP OUR $120 DEPOSIT. This is unacceptable considering Romp 'n Run Ranch CHOSE not to take our dog for this particular week only, they SENT US AWAY leaving us to scramble to find someone to take our dog before our flight, and they DEMONSTRATED NO LOYALTY to their customer. I recognize not everyone will have the same issue of your dog going into heat but think about all of the other unforeseen circumstances that happen in life where this kennel could deny you services and keep your deposit. As you can see by my profile, I have never submitted a review for anything. I've also never been so disappointed by a company's lack of loyalty and unprofessionalism. Protect your money. read more

I have a dog that was born blind. Although sweet, blind dogs can have all kinds of social and anxiety issues. I wanted to socialize him with other dogs, and Romp N Run stepped up. He LOVES it there. He has learned to play with other dogs and be very confident. Jess and Derek are amazing people and have made Dog Heaven here on Earth. My dog has boarded with them, and they have treated him with such care. I am so thankful we found this place and so is my dog JackMan. read more

I have an aussie puppy that 1, needs socialization and 2 has tons of energy. I have been trying to introduce him to new things and different people and dogs to get him to be a wonderful canine citizen :). Took him for a trial day here and he definitely had a day of exposure to numerous dogs. They had 40 or more dogs on 3 acres to run and play. They were separated into 3 different groups. There are kennels set up in a room inside with fans for nap time. He stayed all day and I got feed back that he did great. Derrick, the owner thought my pup would be worn out by the time we got home but little does he know that my pup is a non stop ball of energy. I would say most dogs would be worn out after a day of all day play. I think mine is just that rare exception. Derrick seemed like he really enjoys what he does and I appreciate the trial day to see if both dog and daycare are a good match for eachother. I will be returning a least a few times a month just keep my pup on his toes. Btw, they also have miniature horses which my daughter enjoyed petting. Very friendly and serene environment. read more
