I can not say enough good things about A Crate Escape. The moment we walked through the door the front staff and trainer greeted us kindly and were eager to help. I have a 1 year old medium sized mutt who lives up to his name Hooligan. I've never struggled so much training a dog in my life. I was getting ready to pull my hair out. I was really beginning to think about rehoming him. I took a leap of faith and decided to try the board and train program or as I call it Desi's boot camp. If you're anything like me pets are family. I missed him from day two (let's be honest day one was relaxing). I had such peace of mind knowing A Crate Escape is owned and operated by a veterinarian and her family. My favorite thing was at the end of each day I would get a doggie report card. These report cards are AMAZING! They put me at ease knowing Holligan was having the time of his life and being well taken care of. I never knew his tongue could stick out so far. I would receive pictures of him running and playing daily. They would tell me who his doggie playmates were and I'd also get updates and videos on how Hooligan's training was progressing. I was getting ready to give up on Hooligan but after two weeks with Desi he's a brand new dog. I will continue to follow up with doggie day care and a few group training sessions but A Crate Escape has made my life so much easier and I'm so happy Hooligan gets to rejoin me and my other dogs at home. read more

We left our nine-month-old Great Pyrenees for what we thought was going to be only 2 weeks, but the remodel of the house took just under a month. I got regular updates, and my dog looked happy. When I pick them up you look very happy and healthy I was relieved because he was boarded for so long. Only two things caught my attention, but not enough to think it was a problem. We tried to visit our dog in the middle of his stay, but they told us that it would confuse and excite him, and it would be difficult for him to settle down again because he would think he's going home. It makes sense, but we really missed our dog and wanted to see him. The other thing was that we paid for a bath before we picked them up. I'm not sure if they did a poor job of a bath, or if they bathed him at all, because he had a powerful kennel smell, but then again, he could have picked that up after he got bathed. I have never left her anywhere bc there was no overnight staff but at this facility there is someone there overnight. I suppose I need to lower my bar for customer service. I brought my dog in for grooming as a first-time customer and was told to have him there by 9:00 a.m.; I showed up at 8:30. The groomer came out and took the leash and just walked him back. No hello, nothing. I asked the front desk and they said the groomer would call me. Two hours later, I got tired of waiting and I called them. I spoke to the groomer at length about the grooming I wanted. She said he would be done around 2:00-3:00 p.m. Later that day at 4:30, I had a couple of errands to run, so I figured I would run those and then surely by 5:00ish, they would be done. I stopped by and was told it would be another hour. Okay, that's fine. I'll go run another couple of errands while I'm in the area. I called again at 6:30 and was told it would be another 20 min. Finally at 7:20 (50 min later) I received a call that he is ready. Now that you have the story, here are my complaints: 1) It would be very helpful to inform a first-time customer that the groomer will call you 2) It would also be helpful to inform that your dog may not be groomed until the last dog of the day, which could be almost 7:30 p.m. I was informed it would be 2:00-3:00. 3) I had a lengthy conversation with the groomer about how I did not want my dog's legs to be cut with the shape of his leg, but instead to look like one straight column, but the groomer still cut it with the shape of the leg. 4) The front desk receptionist had no concern about my issues. I was simply an annoyance to her. 5) The facility over-booked the groomer which meant my dog's cut was rushed and poorly done (probably same for other dogs). Possible solution for management (no sarcasm, only trying to help): 1) Do not schedule more appointments than the groomer can handle without rushing. This only creates stress for the groomer and for the dogs. It also means that you may end up with unhappy customers like me, and subsequently, the staff are forced to listen to that, when it all could have been avoided. 2) Have the dogs arrive in intervals. Review the schedule for each day and have certain dogs arrive in the morning and the remaining dogs can come mid-day. Or some variant of that solution. This would prevent dogs from sitting in a kennel all day, and it removes some responsibility from your staff for having to water them and take them outside as much. 3) Provide better training to your staff on how to appease unhappy customers. I honestly felt as if she couldn't care less about my experience. I understand that she may not have been in a position to do anything about it, but she could be at least a little apologetic (not just words, but also her demeanor) and inform unhappy customers like me that she will provide this feedback to the manager to improve the experience. 4) Provide better training to the staff on what information should be given to customers. Perhaps not everyone is knowledgeable about the process at your facility. Neglected is a form of abuse (read before making a reservation) We dropped off our two dogs, Buddy and Flint, at A Crate Escape (ACE) on April 18th picked them up on the 22nd as soon as they opened in the morning. They both have been to ACE a few times for half-day doggy daycare without any issues. During their recent boarding, Flint was injured and after interacting with the staff afterwards we will not be using ACE again. The pictures are in descending order- from recent to previous days. I spoke to four employees and they were helpful in answering my questions but during my recent conversation with the manager he seemed defensive and calculated in what he said. We were told many conflicting stories on what had happen and on what they are supposed to do concerning notification when a pet gets an injury. The manager, Tom, told me it was just a "little scuff" on the top of Flint's muzzle. It was infuriating to hear that this injury was considered just a little scuff. All the staff blamed Flint for the injury. "He wouldn't stop rubbing his nose against the fence." As you can see in the photos, it took some time for it to become this bad. They have neglected to adequately and judiciously care for Flint's well being. Chelsea, as I said in the email. I think you are missing the point. I never said anything about the boys not having a good time or that precautions are implemented Your staff, in this instance, failed in taking responsibility of Flint's well being. This was not an accident. This was an injury that worsened over 2-3 days. The initial injury is understandable. He caused an abrasion by putting his nose in the fence chain link. Once the injury was noticed, measures should have been implemented to prevent him from doing it repeatedly over the next 1-2 days to minimize the extent of damage to the top of his muzzle. Instead, it got worse over the next 2 days. This issue could have been prevented. When Flint was picked up on Friday morning the wound was raw and seeping blood. read more

This review is for the Grooming side of their business. It is unfortunate to inform you that I will no longer be going here to get my Doodles groomed after being a loyal customer for almost 5 years due to how I was treated from their administrative side. We helped this place out by advertising and promoting their business when they first opened and was shocked in how a "long-term customer" was treated today. I had an appointment to get my dog groomed today and was running late due to an accident that was unforeseen, which caused major delays on the highway so I decided to call and just give a "courtesy notification" that we were running a few minutes behind schedule due to an accident on the road. Instead of hearing "No problem, we'll see you soon!" the groomer had the audacity to tell me that she will have to charge me a Late Fee and my dog will be put to the last slot of the line and picked up much later in the evening. I was furious hearing this and if I was going to pay a late fee, then keep my dog's current spot or don't charge me a late fee and I would have been fine on picking up my dog later since it is understandable that my dog came in a few minutes later. Historically, I was given a 2-hour window to drop off my dog whenever he is scheduled for his grooming and their policies must have changed recently without me knowing it; nevertheless, I called to give a courtesy call and what baffles me the most is that my dog would have ended up being only 15 minutes late from our agreed drop-off time. Needless to say, my relationship with this establishment has been terminated and could have easily been prevented with a little compassion. Advise to Owner: Train your staff to treat your customers with some respect and have empathy on unforeseen circumstances that may arise, especially if your customers are communicating with you in advance. read more

I have never in my life written a negative review for a business, but the service we received was so egregiously dishonest and negligent that I feel compelled to now. Only giving one star because it is required. A bit of important information about our dogs: we have two. One of them is a senior dog, and she sustained an injury on her leg a couple years ago that she is sensitive about. She is very insecure around other dogs and will attack if she feels threatened. This has actually happened between our dogs, so for their safety and happiness, we keep them separate from one another. It is for this reason that we reserved two spaces for our dogs with A Crate Escape - so that each dog would have their own space. We also left explicit instructions with them at the time of boarding for our dogs not to be together at any time, and for our senior dog to not be around any other dogs, either -- without us there to make her feel safe, it simply was an unnecessary risk to both our dog and everyone else's. We were told this was understood and was no problem, and as our own vet had recommended A Crate Escape to us, we felt confident. When we received our dogs' first report cards, however, the pictures showed them playing outside together. We were immediately concerned and called; there was no answer, so we left a voicemail, reminding them how important it was not to to let the dogs be together and asking for someone to call us as soon as was possible. We did not receive a call back, and in the next day's report card pictures, the dogs were once again together. We called again, with no answer, so this time we also emailed our concerns and asked again for some contact - a call, a text, or an email would be fine. This pattern continued and received no communication at all until we received a voicemail right before our flight home saying "Please call us about Lily and Maddy". When we arrived at the airport, we were finally able to talk to someone who informed us that the dogs had been in a space together and had fought. Our younger dog had sustained injuries to her face, and our older dog to her legs -- hers were serious enough that she was still with a vet for additional care. We were incredibly upset to hear this and asked why our instructions had been ignored and no one had followed up on our attempts to contact them. The people at A Crate Escape refused to take any responsibility. They claimed we had provided no instructions at the time of boarding and that they had received no communications from us. I'm a teacher and have heard every excuse, but this is ridiculous - to claim that none of our communications made it through, when we have clear documentation of them on our end - is absurd. Further, the dogs had been medicated per our instructions, so clearly, instructions had been left. They were also unable to explain why the dogs were sharing one space when we had reserved two. We were paying $1,000 for our dogs to have their own spaces, and had this fight not happened, we may not have known they were being kept together. I can't help but notice what a nice profit that would make for someone there, and as they have offered no explanation for this, I feel confident that their intention was simply to charge us for services we did not receive -- stealing our money, in addition to endangering our dogs. Both of our dogs are now home and we hope they will recover fully from this incident. It is heartbreaking and frustrating because it was so avoidable. Had the employees of A Crate Escape provided us with what we paid for, it would not have happened. They were grossly negligent of the safety of our dogs; they were unable to follow instructions; and they were unwilling to communicate with us. I do not feel A Crate Escape can be trusted with the safety of animals, nor can they be trusted to actually provide the services they've been paid for. They are negligent and dishonest. I cannot recommend them to anyone, and would instead encourage pet owners to look elsewhere. read more

I adopted a senior poodle and needed a groomer. I took her to Crate Escape and was very pleased with everyone there and the grooming my poodle received. The price was also reasonable. I took off one star for the lack of communication. I was told I would get an email and never did. I left a voice mail asking what time I should drop her off and never heard back. When the grooming was complete I didn't get a call saying she was ready, I had to call them. Now that I know what to expect the second visit should go smoother. read more

After getting a new puppy we enquired to our vet on the best places to try daycare and boarding to allow our dog to socialize and have a safe place to stay while we are out of town as we have no family in the area. They suggested A Crate Escape in Round Rock. After trying three different places, we stuck with A Crate Escape and have been sending our puppy there 2-3 times per week for daycare and have had him stay overnight roughly 20 days as of him turning 10 months old. I can attest that he has more fun and comes home more tired and content from spending a day at A Crate Escape versus the other centers we tried: Pet Paradise and Camp Bow Wow, both of which were fine, they just didn't provide the perks or behavior benefits that we see from A Crate Escape. Regarding grooming, we have had nail trims and baths administered periodically and are satisfied with those results. (Our dog has short hair and will not need a hair cut) It is nice from a customer experience to walk in the door and the front desk already radio back that "brownie" is here, which makes the experience feel like we are family. Our dog shakes with excitement at the mention of going to play with friends. We will continue to use A Crate Escape with pleasure! read more

I saw a Facebook event post about this place and inquired. Brought my dogs in the next day for a"free" temperament testing. We walked in and we were greeted the moment we stepped in. The reception area is spacious where you can have multiple dogs waiting without them in each other's space. We did all our paperwork online, a plus that this place is up to date with the latest software for doggie daycare's. We found out that the owner is a Veterinarian and that was a super plus for me. They also have a certified trainer on staff and a couple of groomers. We got a tour of the facility. The facility is clean and has lots of room for the dogs to romp around and the space to wonder when they want to be alone for quiet time. The boarding and kennel area is a nice sized area. When we picked up the boys, we got a full report from Desi, she has so much knowledge about dog's behaviors and explained their interactions with all the kiddos on the block and how they enforced positive behavior. The boys were so calm and happy when they got in the car. Two days later, we brought one of our high energy boys back and he was excited to be there. It's easy to make reservations online and they will contact your vet to obtain your pets records. read more

This place is amazing!! I don't know where to start. They took care of our dog, Buddy, for boarding for years. This last year, Buddy was 14 and needed medication for his senior illnesses. We had to make a few trips and A Crate Escape took care of Buddy with their medical boarding services. The staff always met us at the check-in with at least 3 people to verify his medications, go through instructions needed for his daily care, and to make the drop-off seamless. I am very impressed with A Crate Escape and their business manager, Scott Martin. We were suggested to try this kennel by our vet when our usual place was full. I had been disappointed by our first visit due to lack of communication. I emailed my frustration and Scott invited me to give them another chance. What a difference! I received fantastic daily emails with notes, pictures and sometimes video of my dog. I could see that she was being well taken care of and that she was enjoying it! So happy that they were willing to listen to my concerns and change their process to make it better! Shout out to Desiree and Jill!!I'm in love with this place! It is so clean and welcoming. I felt completely safe in there regarding Covid as well. Spaced lines on the floor to keep everyone at a safe distance and masks are required. I called to book an appt with Desiree. Jill the receptionist was so kind and helpful, immediately felt at ease with her on the phone. It can be stressful leaving your fur baby at a new place. But Jill was informative and made me feel like my pup would be in good hands. Lets talk about Desiree. A little background info regarding my pup. She's an older gal and has a pretty sensitive demeanor. New spaces worry her, loud noises scare her, unsure of new people, will visibly shake when she doesnt feel comfortable. Not agressive, but very aware of her surroundings. Anyways, I checked in and soon after Desiree came out to greet us. Super sweet and professional. I had a few questions and she answered them with confidence. Asked me about treat allergies, which a appreciated since my pup does have an allergy. When I came back to pick her up she was so happy!!! My pup literally had a smile on her face. Not to mention she looked amazing. Coat like silk, nails did, beautiful teeth, not shedding a lot like usual, smelt amazing. She also had a festive Halloween bandanna on! Which are all amazing, but what I loved the most was how happy my pup was and how comfortable she felt around Desiree. These folks saved my life...In the middle of a move my apartment complex failed to get my apartment ready as promised and I had to be out of my old one....I have 3 cats and could not find an extended stay that would take multiple cats. I brought my kitties to Crate Escape for 19 nights and they took such good care of them. The daily report cards helped put me at ease. Everyone there is awesome. I've been using this place for my pet for the last six months and have been completely satisfied until now. They were courteous enough to call me I had of time before the holidays so let me know that they get booked easily. So I specifically set an appointment for Saturday only to find out three days before they called me to cancel my dogs appointment! Now they are completely booked and can't even get my pet in. They don't have cameras to watch your dog all the time but they do send a daily report via email with pictures so you are updated of your dog's boarding experience.
