We just picked up our dog from grooming and they cut all of her hair off. We ask for a trim and a teddy bear face. The groomer said she knew what a teddy bear cut was so we trusted her. She looks horrible!! We used to go weekly to this store for food, treats, etc. We will never go back! read more

I like this Petco, as they always seem to have what I need for my nasty old dog and cat, and the staff seems knowledgeable and helpful. I have not done grooming here, so I can't speak to that review, but I do buy dog food here, and the prices seem fine, comparatively. read more

The Petco store at 1500 N Town E Blvd in Mesquite Texas runs-off customers routinely, that store is horribly managed. Again today same routine as many times during the past couple of years: This time it was 5/6/2021 Thurs 5:05 pm I waited in fish area for 20 minutes after I had to frequently flag down store employees asking them to please get someone to net fish I want to buy. But then all the employees in that store each still stood around register doing nothing & not many customers were in the store. Employees there at that time included 2 girls & 1 guy, despite 20 minutes of my asking to please net fish, they each continued walking away into breakroom after each paging to please net fish. After 20 minutes waiting despite almost no customers in the store, frustrated I left. I walked by those 3 lazy employees near the register & I said "20 minutes waiting, I guess you're closed!" Then the male employee there said "it wasnt 20 minutes, it was more time than that". I left the store almost empty of customers, just lazy employees. That incident is COMMON ROUTINE AT THIS PETCO STORE. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My husband and I just left after coming in to look at their ferrets. We were in the store for about 10 minutes before an employee walked past. This woman (I assume the manager) starts walking past and I ask to see the ferrets. After asking if we would be buying one tonight (to which we said no - because we would probably come back in the next few days once we find one we want) she says "no not tonight" and walks off. I could understand if we had shown up ten minutes before close, but we got there at 7:15 pm and they don't close until 9pm. No wonder those ferrets (4) are full grown and still haven't found families. read more

Warning...*****beyond upset. Called right after open for a grooming appt and was told 11am was available. Dropped off 15 min early was told it would be 2-3 hours your normal time. Requested 3 main things I wanted done. Came by around the 3 hour mark and wasn't ready said it would be a little longer. 2 hours later I have to call and ask for update and was told to come back. As soon as she brought my dog to the front I noticed 1. Nails weren't cut 2. Noticed no hair trim/cut wasn't done 3. My dog is still wet and shedding all hair that was JUST brushed while she was bringing him to the front. She said let me get right on it I forgot, next thing you know my dogs weeping while she grinds his nails. Honestly I'd give a huge 0 starts bc this experience was the crappiest I've ever had not to mention the amount of F bombs that were dropped in the 5 minute convo dropping my dog off. I used come here every month for the same thing and ever since Amanda left it's been down hill. Quick to refund the amount but can't seem to get it correct without having to do so...thanks for paying attention to what the customer needs and their furry pets I most definitely won't be returning. read more

I've been bringing my dog here for the last 4 years to get groomed. Today I took her to get groomed here and it will be the last time I ever take her here. She has always had a tough time getting her nails trimmed but the Petco groomers have always been able to get them done. Today, a new employee Maggie was not able to trim or buff her nails and used the excuse that my dog tried to bite her. I just find it ridiculous that you work as a groomer and you can't even trim a dogs nails. I am very disappointed with the service we received today. My dog was only scheduled for a nail trim/buff, a bath and a teeth cleaning. When I dropped her off I was told they didn't have the supplies for the teeth cleaning, and then they failed to do her nails. So basically my dog sat in a kennel for 4 hours just for a bath, I could've done myself. The whole point I took her was to get her nails done. I've noticed that all of the old groomers don't work there anymore and they have new employees. On top of that, it seems as though business has slowed down a lot for them, and now I can see why. Take my advice, and just take your pup somewhere else. You won't get your moneys worth here, and you won't be happy with the service either. read more

Worst pet store ever. On multiple occasions we tried to buy a couple 15 cent goldfish here and were denied because we didn't have a 20 gallon tank!! Yet they put hundreds of fish all together in a little tank. Ridiculous! Also, there were only two people working in the whole store and they both need customer service training. Try Pet Land off coit and george bush, much better staffing and customer service, and they will actually sell their goldfish. read more

I drove 15+ mins to this location to get my rabbit some food that he needs for his age. I came home & opened the bag to find bugs all over it! Luckily my rabbit didn't like the smell of it & didn't bother to try it at all. Definitely won't be shopping there again! read more

This particular Petco is managed by a man named Joe who is horrible and has now overcharged me!! I went to this location because I received a coupon in the mail. At check out the clerk Amber rung me up without the coupon even after I asked her to apply it. She then said she "refunded" my purchase and re-rung me up with the coupon. I get home with my purchases and realize she did not bag my dog cookies. I call the store and the speak to the manager Joe. I ask him to just refund the amount of the dog cookies and he says "no I can't do that. Just come back and pick them up." Seriously?! I drove a distance to come there and he has the dog cookies at the check-out?! Then I tell him great I will come and get them the next time I'm in the area? He's fine with this and thinks he's succeeded in helping me. I'm so angry at this point but let it go. A few days go by and I see that there are 2 charges from Petco? I call the store and Joe "the manager" tells me "No it's not a double charge we refunded it." I'm looking at my posted transactions and tell him that no they are in fact the totals of both charges excluding my refund. He argues and I end up telling him whatever I'll dispute it with my bank. He's ok with that and thinks again he's doing a great job. I call my bank and dispute the charge. Today I get a chargeback notice because this thief manager has sent a copy of both receipts without the refund to my bank?!!!! So now I have to waste my time and drive to my bank with my receipts because this guy is an incompetent thief and a liar! So angry I will never come here again!! They have little to no expertise with the majority of things they sell and could care less if a customer is dissatisfied. Try KV vet online it's cheaper. read more

Great customer service. Came in trying to figure out why my dog won't fetch. Spoke to Lynn, the trainer. Very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing products. She also noticed behaviors in my dog I'd not clued into myself. Very enjoyable and educational experience. I buy my dog food here and I've always found them incredibly helpful. I have a skinny cabinet in my kitchen that is barely wide enough for a bag of dog food. I told a salesman here that I'd rather have a canister but the space was too skinny, and they found a locking canister that fit perfectly. read more

I recently had an experience with the manager at the Petco store at 15th street and Alma in Plano, TX. His name is Kyle and I am completely dissatisfied with how we treated my father. My father is a 75 year old man who had a question about which harness to buy to help our dog walk better. Kyle not only talked down to my father as if he was a 10 year old boy who knew nothing, but also called him an irresponsible dog owner because we were inquiring about the chains. Kyle also tried to push his opinion on us saying that even though "his store" carried the chains, it was NOT fine to use on a dog and that we would be "irresponsible dog owners" if we bought it. I tried to tell him we had already used the harness he had suggested, but our dog ate it. Again, he proceeded to tell us that it was our fault he ate it and that we would be "irresponsible dog owners" and punishing our dog if we used the chain. At this point, my father was tired of his character being attacked when all we asked for was which harness to buy and not to hear we were bad dog owners. Yes, my father got angry when he started being attacked and started to become difficult, but who wouldn't when the MANAGER is saying all these disrespectful things to you in front of your family. Kyle then tried to kick my father out of "his store". I would hope that Petco managers have been trained in how to deal with difficult customers and it would not be by arguing with the customer and attacking his character. I do not believe Kyle should be fired, but he should be demoted to work on his managerial skills a little bit more. I am very disappointed with Petco and will not be returning there because of Kyle. If these are the type of people Petco is hiring AND making their managers, then Petco is not the type of company I want to support. read more
