We recently got our Cocker Spaniel puppy Morgan and needed to find a reliable and local Groomer and we were referred to Lakeside Pet Spa by a friend. Their website is super easy to navigate and it lists all of their services and information. Since Morgan was only a few Months old we booked the Bath and Tidy service which includes a bath with premium shampoo and conditioner, a brush out, nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning. When Morgan was finished she looked so pretty and clean and she was also happy! We can't say enough good things about the staff there also and they are great about sending reminders about upcoming Appointments and they also send a text message to let us know when Morgan was ready for pick up. We have taken our dog here 4 times (?). The most recent time 5/4/22 we were charged an additional $"15 for a misbehavior fee". Our dog is 12 years old and has never, once, at any kennel or groomer been told he misbehaved. In fact it has always been glowing reviews for his behavior. He's generally playful and very friendly. We were not called about this. Just added on a $15 charge at checkout. This is very strange to me as we are not new patrons. We will not return. read more

Unfortunately I have to downgrade my review to 3 stars. Today the groomer (who's groomed my dog a couple times before) totally shaved my poodle mix. I said I wanted her basically the same length as she was but less scruffy. I get it's loud in there but if you didn't hear me, please confirm before shaving my dog bald. At the end he said he had to "update the notes" to reflect what I wanted. Wondering what the notes said from the past 4-5 times they've been groomed before. In addition she has what looks like razor burn on her tummy and came home panting and then chugged a whole bowl of water, I'm guessing from stress. She's been groomed upwards of 30 times at multiple salons and is typically pretty laid back. read more

First of all they do a very nice job of grooming my little poodle, Buddy. My only issue is the amount of time they keep my dog! 4-5 hours? (This was my last visit January 30, 2024) I asked why? They explained that after washing and towel drying they put my little dog inside a kennel to air-dry, sounds cold. One of the employees also explained that the long period of time was due to the volume of dogs they were booking for a particular groomer. My response was "well this why I booked my appointments in advance and at a certain time" when I visit my doctor, my dentist or even Discount Tire, I don't have to spend half my day wondering when they're going to text me saying my dog is finished and ready for pickup. And BTW if you're not here within the next hour we will charge you a boarding fee! I made sure that I was close by and not involved with any other activities. The girl told me if I wanted my dog attended to in a timely fashion it would cost an extra $20? Well I wasn't happy about that. Just letting the interweb of people know what to expect. I've taken my doggie, Toby, here since he was a pup and have stayed a loyal customer for the past four and a half years. I have always gotten Ms. Kay to cut his hair, but I was told by the receptionist the last time I took him in that Ms. Kay had retired and the owners had changed. I'm very protective of my dogs, so I was hesitant to bring him in and have someone else that was not Ms. Kay cut his hair, but he had been coming here his entire life and it was what he was used to, so I decided to bring him in. Fast forward to his appt. We waited several hours to get a call to pick him up. It was about time they closed, so we called and they said he still needed more time. I was worried so I went ahead and drove in to pick him up. I saw two groomers still working on my dog and another dog. I waited by the window for about 10-15 min as he was finishing, just observing. Suddenly, I hear Toby screaming and shrieking. He has never done this! It was a terrible sound to hear. It was hard to see exactly what was happening since the window is a good distance from the grooming area, but I did notice the groomer being quite rough with his legs and no dog mom ever wants to hear their baby cry. I ran inside at this point and anxiously asked if he was ok, trying to figure out what the issue was. The other groomer nonchalantly says he just doesn't want to get his nails cut. Idk his face just seemed like he didn't care much when he responded to me. He also mentioned that they couldn't finish cutting his nails because he was being difficult. Toby has never acted like that before and I did see the groomer being rough with him so I was a bit upset. I'm not one to make a scene though, so I Just say ok and pay. I even leave a tip even though I was very stressed and anxious about the whole situation. I took Toby and made sure to give him lots of hugs and kisses. He didn't seem to be bleeding anywhere, so I decide to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Toby, like they said, shrieked like that because he doesn't like his nails cut. This is why I waited to post a review like this. Toby just got groomed today at another location. After last time's incident, I promised myself I wouldn't take him to this place again. We gave the new groomer a heads up that Toby might be scared of getting his nails cut. When he was done, the groomer gave a glowing review of Toby. She said he was wonderful and let her cut his nails just fine. She said he did great all around. I was so relieved to hear that, and I'm so so glad I found a new place to take Toby. After hearing how he behaved this time and comparing how he acted last time, I have a really hard time believing the groomers didn't mistreat him or something last time with the way he was crying. Ugh I never want to hear him cry like that again. I don't recommend this place, and I will not return here again. read more

I have been taking our Bella to Lakeside Spa for several years. She has some special needs and they are always kind and patient with her. Some observations: She always comes home with a very professional and well done hair cut. I have seen several customers bring their dogs with special needs ( blind, deaf, etc.) and leave with confidence knowing that their dogs were in good hands. In fact, that's how I found Lakeside Spa ! I read a review in a dog parent group by a lady who drove a long way to go to this Spa because her dog was blind. My point is this : At the end of the day, it's more important for my dog to be treated with patience and compassion than to have a wonderful hair cut. At Lakeside Spa, you get both!! read more

PET OWNERS BEWARE!!!!! Lakeside Pet Groomers butchered our dogs coat. They said she was matted but she has been going there every 2 weeks for over a year and without calling us decided to spot shave her and completely messed up her beautiful coat. We know she wasn't matted. We are besides ourselves and Marley hasn't eaten any food since she's been home from this happening. They have recently lost their good groomers so evidently there have been changes there and they honestly don't know what they are doing and didn't care for Marley like the original groomers did. This is my one and only post denigrating a 'so called' professional establishment. I would have preferred any day honest truth and a phone call saying pls take your dog home. So I just redownloaded the yelp app and was searching for something entirely different than my longtime groomers but happened across my old reviews and the photos I posted of my handsome doggo, Moose, enticed me to click on my old review lol. For some reason, though, my review from 2018 isn't even showing up on their page which is a shame for many reasons: 1.) Moose is ultra handsome so y'all be missing out; 2.) I love Lakeside Groomers and took the time to review the business so people like me, who like to check others reviews before committing to taking my business somewhere, would be able to refer to it. We have been clients from the beginning, and love Lakeside Pet Groomers. My mini golden doodle used to hate going to a groomers, especially the ones with cages. He was terrified. The groomers love dogs and are gentle. They are also phenomenal groomers and the dogs get to play with friends while they are waiting. It's grown so much that they are opening a much bigger facility where the 'dirty' dogs can play, and the clean ones can hang out in their own lounge while they await pick up. read more

I took my dog to this groomer today and this is how my doggy came home. Not sure what they did to have his eye swollen shut but it says a lot about their carelessness for small fragile dogs. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow morning and taking the bill to the owner see what kind of people they are. Would not recommend this establishment at all for any puppies. read more

We took our pup to Lakeside Pet Spa today and unfortunately had a very poor experience. I dropped our pup off a little before her 12:30 appointment and we were told it could take up to 4 hours. By 4:30, we haven't heard a word from Lakeside. We also called multiple times without anyone picking up the phone, so my husband drives up around 4:40. My husband was told to pay, then the women working realizes our dog is ready yet and they haven't begun to start her haircut as they needed to re-bathe her after she peed. No problem, but where is the communication? At no point did it occur to give us a call. We weren't super worried about the delay, I'm more worried about our pup who clearly was distressed in this environment. They just put your dog in a large room with fans to dry, which is very different than the blow dry other grooming places offer. The owner/manager says it will be another hour. So my husband stays nearby, and after and hour pops back in. Still at this point no additional communication, I had called several times for an update with no answers as they were scheduled to close in 15 minutes. Once our pup comes out (we're going on 6 hours at this point) the groomer states he had to rush because my husband was there and we can bring her back if we want. RUSHED? After 6 hours? I called afterwards and spoke to Becky, the owner, to have this discussion as we were hoping for an apology that my husband didn't get in person. She didn't accept any responsibility (we were not asking for a single dollar back) and eventually just hung up on me. Therefore the reason for this review. If you can't offer basic customer service such as communication or an apology when things don't go according to plan, then I will not trust you again with our pup. read more

For any business no matter the size, honesty, integrity and a welcoming attitude are an easy success for repeat and satisfied customers to return for your services. I was beyond excited when they opened back up after months of stay at home restrictions and grooming my dog myself, I can finally drop him off to get the five star spa treatment he deserves! So with eager anticipation, I went to pick up my dog as soon as we got the call letting us know he was ready to go home! I arrived at the counter to pay for his grooming and was told that I was to be charged $55 for his grooming costs as he is categorized as a medium / large dog (9 to 17lbs). When I dropped him off earlier in the day I looked at the pricing sheet which said that the price for a small dog grooming was $50 and the definition of a small pet was to be from 1 to 8lbs which my dog had finally reached this month after being a hermit with us at home these few months!! So I then asked why am I not being charged the $50 as he's nowhere near the 9 to 17lbs medium / small size category. The gentleman who was helping me went to confirm with the owner, and came back to say it's $55 for this size and that my dog is bigger than 8lbs. I did not see any scales inside their shop so I was pretty surprised to hear that she said my dog is more than 8lbs (which she also confirmed later on they have no scales in the shop) so I asked to speak with the owner. She was busy so she couldn't talk to me at that moment and the price is $55 firm. I said I was happy to wait a bit because I want to understand exactly what I'm being charged. After a while the owner came out, took a look at my dog (a toy poodle) and said your dog is bigger than 8lbs, to which I responded that he is exactly 8lbs (she wants me to prove to her that but as I mentioned earlier there's no scale available to prove anything! See picture for dog size / weight back at home). Next thing I know her tone shifted to impatience/annoyance and now the up charge is now because my dog came in matted and his fur was too long! What!? Isn't that the reason why customers pay for pet grooming? My dog's fur was at most 1 inch long and he had it groomed to be 1/8 inch so not sure how that's too long to begin with. It's beside the point that I had showered and brushed my dog four days before taking him here to be groomed just so his fur won't be pulled and jerked when he does get groomed. After I explained this, she now says that yes you showered him but you did not brush him! Does she have a hidden camera inside my house? Pretty surprising to hear this kind of accusation towards a customer... So to circle back, the pricing sheet that I mentioned earlier did not include any fine print or exceptions that point to special charges and it's crystal clear that prices are tiered based pet size and services. I don't think it's right for customers to be charged extra unless first discussed and agreed upon. Certainly did not expect the pushback when I asked for clarification on the charges. Second, how did my toy poodle having normal length fur be considered too long? I don't understand how her complaint can be considered reasonable. Is it really that big of a difference when you chop down 1 inch of fur to be 1/8th of an inch? Third, if you cannot substantiate your extra charges, please don't place the blame on your customers and make them feel like they are the one in the wrong for asking about it. Fourth and the biggest red flag: my dog has been going there since he was a puppy at 5 months old (6lb or less), and we were always charged $55. When I asked her about this finally during this fourth visit, she was unable to explain why I would be charged for a M/S size dog while he was still a 5 month puppy. She reiterated it is $55 this time and rudely told me that if I didn't like the price it is my choice next time to not come back. In the end, I think she was not able to justify charging me the higher price so she started to tell me she needs to go to the back to continue washing a cat. She said this visit is $50 but future visits will be $55 so I again asked why I would be charged $55 and referenced the pricing chart once more. After further discussion she said she won't be charging me for this visit (after the long conversation). I did not accept the free offer and left $60 in cash on her table as she did deliver on the services and groomed my dog, but she still could not explain why my dog needed to be up charged. I went back after 30 minutes or so to request my visit and payment history, which my husband talked to them and they are going to provide to us tonight. We've had an overall good experience over the last few years but with today's visit we will no longer go back. Others have similarly horrible experiences over the years and shared their reviews, but I never really thought it would happen to me personally. read more

Set up an appoint easy enough, first time visit for my Klein Poodle, unable to use my regular groomer who is out for the covid-19. I wasn't expecting my usual type of service but just needed a bath and slight trim. I keep my poodles grooming more on the med long size vs a close trim for summer trim. I did not want the top Knot messed with except maybe some scissor trim to keep even. The lady working me listen to me, seemed to understand. I chose this place as it seems more "high end " and should be able to know how to cut a poodle. I opted for the luxury treatment to include everything for the best treatment. Called back in reasonable time to pick up and I paid, then they brought out my poodle....I was horrified, look like they took a single size clipper blade to her whole body including her top knot, She looked horrible, the feet pads had hair still sticking out, body cut was never trimmed after the clippers to finish her. I was so mad I had to leave. After all the damage had been done and they had my money. 4-18...Review updated, was contacted within hours of posting my review by the owner, wanting to know all specifics of what happened. I was able to explain in my greater detail. He was very professional and forthwith got back to me first thing this morning. Explain the issues and refunded partial payment of services, apologized. I will have to say, I am impressed at his level of customer service. Due to him making good on a bad situation, immediately- I will change my rating to 4 stars, even tho I am still not happy with cut I do appreciate his concern for my poodle and what had happened. I know he doesn't have complete control over all his groomers so that I can understand his hands are tied to a certain point. However he wasted no time getting down to bottom of it and making sure I was taken care of $ due to poor circumstances. read more
