If I could give Legacy Grooming 100 out of 5 stars, I would!!! I spent2yrs after moving to Texas trying groomers. I took our dogs all over McKinney, Allen, Plano & Frisco trying to find a groomer who could SAFELY AND PROPERLY handle TRULY deshedding winter coated dogs before I found Legacy Grooming. I love that the owners are husband & wife and that they are the ones grooming dogs too so it's not just a rotating door of "lightly experienced people who wash dogs" but experienced owners & a very small staff who remember you, your dogs and most importantly your dogs personality. We have been seeing them for almost 4yrs and have brought in a total of 11 dogs. 5 of my own dogs and 6 foster dogs. PERSONAL DOGS & with winter coats 3 of the 5 of my dogs are winter and/or long coats that require special attention and should NEVER, for the health and safety of their coat, be trimmed or shaved. EVER. 2 Siberian Huskies and a Great Pyrenees Which multiple previous groomers "who specialized in winter coats" suggested be done. So finding Legacy Grooming was heaven sent bc I HATE hair (ya I know) & waisting money on poorly de-shed dogs was super frustrating. They also took care of my senior dog with amazing care. At about 8-9yrs old grooming can become very hard because of the stress on the dog so they were amazing about scheduling him on quieter week day appointments so it would be less stressful, and though we have lost our oldest pup since, I'll always be so grateful to them for handling him care bc I was always so dang fearful of trimming an older dogs nails especially since he had black nail beds. FOSTER RESCUE DOGS Because we had had such amazing experiences with our personal dogs once we started fostering I had a chat with the owners about bringing in my foster dogs for just basic washes and nail trims. Not so much bc they needed it but bc it is so important to get dogs acclimated to those services so as they grow older their fur-ever homes would have an easier time continuing them. Thankfully they have amazingly good prices so I was able to do that for our fosters. Of course just like our personal dogs, when I picked them up, there were zero signs of fear or anxiety which means they were on the right path for the future thanks to Legacy's entire staff. My tiny dog was injured during grooming, I do not know what happened. Hot clipper blades? Dull clipper blades? Dirty clipper blades? Uncooperative dog? The variables are countless. I called twice to discuss and got no answers, so I have no idea what really happened. They said they would call me back but they did not. We ended up in the emergency vet clinic at 10:00 pm 10/26/24 and it is a good thing we went. My poor dog was clearly in pain, stopped eating, rapid panting and screamed when we tried to examine her v area. Antibiotics and pain meds prescribed. This whole thing is so upsetting and I did not want to write this review but I see no other recourse. Maybe this place is still fine for certain kinds of dogs and cats but fragile 5 pound dogs? Not mine. I will be grooming them myself from now on. I don't even care if they don't look as cute as they do after a real grooming. Watching them suffer is agony. read more

I have 3 dogs and started taking them to Legacy-McKinney after my previous groomer moved. The youngest dog is a 2 year old golden doodle and is shy/timid in new situations. She is NOT aggressive will shy away in a confrontation. I always ask how she did during grooming because the previous groomer had to hand blow dry her instead of using the big blower on her because she was afraid, which I told Legacy about and they assured me they could accommodate her. When I picked her up this last time, they said everything went fine. Except the next day, she was terrified to get the leash put on her and she wouldn't get in the car, she used to love car rides. When I finally got her in the car, she cried the entire time. We've had to do a lot of retraining over the last couple weeks to get her to even get the leash on and go for a car ride. She is about due for grooming and I'll be making the drive up to Anna to take her to our previous groomer. read more

I cannot believe what an all-around bad experience this was! The worst part is that my poor dog had two paw pads on different paws get shaved too closely and one was bleeding. This has NEVER happened before anywhere else. We've also caught him butt scooting a few times so his butt must have gotten shaved too closely as well. The weird part is that when I showed up for my appointment, they said I had no appointment and I must have called one of their different locations. I checked my call log and it was their number I had called! I did appreciate them fitting me in anyway. During my call for an appointment, I also doubled checked whether they would honor the Yelp 15% first time coupon and they said yes, but of course on paying, they said they haven't honored the coupon for years and my call must have been to one of their other locations anyway. I was referred here by a coworker & the first time I tried it out everything was great I had no complaints. The second time I went back I asked them not to take too much hair off and they went extremely short and did a hack job on his face . His eyebrows were completely shaved off and almost looked burned from how close it was and his eyelashes were completely taken off (not sure why). They were done relatively quickly but when my dog came home he was exhausted. Normally he is tired so it didn't seem too concerning until I looked closer at his face and seen the job they did . When it came to night time he couldn't keep his eyes open at all it seemed like he was completely out of it . I even held him up and was calling his name and trying to get him to open his eyes and he wouldn't . They stayed closed . Not sure what happened this trip but after tipping and having a total of $94, I am furious. I do not recommend anyone to come here. read more

We have been taking our dog here for a couple years. Sadly, we had to stop. They do a good job (and it should be good with the cost over $100 with tip and tax). They have one employee who is a loose cannon and shouldn't be allowed to answer the phone or deal directly with customers. If you read many of the 1 star reviews, they all point back to the same guy. I called to reschedule due to circumstances completely out of my control and was berated on the phone by the same person mentioned in the other bad reviews. I understand being frustrated with a new client who had to reschedule, but I've spent well over $1200 in grooming services with this business and didn't need to be yelled at on the phone. It unprofessional at best. I even offered to pay something to cancel knowing it takes a spot from someone else. I'm not sure who actually owns the business, but if I were you, I'd do something about the erratic and unhinged employee answering the phone. 3 reluctant stars for the work by the groomers, but you lose a couple for a very poor customer experience. I'd also recommend drug testing your employees. read more

Holy moly, this is hands down the best groomer I've found in the area. My pup is the HAPPIEST he's ever been upon pick up. He looks perfect. The facility is clean, smells great, and you are greeted by literally every person in the room. I immediately felt comfortable here and knew my pup would be too. I absolutely feel like a jerk off because upon arriving home I realized I didn't tip nearly enough for their services. I will definitely have to make this up on our next appointment. It's also important to note, I was lucky enough to get a same day appointment since I procrastinated booking this before the holidays. They only took 2 hours and my pup has zero anxiety and looks great. He's also got a sensitive eye from a previous surgery and they minded it very well. This was a great experience. I actually called and they were able to take my dog the same day. this was a friday and according to the man on the phone friday is a busy day for them. But it didn't matter he was nice over the phone and I was able to drop my dog off at 2:30pm and she was a mess my poor baby. They had her looking like a brand new dog in about 2 hours. What a damn joke of a place.. he tried to tell me I had to shave me my dog there's no other way.. a 10 yr old Aussie that hasn't been groomed in 2 months that's kept inside apparently is so matted that he needs shaving??? When I asked him to show me where he matted.. it was one little matt... while he's trying to tell me the only thing he can do is shave him.. the assistant leads my dog to a kennel where my dog can't stand or turn around in?? I grabbed my dog and left. dude sounded like he was amped on cocaine I was sketched out before he even started talking about my dog.
