Freshly bathed Olive (bandana not included).

It's been several months since we went back, shortly after ownership changed hands. I was less than impressed this time. They closed off the behind the counter area where you could previously see dogs being groomed, I liked the transparency before. My dog was supposed to take 1.5 hours for a bath and nail trim and ended taking around 3. When I got her back her nails still looked like they needed to be trimmed, she was shedding profusely and still damp. We are going to try somewhere else moving forward.

This is her eyes the day afterwards

Edit: I do not review often. I think this is the 5th place I've ever reviewed, most were positive reviews. This place was so bad I had to share. She was NOT matted and is brushed regularly. She is a poodle mix, and does have that tight ringlet hair. She was bathed that week, and we use coconut oil on her coat afterwards even. Peter grunted as he looked at dog, not sure if he did not speak English but he did not say a word to me. "5" means nothing to me. If I was told "5" while I was saying long /same as last month, someone should communicate it would not be the same. She literally was shaved bald. This was punitive for me being upset about the first visit. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do NOT bring your babies here. My dog could not open her eyes for two days after grooming here. They were bright red for several days and was told it was likely the shampoo. (See pic of her eye, a day after grooming). I gave them a second chance, and they mutalated her. I asked for a long Teddy Bear cut, and they basically scalped her!!! (See second pic, compared to third pic). Peter was the groomer and is the "master" there. Avoid at all costs.

    Before

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with LaPawz. It was my dog's third visit and the owner was not there this time. I believe they may have changed ownership? Regardless, I was VERY specific about how I wanted her cut - she was shaggy and I wanted her hair to remain long - using the #5 blade - because I wanted it longer through the winter. They advised me that they could not due so because of how Doodles are matted and tangled. i reviewed and showed them that she was NOT - I brush her daily - and she did not have a single mat or tangle. They then positioned it that it would be just too hard to cut with her hair as long as it was. What? I tried to get into other groomers (keep in mind, this was the day before Thanksgiving and she was getting gussied up for company) but to no avail. I was left with no other options than their "promise" to try to cut it to a #4 blade. I showed them a picture, in which the woman behind the counter took a picture of the image to show the groomer, and reviewed that I wanted her cut similar to the dog in the picture and specifically stated to leave the top of her hair long for ponytails. I had been working for almost a year to have it grown out so I could do fun things with her top knot. Went to pick her up and, 1) she was shorter than a #3 blade even, 2) her face was all chopped up, and 3) they cut the top of her hair completely off. I wanted to cry! The lady kept trying to dismiss it saying "you didn't tell me" (I most assuredly did). I even reviewed she took a picture and initially she denied it but then confessed that she had. I wasn't getting anywhere with her so I requested the owner to call me. The owner called and left me a voice message. I quickly called back and he didn't answer. I texted him my concerns and he never responded. I followed up with another text which he also ignored. I should NOT have had to pay what I did - $115 - for what they did to my dog. I never asked them to discount or waive the fee but some consideration should have definitely been offered. Including before, after, and the picture I wanted her to look like for review.

    Before her cut!

I went here to get my female standard poodle professionally groomed for the first time yesterday! She was very scared while walking in for the first time but when I came to pick her up, she was very happy and refreshed! They made her look beautiful and unrecognizable!! The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. Most likely will be coming back with my other doodle soon. Below is a before and after!

Harvey's first time! Before & After! Adorable teddy bear cut They did an amazing job!!

I love La Pawz Grooming! It took me awhile to find the perfect groomer for Harvey and I finally found the right place :) Harvey is a 4 year old rescued shihtzu and he is very shy and afraid of strangers. He hates going to the groomers and I've taken him to couple other groomers before going to La Pawz. Every time I've gotten him groomed, he was always terrified and sad and it took him forever to feel at ease again after the groomers. However, the first time I took Harvey to La Pawz, he was scared but when I got him back, he was super happy and calm! Not only that, but his haircut was so cute and they cut it perfectly! They did exactly the way I asked them to cut his hair :) If you're worried about your dog getting a bad haircut or the groomer not taking care of your dog well, take your dog to La Pawz! They will always do an awesome job. But the three times I've been to La Pawz the haircut I asked for wasn't consistent. It was still adorable but I really liked the first cut they did for him. The second time, I had to ask them to recut and trim certain parts of his face and they did it right away and they were so nice about it! The staff here are very helpful and prompt! Harvey was always ready to be picked up in 2-3 hours. He always smells so wonderful and fresh and they give him the cutest little bandana! I would recommend La Pawz to any dog owners! (especially if you have a shih tzu)

Waaaaay better than expected! I will certainly be going back. Facility was clean, the reception was warm! The groom was neat and both dogs were done on time as promised. The pricing was good compared to others in the area.

Great service. Happy with my puppy's first grooming cut. They couldn't do everything that I asked because it was my pups first time at the groomers.

We've been bringing Finley to LaPawz for over a year now and love it!! The staff is wonderful and they treat my high energy, difficult to groom dog very well! We have a Wheaten Terrier and prefer not to have the typical Wheaten cut. They understand what we want and I feel like Charles does a fabulous job!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but something is going on here. My dog was bitten while doing doggie…read moredaycare on Friday. I don't believe it was playful either. This sounded like an aggressive dog situation. We have gone to this Pappy's for years (even when they were on Ohio), but I can't send my dog back there in good faith. No one from Pappy's has called to check on Summer and when they sent me a survey link, mysteriously, it didn't work they said they were having software issues. Anywho, they took her to a vet Friday after the attack (since we were out of town and she needed emergency care), but they didn't stitch her up. That was no cost to us, but they did still charge us for the boarding that should have been comped. We took her to her normal vet on Tuesday and she had surgery yesterday, stitches and a Penrose drain placed. $1800 out of our pocket. Also, a couple months ago, when we picked her up from getting groomed, she was acting like something was in her eye. The next day I took her to the vet to have that checked, and she had trauma to the eye. I don't know if that happened w the groomer or daycare afterward, but nothing was said to me on pickup and I gave them the benefit of the doubt that accidents happen. Now after this, no more Pappy's. I just don't get the feel that this place is professional and safely managed anymore.

I once thought they were the the best but now consider them amongst the worst. The attitude of staff is non caring at best and cruel at worst. Given the prices they charge one would think your animals are well taken care The last few times and (especially today) when we got them home at 3:30, they got out of our car and peed for nearly 2 minutes. It was clear the staff did not let them out to urinate for many hours. Horrible! The worst part; the dismissive, smug and "I don't give a d**m attitude"of the staff. No smiles, no greeting and no thank you. They are a miserable bunch to be sure. We really don't care about pleasantries but care a lot our about our dogs. For these reasons we will NEVER take them to Pappys again. Advice; you need completely new leadership and fire every one on the front desk staff and likely the people in the back who lock up dogs and don't even let them pee. I will be calling the city of Plano in the morning as an inspection is in order. If you care about your dog, Pappys is last place you should leave them.

We have brought Olive to Sparta since she was a puppy two years ago to receive grooming services, and have always instructed them to cut her hair as short as they can (she is a maltipoo breed and her hair grows back fast). When picking her up from the appointment, she had been entirely shaved down to where her pink skin was visible all over her entire body. On her head, there were two clear red markings from razor burn above both of her eyes (I have attached a photo from when we returned home Friday). She began scratching these specific areas on her face excessively, leaving large bloody and scabbed areas. We have had to buy a cone and ear cover (to prevent hematomas forming from excessive head shaking due to irritation of her ears) to prevent her from further injuring herself. I reached out to Sparta yesterday with my concerns and requesting a refund, stating we have brought her here multiple times and given the same grooming instructions, but we have never had her entirely shaved down with visible injuries left on her face. I also attached photos in the email with timestamps of previous grooming appointments from the last year to back my claims, along with photos of the razor burn injuries which were a direct result of the grooming appointment. The general manager, Kim Hernandez, reached back out and left a message for my boyfriend, whose phone number is linked to our account. He called back after work today, to which Kim claimed there were in fact no red markings left on Olive's face following the grooming, and that she was scratching her face because she "wasn't used to" the shorter haircut, and that they would not refund the grooming services. Her claims are false. There were clear red markings, razor burn, from the time we picked her up from the appointment that worsened due to the irritation in this specific area. She did not have any other red markings on her body, and she has not been scratching any other part of her body excessively, even with the extremely short length/lack of hair even left. I have also attached photos of how the injuries have progressed, with two photos from Sunday morning and two photos from this afternoon. I find it extremely disappointing that a company we have poured hundreds of dollars into for two years for grooming, boarding, and daycare services to basically blame our dog for the actions of the groomer (Jennifer). I find it disgusting that a facility that is supposed to ensure the health and wellbeing of dogs would so blatantly deny their actions, not even providing an apology for the repercussions on Olive's health. We will not be returning to this facility due to Kim's callous response, and I recommend you would too think twice about having your dog groomed here.
