Amazing prices and beautiful work grooming both of my dogs. Finally found someone closer that is affordable.

I can not recommend this business! I dropped off my Golden Retriever for a BATH ONLY!! That's what I ordered on-line and confirmed verbally at drop off. BATH ONLY!!! I picked him up and he had been de-shedded, nails AND his paws were trimmed!!! Some customers might be happy about getting a service they didn't pay for. If the de-shedding, nail and paw trim was what my dog needed AND it was a job well done, I might feel differently. But that is NOT the case! De-shedding issue: My Golden does NOT have the long, flowing "typical" Golden fur. His is fur is fine and short, it just doesn't grow much and does NOT to be de-shedded!! It finally had just gotten long enough this past year that it layed down. Now, it's sticking up every where, gets tiny tangles, is a shaggy mess! Nail trim and Trimmed paw issue: When I say, they trimmed his paws, you can see where they just snipped the "grinch fur" sticking up on the top of his paws, not that they did a nice trim job and blended the fur etc. Some Golden owners might not like the "grinch feet" but I am not one of them! The nails didn't even need a trim, now they have jagged edges!! The paw trim was not a job well done and was NOT a service I asked for!! My biggest issue though, is getting a service I DID NOT ask for or want!! WHY were grooming tools even near my dog when I ONLY ordered a basic bath?? I have sent an email asking a manager or owner to call me to discuss this. I have also called multiple times asking to speak to someone in charge or call me and nothing!! It's been a week now, No response to my email and no call back. So this is my first negative review EVER! So at this point, all I can say is, DO NOT GO HERE if you want any level of professional customer service or if you want any service that is what you asked for and looks good! read more

This is one of the most poorly run and borderline inhumane pet service establishments in the area. The "owner" Sebastian is incredibly disorganized, inept and incapable. If you want to harm your animal, wish to see nails clipped far too short with jagged edges and then get stared down by one of the staff while they rip a cig outside the store then this is your place. LaPawz which isn't clearly marked as it has 2-3 other businesses stuffed into the filthy, disgusting and disorderly piece of Plano strip mall is an abomination. I wish that the location received enough foot traffic to accurately reflect what a *hit hole it truly is as the ratings don't seem to capture the space I entered and then was shaken down for payment of service not rendered or improperly performed. Horrible Service! I set my cat up for grooming. The day of the appointment I show up the lady there who's name is Jenny asks if my cat has been there before I replied no, she then proceeds to tell me oh I don't know if we can do the grooming your cat may scratch the groomer etc. She said your cat has never been here before so the groomer doesn't know the cat. Such a waste of time!! Why wasn't that discussed the day the appointment was set. Horrible way to run a business. My biggest regret is that I had taken my other cat there before in which too had never been there before so make it make sense! She also asked if I could take my cat in the next day! It's been several months since we went back, shortly after ownership changed hands. I was less than impressed this time. They closed off the behind the counter area where you could previously see dogs being groomed, I liked the transparency before. My dog was supposed to take 1.5 hours for a bath and nail trim and ended taking around 3. When I got her back her nails still looked like they needed to be trimmed, she was shedding profusely and still damp. We are going to try somewhere else moving forward. read more

Edit: I do not review often. I think this is the 5th place I've ever reviewed, most were positive reviews. This place was so bad I had to share. She was NOT matted and is brushed regularly. She is a poodle mix, and does have that tight ringlet hair. She was bathed that week, and we use coconut oil on her coat afterwards even. Peter grunted as he looked at dog, not sure if he did not speak English but he did not say a word to me. "5" means nothing to me. If I was told "5" while I was saying long /same as last month, someone should communicate it would not be the same. She literally was shaved bald. This was punitive for me being upset about the first visit. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do NOT bring your babies here. My dog could not open her eyes for two days after grooming here. They were bright red for several days and was told it was likely the shampoo. (See pic of her eye, a day after grooming). I gave them a second chance, and they mutalated her. Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with LaPawz. It was my dog's third visit and the owner was not there this time. I believe they may have changed ownership? Regardless, I was VERY specific about how I wanted her cut - she was shaggy and I wanted her hair to remain long - using the #5 blade - because I wanted it longer through the winter. They advised me that they could not due so because of how Doodles are matted and tangled. i reviewed and showed them that she was NOT - I brush her daily - and she did not have a single mat or tangle. They then positioned it that it would be just too hard to cut with her hair as long as it was. What? I tried to get into other groomers (keep in mind, this was the day before Thanksgiving and she was getting gussied up for company) but to no avail. I was left with no other options than their "promise" to try to cut it to a #4 blade. I showed them a picture, in which the woman behind the counter took a picture of the image to show the groomer, and reviewed that I wanted her cut similar to the dog in the picture and specifically stated to leave the top of her hair long for ponytails. I had been working for almost a year to have it grown out so I could do fun things with her top knot. Went to pick her up and, 1) she was shorter than a #3 blade even, 2) her face was all chopped up, and 3) they cut the top of her hair completely off. I wanted to cry! The lady kept trying to dismiss it saying "you didn't tell me" (I most assuredly did). I even reviewed she took a picture and initially she denied it but then confessed that she had. I wasn't getting anywhere with her so I requested the owner to call me. The owner called and left me a voice message. I quickly called back and he didn't answer. I texted him my concerns and he never responded. I followed up with another text which he also ignored. I should NOT have had to pay what I did - $115 - for what they did to my dog. I never asked them to discount or waive the fee but some consideration should have definitely been offered. Including before, after, and the picture I wanted her to look like for review. read more

Took my English golden retriever and very skittish aggressive German shepherd. They did a beautiful job! Sebastian listened to my concerns and I was immediately put at ease. This was the first time either dog had been to the "beauty shop." They did a fabulous job. My fur children were taken care of, bathed and groomed beautifully! I will definitely be back now that I know my dogs are in good hands and groomed better than I ever anticipated and expected. I went here to get my female standard poodle professionally groomed for the first time yesterday! She was very scared while walking in for the first time but when I came to pick her up, she was very happy and refreshed! They made her look beautiful and unrecognizable!! I love La Pawz Grooming! It took me awhile to find the perfect groomer for Harvey and I finally found the right place :) Harvey is a 4 year old rescued shihtzu and he is very shy and afraid of strangers. He hates going to the groomers and I've taken him to couple other groomers before going to La Pawz. Every time I've gotten him groomed, he was always terrified and sad and it took him forever to feel at ease again after the groomers. However, the first time I took Harvey to La Pawz, he was scared but when I got him back, he was super happy and calm! Not only that, but his haircut was so cute and they cut it perfectly! They did exactly the way I asked them to cut his hair :) If you're worried about your dog getting a bad haircut or the groomer not taking care of your dog well, take your dog to La Pawz! They will always do an awesome job. But the three times I've been to La Pawz the haircut I asked for wasn't consistent. It was still adorable but I really liked the first cut they did for him. The second time, I had to ask them to recut and trim certain parts of his face and they did it right away and they were so nice about it! The staff here are very helpful and prompt! Harvey was always ready to be picked up in 2-3 hours. He always smells so wonderful and fresh and they give him the cutest little bandana! I would recommend La Pawz to any dog owners! My family has a double coated dog. He was badly matted pretty much in various places underneath his body. We went to get his matted hair shaved at LaPaws. I only wanted the badly matted hair shaved knowing he would look funny, but the groomer shaved his whole body extremely short unnecessarily. I should have been very clear that I don't care about him looking nice, it's for his health as to why I don't want him shaved completely. Once we came home, for some reason, he couldn't open his left eye. This was right after his grooming. I went to the vet the next day and the veterinarian said it's likely the soap and/or tools they used that caused his eye infection because it somehow got to him. The trip to the vet cost me $240 to treat his eyes and if the medication works, it will take about a week for him to get better. I am very angry about this experience and my poor doggo. I would never ever recommend this location to anybody, unless you want your dog to get a bad eye infection. Oh, but the front desk employee is nice and friendly. read more

Piss poor customer service. I don't get my dog groomed here very often, but when I do, I drop at least $130 dollars ($90 for groom and rest for tip). I have been going here for about 3 or so years. I had called today (6/19/2019) to try and see if they could take my pup in for a late appointment. I was "greeted" by a man who was very rude and told me they don't take late appointments. Okay, fine. No big deal. That wasn't the problem. The problem was after. He told me he was going to "put me on hold for a second" to see if he could get me in today... BUT FORGOT TO PUT ME ON HOLD, SO I HEARD EVERYTHING HE SAID. Apparently he was training someone new, and the first thing I heard was "I don't know why the fu**ing phones keep ringing when I'm trying to train you" I'M SORRY, first of all, isn't that HOW SOMEONE IS TRAINED?? And second, do you NOT want clients?? Then, I heard him ask the groomers "you wanna take a cocker spaniel mix? No? Okay I'll tell her something" but then someone (I'm assuming one of the groomers) said, "fine, bring him in" LOL YEAH, I think not. Not going to bring my dog and drop a bunch of money for a shave/groom, TIP VERY GENEROUSLY, to someone or a company who seems to care less about customer service and quite frankly, seems lazy and doesn't want to work. You don't want my money? Fine, I'll take it somewhere else. Bottom line is, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in how my 5 minute phone call was handled and will NEVER be bring my pups here ever again. Which is very unfortunate because my pups loved it here, and the groomers. But I just can not excuse this behavior. I understand you are having a bad day, and trying to train, but maybe you aren't the right person to train if you can't even correctly use a hold button. I am actually grateful for this brief experience because I now know that this place doesn't value customer service/well being for animals as much as I thought it did. I want someone who loves animals and loves their job. With this attitude, who knows if my pup would have gotten the full $90 groom that I would have paid for, and even worse, what if they treated him badly because they were having a bad day?! And with my pup having severe back and anxiety issues, i just wouldn't feel right bringing him here ever again. It's unfortunate that a 5 minute phone call lost you a life-long customer. Maybe in the future you will make sure you actually put someone on hold, or better yet, change your attitude when someone is trying to bring you business with their HARD EARNED MONEY. I definitely recommend thinking twice about bringing your pup here. This was just my experience, but I feel I needed to share it so other dog parents know what happens behind the phone when you try to make an appointment and to be cautious about bringing your fur babies to a company who clearly doesn't want them there, and just wants your money. read more

I sent my dog for a spa day. My lhasa apso mix dog got little anxious about the grooming recently, so I decided to try LaPaws. When we walked in, a very friendly owner?(maybe manager) greeted me and my dog. As it was our first day, he asked for the vaccination records and had me signed some forms. The facility was clean and neat. Later afternoon when I went to pick up my dog, he was so happy and seems like he had s much fun inside the daycare. His haircut is so cute and I couldn't find any sign of stress from him like before. I will definitely come back and also will try a daycare package next time! read more

This is the first time I took my pup Leo to LaPawz to be groomed. Emily is phenomenal she fixed a bad groom from a previous groomer making Leo look dapper and handsome! She was meticulous with his feet and his ears as well as cutting him evenly. I cannot thank her enough. He smells fresh & good without an overpowering scent and the cut is awesome! She also explained to me his behaviors and what he liked and did not like with grooming. We went back after a while due to our crazy schedules and living in Dallas. We were told our dog was on probation for trying to bite the groomer. The manager was short with us. Later I found a picture of her posing with our dog on Facebook. Very unprofessional. I called to make an appointment afterwards and the same manager picked up and was unnecessarily rude. While I do love the groomers here, her bad attitude has driven us away. We just picked up our dogs at Jack and Jill in Dallas and Liz did a great job. I have taken my dog to La Pawz before and the first time I came here I informed the individual at the front desk that my dog is a shelter dog and that he fears people, new places, abandonment, and many more things. When I took my dog in for the first visit I had to lure my dog into the place and they saw how fearful my dog was but still claimed that they would be able to bathe him. His bathing went well and we were excited to come back. We set up an appointment for the next time my dog was to be bathed and they were more than happy to accommodate. I arrived 30 minutes early for my appointment because I wanted ample time to get my dog inside. The groomers saw my dog struggling and decided that they did not feel comfortable bathing my dog but never thought it was necessary to tell me. I was outside struggling with my dog trying to lure him to come inside for an entire 45 minutes before finally being able to get my dog inside La Pawz. Only after getting inside was I notified by the individual at the front desk that the groomer does not feel comfortable bathing my dog. For an entire 45 minutes I was struggling with my dog right outside La Pawz and was putting my dog through immense stress and causing incredible trauma to my dog. I have no issue that the groomer felt uncomfortable bathing my dog after they saw him struggling to come inside but the least La Pawz could have done was walk outside and spend 1 minute of their time to let me know that they would not take my dog instead of having my dog be traumatized for 45 minutes. read more

LaPawz is amazing!! My cat Slimy is pushing 18 years old, and is indoor/outdoor. He struggles to groom himself and was very matted and dirty. Moxie @ LaPawz let me know she couldn't give him a full shave because of his age, and that his hair might not grow back so well. She did the next best thing, she dematted him, shaved his belly and around his bottom and back legs. He literally looks 10 years younger, and it's been life changing for him. We have been together a long time... I know when he's feeling good. He is lighter and so much more comfortable! Slimy is an all black cat, and didn't even look black before Moxie groomed him (see attached photos). I would highly recommend Moxie and her husband for all your pet grooming needs! So we decided to try this place since it was closer to the house. I'm big on how my dogs body language is when ever we pick him up from the groomer. The other place we went to took over 6 hrs. He was so stressed out. This place took a little over 3 hrs which isn't bad at all and when we went to get him he was super happy and cheerful. The cut was absolutely great. Everything came out even and he looks like a total stud muffin. We will definitely go back. After ready some other reviews of the front desk person I was slightly nervous but I don't know what they're talking about. I don't remember her name but she was so friendly and welcoming. I have a 10 year old Maltese and have always struggled with finding a consistently good (or just good) groomer. Usually his haircuts are hideous. He's been in twice and they have done great both times. I won't take him anywhere else. He always looks so darn cute when I pick him up. Horrible experience. Brought my dog in for a simple nail cut, if you haven't been to the back... you should. Moment employee grabbed my dog, he was very aggressive and experience was horrible. He was very aggressive with my baby's paws and my dog was screaming. I know dogs scream when they are being worked on, but man was no where near humble or patient. He left my dog nails all uneven and one of his paws was bleeding once I got home. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! If you drop off your puppy here then leave, imagine what they do to your baby when you aren't here. I was baffled at seeing this treatment after reading the reviews. I have taken Motley to LaPawz for several years, they have always done a great grooming on him. The groomers there are very well trained, I watch them while I'm waiting on Motley to be brought out, which sometimes it takes awhile, I think because he is so cute and lovable they are in the back getting some snuggle time with him!! The groomers are very patient, the dogs seem very comfortable, it just all seems to work very smoothly and the finished dog is either; cute as cute can be, very elegant, or clean and groomed, freshly shaven manly dog! I took my Westy to Lapaws for a grooming. I was told that they had to cut her skirt a little bit shorter. This is what she looked like: a white rat with a shag. She also got cut on her tail and was bleeding, with numerous nicks. Plus they were more expensive than most groomers in the area. I will not return to this groomer. read more

I just happened to see the LaPawz when grocery shopping at Walmart and decided to check it out. Am I glad I did! I was motivated because it is close to home, and we have found dog grooming in Plano to be less that wonderful and very expensive. I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the service and the lovely people at LaPawz! They did a fantastic job with our cockapoo, giving him the works! The cut was exactly as requested and the price was almost half of what we have been paying. The facility is clean, but not fancy, and the staff was kind and truly seemed interested in making the experience a positive one for our Mac. I highly recommend LaPawz!! read more

She cannot stay 3+hours, and they were accommodating on this . I understand that the groomer needed to fix the skirt problem, but to shave her all over? I thought that she would just thin it out some and shape it. Plus her tail was left bushy like a squirrel and bleeding underneath her tail. She shaved her too close in her bottom and she has razor burns. Her muzzle is uneven and choppy. I am glad that so many of your customers are pleased with LaPawz, but I am def. not. Sure, I could have brought her back in and talked to them about this, but to what avail? I will find someone else. read more

Update - I continued to take my dogs here a few more times after my initial review before I decided to switch. Why? It seemed like maybe there were some new people hired and the consistency disappeared. Sometimes a great groom, other times just OK. Occasionally marks left on their bellies, etc. We started going to Lucky Dog and have been loving it ever since. Recently I'd let the dogs go without grooming a bit longer than I normally would and wanted them taken care of ASAP - unfortunately, Lucky Dog was booked solid. So I decided to give La Pawz another go. Worst grooming jobs they'd done yet. Choppy looking, random patches left on their bellies, little knots left behind, etc. AND they're more expensive than Lucky Dog. The staff was kind to us, but that's really the only compliment I have left. read more

I have two dogs that require regular grooming. My schnauzer always looks great when she comes home! My schnauzer/poodle mix always looks great too, but more importantly they are great with him! After going to the first groomer we tried, he started fighting during grooming. We switched groomers and it got worse. At la pawz it's actually getting better. They know he will be a harder groom, but are always excited to see him. Hands down the best groomer ever ... Both in quality and in handling.
