If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was very up front about my shih-tzu being 16 and having doggy dementia. I was also up front about our last groomers saying it would better to have our vet groom my dog. My vet does not groom dogs which led me to La Pawz. I told them that I could give him medicine before grooming and they said they groomed lots of dogs that had to take medicine for grooming. Once I got to the appointment the groomer refused to groom my dog and didn't even have the decency to tell me why she wouldn't groom my dog. This place has a lot to learn about customer service. I have two dogs that require regular grooming. My schnauzer always looks great when she comes home! My schnauzer/poodle mix always looks great too, but more importantly they are great with him! After going to the first groomer we tried, he started fighting during grooming. We switched groomers and it got worse. At la pawz it's actually getting better. They are meticulous about the details, help guide you as you make grooming decisions and caution if you are getting the undercoat too short. They adore dogs and you can tell with their attention to the dogs and awareness of each's uniqueness. I have a very anxious dog, and although she still gets nervous, she isn't scared of baths or clippings at LaPawz as she has been at other locations -- I've observed. They told me a timeframe to bring her back, but what was the most impressive thing is that they told me to take her to the Dr., as she probably had an ear infection. I am so glad I found this place through Yelp! I have a tiny 3 year old Maltese that I used to take to another local groomer. I loved them at first, but I noticed that after time, my poor pup would come back TERRIFIED. So much that she would make accidents in her bed! I also noticed she would have small cuts on her from time to time. I was also annoyed of snide remarks about how she was matted in places. We were past due for a new groomer. I took her here a few weeks ago and they did a fabulous job. One thing I wasn't used to was it took almost four hours. I even called asking if she was okay and they said they were almost done and would call me. At the other groomers, they would take as little as 50 minutes at times. I now realize that La Pawz takes their time and ensures perfection. Plus, I was pleased they were able to squeeze me in the same day I called. I also pre-warned them how my pup was matted since I was used to the remarks from her past groomer. The owner acted like it was no big deal and assured me it was common for dogs to get matting from their collars. Shortly after my visit, I adopted a sweet puppy that my friend found in a sewer. She is 7 months old and shy; the vet said she was abandoned for at least a week. Her hair was matted and dirty, and she desperately needed a makeover. La Pawz did an incredible job. I could not believe the transformation! The groomer was helpful in even telling me what breed she thought my dog is. I was especially pleased they said she is such a great puppy and very laid-back because she was shaking when I brought her in. I just moved here and found La Pawz to groom my 13 yr old cocker spaniel. This would be a five star review but I was blow away at the price of getting my dog groomed. The most I have ever paid for a groom for my cocker was when I lived in Maryland, $70 including a $10 tip. My spaniel was $80 including the tip. I was just shocked by that and then they told me they charge per pound for your dog and because my dog was old, they had to use two groomers. The good thing was no nick or cuts on my dog or any of her skin warts. She also wasn't sore or achy, always a good thing, so they were very gentle on her. Her cut looks great and she is all nice and soft and cool again. That part of the groom was great. The customer service was awesome as well and everyone was so nice and friendly. I would love to bring my baby back here again, but I can't afford that price. read more

I found this place after having a bad experience at one of the big chain groomers. I was very nervous about getting my Lhasa groomed again. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable and put me and my dog at ease right away. I took him in at noon and they had him ready by 3:15. They gave him a teddy bear cut and he looks adorable. My puppy hates grooming because she's not comfortable with strangers picking her up, touching her butt, and holding her paws for too long. I let them know and they took great care of her! She looked like a puppy again when I got her back and she didn't look traumatized at all (which is not normal lol). They were able to trim her nails which was never done before, she smelled so nice and her ears were very clean. All that and the price was the same as Petsmart, which never does a good job. Here's why I chose this place: When you first arrive and enter the doors of LaPawz, you're instantly greeted with a smile and enthusiasm. Tim offered a tour of the boarding facilities without my having to ask or set up an appointment. That let me know that they were proud to show their facilities in the current state. On the day of check-in, Tim was very meticulous about writing down every detail of my dog's medication and food schedule as well as allergies. While we were out of town, they sent text messages with pictures giving updates. On the day of check out, Trish was able to give a detailed summary of how my dog behaved during the week. My dog looked happy and acted like his normal self when he came home. Overall, we are very satisfied with LaPawz. I love their online pet portal which you can fill out detailed information about your pet, so that they can refer to it when you're gone. Their prices are fair and comparable to the other pet boarding places in the area. They make you feel like your pet is safe in their hands. After having a very bad experience at another Plano groomer, I took my two Pomeranians to Jacey. She did a fantastic job grooming my pups! I am so happy to have found a groomer that listens and grooms my dogs the way I ask. Also, they have their prices posted on a white board, so you get to pick the level of service you want and there aren't any unexpected charges when you arrive to pick up your dogs. All the ladies at this shop are super nice and really pampered my babies the way I would want them to be treated. Plus, they go the extra mile with bows, bandanas, and even a bow tie for my little male. Adorable!! So glad to have found a fantastic dog groomer! read more

Not the best experience... my dogs hair was choppy and looked very rushed. I arrived only to be handed one of my dogs harnesses that had been peed on? Not sure if it was by my dog or another? Then I leave only to also find one of their collars is missing- this is a pretty expensive collar. My husband then has to go pick up the next day and their explanation was " oh we found it on the floor, not sure how it got there..." thanks for the bow and bandanna but I think I'll be taking my dogs elsewhere next time. read more

My miniature schnauzer had been deadly sick when it was time for me to take him in for grooming (almost lost him to pancreatitis). Had to wait for grooming. After he recovered I had to go out of town for a couple of weeks. By the time I got Boomer in for grooming he was all matted and a mess. They protect each other instead of letting the owner know what's going on. I had a situation and when I made an appointment to see the owner because I wanted to let her know about issues with my dog she decided to make up a story on her own to cover there bad behavior. I've been going to LaPawz for a couple of months now. I've previously had nothing but good things to say about this grooming establishment. After my dog's last visit he returned home with razor burn under his neck. My dog was in pain and very lifeless after his visit. I contacted the groomer and they indicated nothing happened during his visit. The owner was contacted and offered to pay half of his vet bill however they indicated my dog had a previous skin condition of allergies. My dog has never been diagnosed with allergies. This place doesn't value customers as I shouldn't have to pay any portion of a bill that was a result of an injury caused by their establishment. I will never trust my fur baby with them again and animal cruelty should not be tolerated. read more

After having mediocre services at other locations, we took our babies to La Pawz in Plano. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the Owner and she immediately made us feel like she loved our pup. We left to do some running around and when we returned, our dog was so well groomed! They did the cut we asked for and did it without us having to ask for any "touch ups"(which we have had to do at other groomers). The biggest plus was that our pup seemed to be calm and happy. She didn't have that frazzled look in her eyes. The group at La Pawz truly cared not only for our pup, but also for us. We will be making them our go-to groomers from now on! read more

I just recently moved here from out of state, and I was really looking forward to trying this place out (hopefully making this our regular go-to), because of the awesome reviews. Unfortunately, we were never able to find out because the appointment setter was incredibly rude when I called today to confirm my appointment, after having received a text from them showing the incorrect time. After dealing with her aggressive tone and disrespect, I decided to cancel my appointment because I will not trust my dog to be well taken care of if this experience is my first impression of their service.
