This past Friday, April 4th, my boyfriend took our dog Olive to Sparta to receive her regular grooming services. We have brought Olive to Sparta since she was a puppy two years ago to receive grooming services, and have always instructed them to cut her hair as short as they can (she is a maltipoo breed and her hair grows back fast). When picking her up from the appointment, she had been entirely shaved down to where her pink skin was visible all over her entire body. On her head, there were two clear red markings from razor burn above both of her eyes (I have attached a photo from when we returned home Friday). She began scratching these specific areas on her face excessively, leaving large bloody and scabbed areas. We have had to buy a cone and ear cover (to prevent hematomas forming from excessive head shaking due to irritation of her ears) to prevent her from further injuring herself. I reached out to Sparta yesterday with my concerns and requesting a refund, stating we have brought her here multiple times and given the same grooming instructions, but we have never had her entirely shaved down with visible injuries left on her face. I also attached photos in the email with timestamps of previous grooming appointments from the last year to back my claims, along with photos of the razor burn injuries which were a direct result of the grooming appointment. The general manager, Kim Hernandez, reached back out and left a message for my boyfriend, whose phone number is linked to our account. He called back after work today, to which Kim claimed there were in fact no red markings left on Olive's face following the grooming, and that she was scratching her face because she "wasn't used to" the shorter haircut, and that they would not refund the grooming services. Her claims are false. There were clear red markings, razor burn, from the time we picked her up from the appointment that worsened due to the irritation in this specific area. She did not have any other red markings on her body, and she has not been scratching any other part of her body excessively, even with the extremely short length/lack of hair even left. I have also attached photos of how the injuries have progressed, with two photos from Sunday morning and two photos from this afternoon. I find it extremely disappointing that a company we have poured hundreds of dollars into for two years for grooming, boarding, and daycare services to basically blame our dog for the actions of the groomer (Jennifer). I find it disgusting that a facility that is supposed to ensure the health and wellbeing of dogs would so blatantly deny their actions, not even providing an apology for the repercussions on Olive's health. We will not be returning to this facility due to Kim's callous response, and I recommend you would too think twice about having your dog groomed here. read more

Do not recommend this place!This is the worst place EVER to board your pet!We board our two GSD for the weekend and paid extra for them to play extra time with them,when we get there to pick them up on Sunday (which they don't usually do it on Sunday)but they agreed to let us get them back since the crew was going to be there anyway. When we get there NOBODY was there and we NEVER cached anybody on camera through the weekend talking care of them,even one time. My dogs were terrorized once we get there. BTW the lady got there 30 minutes after we did,I asked her where was the other people(employees)she lied and said they were on lunch time (3:30pm). Their beds was soaking in pee. I'm always hesitant leaving our family member behind during vacation. I want the best hands caring for our pup. We've brought our dog here on multiple occasions for day care and it's been great with zero issues. The groomer does a fabulous job as well. She provided us with the perfect groom. Dogs are part of our family and I expect a place that help us take care of our dog to be trust worthy. My dog was viciously attacked at Pet Palazzo! His throat was lacerated that required 7 stables, several different area stitches, and 2 weeks of antibiotics. The staff told us that it was an accident and when we asked for camera footages, they just told us that the other dogs were covering all angles to tell what really happened. Instead investigating the truth of the incident and trying to prevent it from happening again, they are more interested in covering up their liability. I can't even begin to explain how upset I am right now... We dropped Whiskey off at doggy daycare today at Sparta Pet Palazzo . I received a call about 2 hours after I dropped him off to tell me that he had been "playing hard" and had a "minor" puncture wound. They called our vet and scheduled him an appointment before they called me. They told me that they could take him to see the vet "just as a precaution" if I didn't want to come get him. I dropped what I was doing and went and picked him up. They were bathing him when I got there to get the blood off him. The vet said that this was not "rough play". After leaving the vet, I called the daycare and was told the manager was too busy to speak to me. After I threatened legal action, she was suddenly available to take my call. She told me that they viewed the videos and the dogs were "playing the same with each other" and there was "someone in the room watching them". If someone was in the room, why was this allowed to happen? If they were "playing the same", why is my dog the only one injured? If it was "minor", why was it necessary to call the vet BEFORE the dog owner and why were you giving my dog a full body bath to wash the blood off from his "minor" wound? I've reported this to both Plano Animal Services and Plano PD and will be taking civil action against this business. The manager here is hateful and doesn't care one bit about the pets in her care!!! She won't release any information about the dog that bit Whiskey and is not taking any action. THAT MEANS THIS DOG WILL BE ALLOWED TO BITE OTHER DOGS AT DAYCARE AGAIN. Been coming here for a year but service has really gone downhill. Last few haircuts have been mediocre, and this last time they didn't do the one thing that I specifically asked them to make sure to do and were unreasonable when I asked them to fix it. It would have taken them 5 minutes. They wouldn't fix something because their groomers had to leave right on time and couldn't stay even 5 extra minutes to fix...even though it was their mistake. Manager is rude and unreasonable. Not worth putting up with this. And it isn't the first time. I think they have a lot of turnover. Also, they make you sign a long waiver that basically says they are not responsible for ANYTHING that happens to your dog. read more

I will start off by saying that I was refunded for the service which was the very least and only thing that could be done to provide any sort of compensation. However, I feel like our experience needs to be noted so that others can proceed with caution. Sparta gets many great reviews but everyone I have spoken to at local dog parks has had nothing to say but their own unfortunate experiences here as well. We brought our (10 month old at the time) Australian Shepherd here for her very first grooming. The first attempt I stated to please trim her hair shorter but DO NOT shave her. I think I made them nervous by making any sort of request to how I would like her trimmed so when I picked her up it looked like she got nothing but a bath and very harsh clippings around her neck and chest that weren't blended out at all. She looked butchered up top and like nothing was trimmed in the back. They offered to give her another cut to take more off. I dropped her off again and stated multiple more times that I want her to look groomed but please do not shave her. When I was texted 45 minutes after dropping her off that she was "finished" I knew that was hours too fast and that she was shaved. She in fact was shaved down to maybe have an inch long of hair all the way around. I was horrified. It felt as though they did it out of spite for my inconveniencing them to have them cut her a second time. $130+ I don't think having a noticeable groom is too much to ask for. For months people asked me what kind of dog she was... so I guess they showed me! This first time haircut completely ruined the way her undercoat will grow in for the rest of her life. The texture of her fur is ruined. She is now wiry and coarse and nothing like I've ever felt on an Aussie that has been groomed properly. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else's dog. read more

Sparta Pet Palazzo is amazing! We are new customers and went in today for our first grooming appointment. I was a little nervous for our Goldendoodle. She hadn't been groomed since February (because of Covid) and had acquired many matts. But upon my return from work there was nothing to fear, she looks awesome! I can't believe they got her to look as good as they did. Super impressed and happy dog mom! It's hard to find good groomers so I've been sort of stuck with feeling of: this is as good as it will get. Unfortunately yesterday was extremely disappointing. I've wanted a very neat but short cut and every time it's very choppy. I've been able to do it so not sure why the groomers, who are trained, can't get it right. Yesterday instead of sending a quick text or calling to confirm, one groomer didn't trim sterlings tail, then Sadie came out with a comepletely shaved tail that looks like Pinocchio's nose hanging off her back end. Of course you check us out before bringing them out so I paid a tip, but honestly this is getting out of hand. I'll just have to find a different groomer. We boarded our two puppies for 6 days over the 2023 Christmas break. We left a new bag of food. When we picked them up the bag was almost empty. Here are the things I find odd. 1. They are both 4-5 pound puppies and have never eaten that much food in 6 days. 2. One of the pups lost weight and was lethargic when we picked them up. 3. For 3 days after we returned home they both ate an entire bowl of food every time one was placed in front of them. They ate as if they were starving. 4. I checked their cameras a few times while we were on vacation and I never seen anyone's pets in the play areas. I suspect everyone's pets were neglected due to the holidays. I also suspect they either dumped our dog food out to appear as if they had been feeding them or they gave our dog food to other people's pets. read more

Receptionist does not respond to clients, this was a really bad experience we endured. They gave us an appointment which we assumed was for the service and it turned out to just be for NOTHING. This was the second and last time we'll be giving this place a chance since last time they cut my dogs nails too short to the point where it literally hurt her and became painful for her to do anything. I recommend trying to find a safer place for your pets but if you do choose to come here try to get full communication with the employees! read more

We boarded our two German Shepherds here last weekend. It was the first and last time we will use them. As near as we can tell no one was there the entire weekend. We watched the cameras virtually non-stop and not once did we see a person or dog. Making matters worse we paid for three 1:1 play times for each of our girls and saw zero evidence that took place. UPDATE: Since writing my review, the owner of SpartaPalooza gave me a call to find out the details of my concerns. He remembered my dog and other personal things about my family which was quite amazing. He truly apologized for the confusion that happened with the weekend staff. He offered a refund for the difference for my grooming charges between a bath and a full grooming. He kept in touch with me to ensure I got my refund and let me know that they would be thrilled to have my puppy there again. He also stated he would be training with the staff about the concerns, as that is not how that he wants this Center run. There were extenuating circumstances that weekend and I feel very confident that the next time in Dallas we will be visiting them again. It is just so much fun watching your pet on the cameras having a good time at Sparta Palooza. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We signed up for day care for our dog while visiting from out of town. We have never left our pup so we were very cautious and nervous as she can be a handful. The staff was reassuring and as we left, our puppy trotted on and never looked back. We liked that they have the cameras that you can see your dog throughout the day, but they are hard to see and pick out your dog. I would like to have seen more interaction with staff and the dogs in their care. What I saw was 1 staff member with a large amount of dogs and usually standing around, leaning on a counter, or doing chores. I feel they should be interacting with the dogs more, you can see the dogs going up to them. I love that they have water features and brought out the little pools as my dog loves water. The facility is very clean, the staff was very pleasant and they said my dog was awesome, we think so too. She did come home happy and exhausted. She was limping after the first day and had to be kept more quiet the following days, as this was her first time in daycare which may have contributed to her excitement and injury. The lower rating is for the grooming. We asked on one of the days for grooming, thinking it would be standard charges as she is a very short hair, nothing to clip or brush. When we picked her up we were told they could only give her a bath because she acting up so they only washed her, no nail clip or file. They charged me $48 for bath for french bulldog. I highly recommend Sparta for all your grooming, doggie daycare and training needs. We have been taking our 2 year old goldendoodle and 8 year old Maltese to Sparta for 1.5 years for grooming. Reagan and Avery are awesome and love on your dogs. We also use them for doggie daycare - our doodle loves going and always loves to see the people that watch her in doggie daycare. 5 weeks ago we started training Lasorda, our goldendoodle, with their dog trainer Heath. He has worked wonders with a very active 2 year old doodle. She is continuing the training for 5 more weeks. I do wish we would have started training sooner, as she is more manageable now when guests come over and around new people!!! We had to put our two cats up for the day while our house was being worked on. Really didn't want to board at a vet, since they tend to have a small space filled with barking dogs. Sparta has a kitty condo-type of setup for cats that looked perfect when I was searching online. The staff was professional and friendly. They very kindly let me leave the cats in their carriers while we waited for the vet's office to open and finalize the vaccination paperwork. Great communication all around while we got it sorted. The resident cat person took me to see the cat area when I picked them up, and it was completely separate from the dogs and soundproofed. She definitely had the cat whisperer touch when getting them back into their crates gently. It's never an ideal situation when boarding cats as cat people know... but Sparta was a great option for us! read more

Horrible worst business. I called to book appointment my dog grooming 2 weeks before his birthday and I sent out all paperwork his vaccinations and I signed the Services Agreement done. I told them everything you need please call my vet and last minutes they texted me to canceled my dog grooming they didn't tell me why? That's unprofessional and ghetto business. I will never go back. When I booked appointment 2 weeks ago you said everything is ok. My appointment on Tuesday and you texted me on Monday the vaccinations is expired and canceled without let me know. You need to let me know a week early about the vaccinations expired. You guys are so lazy wait to the last minute and canceled my appointment. You guys don't care about customers. We took our dog in for the "meet and greet" day with intentions to board this weekend. When I picked up our dog he was limping, I brought it to their attention and was told "it was rough play". That evening our dog didn't walk around much but we chalked it up to a day of playing. The next morning, our dog was unable to walk to go outside. We examined his paws and found them both to be ripped up and he was unable to put pressure on them. We had to physically carry our 80lbs dog into the car and the vet. I have called and alerted Sparta who said they would review tapes, I haven't heard back. My concern for our dog and how he got such severe injuries is my worry for other pups!! Was it poorly maintained facilities? Lack of supervision? Hoping to hear back, and will update as I do. read more

We recently rescued a German Shepherd, we found out that he isn't really interested in playing with other dogs. Instead he loves people and would rather follow a person more...that being said...I really appreciate that Sparta helped socialize my dog with other pups, he has gotten so much better at playing. Hopefully with more time, the only problem we'll have now is that he'll be exhausted from having too many doggy friends! The staff is very friendly, telling me how his day went and giving me a "report card" on his first day really made this worried dog mom calm down. I also appreciate that when we walked in to our 2nd day at Sparta, they all greeted him by name! We even found out he loves/knows how to swim!! Sparta attended a dog event, and I mentioned on their Facebook page that we would try to make it before the event ended. I ended up going 30 minutes before the event was over, and they saved me their last goody bag because they wanted to make sure that Brody (my GSD) had one. Currently we live 20 minutes to and from Sparta, and I make the drive to Plano just so my pup can enjoy his day! We've contacted other doggy day care facilities in hopes to find somewhere closer to home, we got some information, but none of them compares to Sparta. This is the place to go! read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. I called to reserve boarding on Monday. I was told to fill out a new client form online and requested the days I needed boarding. Called the next morning to confirm and my room wasn't held even though I did exactly what they asked. I even called to confirm and was then told no space, they didn't reach out to me with the issue. Do not use if you need to make sure you have boarding. Their hold system isn't first come first serve. read more

We have loved starting this service. It is every other Monday and it has made our yard more inviting, and easier to use. If we need to change our service date for an event, it can be done online or with a quick and friendly call to the staff. Sparta Pet Palazzo is a lifesaver! We have a 1.5 year old black lab and have been taking her here for daycare (and boarding) since she was about 6 or 7 months old. She has been able to go to daycare and get her energy out in a safe place with staff that cares about her. They're so sweet to her and it makes me happy leaving her there. We also used Sparta for training for 10 weeks and they were amazing! Pricing was good, and they did a great job. She is great at walking on and off leash now and is a respectable member of dog society in public. Highly recommend Sparta! read more

Most importantly to note, our puppy has alwayscomes back in the same healthy state she was dropped off. Where there is room for improvement at this place are the following steps: -when you are told you want your dogs nails clipped/grinder, it should take only once to document. Our last two times I have told different people up front at different times to please grind the nails prior to pick. Our first time as well as last week it was not done. This is after a minimum of 3 times validating each time with different people on two different stays. At least the first time we were able to wait 20 mins since the dog trimmer was present. Secondly, you advertise heavy on the dog cams. Please fix room 3 since it seems this is where a lot of the dogs stay. We checked our puppy out a dozen times this past week and saw her once. These are very easy organizational and common sense measures. After $350 for a week's stay, it would have been nice to see our dog more than once. Other than that, the people are friendly and the place seems very clean. read more

My husband and I just adopted a 10 week Doberman pincher puppy! We had been looking for a few places that would be able to care for our little guy during the mid-day since both my husband and I work. Most pet places do not take puppies unless they are fully vaccinated and neutered. After endless searching, we came across Sparta and fell in love !!! The owners personally took their time to meet me as well as call me and accommodate all my questions and concerns. I have never been taken care of so much! They are the ONLY doggy day care facility that I know of that has In Home Pet Siting services. The sitter was phenomenal , and took such great care of our pup. The amazing staff, clean facility, and friendly pets make Sparta Pet Palooza my go to for boarding. We boarded our Great Dane and lab mix here back in December and were blown away by their amazing staff. They truly go above and beyond. We reserved a private room so they would have plenty of room. Our dane can also get pretty nervous away from home, so I suggest this to anyone with a pet who may have slight anxiety. The daycare was truly a must have for us, our pups got to play all day with other dogs which ensured a good nights rest. The room we reserved also included cameras, what a great piece of mind to check in while you're away! Great place! My dogs always come home TIRED! The yards they have are huge for both big and small dogs to play in. Love the cameras. You can watch all the pups play inside or out. I experienced one negative interaction with Sparta which occurred during a stressful time for all parties. However, the matter was handled in such a manner by both the owners and groomer that I chose to delete my review. I followed my groomer Raegan to Sparta from another groomer. She is the most talented groomer in this area. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen but it's how they are handled which matters the most. I cannot say enough praise about Sparta pet care! I'm new to the area and was very nervous about leaving my fur babies. I have a 7 year old goldendoodle that has never been boarded and a 10 year old bishon that I recently inhereted. Before I made my decision I was able to tour the entire facility and found it is beautiful, spacious and clean!!!!! The thing that sold me most was the hours- I have never found a facility with the hours that are catered to the needs of the animals. The last time they are taken out is 9pm and someone is there to let the fur babies out by 6:30 am! I got daily updates and extra pictures from Juliana!!
