I hate to leave bad reviews, but something is going on here. My dog was bitten while doing doggie daycare on Friday. I don't believe it was playful either. This sounded like an aggressive dog situation. We have gone to this Pappy's for years (even when they were on Ohio), but I can't send my dog back there in good faith. No one from Pappy's has called to check on Summer and when they sent me a survey link, mysteriously, it didn't work they said they were having software issues. Anywho, they took her to a vet Friday after the attack (since we were out of town and she needed emergency care), but they didn't stitch her up. That was no cost to us, but they did still charge us for the boarding that should have been comped. We took her to her normal vet on Tuesday and she had surgery yesterday, stitches and a Penrose drain placed. $1800 out of our pocket. Also, a couple months ago, when we picked her up from getting groomed, she was acting like something was in her eye. The next day I took her to the vet to have that checked, and she had trauma to the eye. I don't know if that happened w the groomer or daycare afterward, but nothing was said to me on pickup and I gave them the benefit of the doubt that accidents happen. Now after this, no more Pappy's. I just don't get the feel that this place is professional and safely managed anymore. read more

We've been taking our dogs to Pappys for years, but the quality and attitude of the staff has deteriorated and now become intolerable. I once thought they were the the best but now consider them amongst the worst. The attitude of staff is non caring at best and cruel at worst. Given the prices they charge one would think your animals are well taken care The last few times and (especially today) when we got them home at 3:30, they got out of our car and peed for nearly 2 minutes. It was clear the staff did not let them out to urinate for many hours. Horrible! The worst part; the dismissive, smug and "I don't give a d**m attitude"of the staff. No smiles, no greeting and no thank you. They are a miserable bunch to be sure. We really don't care about pleasantries but care a lot our about our dogs. For these reasons we will NEVER take them to Pappys again. Advice; you need completely new leadership and fire every one on the front desk staff and likely the people in the back who lock up dogs and don't even let them pee. I will be calling the city of Plano in the morning as an inspection is in order. If you care about your dog, Pappys is last place you should leave them. read more

My dogs have been going to pappys for 10 years and we never had any problems. The only thing was my senior dog had bladder issues and I was watching her on the cameras and noticed she had an accident in her bed and called them to removed the rug she peed on because it was 6:30 and they don't close until 7 but no one answered my multiple calls and voicemail and then the lights shut off before closing time and she had to sleep in pee. So I ultimately decided to switch to a facility that has 24/7 surveillance for emergencies especially for senior pups! read more

I love the groomer here! We have been before and she did a great job. On top of that the front of staff is super helpful. I recently talked to Darcy about pricing and the best way to keep my new puppy comfortable and she really took a significant chunk of time to talk to me about what grooming process can be like and even gave me some tips (like coconut oil) on the spots of my dog's coat that have become a little tangled from the vet cone. Thank you!! I feel a lot more at ease and so appreciate the attention to detail. I will definitely be staying put at this location for grooming. read more

My dog went to the daycare on Monday, 3/10, came back home around 7PM. Starting 9PM, she started to experience cluster seizures, which was an emergency. Starting that night and in the following days, she was brought to Urgent Vet, primary vet, and eventually a Vet Hospital ICU. After several days of thorough exams including MRI, Xray, and ultrasounds, she was diagnosed with intracranial hematoma Thursday evening, and several tests needed to be done to rule out different diseases. As soon as I learned it's intracranial hematoma, I did some research online and found that the top 1 cause of brain bleeding in dogs is trauma. So I contacted the facility asking for video footage on Saturday, 3/15, which is their business hours. The manager called me back the following Monday. In the next few conversations I had been told only 72 hours of video footage is available. However, on their camera service providers' website(WatchMeGrow), it says 2 to 8 weeks video footage is available. So I sent the facility a written notice asking to preserve the footage. The general manager responded that 7 calendar days video is available, and when they checked on Monday, the earliest available date was Tuesday, 3/11, which happened to be the next day after 3/10. Well, first, they are not consistent with how many days of video footage is available, which feels like they are either not transparent with it or not knowledgeable enough about their camera system. Should there be a company policy/protocol on how to handle this kind of request? Things happen when dogs play, it would not be uncommon for dog owners wish to check. Second, the video was still available when I first called on Saturday. If they put clients' benefits as the top priority, they could login and preserve the videos right away. Imagine if this were your own dog, what would you do? Third, as of today, all the following tests returned back normal. What's causing the intracranial hematoma is idiopathic now. My dog needs to take the anti-seizure medication for at least a year then re-evaluate. At the end of the day, I am just so glad that she is still with me and as happy as before. It was heart breaking in the first few days, when the Vet thought it was a brain tumor, which would be only 3-4 months left. Lastly, I am not sure if I can trust a boarding/daycare facility in the future. Their nature is a for-profit business. When there is a potential conflict of interest, it's hard to believe they would put clients benefits as the top priority. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE: I dropped off Zoey at 0800 hours on Monday, got a call at about 1042 hours from the manager saying that another dog bit zoey and that if I wanted to I could come pick her up for the vet. I was told, however, that the wound was cleaned, not bleeding, and that zoey was fine and that she was able to return to daycare. I was even sent a picture of the wound once it was cleaned, but the picture does not show how deep the wound really was. Because it seemed so minor, I agreed and asked that they just keep an eye on her and if she didn't get better or got worse, to tell me and I would come get her. 6 HOURS LATER no update, so I texted Madyson (the manager) for an update and I was told "she's still bleeding" so I immediately picked up zoey. By that time, vets were closed so I had to drop off zoey in the morning the next day and the wound was so deep she needed 4 stitches. Corporate reached out to me stating that they are not responsible for pet injuries and even sent me videos of "the incident" where it it completely unclear when zoey gets bit, no way to prove if another dog really bit her. Had another dog bitten her, I would have been able to get that owners information to handle medical costs. However, no one is being held responsible and the management team has been completely lacking in moral judgment. My dog was injured on their property and no one can prove how, and she bled for 6 hours without me being notified, and the injury was severely downplayed. I am receiving not financial compensation for my animal being injured on their property, by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I will never trust my baby with these people ever again. read more

I was with my mother on Sunday June 13, 2021 when we picked up her two dogs following a nine night board at this facility. The pick up was delayed as the facility had to "clean up the dogs feet," to quote the worker. Come to find out what they were trying to clean up was urine and feces the dogs were covered in. They didn't clean them up, the just hosed them off making the smell unbearable to drive home. When a white dog's fur is yellow on her paws, belly, and neck something is wrong with this picture. We had to immediately take them to a self-service dog bath to bathe them. While bathing them the first rinse with water was nothing but urine washing away. Both collars were soaked in urine as well. They had to be discarded. Upon speaking with the front desk after two calls on Sunday, their response was "we're sorry this happened." Today, is Wednesday and the dogs still will not eat. They have been uncharacteristically lethargic. When a customer spends close to $600 to have you care for their animals, they expect them to be returned in good care, acting the same as when they were dropped off. These actions are completely unacceptable and this facility will never be used again. read more

We absolutely love this South Plano location of Pappy's. Our boy Simba is a mixed-breed one-year-old, and he gets so excited to go to doggy day care. We also board him there from time to time, and he gets along great. He likes the staff, interacts well with the other dogs, and things could not be better. I lived down the street from this location for a few years. Millie (my yorkie) and I recently moved to San Diego, but I will miss the convenience of having a top notch boarding facility right next door. With my old job, I travelled weekly, and making appointments online with Pappy's was very easy. Millie was always ready for pick-up when promised. They were also flexible in letting me pay by phone and having someone else pick her up if I was going to get home after business hours. Millie was always excited about "going to school" as we called it, seeing her be excited about going there was the best part. We will miss the crew at Pappy's S Plano. read more

Just spoke Madison, she is one of the managers there. I called over a month ago to book a boarding reservation, and this is the second time I don't receive a email or a text confirming my days booked. Had I not called to check (bc this has happened before) I would be in a mess. Her "I'm sorry" was very sincere though...yeah right. They didn't try to help do anything else, not even try and call one of the other locations to see if they could take us. I really like this place but here lately, it's been a disappointment. I love Pappy's but specifically this location for two reasons: the facilities & the staff. I like that this location has outside space for the dogs to run and play. That being said, I love the staff: Holly, Chelsea, and Jon. I feel like they love my dogs and listen to me if I have any special requests. read more

I LOVE Pappy's and my pet has been grooming and boarding there for about 3 years now (the old location & the new one). He ALWAYS comes home happy, and I've NEVER had any issues with them or any of the staff. I was extremely grateful for them during the power outages in February, as they remained open and took in pets, including mine, who had no heat! Staff STILL made the trek to care for the animals, some from Frisco. Their prices are fantastic, their runs are large, and their staff love animals. Win/win for me. read more

I took both of my puppies there for a three night stay apparently they say that one of my puppies urinated in the kennel and had to have two baths in one day when I picked the dog up he look like he didn't have a bath he had mats all around his neck I would never take my dogs here again read more

Have been a client of this chain since 2006. Trusted them with 5 family dogs. Last week I brought them a special needs shelter adoption for training and daycare. What a disappointment!!! I was made to feel unwanted as a client after 3 training and daycare visits. My special needs dog did not fit the cookie cutter training program of their independent contractor trainer and in house daycare staff despite having virtually no dogs during the Covid-19 shut down. So much for loyalty to long term clients. Go elsewhere if you expect specialized help for your needs. read more

So my first time boarding my baby. She is a huge Rottweiler and they took her in with open arms. She's a good girl but we are besties so I felt terrible leaving her and was worried how she would do! I was able to watch her play with the other pups and watched her eat and sleep. I even took in her bed from home so she was comfortable. So of coarse I'm happy if she's happy! That's NOT it!!! The staff was amazing when I returned from my trip I was very sick. I had to make sure my kids were off to school and I just could not get to her early enough. They kept her another day and allowed me to have someone pick her up (husband her 4th favorite person) that was not who dropped her off. They gave her a great bath and I couldn't be happier for our first time here. We will be back!! read more

Only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the staff was nice. Other than that do not take your dogs here. I took my dogs here for my wedding vacation because it was extremely close to my home. Also it reads #1 pet lodge so I gave it a shot. They stayed 4 nights and 5 days. When I picked them up they seemed fine. When we got home my dog brownie had sores all on his nose and bottom jaw, under his chest as well and one of his little moles completed ripped off. He had blood on his snout, feet, as well as his jaw. As I called to express how upset I was they told me they didn't notice any bleeding and that on day 5 he was being "door aggressive." I spoke with the manager John and all he could say was sorry.. I also took there own beds so they would feel a little at home. The beds smelled absolutely terrible and when I mentioned this to management he said "they forgot to wash them." It was just excuse after excuse. There was no solution! Our dog was not well cared for and left to sit in his mess when they didn't take him out to potty (webcam picture to prove it). VERY disappointed in the neglect of my dog. After complaining and sending the picture to the manager, he admitted to not having enough staff. Thank goodness my dog was only there for 1 day. Will definitely NOT be back. Pappy's (East Plano location) staff clearly love what they do and take care of your fur baby the same way you would! We adopted a rescue a few months ago. She loves people but gets a little anxious/excited around other dogs so boarding her had me worried. I explained the concern and her background to their staff and asked for them to gently work with her on socializing with other dogs but we understand if she needs to be walked separately. Upon arriving to pickup I asked and everyone commented about how well she'd done AND that they take any aggression or noted concern very seriously by making notes and even a special colored paper for the dog to ensure all staff know how to best care for your (and others) dog. They even give you a report card about their eating and playing. Will absolutely be taking our dog back and may take advantage of day care options too! They also have grooming and training at this location. Very clean, very quiet. Highly recommend! read more

Nice facilities, but bait and switch pricing that makes this one of the most expensive boarding places in all of Dallas. Basically all other boarding places includes letting your dog out during the for play time. NOT HERE. Unless you pay an additional $15/day your poor dog is left in their room all day which is already $42/day. So you are paying over $70 with tax per night and they charge you for full night even if you pick them up before 4:00 pm on pick up day..... read more
