My 5-year-old "puppy," Trouble, and I absolutely love Top Paw Resort for both daycare and occasional boarding. He attends daycare three times a week and gets visibly excited every time we turn the corner in that direction--he knows exactly where we're headed! This doggy boarding/day care is exceptional. I have two very different dogs. One 8 year old husky:lab mix that is a grumpus and a 3 year old German shepherd that has the energy of a tornado. They are taken care of so well here and it is great they have a doggy cam to be able to see your pets while you are away. They always are both tired from all the fun and activity from daycare or their boarding. The owner is so great at knowing each owner/dog as well. Although they are popular and have lots of dogs at daycare, they are attentive to each and every dog. My 8 year old pup sometimes likes his space from a large group of dogs. They were able to notice that he seemed overwhelmed by all the dogs at some point and gave him the space he wanted. This is the key things that make them so great. It is exactly what I would of wanted and love that they were able to pick up on his signs of wanting some space before joining the pack of dogs again. Also huge bonus that they offer baths for dogs as well. Highly HIGHLY recommended this place if you are needing a doggy daycare or boarding. read more

Being first time dog owners we were a little hesitant to put our pup in daycare, especially with our pup having separation anxiety. Top Paw has went above and beyond, our pup loves to come here and play. Comes home and goes right to bed! The staff is great and they even remember his name even if we just bring him once a week! I was in great need of a boarder for my dog over the Christmas holiday. Based on Yelp reviews and it being close to my home I took my medium sized dog to Top Paw Resort. I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who check my pup in and took specific note of my dog's eating habits and special requests. Over the holiday I watched my dog from their dog cameras and saw her playing as well as running all her beagle energy out. Even when it snowed, I saw a team member walking with the dogs through the snowy yard and encouraged them to play. I had ordered upon my pick up the spa package (bath, brush and nail trim) and when I picked her up, she was smelling so fresh and her fur so soft. She was tired for two full days after her stay. I am only ranking this four stars because this was my dog's first time here, but fingers crossed in the future when I take her here, I'm just as pleased. :) read more

We used to be loyal customers, always had a good experience and never received any report other than he did great, is compliant, loves to play, gets along with all the dogs, etc. He'd been going there since he was a puppy. Then out of the blue, last time I picked him up from boarding (summer vacation) I was told by the manager that he is not welcome back because he is too aggressive. Since then I've boarded him twice at another place and no issues with aggression. I take him to the dog park all the time and he's always the most submissive one of the bunch. ***For dogs who like personalized attention and have separation anxiety please read*** I chose this place after touring 10+ facilities because when I walked in, it was very clean and the staff seemed very nice. I missed the first red flag when I took my dog here for her first day and the owner didn't even greet me while he was standing behind the counter (it was a slow day) The employees who work here (most of them are very nice and good people) are not trained. If you have a dog that likes individualized attention and needs separation from a pack, do not take them here. There is one person that will be in the yard with 65+ dogs (I counted the ones I could see on camera) and there's no assisting with dogs that are stressed out from the environment. My younger dog would come home and sleep for 12 hours because she was so stressed out. Anyone that knows dogs should be able to notice this and address it with me or with by getting the dog into a more comfortable area. I once had to call in because I saw my dog being "reintroduced to the group because she thought there was more fun on the other side of the fence." The owner made sure to first tell me she wasn't put in timeout (a bogus "aggressive rule" to protect regulars which ultimately can be used to protect their revenue stream). If you knew anything about these animals you'd know there's no reintroducing needed. My dog was stressed out and needed to regroup but instead was thrown back into an uncomfortable situation. It's also good to note that I question their cleaning on the turf outside. Every day I would bring my dog home, she smelled like urine, almost like they never washed off the turf. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the lobby and building are updated and modern. The dog suites looked very clean and we're good sizes. The best thing I've done is switched facilities to a place where the owner cares about their furry clients. The difference in her demeanor after just a week at the new place is mind blowing and reassures everything about how Top Paw handles business. Despite all of the good reviews, make sure you do your homework on this place because this is not a good place for a majority of dogs. The 2 weeks I tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt were 2 weeks too long. read more

We've boarded our black lab mix Buddy here a few times and each time it's been great. We were able to tour the facility beforehand so we knew our dog was in a good, clean environment. We like that the cost for boarding at night includes daytime play time-- other places we have been to it's extra and that seems a bit ridiculous to me. Why would I board my dog just so he would stay cooped up all day?! The rooms are spacious and there's a large area outside for dogs to run and play in. There's an inside room also for when the weather isn't cooperating -- it's not overly big but it's a good size! What I really enjoy there is the people. They greet each dog by name and seem to enjoy our 4-legged friends. When I've called to see how Buddy is doing, they're always happy to give me an update (they have cameras too but it costs money to download the app and as of now I haven't done that). I feel quite comfortable leaving my dog at Top Paw. Highly recommend. read more

Called to book an appointment since we now live very close by, but was told I can't bring my dogs here because he may be a pit bull** , and "bully" breeds aren't allowed. Supposedly it's an insurance thing, but he's allowed at another facility in the area, and not once in the four+ years since we adopted him have we encountered this at a playcare/boarding facility. If pets are your business, you should be joining in the fight against discriminatory practices like ignorant insurance companies banning certain breeds for no good reason. It's the right thing to do, and it's common sense. Because anyone who would abuse and neglect their animal to the point they'd want to fight is probably not going to spend the money to board them at an expensive, cushy facility with shade and A/C and treats. And it's also not even fully enforced, because I see a pic/mention below of a boxer, which is also a bully breed. Along with french bulldogs and boston terriers...but I bet those are allowed, too. Frankly, my 11-lb fluffy geriatric white dog is meaner than my large dog with the block head. So Top Paw, if you'd like to change your policy (or do what it takes to make your insurance company change their policy), I'd love to help. It's offensive and discriminatory, and it shouldn't be the way business is done in 2016. There are several area organizations that can help you become educated. Patrons of Top Paw: Even if you don't have a bully breed dog (or if you have a bully breed that they make an exception for and allow, which obviously happens), take a stand and go somewhere else. What if it were your dog who was prohibited from staying there? If communities stand together, we can help bring fairness back to how we're all treated by businesses and legislators. This is a scary precedent of unfairness and intolerance that none of us should stand for. ** We don't know for sure what breed he is because he's a rescue and, just like our other two rescue dogs, we've never had them DNA tested. If your Dog is intact... DO NOT, under any circumstances take him to Top Paw Resort. We had an emergency and had to board our pup... The place we typically take him is closed on Sunday, so we were in search of a new place. When I spoke to the young lady on the phone, she said Our dog would be taken outside to play every hour for 20 minutes & since he wasn't allowed with the other dogs the staff would play with him & give him extra attention. Upon arriving, we received this huge lecture about our dog being intact & how we were exposing him to all kinds of health risks. Already leaving in a new place, having an emergency... Not a great way to leave. *There are reasons for leaving a young dog intact, development & breeding. Because of weather we were delayed returning home & had to leave him an additional night. The young lady that I spoke with said no problem I'll even make sure that he gets to run in the big yard when the other dogs are put away. When I called to check on him the next day they made sure to tell me that he was having a terrible time and that if I had only neutered him he would be having a blast with all the other dogs. When I came to pick my pup up he was so happy to see me and I was so happy to see him. And as I was paying the bill they made sure to tell me what a terrible time he had because he was intact and What an amazing time he could've had with the other dogs if he too had been fixed. So I asked well if every other dog in your facility was fixed why didn't you just let them play together.? This is where it gets good... They say here is where we are going to educate you... Evidently you are unaware that when an intact dog is in a group with other dogs that have been fixed they hone in on him and they will attack him and send him out of their pack... Really??? Because that doesn't happen ever at our usual place. He plays and has a blast! Then he gives me a recommendation of another facility that specializes in dogs that are intact... Because we really aren't set up to take the best care of them. No kidding!?! How about the recommendation before I leave my pup... How about you don't take dogs that are intact!!! Then the young man, Scott, let's me know that he made a notation that he didn't have fun & shouldn't come back unless he has been neutered. No worries, my Dog will NEVER come here again regardless! And my dog leaves with an injury to his nose that they neglected to inform me about. That just about Tops it off. read more

My boy Stitchy has gone here for years. The staff is the best around. They love him like he is their own. I recently went out of the country for three weeks and both boys had to be boarded for about 12 days here. The staff had pics on their phones of my babies, and I saw them playing on the cameras while away. They got baths and treats and were very well cared for in my absence. Stitchy goes for Day Care and is so eager to get out of the car, I practically have to restrain him when we get close to the parking lot. Sometimes I think he loves Mr. Scott more than he loves me. I have recently discovered Top Paw Resort as it is only 5 minutes from my house. I have been a loyal Barney's Ranch customer and continue to be but this is a nice alternative those mornings when I am running late. The staff here is really nice and you will not find a cleaner or updated facility anywhere in Dallas. Must be mentioned that they just opened so that attributes to the fresh clean feel. They have a goal to be a green facility and use filtered water. Those types of things I think make more of a difference to the owners than dogs (but I am one of those owners). With the Texas heat you have to be very careful that the staff of any daycare facility has the common sense on how to ration outdoor play time, I feel that the do a great job here. Prices are on level with their competitors. The webcam is always working and clear....but hard to see details since their outdoor play area is so huge. My pup is not as tired when I pick her up from Top Paws as other day-cares, but I attribute that to TP being extra careful and not letting the dogs over exert themselves in the summer heat. read more

These guys are so friendly - they literally KNOW EVERY SINGLE DOGS NAME and treat them as if they were their own. They always give me a report on what my dog did that day, and they let you watch them on webcam. The facility is very clean, they are very sensitive to the weather conditions in determining whether dogs stay in or out, and most importantly, my dog gets SUPER excited whenever she sees we're taking her to Top Paw. We've been taking Hemingway to TPR for six years now. In that time, we've added Heidi to our family and she's been going for almost 2 years. I decided to update my review because in the six years we have been trusting our dogs to Scott, Rachel, Sarah, Brian, Thomas (shout out to the old days), Jerry (the MASTER groomer), and the rest of their awesome staff, we have never had any major issues. Hemingway loves going and Heidi is never more tired than she is after a day at Top Paw. We've boarded and doggie daycared here and there is never a time I've had to worry about their care. The staff seriously goes above and beyond to care for your pet. I know there are other places nearby that are less expensive, but with all the amenities and care this place offers...you truly get what you pay for and much more. The prices have gone up a little bit since 2012 but they have proven that they provide outstanding service...the increase was not even an issue. The single day playcare pass is $25.00 which is pretty much the standard for the area. If you haven't taken your dog to Top Paw, you should try it! This is the BEST place for you dog to play. read more

After boarding my dog here a week ago, I can safely say this is a great place. My dog is still young (6 months), and unfortunately I have to board her from time to time as I travel for work. I boarded her about a month ago at a boarder in the DFW area that had good reviews, but after picking her up, she was sick and lethargic for 3 days after I picked her up. I don't know if it was something at the boarder that caused her to be sick, but I decided to try Top Paw this time around. After picking her up after a 5 day stay, she was in good health and excited to come home. The staff at Top Paw are great, and I fully intend on using Top Paw again in the future. I have boarded my dog here once when I was out of town for 11 days and another time for 3 days, and I will be dropping her off her today for a 4 day stay....I am overly protective of my dog, as most dog owners are..... and really don't trust just ANYONE to take care of her to my liking.. EXCEPT Top Paw when I'm out of town.... I love that she gets her own little suite and that the staff caters to her loner ways (she's getting old and isn't that crazy about play time with other dogs....so the staff makes time to go play with her and pet her by herself when they have the time.... I LOVE THAT special touch) I had planned to let a friend watch her this time BUT the comfort I have when she is at top paw is what makes being able to go on vacation for a few days without worry worth it. The staff is friendly and they carry out the instructions that you ask for them too for your dog.... I have NEVER had a problem with her condition or temperment when picking her up..... It's the only place that I trust as of right now.... I've worked at a dog boarding facility and this place is AWESOME compared to what is out there( or the places I've seen). They allow me to call in and get check up info on her...They are just a GREAT staff and remove a huge stress of having to find the right care for my dog when I'm out of town.... in the beginning, we did have a pretty bad experience after leaving our baby here for 2 weeks. unfortunately, we were going out of country for 2 weeks, and we couldn't find anyone to watch our pup for 2 weeks. we picked her up after 2 wks, and we were not happy with our pup's condition. however, 2 wks off out of our care, and leaving her in hands of others with other dogs, i do understand that they can't do everything for each and every dog. the owner contacted me personally, and showed that they really cared for each dog. they do try their best, and they do pretty good at what they do. I was very surprised and impressed with the staffs' effort to help me out, they were very personable. i would give another try at this resort. i work in a healthcare industry serving others, and service does make a lot of difference in the outcome. and their staffs did went beyond to help me out. read more

My puppy is only 4 months old and has a ton of energy. We took him to Top Paw Resort and left him for a full day for the first time this week. He really needed to be social with other dogs and get all of that energy out. He absolutely loved it! He was snoring in the car on the way home. We started taking our puppy Ripley here several months ago after reading all the positive Yelp reviews, and now we wouldn't consider taking her anywhere else. From Day 1, Top Paw made us (especially Ripley) feel like part of their family. They always seem excited to see her and greet her by name when she walks in the door. Their customer service is beyond compare. You can clearly see that everyone who works here enjoys their job and LOVES dogs. Additionally, each day we take her you can see that Ripley had the best doggie day ever (and that means we have the best puppy parent evening ever because she is WORN OUT!). We have boarded two of our frenchies here a few times when we have gone out of town for extended vacations. The staff is always happy to see them and have frenchies themselves so they know what special care they need during warm months. We love that they offer doggie cams but would like clearer views or more cameras. Perhaps HD would help. There are multiple large dog areas and one small dog area that you can view when they have the dogs outside playing. There is also an indoor play area with a camera. They are reasonably priced - $45 for two dogs per night and offer an additional discount for 10 days or more. There are not a ton of options near where we live, so we are happy to drive out of the way to bring our dogs here when we have to leave them behind. read more

There is so much room for the big dogs. All have been temperament tested and there is someone with them at all times. In the summer they bring out the wading pools and there is even a misting tent. After extensive research about doggy day care and accidently running into the Top Paw, I decided to bring my little pup for a play day. He is young and full of energy and I wanted him to play rather than be stuck at home. Of course, as you can imagine, my pup is my little "kid". I took him early in the morning and picked up after work. He played well and despite being in the yard with big dogs, he behaved! I watched him on the web camera and called the resort to check on him. When I got to pick him up, he was worn out. Wow, I had my evening to myself that day after 2 months of non-stop play times after coming back from work. My little one was so tired, it took him 2 days to rest! I am a happy mama and will bring him back again for playdates. One thing I would mention though - I wish the cameras were better quality to spot him as it was hard sometimes and cameras froze. The crew is excellent though. Scott was very attentive during touring the facility and he and Rachel both with other guys and girls were absolutely great! I felt like my pup was well taken care of and treated well. My friends are coming now to bring their dogs! :) Forgot to mention - the place is very clean and with that many dogs being there, there is no strong smell at all, which was a huge plus as I didn't want my pooch come home stinking. I walked in some stinky places before..... Hope your pooch enjoys the play date. read more
