As a former employee of one of various locations, I got to see a lot of what goes on in management and staff. The dog counselors were mostly uneducated teens and the management had 0 care for its employees. One counselor should never be in charge of 25 dogs at a time. Understaffed, underpaid, and most of the counselors didn't bother watching the dogs. While I was there I witnessed many scuffles and many situations that were poorly handled. With nearly 20 dogs in one room with a window, there was a woman walking by the window and naturally all the dogs began pushing and shoving their way towards the window to bark and get a better view. They began getting agitated and I tried to distract them with a sharp loud noise, but according to management this was abuse and I was let go. While working there, management would also consistently fail to communicate with their employees or disregard their concerns about rusty crates or old equipment. I would not recommend wasting your money here as the owner has proven to be cheap and the outside fence is FAR too small for any number of dogs, much less now that the fence is broken. I haven't visited in a while but I hope they fixed that fence at least, but with how cheap the owner was and how he absolutely dismissed my concerns about rusty crates that had sharp edges and broken doors? I doubt he was very fast on it. The user interface for employees is complicated and never properly updated, so you better know every dog by name immediately because the list of dogs is never correct on the website. If you consider getting a job here? Don't. Management is very lackluster in communication and very rarely do they follow up on things they claim will benefit the company. If you consider leaving your dog here, be careful. Please get a tour and get to know the staff first. Different locations have different standards, but for the love of all that is holy please make sure you know what you're getting into and don't buy the package deal unless you KNOW they will uphold it because the stories of people getting scammed out of their package deals is in fact very true. No shade to those who love the dogs, but please management...get better at fixing your systems for employees and customers. Communication is important. My pup Whiskey had the very best time here! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and caring of both you and your pet! My 6 mo old boxer puppy has been participating in their training Karma Dog program for the past month or so as well as their doggie day care! In training, the trainers have taken the time to work with me and my puppy personally each time and has shown so much improvement! Today was her first day in doggie day care (7am-7pm) and the staff was so helpful providing me updates of her new friends, participation, mood and more- I even got a pet report card at the end of the day! I signed my pup up for 5 more days of daycare so I can get on track at work and I feel so good/confident that my pup is being well monitored, exercised and played with. I deliver packages to the one on preston and park sometimes, every time i walk in i get blasted with the smell of hot humid fermenting piss and . Its literally the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled, and the kids in the front just sitting there like it's fine and dandy. I def wouldn't take my dog there if my life depended on it. My friends and I are planning on taking some trips and wanted to learn more about Dogtopia in Plano. I went there personally to see the business, learn more about boarding and talk with someone about how it worked. I was met by Don, the General Manager and experienced a very confrontational, negative response to my questions. His attitude, lack of professionalism and caustic attitude was, unfortunately, a great example of poor customer service. Dogtopia in Plano looks like a good place to board... however, I'm concerned that after experiencing that kind of negative attitude ... We used to bring our dog before they closed and reopened. Called to ask what was needed to bring her again and was told only a temperamental test and updated vaccines (seems they had all her info saved). Got there at the time of our appointment, waited a bit for the lady at front desk to get off the phone just to be told we had no appointment and later were told our appointment was scheduled for Tuesday (when we are both working) so after going back and forth and waiting 15 minutes we were told they cannot take her and we had to wait another 20 minutes! For starters the people working here were fantastic! Clearly they love pups and love what they do! My problem is that I purchased a 10 day pack that I never got to use, not even one day of it. I purchased the pack shortly after introducing my dog last summer, before we used even 1 day of the package, Dogtopia of Plano closed, do to Covid related issues. I wasn't too worried, I assumed (poor choice on my part) that I would be able to use the package when they reopened in a month or two. When they did finally re-open many months later, unknown to me I couldn't use my package. I took my pup to get reintroduced and when checking out I was informed my package didn't get credited, because it is new ownership, and I owed for that day. After I told them I wasn't aware it didn't roll over, they did give me that day for free, and told me how to request a refund. I requested the refund from the previous owner, and followed up a few months later when I hadn't heard a word. The current owner explained that he was informed by the previous owner "virtually all outstanding passes and package balances were refunded." The Franchisor was informed of my issue and he provided the previous owner's name and number. I immediately called and Paul, the previous owner, and he did answer and told me he'd get back to me shortly. He never did. I called several more times, my phone number was blocked. This is POOR, POOR business. If Paul had just told me he ran on hard times because of covid, if that is even what I going on here, I would have been extremely understanding, but instead lying to me that he'd get back to me and blocking my number, just angered me. I understand business, I understand this is a franchise, but they are using the Dogtopia name, so to me, I feel there should be a bit of accountability. No one offered a monetary credit, no one offered a credit of days, instead I just "donated" $260 to the previous owner, and the current owner and the franchisor washed their hands of the situation. read more

This place was really good at first and then their excellent trainer quit and suddenly they don't speak dog anymore. I spent time watching on their cameras and did not feel safe keeping my dog there. I mentioned what made me uncomfortable that I saw with my own eyes on the camera and was lied to. The marketing does not match reality. read more

This is a great place for your dog to spend the day or the night. I spent a ton of time researching daycare and have used a few others (with my other dogs), but believe this one is really good. I needed somewhere for my nippy 16 week Airedale puppy to burn off some serious puppy energy. From day 1, I got back a calm, much sweeter and happy pup. Things I like: They are new so you can currently drop the dogs off with no reservation. They seem to be getting more crowded so I don't know if this will change. They are open at 6:30 on week days, which is great if you like to get to work early and miss some of the traffic. I did not want to be waiting around my daycare to open each morning. You can watch your dogs on the webcams all day, outside of from noon to 2pm, which is nap time for everyone. I was hesitant to have my pup crated, but now he naps mid-day at home, which is great. The staff is amazing. They love your dogs, you can see this on camera and from how Tucker (my pup) greets them each morning. If they are not busy, they will meet us at the door in the morning and usually walk us outside in the evening. It is a one-stop shop for grooming, nail trims, baths and even training. It is super nice to drop off a smelly dog and get a nice clean one back. I did a session of the training and liked the positive methods and the class was fun for him. He is now 23 weeks old and attends 5 days a week and has boarded 3 times, been groomed once, had his nails trimmed and had a bath. My dog loves this place. Have been going there since he was 6 months old. He is now 4. I love watching him play on the website or on my phone. My dog hates men but for some reason he likes the guys here. The front desk is very friendly. For the people who buy a package and complain that they don't get their money back if they don't use it all, I highly recommend they DONT buy a package unless they are going to use it all. DUH. I took my dog to Dogtopia for a bath & dry. The actual service was just fine; my dog was returned to me clean and happy and extra floofy! I also loved that they gave me a doggy toothbrush to take home as well - nice touch! However, some of my first impressions from a customer service side weren't great. I used the website to review the spa services and clicked the "request appointment" button on the spa services site, which prompted me to somehow setup an account for their portal. Later when someone called me from the business, they wanted to schedule me in for a meet and greet. Only after a confusing conversation we get on the same page that I was only requesting a dog bath and not doggy day care services. She told me that I must have made a mistake on the website, and I can't have access to the portal because that's only for the day care customers. OK... I was just following the prompts on the website? Then, she asked what kind of grooming services I needed. After another confusing conversation, I was scolded for saying I needed "general grooming services" when just a bath is a "spa service"....I don't think that difference in terminology is something every new customer would know. So, overall, becoming a new customer didn't feel like a friendly or seamless experience. Then, when I arrived to drop off my dog, there was no one at the front desk. It was clear to me (having worked with other dog businesses) that whomever was back with the rest of the dogs, but I was left waiting for about 5 minutes. Luckily, I wasn't on my way to another appointment, or I would have been very frustrated by the wait to drop my dog. When someone did arrive to take my dog back, I asked for a general time estimate on when they'd be done. She said, "we'll call you". And I replied, "Yes, I know you'll call me. But do you know around when you think she might be ready?", to which I got another, "Oh don't worry about that, we'll call you, you just go do whatever you need to do." ...... again, perhaps they didn't understand that I was trying to decide if I should just go grab a quick coffee, or if I should do several hours worth of errands. I don't like to leave my dog kenneled for very long, so I like to be ready to pick her up as soon as she is ready. I left feeling uninformed and a little anxious that perhaps they didn't even know how long it would take. In the end, it took a little over an hour for them to call. When I picked up my pup - she was clean and happy, and the staff had nothing but good things to say about her behavior while being cleaned. The pricing for the bath is more expensive than the previous business we had been using, but Dogtopia is more convenient for us. I was happy with the spa service (now I know the right term!) so I plan to use them again, unless I find a better option! read more

I asked about transferring remaining daycare days to another dog parent so that they can be used and they said they denied my request. Simply put, they lost my dog and didn't notify us until someone arrived to pick her up. We are fortunate enough that a good samaritan found her, brought her to a local vet, and we were able to be reunited. The incident was extremely frightening and traumatic. I am extremely disappointed and disheartened with the way the incident was handled. On October 21st, 2020 my boyfriend arrived to pick up our dog, Ruby, from her day with Dogtopia. When he called to say he arrived they asked him to come inside and they explained to him that Ruby had escaped when they were playing outside. Per fire code, they have to have another door that opens on the fence. Apparently, when the big dogs were out, one of the them may have pushed a trash can or something and opened the door a little bit. When the little dogs were let outside, one of the caretakers saw the door open and counted the dogs. 3 were missing. They caught 1, a local business owner got another and saw Ruby. But when she tried to get her, Ruby was too fast for her. They told him that there were already people out looking for her and they had called Plano Animal Control. We do not understand why my boyfriend and I were not made aware of her escape until my boyfriend arrived to pick her up. Why weren't we notified the instant this happened? They had already brought back the other two escaped dogs, had people already looking for her, and called animal control. However, they weren't able to call us about this incident prior to our arrival? Had we been notified sooner, we could have also helped searching for her earlier. Not being notified when it happened, makes us feel like Dogtopia was hoping to find her before we arrived to pick her up and hide the fact that she had been lost. I emailed Dogtopia the following day (Thursday) voicing my disappointment and asking why we weren't contacted immediately regarding her escape. As of today (Saturday), I have not received any sort of response and continue to be disappointed with how they are handling this situation. Until this event, our experience at Dogtopia had been positive. However, after such event and our belief of how they mishandled the situation, we will not be bringing Ruby to this location anymore. ****UPDATE - after posting this review, the Dogtopia manager called and further explained the timeline and how everything happened within 10-15 minutes of my boyfriend's arrival. She was very apologetic and refunded us for the remaining days we had on our daycare pass since Ruby will no longer be attending Dogtopia. read more

Don't buy a package from the Plano location. I bought a package of 10 visits for over $200.00. This location then changed owners and the new owner wouldn't honor the package I purchased. Very short sighted of this new owner. I took my dog once a week and he would have recouped his $$ over time. This lack of integrity speaks volumes to me about their business practices. read more

I have been taking my dog to Dogtopia at this location before they closed in 2021 and after they reopened. The new staff definitely deserves some recognition for being loving to dogs and always having a positive attitude. There is definitely a drastic but positive difference since they reopened. During the period they closed we experienced a couple other daycares around the area and it was a nightmare seeing how dirty and unprofessional other daycares ran their businesses. Some things that make dogtopia plano stand out is that they have a daily structure, clean with pet safe chemicals often, play with the dogs, hold activities, are flexible with the doggie's lunch meals, etc. My dog probably irritates some with all the loud barking and his anxiety, but they always make sure to treat him great and whenever I have had any issue/question, the staff always does their absolute best to resolve it. I am able to watch him on camera and use their app without problems. We trust Dogtopia Plano staff to watch our boy and we are grateful we can go to work daily with the peace of mind he is well cared for. read more

My small dog has been to dogtopia a handful of times. When she became sick after one of the first visits, I thought it was a fluke. After the second time, I knew it was from dogtopia since she had been around no other dogs. Unfortunately, I had just purchased a package (unused) which they refuse to reimburse. So not only am I out the $260 for the package, I'm also out almost $400 for the vet bills. I will never use them again. Also, horrible customer service. read more

Wasn't impressed at all, went in for a tour especially at a busy time so I could really get a feel for how the workers handle stress. The lady at the front introduced herself as Pam, the owner, we heard something on the walkies, like there may have been a scuffle between 2 dogs, and she turned the walkie down and didn't even go to see what happened or handle the situation. We started talking about our dogs and the owner immediately turned her focus and energy to a current client coming to pick up her dogs. She didn't speak to me or the other 2 people I was with for 30 mins after this. She had no idea what dogs were going home and had to ask the clients who their dogs were at least 3 times each. She left for about 10 mins and let the clients build up in the lobby, there were about 9 people waiting at one time and no one was there to help anyone. She finally came back and was in and out of the lobby with a couple other employees. One was extremely rude, and the other only appeared to tell a lady that her dog had thrown up but didn't give any details as to why/what may have cause it. Another lady came in and saw her dog full on humping another dog on the live webcams and freaked out. So at this point, there are 4 people just waiting to be helped, 1 lady on the phone with her vet because she doesn't know why her dog is puking, 1 lady just freaking out and almost crying because no one has ever told her that her dog mounts other dogs, and 3 people waiting for a tour. Maybe get another person to help run the front and get some more back people who know how to tell dogs apart, or, I don't know, put on a dog harness? Meanwhile 2 other dogs in the group were trying to hump each other for 20 mins and you could tell it was normal "play" for them, and the daycare guy wasn't even paying attention. Then we see another guy, maybe another one of the owners, talking on the phone while he's supposed to be supervising a group of dogs. Great place you got there! In the end, the owner asked us to come back another time when it's not so "busy" even though it was their own fault for not handling things properly and being so unorganized. Not going back. We have had a great experience so far. The staff is very professional and extremely caring towards the dogs. The meet and greet was great and allowed me to check out the services. My pup comes home tired at the end of the day. She loves it and gets excited when we pull up to the store. Love the doggy video feed ! This is my and my fur baby's favorite daycare and boarding. She has been going to dogtopia of Plano since she was a little beagle puppy. We tried few daycares in Plano and Frisco area but none made my dog happy as dogtopia she jumps out of her car seat and so happy, when we pull up for drop off. All the staff is wonderful and the K9 coaches play and interact with your pup all day. Live webcam is a great feature I can check on my baby all day. We accidentally purchased a daycare pass at this location instead of the one that is actually close to us. Obviously our fault but when we tried to get in touch with a manager it took them 4 weeks to finally tell us they weren't going to refund us. Even after explaining the situation multiple times and telling them we can not take our dog there because of the distance they still would not budge. We even just wanted to transfer the pass to another Dogtopia that's actually within reach. This property saw an opportunity to steal a couple hundred dollars from us and took it. A refund for a service not being completed should not be rocket science. It certainly should not take over a month to get back to a customer with a concern. If this shady encounter is any indication of how this business is run I'd say to go ahead and save yourself the money and inconvenience. Don't do business with someone who openly steals from their customers when the opportunity presents itself. There's legal and then there's right and wrong. We made the mistake by purchasing the daycare pass at the wrong location which gives them the legal right to keep the hundreds of dollars we paid for the pass, but that doesn't make it morally right. Our girl loves it here. When we pull up to drop her off, she can't wait to get out of the car and go in. You can tell the staff have a love for dogs. Webcams allow you to check on your furry family member throughout the day and it's always a positive view. When she comes home, she exhausted from playing all day. Love DT! read more
