Dana is a true professional who genuinely cares about pets and I recommend Grand Paws highly. I am searching for a way to board my four dogs so I can visit my first grandchild next month for the first time. I'm at my wits' end trying to get them all safely boarded somewhere near my home in Dallas. Dana was amazing! I've had my dog Kali for almost 7 years, and I have never had anyone outside of my family watch her, so needless to say I was very apprehensive about going online to find someone to take care of my baby. Aside from worrying about how my pet would be treated, Kali is over 70lbs, so wondering if someone who isn't use to her strength could handle her also worried me. Dana came by a few days before to meet Kali and I and that visit really put me at ease. During this meet-and-greet Dana was very attentive to even seemingly small details, and she asked lots of questions that I wouldn't have even thought of discussing. Throughout my time away Dana was accessible via text and calls, and she sent tons of pictures and videos from her drop-ins. I found GrandPaws after a long search of local companies and some of the gig work apps, that turned out to be unreliable and inconsistent. My husband and I were preparing to leave for a long trip out of the country and I was very nervous to leave my babies. I can't say enough good things about GrandPaws, Dana, and her team! I have been using Grand Paws Pet Sitter since mid 2022, about 5x since then for a total of probably 25 days, and they have been wonderful! I initially found them after an extremely rushed search to find a sitter in DFW for a newly rescued puppy who was too young to board. At the time, I had very few options besides cancelling the trip, but when I explained this to the owner, she was able to squeeze her into the schedule. What I like most about them is they truly care about my dog, They send updates and photos/videos so I know she is doing well and happy. Oh my goodness! I cannot say enough about Dana. I have a regular sitter who could not sit for me and I needed someone just to come by 2 times during the day since we had to go on a quick day trip. We used Grand Paws this past week and can't say enough good things about the kind, caring service we received from Claire and Dana. We normally board our little senior dog Penny, but she was diagnosed with vestibular disease (dog vertigo) three weeks before we were going to travel for a week. We scrambled and did a lot of research and found Grand Paws. Dana, the owner, was so kind and accommodating and we were able to have Claire visit twice during the day and then Dana stayed overnight with Penny. The minute Dana came to meet Penny and pick up our keys, I knew Penny would be in good hands. Dana spent extra time going over all of Penny's needs and habits, making sure she had correct phone numbers and contacts, and said they deal with all sorts of requests and not to worry. They not only want to know about your pet, but they want to know about you! Next, before they'll launch into just feeding, watering and cleaning, the owner makes sure that the person caring for your fuzzy family is up to speed on everything. Where's the extra food? The paper towels? Where does he like to hide? What's his favorite games and activities? Very comprehensive. I felt reassured right from the start that my cat, Radar, was going to be well-cared for. This first time using Grand Paws, I was delighted to learn that the owner of the business, Dana, was going to be personally caring for Radar. Radar is a people cat, and he always has had me or my son around. I was nervous leaving town for the long Thanksgiving weekend. But with the start-up service I described above, I just knew Radar was going to be ok. During our time away, Dana sent me daily text messages, with pictures, video, sound or all three, showing how Radar was enjoying his time with her. That was so reassuring and mind-relieving, I can't even describe it. When we got back, we didn't have a nervous, angry cat -- we had a relaxed, well cared for critter. I am not one to review companies, but Grand Paws went above and beyond for us. My story is a bit long so tldr: Grand Paws pet sitting service went out of their way to watch our FOUR dogs with less than 72 hour notice even though we were first time customers. To start, our family purchased two new pups in March this year. After we suffered a loss in our family, we had to make arrangements to travel without our four dogs. I assumed we would board them as we normally do; however, I realized at the last moment that we would not be able to board the puppies as they are not yet fixed. First, I considered Rover. I felt uncomfortable with this though because you never know what you will get with "gig work" apps. You could get someone great, or you could get someone who does the bare minimum. And who would I deal with if something went wrong? Someone far away from me and my worries presumably. So I looked into companies who employed their dog sitters and were local. Needless to say, with four dogs needing a minimum of three visits a day, the price was stacking up. That's when I found Grand Paws and Dana. I filled out a bit of info online and Dana (the owner) reached out to me the same day within hours. She spoke with me for over an hour listening to my concerns, what I was looking for, and what my dogs needed. It was tall order to say the least; four dogs with four visits a day since the puppies need to potty and be fed frequently. With less than 72 hours until we departed for the funeral of a family member, Dana was able to commit to helping us - even if it meant she herself, the owner, would have to step in! Luckily, one of her employees, Lisa, had space in their schedule for us. Let me tell you, Lisa was amazing. It was a hard time for us in general - a death in the family, four dogs needing care, and leaving our new puppies for the first time. Lisa was such a comforting presence and really made me feel at peace with leaving our dogs behind while we took time to grieve. She sent us daily updates, pictures, and videos. She mastered the complication of juggling four schedules for four dogs, and when she realized she couldn't give our dogs the attention they needed with 30 min visits, she made the time to give them 45 min visits for a minimal fee. Lisa and Dana were both extremely thorough in their care for our dogs, and it gave my family the time and calm we needed to say our final goodbyes to our family member. When we arrived home, there was a note waiting for us with adorable sketches of each of our dogs that perfectly captured each of their unique personalities. The welcome home note was such a kind personal touch from Lisa. I cannot stress enough how this company stepped up to the plate for us without even having an existing relationship with us or our dogs. In full disclosure I have not used Grand Paws Pet Sitter to pet sit my puppy, if I could I would. I'm writing this review based upon my experience with Dana McKool the owner of Grand Paws. I reached out to her to arrange puppy services with visits twice a day, Monday - Friday. Dana gave me a call and informed me that she didn't currently have someone in my area that could do the puppy services but she gave me a list of reputable pet sitting companies (she knew the owners of many of the companies) to contact. Dana informed me that she has been in the pet sitting business for over 25 years and for me such longevity in business means you must be doing something right. The fact that she was honest enough to let me know they couldn't fulfill my request and then refers me to other reputable sitters truly earned my respect and gratitude. I am so grateful that I found this place--Dana and Lorelei have been a blessing. I have spent many sleepless nights worrying about my animals and who will take care of them while we are gone. And now that is all behind me. Now I can enjoy our trips away that much more.
