I wanted to leave an honest review because the staff was kind and the grooming itself looked good at first. However, I was disappointed by the unexpected fees--$20 for old age, $15 for matting, and $15 for nails--on top of the base  65$grooming charge. What concerned me most was that after bringing my dog home, I noticed some redness and irritation on his skin that had not been there before. As a tiny senior dog, he can be sensitive, so naturally this was worrying to see. I was also surprised when, at the end of the appointment, I was told not to bring him back because the groomer was not comfortable grooming him in the future, even though I had been told during the visit that he was doing well. I paid around $120 for the visit and expected clearer communication, more transparency about pricing, and a more comfortable experience for my dog. I hope the business takes customer concerns seriously and improves communication going forward. read more

The communication between the front desk and the groomer (owner) . They just cut it the way they want to and Tough if you don't like it. I always have Regina cut and grooms my Pekingese dog. She has left the McKinney Mutt Puddle. I was told the lady is the owner that cut my dogs hair. A terrible job! I could have done as good or better. My husband even said how bad it looked. I told her not to cut the hair on my dogs ears...she cut them!!!! Have been bringing my best friend there since he was a puppy, for years now. The service they provide is amazing. They treat my four legged kid with kindness and compassion. He is a senior now and not always willing to be cooperative but they are able to calm and soothe him to where he gets back and he is happy and energetic. I went with my girlfriend to take her puppy for a grooming and a bath. She has a Yorkie about 5 pounds and she had been quoted $50. We came back at the appropriate time and her dog was a disgusting mess. They bathed her and sort of trimmed her around the face her hair and her ears are very uneven her face really doesn't even look like it's been done they didn't do the rest of her body except for around on her butt and then charged her $69!!! She asked for the manager or the owner and they said well she's not here and she said will you please call her and they said oh we don't have her phone number and she said well what am I supposed to do about my dog she looks terrible and they said well we sort of did what we could do What they were nasty towards her eye would never ever take my dog back here ever!! I've brought my dogs here for 4+ years. Last October, when I picked up my Aussie Doodle, they told me I owed $160... $40 more than previous trims. I was not happy, especially since they did not tell me this ahead of time. This week, I took her back and asked for a trim, but specifically said I did not want her to have a summer cut- it's still too cold. When I picked her up, not only did she have a summer cut, but they informed me that the fee was $200. I will not be back!! read more

Terrible! We took our Wheaton Terrier to have him groomed. We were quoted $60 over the phone. When we got there we double checked the fee and they verified it. It did not include nails so we added it for $20 (now $80). They called and said there was some matting and they could comb it out for $16. We approved (now $96). My wife picked him up and it was $160. They claimed that he was not a Wheaton and was much larger so the increase was justified. They could have said something when he arrived. Nobody would pay $160 to groom this sized dog. We called to talk to the manager or owner. The receptionist said she told them and they had approved for her to handle the dispute and that they would not be "available". I can get the owner's name from the Secretary of State business records. Classic bait and switch and cover your tracks. We were not given a receipt of any kind. He a classic Wheaton size 19" tall and 37 lbs. AKC registered and bought from an approved breeder. Their case for a price increase and not getting approval is absurd. AKC may have questions, too. Complaints are going to: State of Texas Attorney General Office, Consumer Protection, Yelp, Mckinney Cares and BBB. I will take it to Small Claims Court. We've been using them for years but they now charge $85 + tip for a very basic cut for my non-matted Shih Tzu which includes $10 for nail clipping. Their grooming is only average so we are moving on and will saving $25 with highly rated local service. read more

My dog rolled in something gross and this was my first time using the Mutt Puddle self-wash. Jaunna, the front desk girl, was so helpful, showing me how to use everything. Every few months, we treat our Border Collies to a 'spa day,' where we get them shampoo'd, brushed out, and toenails clipped. We've been taking them to the same place, The Mutt Puddle, since we got Cooper in 2017. We've been satisfied with their service...up until this week. Last week, we took both mutts into The Mutt Puddle, for their 'usual.' Picked them up a couple of hours later. A day or so later, I noticed Cooper was shedding. Like crazy. Like "Siberian Husky shedding his winter undercoat on a hot, Spring day" shedding. Which was curious, because this should have been taken care of with the bath and grooming. I got out a shedding/de-matting brush and thought I'd get a handful of hair. Nope. I got enough to make another dog, AND discovered a prodigious number of matts. We were NOT amused. Did I mention The Mutt Puddle had gone up on their prices, and we paid $184 and change for their spa day, which SHOULD have included a brush out, and nail clipping. And did I mention I found out - the hard way - they neglected to clip the dewclaws. Fun. So I called, the next day, and asked for the manager. Had to leave a message, but I did get a call back. The manager was properly concerned and sympathetic. He offered that he'd been gone that day, and a new, assistant manager must have neglected to check our dogs before they were released. He asked me the key question: "What can I do to make this right?" Good. I suggested that we schedule a time for me to bring the dogs back in, so they could finish the job I paid for. Seemed fair to me - I wasn't asking for anything free...just for them to do what they'd been contracted to do in the first place. We agreed on a time, first thing this morning. I didn't want to wait, largely because I didn't want it to seem as though I was asking for a second bite at the apple. An hour after I dropped them off, I got a call that they were ready. Upon entering the place, I checked both dogs to see if they'd done what they were supposed to do. The lady at the counter pointed to another big pile of fur, again, enough to make another dog, this time filled with some rather impressive mats. She complained about the number of mats. Then she said something that surprised me. "You didn't pay to have the mats cut out," she said. "It's not covered under our Full Service treatment. (For the record, their "Full Service" includes a massaging bath, hand blow dry, 15 minute brush out, ears cleaned, bandana/bow, and cologne (if desired). If they need more mats than can be handled in that 15 minute brush-out, it's an extra $5 for every 10 minutes.) Then she blew me away with the next thing out of her mouth. "That will be another $22 for the mat removal." Pause with me for a a nanosecond whilst I recite the principles of excellent customer service: 1. The customer is always right. 2. Give them more than they expect - not less. 3. Never try and nickel-and-dime an upset customer What she did not know, was that we'd decided we'd likely not use The Mutt Puddle again. This was to be their last chance. And they blew it. Spectacularly, I might add. I pointed out that this was a 'make-good' session, authorized by the store manager, who made no mention of any additional payment. She replied that she'd gone over our bill with the manager on duty (NOT the guy I'd talked to, but likely the one who oversaw the screwup in the first place), and he'd approved the charges. "No. You didn't do what I'd paid for. I will not pay extra for bad service." She waffled, and said she'd have to take it up with her manager, who was not available at the moment. "If you still owe us anything, we'll call you." I left with our dogs in tow. (Or if you know our dogs, they towed me out of the door and to my Jeep.) I would imagine she called the manager, and when she mentioned trying to bleed me for more cash, I suspect his answer went something like, "You tried to CHARGE an unhappy customer MORE money, when you SCREWED UP in the first place?!" Yeah. I'm sure that went great for her. I have no idea what we're going to do for our puppies. I'm sure we'll find another place for grooming. Or maybe will go the self-serve route, at place that will allow you to use their stuff to wash your own dogs. Regardless, we will NOT be going back to #TheMuttPuddle, ever again. They were great. Until they weren't. And got simultaneously sloppy and greedy. Pity. I liked treating our guys to their very own spa day. (KInda think somebody I know ought to do the same for me sometime. I've never had a spa day. Sniff.) But for now, their spa days will be looking for a new venue. read more

*PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO HERE* This place boasts "We do not ask you to drop your pet off first thing in the morning where he/she will wait in a cage until a groomer gets around to them. It's entirely too stressful for the dogs. When you call, we will make an appointment just like a hair salon." LIES. I drop my dog off at 11:30 in the morning. I've been here before and typically it takes about an hour and a half. Which is fine. However, today, my dog took almost 4 hours. Why you might ask? Because my groomer had to help another groomer with an aggressive dog. Was ever notified that my dog was going to take longer? Nope. And when I called to ask what was going on the lady on the phone said it's my responsibility to know how long a grooming can take and when I explain to her that their website states that "no dog would be left be waiting in a kennel for hours" she said it's just like that sometimes. She told me that if it was so important to me, I should pay for the express service next time. Absolutely ridiculous. When I finally was able to pick up my dog, I tried to speak to the manager, and that went nowhere.. I've never been to a place where a manager and the staff lack basic customer service. If you do decide to just be aware, this may be an issue you run into. Unfortunately, for me, I will never be back here. read more

Groomer (Mariah) cut my dog under both ears and failed to tell me. I was not notified by the groomer or the facility. After discovering the oozing, bloody cuts I immediately called our Vet. The veterinarian confirmed that my dog, Saylor had razor burn under both ears. We got an antibiotic and treated her wounds twice a day for ten days. But here's the kicker. I was NEVER informed by the groomer or the facility that Saylor had been cut. (Saylor's ears and fur concealed the wounds so I suppose Mariah figured I wouldn't see the injury?). I called The McKinney Mutt Puddle three times over the next week and and sent two emails requesting reembuersement for the vet bill and the grooming. (Pictures and notes from the Vet were sent as proof.) There was NO response to my phone calls or emails from the Mariah, who, as I was told by the store's manager is the new owner of The Mutt Puddle. Could you image? Not only does the Mariah try to hide the fact that she injured by sweet dog, but Mariah, groomer/owner, did not feel it was necessary to attempt to rectify the situation. So I pay the store a visit. Bottom line, Mariah denied everything. Even with pictures and a note/receipt from the vet stating the diagnosis and treatment. Worst experience with a business owner EVER. Bad, bad business. Don't use The Mutt Puddle McKinney! read more

Took our little guy who will be 3 in September for a grooming on July 28th for an appointment with Regina who has been our groomer since we've gotten him and has alway done an excellent job. However the last 2 times I took him for his grooming I don't believe that Regina was the groomer although I specifically schedule the appointment with him. I think I was lied too. On the previous visit the groomer forgot to trim and file the pawns on one of his legs which I let slide and didn't make a big deal. Figured everyone makes mistakes and this was one of those times. Fast forward to July 28th to the most current grooming. Whoever the groomer was (and I don't believe it was the regular groomer Regina). My dog was butchered and they did not even bother to bath him. When I picked him up I was shocked at the way he looked. I had strictly asked not to cut him too short which was exactly what they did. Hid ears and entered face along with part of his body were cut very uneven making him look like something out of ET. I was told the groomer didn't have a choice but to cut him short. I did not received any calls to let me know that they were going to butcher him. Next day or so I called asking again who the groomer was and was told again it was Regina which again and still don't believe it was Regina and to complained about my dissatisfaction The owner said to bring him in and she would fix him. Got there and she kept talking over me and wouldn't allow me to get my point over. She took him in the back and quickly brought him out looking worst that before and sprayed him down with something because she said they wouldn't bath him. Keep in mind he wasn't given a bath the first time around. Wish I could give zero stars because they don't even deserve one star Needless to say after having my dogs groom there, they've lost me as a customer due to their bad customer service and lack of communication along with lying about everything. read more

They do good work here. We have two small, fluffy white dogs that need to be groomed every few months. The Mutt Puddle is close to where we live so it's very convenient. We've been coming here off and on for years. The people have always been very nice and do a good job. The prices are about average for grooming. Every time we've brought our dogs here, the groomer comes out and checks with us to make sure they know what we want done. We've never been disappointed. Make sure to call and make an appointment, they are usually very busy and get booked quickly. Don't expect to call and get an appointment the same day. I usually have to call and make an appointment about 4 - 6 days in advance. They do have the option for you to bring your dog in and bath them yourself, if that is what you need. Groomer Mariah gave my dog multiple lacerations, including two that were so deep they scabbed over badly and one of them started growing bacteria. I had to take my puppy to the vet for them to clean it and gave him shots and medication for treatment. When I called the groomer back, I spoke with the "manager" Linda, and she stated that they did not care because I had reported the incident too late. I would not take a dog I didn't like to this place, much please a beloved pet. Edit: They are saying they have never seen me or my dog and they have. Said they gave him a haircut (they DID NOT) the only thing they did haircut wise was chop the shit out of his top knot and bangs, said they bathed him (they DID NOT). The shit show of a groomer would not even come out and speak to her. I called to speak to the manager she said she would look into it. I bet THEY NEVER DID..They refused to call me back as I called multiple, multiple times and left messages on Max's experience. I and the family think they did something horrible to Ole Man Max. If I could put zero stars I woThe owner wants me to bring my dog back in to correct my dogs cut. First, you cannot not fix her ears at this point. That is not how you cut poodles ears. They shaved entire body and didn't even cut top of head. They even gave her Schnauzer eyebrows. When I dropped her off I said same cut as always. She was shaking and was reverse sneezing when I picked her up. You could tell she had been traumatized at her appointment. Unfortunately, Mutt Puddle had me pay and tip before I ever saw my dog. I just want a refund I don't ever want to walk back in the establishment again. I would do a lot of research and I would avoid ever taking my dog here. ***Update***** I just went into Mutt Puddle today to get my credit card refunded from the terrible cut my dog received. They refuse to pay me back unless I take down review The owner has lied about the last time my dog was at Mutt Puddle saying it had been six months which it hadnt. He said she was matted to bad they had to shave her like they did. I asked the lady why I didn't receive a phone call stating that and she said that was their fault. . He also wouldn't return my calls which I had asked. The owner had offered to try and straighten the cut out. I refused I dont want them touching my dog. Plus, there is not way they can even do anything to the choppee.cut they did to my dogs ears. So, I decided not to take the refund and keep the review up. They are a lot of great groomers out there. With out a doubt there are places around Mckinney who are much cheaper then mutt puddle but none of them have came as close to the service provided by the owners here. Four stars because it is a bit pricy but I'm satisfied with the grooming they did on my little dog today. Thanks!! I am taking back that review because to my extreme surprise I was contacted by the owner of The Mutt Puddle, Mike, and he was just SO sweet and kind. He made sure that I was alright, checked on my little baby Kyser, and assured me that action would be taken toward the person who handled my dog so poorly. I am giving 5 stars because he seems to really care about his customers, animals and how we both are feeling about our visit. I will be going back there, and I am extremely pleased with the phone call that I received. Thank you so much, and I definitely recommend this place to anyone who goes there since I am more than positive the employee that was having issues will be taken care of.
