I needed to get a few things for my dogs and noticed this Petco in the area and so I came on in. Walking in, I kind of felt like this was not one of their newer or remodeled stores. It felt a little "old" in my opinion. There was a great selection here for dog foods. I even noticed several cat food choices, but the prices seemed a bit higher than what I typically pay at other stores, so I opted not to get any cat food. While I was there I noticed several Halloween play toys on pretty good discounts and I figured my dogs would not mind that they were Halloween and not Christmas, so I bought a few. They were a hit with my dogs! The staff was friendly enough, but I only encountered them at checkout. Overall it was a decent experience and I would not hesitate to shop them again. Had an appointment for cat grooming, and after 30 minutes I get a call that they cannot go on with servicing my cat. Due to being matted but yet will work on a matted dog. Nothing against dog owners but it was a waste of time to say the least and the female that works there seems she lacks skills in grooming as she should of maybe taken a look before I left only to be called back 30 minutes later! Won't recommend at all! They did nothing for me today but waste my gas and time! Also when she handed me my cat she said NOTHING no apology nothing just gave me my cat! I can't say enough about Misti my groomer here! I took my poor matted baby here to get groomed after Pet Smart declined - she's kennel shy and they mistakenly said she was aggressive. She doesn't bite and it all of seven pounds but whatever. Misti spent four hours getting my baby bathed, nails done and cut short (due to the matting). Groomers cut my dogs nail too short and caused her to bleed once arriving home. My wife went there to address the issue, and the little old bald head manager decided to tell her that they in fact DID NOT cut her nail too short. My wife took her to the vet right after and sure enough, the vet said her nail was ripped off. Back to bald manager, he decided to tell my wife that my dog is no longer allowed back at the location hahahaha. Wish I could whoop his ass honestly. When I returned to address this issue with the older groomer, she responded defensively and made excuses instead of taking responsibility. Importantly, she did not acknowledge the fact that my dog was hurt when I picked her up. This level of service is unacceptable. This place is so dirty, around the pet cages there is a garbage can that has animal feces (should not be on the floor where customers are, or At least have the bag tied up) in the bathroom looks like there is poop on the floor and there was a live cricket, outside the bathroom there was a dead cricket. I have taken my dog for grooming at this location before without a problem. I learned that the young woman that had groomed my dog in the past, did not work there anymore. They had a guy groom my dog this time. I notice when I got her out to the car that, the blood vessels in her left eye were burst. This only happens from severe stress, or manual strangulation. I am very angry that this happened and will not be taking my dog back ever. read more

With a good friend getting a brand-new puppy, no choice but to have to learn about what it takes to take care of one, and this was a great location to do just that. They had a basic dog training right there in the middle of the store so people could observe, knowledgeable staff that literally took you all around the store multiple times thus ensuring you had everything you need, and all in all a well-maintained store, which is darn near impossible with the number of pets that you see whining the halls. I guess when it comes down to it why not five stars, and the simple answer is Price outside of the few sales the price point was a bit higher than the discount chains/big-box stores. AVOID THIS GROOMING SPOT! I've taken my golden doodle here before it was ok at first it's my local one. This last time my pup was really matted so we had to go short which was fine I appreciated the feedback from the groomer Liz in regards to the haircut. When I went back to pick up my pup, another stylist was pushed to assist me which was weird because usually they don't want to touch any front desk duties when Liz is there because she handles all the check ins and out. Liz made the other groomer assist me and didn't say a word to me which was weird. After I got home I noticed my pup was still acting weird and when I was petting her I noticed THE CUT A HOLE IN HER PAW! After getting my first puppy I finally understood why Petco would be a big box store. There are so many products and services they still need more room. Love the fact that my toy Pom can go inside the store. It makes him so happy! The service is outstanding and they always drop what they are doing to greet Mitchell and I and make us feel welcome and appreciated. The men that work here are especially handsome and friendly. And that is how they treat all customers! The selection of products is amazing. Not just dog food, but tropical fish, pets, pet food and treats and even a doggie treat bar. The store is immaculate with no off smells and parking is abundant and close. Recently visited the Petco Groomers the first time. Mitchell felt like he was at a classy spa. They treated all the dogs gently and lovingly. regardless of the service. And since my little ANKLE BITING POMERANIAN had been to other full service groomers, I can attest that the prices are competitive and they do a vastly better job. Think about it. This is a standard Petco - you typically can find what you need here, but the layout isn't very intuitive and for some reason, I always seem to wait in line to check out here more than any other store. We have purchased all of our pet food and accessories from this location for years. We have a 1 1/2 year old Sheepadoodle. We have had her cut in the past but never from a Petco. Since we are in and out of this store quite a bit, we decided we would schedule her a groom with this location. BEWARE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO BE GROOMED HERE. This was the most asinine experience I have ever had in my 32 years of life. We have never had an issue getting our dog cut, we have never been told she was aggressive or anything. We have had her cut 5-6 times and it has never been a issue. From the get go the lady that checked us in was rude and you could tell it was her way or the highway. So first impression was awful and left a bad taste in my mouth. A few hours went by and I receive a call saying I have to come pick my animal up as they cant finish her cut. Excuse me, what!? I asked what happened and she said the dog became aggressive and was crying very loud and tried to bite at her. She then proceeded to tell me the only way I will be able to finish her is to take her to a vet and have her sedated. 1st issue is once again, we have never had a issue getting her hair cut. I don't know if this lady was rough with her or what, but something happened behind that glass that isn't being explained to me. Speaks volume that the lady wouldn't even come out when we went to pick our dog up. I will attach a photo of how they left my dog. They left all of her hair on her mouth and head area, cut her body and front two legs. Left hair on one of her front paws. Shaved one back leg and left all of her hair on another leg. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life. I think the lady got frustrated as the stated to me when I told her I would not pay "hunny, I only get paid if I finish a dog". I think she got frustrated it was taking longer than expected and said to hell with it and gave up so she could make her money for the day on other dogs. Not taking her word lightly, I had to look at my dog for another 4 days looking the way she did and I finally got her into a vet that would sedate her if needed. Well by SURPRISE, our dog did not need to be sedated and got the rest of her hair cut off with absolutely 0 issues, no aggression or anything. The staff at Russell Creek Animal Clinic loved her to death and can't wait to see her again. I think this speaks to the personality and the character of the types of people PETCO hires, especially this lady. I will no longer take my pets to get a hair cut here nor will I shop at a PETCO ever again. I'll go out of my way to avoid pumping anymore money into that establishment knowing how this experience went with the groom. Two complaints about my most recent visit this past Sunday at the 15th Street location in Plano. We wanted to check out the cats up for adoption, but apparently you can't just walk in and hold them or play with them. The store employees are not allowed to open the cages. You have to call and make an appointment with the rescue organization who operates the adoptions. Personally I think this does a major disservice to the cats whom I am sure would love to be out of those cages and have more opportunity to be adopted. This policy should change so that anyone who comes into the store at any time can handle the cats and possibly adopt them without having to make an appointment. My second complaint is regarding the Blue Buffalo rep who was following us around the cat section. I don't like to be rude so I explained to her we were actually just looking at ALL the cat items and were not looking for anything in particular. She continues to follow us for a bit and asked if we were looking for food. I had to explain again that we were not and that we were just looking around. She finally disappeared so we could continue looking without feeling pressured. Just two more reasons I prefer to shop at Pet Smart for any of my pet supplies/needs. read more

I got just one word for my experience at the petco grooming service AWFUL. When I first arrived to drop my dog off, the girl who helped me was rude, she acted like I was bothering her, and she was doing me a favor by helping me. she didn't go through the services that were being provided, my bill came to $101.00, I'm not complaining about the bill but for $100, I would have liked to know what they were doing, apparently they tried to cut my dogs nails, and ended up cutting him really bad, he was bleeding all night, if I new they were going to cut his nail I would told them not to. I mean they should have been able to tell his nail were short enough, no sense by the groomer . I really hate to have to leave this low of a review here, but I'll revise when the situation is corrected. It's my hope that the managers of the establishment read and attempt to correct the situation. This is about the 742th Petco that I've visited in my lifetime...they're all generally the same. I received wonderful customer service from two ladies working late one night on a weekend at the front of the store. The young girl helped me out to my car and managed to figure out how to get an incredibly large awkwardly shaped item into my car. I wish I knew her name so that I could give her praise for going out of her way to help a customer. Now for the bad. There is an incredibly poor mannered and ill informed teenage female working in the fish department. After selecting an item for a fish tank, I went to wait to get a couple of fish for my new tank. I listened to the girl practically bully an asian couple into their first fish purchase and had to wait for quite some time for her to come back and wait on me. I've done my research and knew which were appropriate hardy fish for cycling a fish tank. Apparently my selection was not in her speel and in a snotty tone she proceeded to lecture me and refuse to guarantee my selection. I put down the item I was planning on purchasing and walked out. I don't take kindly to rude, poorly informed teenagers and I'm pretty sure she has no authority to not guarantee a fish purchase. I went to the next closest Petsmart, made my intended purchase (healthier looking fish there anyways) and they're alive and thriving. read more

My dog poops here... well, he has... so I appreciate the "oops" station they have to clean up after your pet. I've come to this store because they have a standard DFW Pup Patrol Adoption event here on a regular basis. The folks got to setup on the inside the first time I went but outside after the weather got nicer. I feel sad for the life things inside the store and just don't think any pets should be sold like this anymore... imagine the life in that cage night after night... They have a grooming area but I haven't tested it out and it's handy if you adopt a pet from the Pop Patrol. I got my pup a taco costume for Halloween... he's all ready now! read more

I like going to this Petco. The employees are friendly, and the checkout lines move quickly. We tried the groomers out for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I was very pleased. The salon manager, Angelique (sp??), was very sweet and patient. I only paid for nail trims, but she took the time to file (grind?) them as well - not only to smooth the nails, but also to see if my dogs would tolerate the filer, so I'd know for next time. She also helped me take my dogs and paperwork to the register out front so I could pay without my huge pit mix puppy jumping all over other customers. Much appreciated! read more

Because they have a good selection of bones for my German Shephards, I end up going here when we run out. We also buy dog food from the location in McKinney. We end up buying big bags of bones and dog food either from this store or the other location noted. At this store, I think my wife purchased a couple of cats. It seems like we always have to visit the cat section. Since we have five that we have already purchased or saved, we are not getting anymore cats no matter how cute they are. I am not sure why I do not pick up a loyalty card. However, it is not enough savings to justify another card in my billfold. While I can not comment about the staff, it seems like they might be a little lean. There was only one cashier and a line waiting during noon hour today. I know that we wanted to try some of the latest kitty litter disposal systems and the woman that we talked about got to the right ones. Check the expiry date on the pet food - I almost bought one that expired in March. When I mentioned it to the cashier, she said there wasn't anything she could do about it. I spoke to the Manager and he said that they probably hadn't looked at it. He walked right by it after that without doing anything. I went to this location with my kids to buy new pets, geckos. We walked in and were quickly helped by a young man who was pretty knowledgeable. He felt as though his coworker was a better match for us because he was good with reptiles. Both employees proceeded to help us get the perfect setup and the two leopard geckos that my kids had chosen. I spent way more than I anticipated but I didn't feel as though they talked me into anything I didn't need. We ran to the cat food aisle to grab a bag for our kitties, but I do feel that their prices were a lot higher than my usual stop at Walmart. Went there to have my dog groomed with the "zoom groom". Was told it would take 1 1/2 hours. Actually took 3 1/2 hours which isn't my main complaint. My dog came out with uneven hair and I asked for 5/8 of an inch cut (they had samples) and his hair was 2 inches long in places. Bad haircut. I did not ask the price as I assumed since this was a Petco and not a fancy dog salon that it would be reasonable. For a shampoo, hair cut and nails trimmed (standard at any salon) I paid $87!!! I was VERY disappointed in the cut and the price and will never go back there again. read more

What's the point of having "walk in" services if I can't actually "walk in" and have them done. Never saw a smile from any of the groomers. They are not compassionate at all. Several people came in after us; one of which had made an appointment online to which they were told to come back another day. To make it even worse we were overcharged. So I read all the reviews and made all the phone calls; and was legitimately happy our decision to take our very well behaved, 10 month old, 80lb Great Dane pup here to be groomed. We just recently rescued him and he needed a good grooming. He doesn't bark, bite, jump, or really anything (we have two small children) so he's on his way to be pretty well trained. He is just a BIG fur baby. My husband showed up, the smaller statured women there proceeded to tie him to something on a wall and walk away, again, he's a big guy. So he proceeded to walk away after her and whatever he was tied to broke. She immediately started getting attitude with my husband who tried to calm the situation by suggesting she maybe get a hand to help. He even stated how he has problems bathing him by himself so it's totally understandable. Women continued to give Him a horrible attitude (I think misunderstanding what my husband said) and almost yelled that he could not come back there to help. He put his hands up and said no no, that's not what I meant. I mean, maybe someone who works in the groomers with you could help. She continued with the attitude and cut one nail on our dog (who was being pretty still about it all) before throwing the clippers and refusing to continue to groom him. I know everyone has bad days, I know things happen, and I get feeling overwhelmed. But every groomer I have spoke to sense is appalled and agrees that it was unprofessional and rude. My only suggestion, if you do choose this place, make sure more than one groomer is working, because we will personally not be back. read more

I've had my dogs groomed here several times by the grooming manager, who came highly recommended. My dogs have never been ready in a reasonable amount of time, let alone when promised. The average time my dogs spend in this "salon" is 8 hours. The groomer always has an elaborate excuse, but not once have my dogs been ready in a timely manner. OMG!!! I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews prior to bringing my Bichon/Shih Tzu mix to this store for grooming. It would be one thing to be honest and to say a mistake was made, but to insult my intelligence and say my dog was matted is deceptive. I am a dog mom who brushes daily especially this morning prior to her appointment. I was called during her appointment and told that her legs were extremely matted, which I questioned. What I did wrong was not going straight to the store when I received this call. I believe in my heart that she had been skinned prior to the phone call for my authorization. When I made it back for pickup, she had hair on her back ONLY! As a concerned pet parent, please proceed to this location for grooming with EXTREME caution. I will no longer be shopping or grooming my baby with these stores not because of human error but because of a lying tongue. Furthermore, I wasn't even offered a coupon or anything for the negligence. Petco, you should ensure that ALL of your groomers are competent and honest prior to grooming our babies.
