I have frequented this Petco a few times, and every time I go in, it seems like they only have 2 people working at a time for the entire store. One employee in the fish/reptile department, and one for the rest of the entire store AND the cash register. I discovered this when I was waiting at the cash register wanting to buy $100+ worth of items and there was no one to be seen for 15 minutes. I finally went looking for someone to assist me (very flabbergasted at the lack of employees by this point) and found the singular employee. I finally got to buy my stuff and leave, and this past visit I left for good. PetSmart is a little bit more of a drive for me and a little more expensive, but I will happily pay more for my pet stuff if it means that I get good customer service. Another note: Outside of this PetCo, there are many panhandlers. I understand that it is the city's problem if they were roaming the parking lot, but they were on PetCo property (basically just outside the door). I was asked twice for money upon leaving the store. It made me uncomfortable, and again I would rather drive further to PetSmart and pay more than have to deal with this PetCo again. read more

Their new building serves as the flagship for what a Petco store should be. It is clean, spacious, and well lit, everything that the old location was not. It's nice to shop here, because you don't have to feel the crush of humanity with every step you take in this place. Because it's well lit, it's pretty easy to find what you are looking for, and the aisles are nice and wide to allow for easy access if you are shopping with a cart. If I have a beef against this place is the parking lot, with the store entrance located at the nexus of 2 different entrances to the shopping complex. It's a miracle I've never seen a pedestrian getting hit by a car here, because the drivers in this area are terrible. read more

This petco has excellent customer service. I'm honestly going to stop ordering my pet food from Amazon and start shopping here. The store manager and the cashier were helpful and told me how to save $ money on my purchase. They also carry a lot of products for large breed dogs. The only disappointment is the strange people that hang out at the petco parking lot. So, for that reason I recommend parking near the front of the store. read more

I am extremely picky with the poodle cut Leila receives. I've gone to several different groomers in the IE, I am & have been for sometime now a loyal costumer of Liz at Petco Montclair grooming salon. She is an absolute sweetheart, always a pleasure to see her. I am 100% happy with Leila's cut every time I pick her up. I would follow Liz if she were to ever leave because of the exceptional work & personality she offers. I know Leila is in good hands when I leave her with Liz. Immaculate customer service, a perfect groom every time & confidence in Leila's well being. Worth every penny. read more

Wish they had 10 stars I could give them... i took my puppy Pawzzy Osbourne for her 2nd round of shots, and was immediately greeted and helped by probably the most sweetest people working there both VetCo and Petco employees. I think I was more nervous that my puppy was, but they were AMAZING. I'll never go anywhere else. Thank you for making us both feel safe and happy during our visit. read more

Not Very Many Employees Here To Help You, You Have To Hunt Them Down...Good Luck!!! I Like That You Can Buy Your Pet Tags Here And Type Out What You Want On Them Instead Of Having Someone Else Do It, Mess It Up And Do It Again Before They Get It Right. There Is A Pet Tag Machine There, You Buy The Tag Stick It In The Machine And Type What You Want On The Tag. The Place Is Bare In Some Places And When You Need Help They Either Couldn't Care Less Or They Don't Know What They Are Selling And Can't Help You At All. This Place Only Gets 2 Stars Because I Can Make My Own Dog Tags. Otherwise Avoid At All Costs!!! read more

This Petco is not that big, but it's very well organized. The staff at this location are extremely polite, nice, and friendly. Before I made my purchases I walked around the store quite a bit, and all the staff I encountered asked me if I needed help. And when I did ask them questions, they answered them enthusiastically even though they must have had to answer these same questions a hundred times before. I don't mind at all that the store doesn't carry a great deal of selections (compared to the other stores I've been to). The staff is the reason I keep coming back here. read more

After hearing over and over and over again the 40% off SALE at Petco, I decided to go in on Monday, November 23rd at 9:22am. I didn't see ANY 40% off signs, so I asked the associate that was working. Bailey, answered me very Snotty, "I'm the assistant manager here and there is not sale going on right now, I would know" I didn't like that, for two reasons, but I went on looking on my "own". It seems, this associate was at EVERY section, I ended up at (humpfff) I had a handful of items and was ready to check out, I went to the register with NO clutter on it and asked was it open and the associate, said "no this one is open, with the light on". I just didn't get a good vibe off this so-called assistant manager, if felt like she LACKED in customer service and NEEDS to be RE-trained.!!!!!!!!! read more

First time here. Usually go to Petsmart but they didn't have the dog cone that i was looking for so i went here. Horrible mistake! The store looks renovated and smells nice inside but they are limited on stock. They didn't have the size i was looking for. Also, service was bad. The person that was helping me was okay at first when we were looking for stuff but once we got to the cashier....everything went downhill. She was in panic it seems like, i don't know if it felt like I was rushing her. She asked if i have the petco card i said im not sure, i tried putting in my 2 cellphone numbers and no luck. She said I'll try looking your name up and i gave her my name she said LET ME GET TO IT FIRST. Gsssh sorry. So I wasn't on the system. She didn't offer so i had to ask can i apply for one. She told I had to fill up the form then i asked back can i apply online? She rudely replied YEAH BUT YOU WON'T GET THE CARD. So after she finished the transaction my mom asked can i have a plastic bag she rudely replied OH YOU WANT A BAG? I DIDN'T KNOW BECAUSE YOURE THE FIRST ONE TO ASK FOR ONE THEY USUALLY CARRIES IT AND YOU KNOW TO SAVE THE TREES. Omg! That's when she pushed me to my limit and decided to write an honest review about how bad the service was. Ps. For the manager of this petco location please message me if you want the name of this staff. I wont post it in my review because thats not right but you might want to discipline or train that employee better or she can cause your store to close. Thank you read more

Sonia never disappoints when grooming my dog . She's the best! Will always recommend her to everyone !

I don't usually leave reviews but today k walked in for my puppies grooming appointment, they told me they could not assist me because they were on their lunch. And the other employee didn't want to take my dog in because it wasn't her dog. They left us waiting for a long time. Aside from that my dog was terrified of the place. She didn't want to walk in and was shaking out of control. I was then told by someone else that they mistreat dogs. Never again. read more

Extremely overrated. The vetco clinic is advertised as "low cost" but they charge you a ridiculous amount for your pets vaccine! Additionally, they use scare tactics to make you get unnecessary vaccinations for your pets. You're better off going to the Mary S Roberts low cost clinic, shots are $15 or less! read more

How about 2.5 because it certainly has what we need, but service is kind of inconsistent. One never knows what to expect! We come here sometimes because it is close to home and good for those last minute doggy emergency supply runs --like the primo food our hound doggies consume in mass quantities. Service is kind of hit and miss. Sometimes the cashiers are very helpful (i.e. I had to stuff a couple of dog crates in my car and the cashier called Ashleigh and she came out to the car with me and made them fit), and other times they are too busy chatting up the last customer while you stand there trying not to twitch. Last time I stopped here was because PetSmart did not have what we needed (Gasp! I know! ) Charlie came in with me, and he walked around very slowly and kind of had a bewildered look on his face. Very unCharlie like. It seemed he did not like the vibe. Too many fish? Too many kitty kats? Who knows?! I think he wanted to go back to PetSmart and be with his peeps (and pups). read more

STAY AWAY FROM THEIR GROOMING SERVICE!!!!!! I gave them 3+ tries and I am so sorry to my dog that I gave them so many chances. Every time he was groomed here, he came back with injuries from the grooming. (Which is UNACCEPTABLE) Also, the cut was not symmetrical each time! Like how does that even happen at a professionally proclaimed grooming shop? They always try to tell me how the cut is perfect and is indeed symmetrical whenever I point it out. However, if you have eyes..... Which they clearly don't..... You know it's one of the worst hair cuts ever. I give them one star for I guess... Cashier check out and having items I need in the store! read more

Worst grooming my dog has ever received, they tried charging me for extra services I didn't ask for. Im never bringing her here again.

Groomer cut my dog's eye and he had to be raced to the vet to get stitches! Groomer seemed tired and distressed. Assured me they'd take care of my dog. They did not properly shave my dog or throughly clean him. When I questioned them, they tried to lie and say it wasn't part of my service, which they assured me beforehand it was. Groomer then insisted on correcting her negligence, and cut my dog's eye with the clipper razor. If she didn't feel okay or comfortable trimming my dog she should have spoken up. Another groomer said it was my fault the dog was cut because I wanted perfection. That was wrong and out of place, they did not complete the service properly and they never advised me that it was too dangerous for him to be trimmed. The groomers there don't know how to handle animals and have attitudes. Please avoid and find somewhere safe and trustworthy to handle your pets. Petco, re-evaluate your grooming staff, changes need to be made. read more

I bring my pug here to grooming with Sonia. He is always happy to go with her. I feel bad because he isn't good with his nails...like most pugs...but she always get them so short! We also take Zopa to the weekly puppy socialization hour which has been extremely helpful. read more

My baby Girl Dolly had her first grooming visit at Petco and I was so happy to see my 5 month Brindle BullBoxer come out of her appointment well groomed and smelling great. When we first arrived, Dolly was a bit hesitant to enter the doors with strangers, and being a first time pet mom I almost didn't leave her. However Maritza (from the grooming department) made her feel comfortable which gave me peace of mind so I was able to leave her as I felt she was in good hands. I picked her up about a couple of hours later and I was so pleased to see Dolly wagging her tail and licking Maritza in excitement. I took my baby girl home and she was so playful and happy. Dolly and I are so pleased with the Service at the Petco Grooming Salon and will be going back again. :) read more

The employees there have been helpful but there are very few people who work there... or that you can find. Petco is where we go for over priced pet food and toys. I've been comint to this one for over two years now for grooming services and pet supplies. I no longer go here for supplies because feeds are so much cheaper and the quality of food is by far better then what is offered here. Grooming is pretty much the same experiance every time. I ask for my dog to not look like a poodle (although he is one) and he comes out looking like the Downey Soft bear. I'm not sure which is worse... however, the staff is super nice. Ive only ran into one woman here who didnt help me at all. I brought in my pitbull who needed his anal glads expressed and the girl charged me for an entire grooming and expression. Pitbulls dont need grooming! Needless to say, they got their money and Ive never taken the pitbull back. read more

Went to this location today , after only having a cat for 2 months I'm still new to being a fur baby mommy. I went in & wanted to ask someone for help because my cat just entered into heat, we went to get some stuff to help soothe and calm her & I wanted the advise from an employee there. Today is New Year's Day, no pet hospitals are open to get her fixed so in the meantime what do u use to help ur kitty during her heat phase. The worker by the name of Beth was so cold & rude in her response. She said, "nothing, get her fixed & don't let her go outside." OBVIOUSLY IM GOING TO GET HER FIXED.... but do u have a heating pad, calming collars, calming sprays, hemp drops, catnip, toys, my question is what do u recommend!!? I was so annoyed with her smart ass answer I just walked away. Her costumer service skills were horrible. Never coming back here again. Thanks Beth for all your help, u did nothing. read more

Love the store. They carry a wide variety of items. But their customer service leaves a lot to be desired! IE: Elizabeth rang us up 4/19/21. She asked if we had a petco membership? We said yes, but have had an issue with the membership coming up for the past 20 years... sometimes it comes up, sometimes it doesn't. She asked for phone#... didn't come up. She asked for name... didn't come up. (When this has happened in the past, employees are more than helpful.... either offer to use a different scan... or something to help) She offered no assistance, just wrong us up and told us total. Upon arriving home... we noticed that one item was $10 more than what it should have been. 4/20/21 We went back to the store the next day to get a refund on the amount over charged. It was Elizabeth again that we spoke to. She had us show her the item on the shelf. She said yes that's a member only price. Told her we are Members have been for over 20 years. She said it didn't ring as a member..... not her fault.... that's a customer service issue. Never apologized for us having to drive all the way back down, or for not offering a solution yesterday so we didn't get charged non member price. Just rude. I don't know where customer service has gone with employees..... but it'd be awesome to have it back. read more

I just went to this store the other day to get a dog vest to help my dog feel better. I got a size to big and came back the next day to do an exchange. I brought up the right size, had my receipt and was very nice to the employee. I let her know I just wanted to do an exchange and she proceeded to help. She said I can return it and sell you the new one, but I did ask if it could be an exchange because I did not want ot have to wait tell the money came free in my account. She then tried to do this and then said there was a difference in price. I asked why its the same on the shelf and she said taxes. I let her know I got it here yesterday so taxes should be the same. She then tried again then proceeded to return it and was confused because I paied half on card and 20 in cash. She then gave me the 20 and then started a new transaction. I said can I do the same 20 in cash and the rest on my card? She said yes then asked me to insert the card. She then told my that sje charged the card in full. At this point I wanted to leave so I said fine. I got home and later was going to put it on my dog to find out she range me up for the same size not the large I had wanted the exchange for. I called the store and it said to look at the website for hours. The site said tell 7pm and I got to the store at 535pm to find it locked. I understand things right now are changing but to have your hours be wrong in two locations is not good customer service. I will be tack to the store tomorrow to do my exchange again and will talk to someone about all this. I work retail amd I understand things are crazy right now but to have so many things wrong is a bit much. read more

Helped: Rye I brought in my puppy. Rye was very informative. She was also very enthusiastic, and was so loving to our puppy. She showed us where to get her treats and recommended treats that would help in training our puppy. She gave us a huge sample of the chicken jerky which our puppy loves now. She educated us on chewing bones and was very attentive to our needs. It helped a lot that she knew a lot of the products in the store and showed us where they were. It was a great overall experience and we're sure to come again with our puppy. read more

Our family loves this Petco, we became loyal customers last November when we started taking our 10 week old Australian Shepherd for puppy playtime. The trainer Maggie is super knowledgeable and down to earth. Our pup's first play time was rough- scared, barking, and unsure of other dogs, Maggie separated her and let her watch the other dogs play and see there was nothing to fear. The trainer gave really good tips about how to not correct dog communication and what to look for in play behavior vs excessive reactions which do warrant correction. It took almost the entire 30 minutes of class, but the last 10 minutes, our puppy started pouncing and playing with the other dogs. Maggie emphasizes how important consistency in socialization is (both with humans and other dogs), especially in the first 6 crucial months of a dog's life. After that first class, we would drive from Rancho Cucamonga 2-3 times a week and follow Maggie to whichever Petco she was training in. Our Aussie is now super social, playful, and well behaved. She's 10 months old and still learning, and has graduated from puppy play time to a weekly training class. We made sure to sign up with a class with the same trainer because we liked her so much, especially when compared to some of the other trainers we tried out. For new play time puppy owners, it's helpful to know that the trainer does cycle puppies in and out during play time for the best interest of the dogs-- usually only 2-3 play together at a time so if you go and don't get a lot of time that day, don't get frustrated, it's all part of the learning process for both owners and dogs. Keep coming back and the trainers will get to know your dog's play style and they'll get plenty of socialization while you learn a lot of helpful info. Thank you to everyone at Petco and especially to Maggie, on top of training we now shop here all the time and spend way too much spoiling our fur babies, lol. read more
