Rules are rules. Our daughter's dog has renal failure, gets daily subcutaneous dialysis, has been on the same brand of frozen renal diet for over almost 2 years, and sees her vet every month or two. She is out of town and we ran out of the renal diet. We have the Petco vet approval card, but it states it expired a couple of weeks ago. We cannot give her regular food and our daughter will not return for 3 days. Of course, the people at Petco cannot give us a small supply until our daughter returns and cannot recommend an alternative. They say they have sent an e-mail to out daughter 2500 miles away and she needs to take her dog to a vet. We are stuck on what to do and not harm the dog. Help read more

Petco doesn't seem to care if they sell injured or sick Guinea pigs. They also make false promises. I bought a Guinea pig with the promise that they'd have her looked at by a vet if there was a problem so long as it was within 30 days of purchasing her. The next day she started chewing on her foot and making it bleed so I brought her in to have a Petco vet look at it in case she had a foot parasite. The customer service representative wouldn't guarantee that I'd get her back if I dropped her off to be looked at by a vet. I asked if I could give them my number to call me after the vet looked at her, but the employee said that my number would likely be lost. I'm going to use hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin on her foot and hope that it gets better. I read on Google that those are okay for Guinea pigs (see below picture). read more

This was defiantly my worst visit at Petco ever. I wish I could put zero stars. I think her name was Beth. She was on the register. When we came in we were not greeted just looked at which was very awkward. Not one person asked if we needed help when we were there but it seemed like there were only 2 people there at the time. At checkout we waited a very long time while no one was at the register then Beth came back up. She was rude to us the entire time we were buying our items. At the end she just said "here you go" and handed me the receipt with no eye contact. I'm sure your supposed to say have a good day and invite the guest back. Another successful Positive Dog Training course. Maggie is the best! She is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know the owners and the dogs and what works for each situation. She not only offers great feedback and constructive criticism, but also has the research to back it up. We have taken the Puppy Level 1&2, as well as Behavioral Level 1 and signed up for the next round of classes with Maggie too. Her insight, compassion and dedication shines through during each of her classes and has really helped our Shiba Inu develop over these past few months. We continue to go to Montclair Petco for the great classes and above and beyond customer service provided by Maggie. No matter how many questions we have, she always makes sure to listen and offers great advice. Her passion for animals is like no other and she honestly cares for each pup in class. It is amazing seeing each of the classmates grow together and develop essential skills. this was so dumb I actually hate this place, so me and my mom walk in we're picking up our pet from grooming and we grab her card and go pay.My mom uses a different card and pays 75 and the remaining is $22 so she used 100 dollar bill and this guy calls the guy over his name is Bill and he checks under the machine he uses a machine to check if the $100 dollar bill is fake and it says it's fake but he only goes by what the mechanic says and nothing else but the 100$ is just really old we don't know how old but it's just old and we got that $100 bill from the bank"Chase" so if it's from a bank how will it be fake? And this nice kind lady comes up to us and says they checked it wrong because it is real just because it's not cut right doesn't mean it's fake it's a genuine 100 dollar bill so we went to the gas station to break it down since they wouldn't take our supposedly "100 dollar bill" that's got me pisses off warning these workers here are stupid expect for the grooming people read more

This is a rant but also a warning!! I went in because I wanted to look for a few vines and plants for my crested geckos tank. They had two baby crested geckos with nowhere to hide or climb. Just under a small log hiding. Poor babies had no where to go and no food out for them. They had a very small selection for reptiles that need plants to hide and branches or vines to climb on. Also, there was no dirt or soft terrain. It was all sand or rock. They also had those mats but my crested hated those mats. And forget about a feeding ledge. Crested geckos climb and look for food so good luck keeping a happy gecko without a feeding ledge. It was so disappointing! If you are planning to get a crested gecko or chameleon I would go find your tank, plants, terrain, and other decorations from a real reptile store that can give you better guidance and understanding for your crested geckos. Reptile stores also have a better food selection for these creatures. They can also guide you on your geckos food and nutrients better as well. So over all go to a reptile store. The baby crested geckos can sometimes also cost less at reptile stores. read more

But this Petco is different, First i order a dog shirt online that this place has showing that has 2 in stock, This is a curbside pickup, As soon as i came in to the store instead waiting in my car just to help them out maybe the employees are busy with the customers, Petco Employee telling me no its canceled , Because we dont have on stock, Ok no problem, Then when i was looking to those dog apparel in the shelves maybe i was thinking to get something else for my dog, It saw the dig apparel i ordered they have 2 in stocks, but the gurl in cashier told me they cancelled it because they were out of stock, I showed that dog aparrel to the ladt in cashier, And she couldnt say anything and she left...Another Person help me out. I was totally impressed with the service. Someone showed us all of the sale items. Another person showed me the coupons for new dog owners. I spent the morning at a shelter navigating the paperwork and finding a pet. They took the stress out of finding my needs for my new pet. I will be back. Came into Petco today on my lunch break around noon. Specifically looking for some sort of flea and tick control. I was able to find the aisle on my own, but once I got there...holy options there was alot to choose from. They had the drops that you put on your dog from neck following down the spine to the tail that lasts about 4 weeks price ranging from $39.99 - $94.99 I know some were a 3 month to 5 month supply. At that price i want to know exactly how it works and is it effective or even worth it. Then there were flea and tick shampoos, sprays and collars. I was looking for help but couldn't find anyone. The only employee I was able to see was the lady at the register. I probably stood there looking and reading the back of boxes for about 20 minutes until I decided to leave. Empty handed by the way. I'm going to try a different location by my house to see if I can get better assistance or any assistance there. read more

Used to like going to this location. However, recently I wanted to buy a bird and they didn't let me buy one. Said they are looking for families that will take good care of them when clearly they haven't done so themselves. Some of their budgies look unhealthy anyway. They have a cockatiel located next to the budgies, named Axel. He's clearly in bad condition, has droopy feathers, in a stressed state where it's noticeable he's been plucking his own feathers and depressed. It was an unpleasant experience, I already have birds of my own and they mean a lot to me. I buy them everything they need. Keep their cage clean and easy to tell they are content. Will not ever try to buy a bird from Petco again. Have bought 2 birds from this location and suddenly want to switch up on me. Will buy a bird and their food somewhere else from now on. Horrible store. This is the reason I don't go into ANY Petco. Me and fiancé went to the store initially to see if there was any cats... there was a sign out outside of the facility stating "cat adoptions today". There were no cats. So we proceeded to look at the reptiles since we also are reptile lovers. We have been looking for a new additon for our crested gecko family. We only have one female and didn't want another male since they will mate. We saw two crested geckos in the tank for sale. We could clearly see that one of them was a male and we didn't know what the other ones gender was. We asked the worker if we could take a look at the gecko and they had given us a big sigh and proceeded to walk over to the tank. We asked if he could move the gecko to see the gender and he said "what are you guys trying to find out the gender" we said "yes" and the he said "oh I can't tell you the gender till you buy the gecko because we don't want you to breed them". This statement is redundant due to the fact that the priority of the animals should be it's well being. Like does it have a good home? Will it have a good life? Will these people purchasing this animal take good care of it? No, Petco and it's employees only care about the money that will be made from one purchase. read more

the service in the store is excellent however this poor rating is about the grooming services. I called the grooming department to make an appointment for my 11 week old pup to get the puppy package grooming. The women took all the pups information including vaccines and made me an appointment. I also filled out the form on line and since my pup was younger I was referred to the grooming departments phone number. I called the grooming department's number. the women confirmed my pup could be groomed. took my pup to the scheduled appointment and said they would not groom her because she was not 12 weeks old. this was a total waste of time and gas. Just took my dog in today to get groomed. Always a great experience. John is awesome! Takes the time to explain everything in the different packages. My dog is always smelling great and her coat is so shiny! Everyone is always so kind and polite and really take the time to make her feel comfortable. The only issue I had today was that is was a busy day and I was unable to make an appointment over the phone due to no answer multiple times, I did then try to go online and make an appointment only to discover the website was having issues and I was unable to make an appointment. I then headed in to see about an appointment which they had nothing at the time and I had come back later in the afternoon. Took my cocker spaniel to be groomed here on many occassions the last of which a phone call was made to say my dog was was aggressive and would not let herself be touched/groomed. Never had a problem before this at this place. When we arrived at home she had a noticeable limp on her hind leg the area where she wouldnt let touch. How interesting that the area not to be touched is where a limp is. Theyd rather say shes banned then take responsibility. Obviously I cant take her there anymore cause of the ban but even if I could never again would I use their grooming. read more

First a bad experience with unleashed, now with Petco itself. Went in to get my puppy some food, they were out on the shelf so i asked an employee she said there was some in the back. She goes back there and starts pulling out pallet after pallet. After twenty minutes of this i ask her whats going on? She said she has three more pallets to pull out. So i said I'd come back. Next morning still not on the shelf, happened to find the same lady as yesterday. She goes in the back for another twenty minutes only to come out and tell me there out and to just use a different one. I was very unsatisfied with the customer service at this location. Usually, I do not leave reviews, but I think it's necessary for customers to be aware of how their pets could be treated. Right from the start, they took in my dog by pulling him from the collar hard and dragged him. His name is Justin! I stayed outside and observed from the clear window when the person who was going to groom my dog pushed my dog in with his foot. That is very UNACCEPTABLE! He wasn't even paying attention because he was on his PHONE. From there I decided to NEVER take my dog ever again there and I ended up not even grooming him after I visually saw how my dog was treated. 6-22-19 went to puppy play time at 1:00pm with my pit bull that's very calm and just gets excited around other dogs like every other puppy does , the trainer does not know what she was talking about or either know how to let puppies play, she used my pup as an example on how you don't want your dog to be when my dog was the only one NOT barking, the first 5 minutes in she asked me to take my pup outside to "use the restroom " came back in and she didn't let my puppy going back in until the like few minutes. With in those few minutes he was in there she took all the other dogs out of the play area and showing other owners my dogs behavioral talking about how that wasn't the way raise a dog, I'll just recommend other bully owners not to waste their time and feel discriminate and left out, won't be returning for any events and won't be recommending this location to any other dog owners read more

The cashier in the front was nice, asked where I can get fish assistance nobody back there, she sent me to maggy I believe. She was attending to the fish at the time.
