I arrived at Pet Supermarket right at 7:57 not realizing they were closing early due to COVID-19. Their hours via Google still reflect 9AM to 9PM, the young girl working the closing shift was taking what seemed like a personal call on her cellphone. She proceeded to look me dead in the eye and lock the doors. I couldn't believe it, we are in the middle of a pandemic with a failing economy. You would think they would be welcoming customers, especially after being without a job during the month long closures. The parking lot is deserted as always, this location was never very popular and on its way to closing it's doors already. Maybe it's time to reevaluate your staff before you are forced to close your doors forever. P.S. I would have been in and out with-in 5 minutes. read more

So they got a shipment of fish with ich. unfortunately new associate was inexperienced and dumped the fish with water in tanks. I had purchased a pearl gourami from there. So i didnt catch that it had caught ich. Wiped out some of the weaker small fish and 3 gourami in my tank. I called the location and advise them thet there is ich in their tanks. Managers were aware and they had treated all fish tanks. They also told me they are making sure that all new fish are treated on arrival. Diana told me that they will make things right for me wednesday. I am impressed they owned up to a mistake that was not solely theirs. read more

The groomer (Aubrey) in the grooming salon at the Arapaho location in Richardson did a superior job on a full detail grooming of my large, thick-coated white Goldendoodle, and that's saying a lot. There are a lot of little details to grooming a thick coated Goldendoodle correctly, and Aubrey is the first groomer I have used that knew all the lil' tricks. While I was there, on one visit, Aubrey took the time to patiently help a regular customer grind her doberman's nails just outside the actual grooming area, while the customer looked on... you won't get this sort of personal service just anywhere. I highly recommend the grooming services here. read more

I stopped by here from my classes and I'm so amazed by the customer service and product selection. I needed to buy two dog beds that suited my furry children's needs. The prices were very reasonable and they had exactly what I needed. I was greeted at the door (which is big deal for me as I've worked high end retail before transferring colleges) and was helped carry my items to my car. Small supermarket for your pets! They have decent prices, just like ones you would find at Petco or petsmart. They have a bulletin board in the back near the restroom where you may post pictures and information about lost dogs or cats. Or if you're wanting to get rid of one but don't want to send it to the shelter you may also post it on the bulletin board as well. It's like you're fostering the animal until they find their forever family rather than leaving them alone and scared at a shelter. In my opinion, I think it's pretty neat and sweet of them. Good customer service. Very helpful and friendly. Make sure to sign up for the v.i.p. card, it's free. They have a good amount of other deals as well (10 bags of dog food any size, get 1 free). Stocks a good variety of items for a good variety of pets at a very decent price. I have a guinea pig and the items there are much cheaper and cooler than that which you can find at Petsmart, and my piggie loves it. Also a tiny dog that loves the tiny toys they have in their selection. Usually if I want a tiny toy, i would either have to buy it in a pack at a more expensive price, but this place has A+ selection. Have already revisited and planning to visit again tomorrow to buy a tiny tennis ball for my dog. The normal one keeps popping out of his mouth. Also, individual doggie treats and desserts at a super good price. Seriously, my dog loves those treats. read more

I was very excited to know that a new pet store was opening so close to home. I was looking for a pet groomer which by stopping by, they didn't offer. I tried a second time for aquatic lights, which they didn't have. The third time I stopped by was to purchase fish and had the experience of meeting their store manager. I was confused why she was so impersonal and put off by her demeanor. I asked where she was from, she answered Russia. I took into consideration maybe she was just a little different, but as the time progressed, I label her Rude. I did revisit that store but it will be my last time as long as she works there. Her name is Melissa Ledbetter otherwise known as young girl with a big attitude problem. A few girls that work there are sweet, some have no knowledge and they ask their manager a lot of questions. It's a tiny store with a few items to choose. I would make this store my last resort. There are stores available with a much friendlier staff, lower prices and you're not worn out dealing with girls with attitude. I have frequently visited other pet stores who say that they get business coming in complaining about Pet Supermarket in Hickory NC customer service or lack of. I have never met a manager treat me so cruel and get away it. Not ever again. read more

They know little to nothing about reptiles but apparently sell them. I was sent a picture of a horribly treated and dehydrated Savannah Monitor who had an emaciated tail, bloated belly, lethargic eyes and head shoved into SAND. My main concerns are that 1. Savannah Monitors do NOT belong on sand, in the wild they dig in moist soil. 2. I had called and asked to speak to someone and explained politely the situation and an employee there only said to me "Thanks have a nice day bye" and hung up. 3. It took me having to post the poor baby on multiple sights for someone to finally get a hold of the owner who evidently sent the animal to a vet (so I have been told) and Id give them credit for that, however it was WAY past the point where that animal should have been pulled from the store and looked at. Do not sell animals you do not know basic care for, it takes 2 seconds to do a quick Google search to save an animals life and improve it's well being. read more

I have been to this location several times but today was the worst experience and I'm absolutely appalled by the management. I went in today to get a Betta Fish, they carry a large selection what I found was inexcusable every single one needed water changes there were at least 5 fish who had passed on the floor that I pointed out to an associate. Their response was they looked fine this morning. The water was cloudy on every one of them along with bacteria and mold growing in the water and containers. I asked to speak with the manager who blew it off and said he it's in our list tonight. I wanted to just immediately start Changing the water I could see fish gasping and about to die. There were at least 5 employees working when I was up there and the store was empty besides me. I refuse to give money to a company who employ people who don't care about the well being of the animals in that store. I cannot deal with this kind of lack of caring. You have lost a customer for life!!! read more

TERRIBLE. I had a problem last month with a coupon loading on my phone; the clerk said if I could print it out and bring back with the receipt, they would give me the discount. He never said there was a time limit. I went back yesterday with the receipt and the coupon, and the clerk (a different one)said the coupon was expired and couldn't figure out how to ring it up on the register. Then he showed it to the other clerk, who suggested a way to do it, but he said " If we do that, it will raise a red flag with corporate for sure!" So he then made it sound like it was my fault. It wasn't that much money, but I have spent a lot of money in there since the day they opened, and won't go back. I had over $50 worth of things in my cart when this happened, and I left without buying them. Clerks who are more concerned about what "corporate" thinks than taking care of customers send a bad message about the way this store is operated. read more
