My Maltese, Ayla B, has been attending Pet training with Kayli at PetSmart and the results are amazing! She graduated from beginner and intermediate levels and now is able to sit, lay, stay, heal, switch, focus and come. I'm sure I left something out but bottom line. I am a pretty loyal patron of PetSmart. Their pets rewards are awesome and there's some very kind people that work there. However, today when I went in to go buy a new lightbulb for my little lizard , I witnessed something absolutely horrible. The manager was absolutely berating a woman that worked there in front of all of the customers. He was yelling at her telling her how stupid she was and just being very awful. Seeing this kind of thing makes me very upset and so I said something and the manager told me to stay in my lane and never mind what is going on there because it's not my business. The absolute worst place to take your pets for grooming if you care about them. My dog has been getting groomed at PetSmart for 4+ years, no problem. All of the sudden, she starts getting groomed by Amber at the Richardson location & she's ungroomable, needs to be medicated. I called & filed a complaint & then Nathaniel, the manager or whoever he is because I thought Andrew was the manager, as he greeted me in store when I picked her up this last time to tell me to take my dog to her vet even though I'd taken her to Banfield & got her medicated like they asked & they still claimed the zombie I brought them was too "wiggly" to groom. Even aske me to ask the vet to up the dosage, like what's the goal here, she's barely walking, you want me to bring her in dead? My dog could barely bark she was so zoned out. Anyway, Nathaniel sends some generic chat GPT response talking about thank you for taking the time to complete the survey which let me know then he didn't have a clue about what was going on, just backing the groomer because I didn't fill out survey, I called customer care & filed a complaint. I understand bettas can not live together because they are territorial. I have bettas of my own and I understand this. But the living situation with the bettas at petsmart are simply inhumane and upsetting to see. I know the cups are meant to be temporary homes but who would want to buy sick bettas? 80-90% of the bettas looked Ill, some couldn't swim properly and were swimming on their side, strange dull colors meaning they're stressed, broken tails etc. this picture is a DEAD one In the cup. I'm never the kind of person to write a review, but i felt I had to with this one. Words can not explain how disappointed I felt leaving pet smart. First starters, the groomer arrived 15 minutes late to the appointment, talk about unprofessionalism. Then they gave me a call saying they had to stop the appointment MID CUT because his skin was "irritated" which I was okay with initially. However, I soon found out that was not the case. After getting a vet and a different groomers opinion, his skin was completely fine and he just needed a break during the service. Additionally, we found out that the groomer had shaved the dog wet. And for those who don't know, that's a big mistake in the grooming world. What the PetSmart groomer failed to realize, is that dogs need patience, especially if they're new to grooming (which they knew). While I was at work, my daughter rescued a baby wild bird. She looked up what to feed it and gave it water, she called WildLife rehab, animal shelters for advice. I didn't get home in time to take him anywhere that day so we went to Pet Smart to find some better food. A female worker walked up to my dtr while I was in an aisle. My dtr didn't say or ask anything and the worker told her "we don't get involved in wild birds, it's for sure going to die. It's mother will reject it because it smells like you" My dtr was devestated and cried! We hadn't asked that worker for a thing!! These ppl have harm my dog and when the dog mom calls in they try to fast talk her and just offer her bs lies and a refund. They also offered their vet... ha why would I want to ever send my dog to somewhere connected to them, heck no! This has happened not once but twice and these fools want us to sweep this under the rug. I will be taking legal actions and also social media will be getting these pics and stories as well. I don't typically write negative reviews, but my dog's grooming was the worst I have ever had. I knew something was wrong when it took more than 3 hours when the groomer said it would be about 45 mins. After 3 hours, I went up and waited. When they brought out my little Shih Tzu, who is so sweet and mild mannered, it wasn't the groomer who gave him to me. The groomer didn't greet or look at me from behind the counter. My dog seemed fine, but when I brought him home, I noticed that under his ear, he had been cut too close and he had dried blood. Then I noticed that the large mole he had on his back was a lot smaller. It looked like it had been cut off. It looks infected now so we're taking our dog to the vet. I'm so disappointed. Nobody said anything to me about the mishaps. They just hid it. I have heard horror stories about groomers, but I've never experienced it. Never again will I take our dog to a PetSmart groomer. It's a risk I'm not willing to take again. We normally take our dog to get groomed at the vet, but our vet groomer was on medical leave. Thankfully she is back now. read more

Im never bringing my dog to this location again. She has been coming here to get groomed for over 5 years. Her initial groomer did great but she left the next lady Krystal did good and she left. Now this new groomer Tatum cut my dog!!! I brought her here at 8am and did not pick her up until almost 2pm just for a grooming. The groomer Tatum called me and asked if she had ever peed on the table before while being groomed I told her no, she even looked at the notes from previous appointments and confirmed this had never happened. She told me she peeped and pooped twice on the table, and it could have been because the other dog in the room has an anxiety issue. I picked my dog up took her home. The next morning I walk her before work and I see this cut. I called the salon talked to Tatum and asked why didn't she mention she cut my dog! She says she didn't remember cutting her and that I could send pics for her manager to see. I asked to speak with the manager she said she was busy! I went up there spoke with a manager not sure of the guys name and he was kind enough to issue a refund. Also that I could get my dog checked by their vet for free. Long story short I will never bring her back here. Thank you to the kind manager who helped me out. This location has a high turn over with groomers within the last year so beware. I took my dogs to get groomed a multiple times, and two times have left extremely disappointed. The first time we left my dog's paw was bleeding because they cut his nails too short. When I called back to ask what happened, the manager was unhelpful, and they basically told me it was my fault? The second time I asked for them to trim up behind his legs and around his ears, and picked him up to a fully shaved golden retriever that had numerous uneven cuts, and they didn't even finish grooming his legs. Absolutely shocking. We will never bring my dog ever again. The staff is extremely unhelpful and doesn't listen to your requests. read more

Luis did a great job with my dog's bath and brush even with her anxiety. He was really great at keeping her calm and she had a pep in her step when we left. Had an appointment on my day off to get my dog groomed. I had previously brought in my rabies papers so they had it logged in. When I came in they said it was expired. No problem. Immediately left and emailed my vet. She said it wasn't expired till December. I went home and checked. They had entered the wrong date. I called to let them know and if they could squeeze us in due to their error. The lady on the phone didn't seem to care and said they have appointments for tomorrow. Upset with the customer service. I planned my day around to have my dog pampered and they couldn't even fix their own mistake an hour after our appointment time (1:30). I cannot believe my experience of yesterday afternoon. First came Aug 3 with a rescued kitty and left satisfied. My regular vet costs so much more and my senior cat has special needs. When I returned a week later it was not the amount of the bill but, rather, heading home w/ shampoo/dip/cone -- not realizing from my mobile DVM (treating my senior) that a compound prepared at Dougherty's Pharmacy (given 1x a week) would turn the ringworm around in about two weeks although quarantine would continue. Why would you bathe for weeks at a time? This baby is less than three pounds. With a cone? So I called Banfield back w/ Dougherty's contact info, name & number of my DVM for questions, and name of script. With no return phone call called again. Script was ready. Should have questioned a compound that takes Dougherty's three days. They had refilled the antibiotic for the URI for ringworm. Had no idea they needed to fill an eye script. Their DVM had thought eye would be OK second visit. Had called pre-pickup indicating eye was worse. Thought that mssg had gotten thru. On first visit ears were not checked. This is new for me. Knew nothing of ear mites, diagnosed on second visit. DVM asked if she should clean ears. Took 20 min. Nasty. Now, begrudgingly, gave me credit for the dip and offered antibiotic as a courtesy but we have that script at home. Keeping shampoo as I wait for an appt from my mobile DVM and then three days for compound. Cannot return $8 cone. Had been assured pre-visit mgr would be available re credit for shampoo and dip (now 1-use shampoo...$20) but "at lunch." Waited to call today when I was not so upset. Phones are not switched o/ for Banfield and I must wait. No client can get thru. Second visit almost $300. Left w/ eye script but my mobile DVM visit will be $40 + cost of compound at Dougherty's. Pls share my experience. Putting communication aside, why don't they know of ingested compound for ringworm? What about clients that would not ask? ***** Addendum: Just got through. Manager kindly listened but gave no indication she would address any of these issues. Never considered a refund. Just don't want this happening to someone else. read more

I came here for the first time during the adoption event in November, the Dallas Animal Services in the adoption center were waiving the adoption fees for dogs and cats. When I called I was shocked to hear that, but I rushed over! It was only for that weekend due to overcapacity I believe. When arriving, there were a TON of cats and dogs just waiting to be adopted. I thought that the ladies working at the front desk of the center weren't the friendliest. I figured that they would know SOMETHING about the animals I was asking about but all I got was a "read the paper" with an attitude. There was one lady outside which was kind, and helped. I was able to take the cats out and play with them which was helpful, but it would have made the experience so much better to have someone in the adoption center that was a little more friendly and helpful. One thing I was skeptical about was when I came back to the shelter a week later with a friend who was looking for a cat and there were NO cats. The week before, all of the cages were full and some had multiple cats, so I'm wondering where they all went. Hopefully they really were all adopted out during the event. The employees of Petsmart were the friendliest, they helped you get what you really needed for a first adoption, and were honest of the things you really didn't need just yet (Not trying to just sell). If you adopt at Petsmart you will get a free bag of food and coupons that will help you out for the first few meals and whatnot. read more

The folks in the pet adoption are amazing! We were interested in a dog by the name of "Mona" and had originally met her at an animal shelter. While we were still deciding, she was sent to this location. When we visited her for the second time, she was a completely different dog and just so happy, energetic and playful. You could see how much these people cared about all the animals. Whenever we take her to a PetSmart, she gets so excited and runs to the back looking for her friends. We planned to surprise them and let them know we had finally adopted her but, due to COVID-19, we weren't able to visit. But we will stop by soon! Thank you! read more

This review is specifically for the Grooming department here! I have taken our dogs here multiple times for a wash or cut. The friendly employees are always easy to work with and appointments are a breeze to make. I often get emails or messages when there is a special going on (25% off grooming after 4pm!), and I love to take advantage of them. The groomer Joy has taken care of our dogs Cooper and Oscar and every time they are groomed with such fantastic attention to detail. Even when we are just going in for a bath and brush out (Maltese hair can get pretty matted), they always come back fluffy and clean. We use to take our dogs to Legacy Grooming but ever since we moved to Richardson PetSmart is literally a 1 minute drive and the service is wonderful. I don't spend too much time walking around the store but its a great box store for all your basic pet needs. If you are looking for a new groomer for your dog I recommend Joy at PetSmart! One benefit they are in the same shopping center as Target, so you can shop instead of sitting around waiting. read more

I purchased two boxes of K9 Advantix here, costing about $160. It unfortunately broke my dogs out and caused sores wherever it touched them. I tried to return it and they refused. Apparently they don't do returns on these types of things. The issue I have is that they should tell you that when you buy it, which they did not. Shame on me for not asking at the time of purchase, I didn't even think about it. I won't patronize a store that is so deceptive. After a month of emails to their corporate office, they decided to do the return. I was happy with the overall outcome. However, I won't buy this type of product there again. read more

Like most retail chains, you will find the usual mainstream products for your dog or cat here with no problem. Most of the prices are nationally set, so you're not looking at much of a difference. This location is nice however because of its location off of Coit. It sits at the north end of the shopping center and is somewhat isolated. That means easy parking! Fish, lizards and birds can be found here too. Dogs/cats probably on adoption days...but I didn't see any for sale (which is good). Again..its not the most dynamic store in the world, but in our hail corporate culture, its what we have. Enjoy! read more

One even got me to switch litter to blu buffalo walnut shells. Its always clean when I go. When the line gets too long, they usually open another. No downsides to this place. Terrible experience and customer service. I've got a very shy dog and let them know this going in. Made my appointment on-line and was called to reschedule. When I called back they simply said that they simply couldn't take him at the time I had booked him but no other explaination. And that the rest of the day was full. Spoke with the manager and they went ahead and kept the appointment. Took my pup in and let them know that he was very shy and took time to warm up to things and I didn't want him to look like a poodle. She kept telling me how matted he was (he wasn't) and that he may just need to be shaved down. Would more than likely look like a poodle. (WHAT!) I left him praying he would turn out ok. I wasn't gone 15mins when I got a call that they couldn't groom him for the day. They had tried to use the dryer on him to look at his matting and he was fligging himself all over and actually pooped on himself! What had they done to him. I went immediately and picked him up. When I got him and walked to the car I noticed he stunk...you guessed it-Poop! They hadn't botherd to even wipe him down. Wasn't expecting a bath at this point but seriously I'm suppose to put a poopy dog in my car. This is strickly a business grooming facility. They don't care about your dog. If your dog doesn't just walk in and stand there and leyt them do anything they want to them. They will not work with them. read more

Standard PetSmart but a little bit dingy inside. There was a $5 off sign in front of a bag of cat food that I was looking at, but the price tag looked like a sale price had been ripped off. When I asked an associate what the price should be, she looked at me like I was speaking another language. After pointing at the sign and the ripped off tag, she said she had no idea. She asked someone else for help who looked equally confused. Eventually, he said "oh, that sign was for something else" after scanning the item and it showing the regular price. Neither of them seemed to grasp that the item with the $5 off sign in front of it was the only item on the diaplay. Ugh!!! read more
