They made our drinks before we went to sit down. We paid easily on Venmo. We found a cozy spot inside out of the hot spring heat where we could see the chef working. The food came out in reasonable time and was super tasty. I'm so impressed with what they can do in the small kitchen! People behind me in line had gotten their food long before. Thankfully we weren't in a hurry that day but that is a pretty long wait in my opinion for brunch. I explained, with a crying baby in my arms, that I know there isn't open seating and that my family was at the counter ordering and that I wasn't planning on sitting in my current (again, completely empty section) spot and that I was just trying to calm down my daughter. I was met with an eye roll and an even blunter "Well there's no open seating here, you can't sit here." ????? Some understanding, or a suggestion of where to go, would have gone a long way. This was my first mother's day, and my first food outting with my daughter, and starting it off this way was so uncomfortable and awkward that I'm not sure I'll come back here.

Slough food itself is a small store with some deli sold up front and other items like wine and specialty foods and gifts. Lovely people work there. Very welcoming! They're also known for Friday prime rib nights, which I haven't enjoyed yet but it's on my list. The service here is super friendly. I've been three times this summer and one of the bartenders already recognizes me! It can be a little slow getting served on busy nights, so I recommend ordering as soon as you can if you're hungry. This co-op in Skagit is filled with healthy alternatives, fresh produce, and even a juice/coffee/snack bar serving up some delicious bites. I found a number of local products and beers to buy from the grocery side, and a mushroom sandwich. I cannot properly describe the deliciousness of this sandwich - you just had to be there. I also loved that the co-op's second story is filled with the most unique home and gift items you'll find. Everything is sustainable first, and they even have a decent book selection. Couldn't imagine a better place to spend my Saturday, just wish I lived closer so I could visit every weekend.
