Great little cafe and package goods place. Food is really fresh and delicious and back patio overlooking water is sweet!

Wow! Now this is how you spell paella!

If you are lucky enough to be in the area on the once a month event of " Paella Day" then rejoice and jump in! The vibe in the outdoor seating near the slough is a bit magical too. I can't consider myself to be a paella connoisseur, but this is fabulous! I'm grateful that it does not have much hot chili flavor, and is very savory rather than hot. Paella is: "A Spanish dish of rice, saffron, chicken, seafood, etc., cooked and served in a large shallow pan."

I love this little places in Bow next to Bread Farm! They order some small bites and wine and it is perfect for the afternoon gathering. It is a small place so highly recommended to come during the weekdays to enjoy the view of their back yard seating! Also, they are offering paella over this summer and it is AMAZING

so good! had a cup of soup & shared the panini with a friend and it was so good! KJ is wonderful, took great care of us! beautiful spot...

This place is located in the center of Edison next to the slough (hence the name of the place) and what a gem it is. There is plenty of street parking available close to the establishment, even during peak times The front of store is actually a wine store and the back is where the restaurant is at. When I came here on a Sunday, they were having a paella party. For $20, you get a generously large plate of deliciously hot paella. The flavor is one of the best I've had and the seafood is definitely fresh. The vibe is also fantastic. Note that there is only covered outdoor seating at this restaurant.

My bestie and I stopped into Slough for a light lunch and a glass of wine while playing in the north. Edison is small. Free street parking can be found. Parking is tight. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Slough functions as a small market, deli and bistro. Local goods can be purchased to take home. A limited menu offers light lunches and/or snacks that one can enjoy either indoors or outdoors. Slough is small and intimate so not ideal for large groups. We opted to sit outside where a few mismatched tables are set up so that people can enjoy the view of the slough. Tabs are paid for at the register indoors. My bestie and I each started out with a red glass of wine for $7 each. We shared the Grilled Cheese sandwich for $8.50. The sandwich was prepared with local ingredients (Bread Farm bread and Beecher's cheese). Our sandwich was delicious and the perfect light lunch. We each also enjoyed the side of mini crunchy dill pickles served with our sandwich. Staff was friendly and relaxed. Thank you Slough for your passion of offering/using local wares. Thank you Slough for providing my bestie and I a laid-back place to catch-up with one another.

Sitting behind Slough Food on a hot, lazy Sunday with a glass of cool, crisp French pinot noir, watching the Edison Slough float by, I have never been so happy on a picnic bench in recently memory. A simple and courteous business with very simple options, charcutterie, cheese plates, wine, a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, and a rustic, basic (picnic table & patio chairs) setting. Very, very basic food offerings. More of a wine shop than anything, but with a unusual and relaxing setting out back. If you have time, make it a point to sit in the backyard and watch the afternoon float slowly by.

Slough Food is one of our favorite stops when we only have a few hours to get away but want to do something really special. It's a tiny place, tucked in among the quaint little shops and restaurants of "downtown" Edison, and it's a real gem. We like to order the bread, cheese, and salumi plate, a couple of pints of beer, and sit out along the slough behind the store. Afterward, we stop next door at the Bread Farm and get a couple of cookies for dessert...and if there's time we hit a couple of the little trinket shops in town. In addition to the bread/cheese/salumi plate we love so much, Slough also offers a delicious variety of sandwiches, soups, wine by the bottle or glass, and other gourmet favorites. The service is friendly and helpful, too. Be sure to check their website before you go, as Slough Food's not open every day. I also hear they have some great events in the garden during the summer.

Wonderful food. Quirky, off-the-radar town. Bucolic views of the slough. Excellent for a lazy Sunday.

Absolutely amazing place for wines. Absolutely amazing…read more I wanted to find somewhere to buy a bottle of wine for friends we were going to have dinner with later that day: he's a chef and the former part-owner of a series of very popular restaurants in Seattle (owned by his family)... so no ordinary wine was going to do. We spied Compass Wines by accident driving from Anacortes toward I-5 Southbound, and took a chance that they might have a good selection of wines with which to choose from. Indeed they do. The individual who helped me not only recommended an exceptional wine -- a 2016 vintage of a Cabernet Sauvignon -- but one that impressed my friend... who is not easily impressed. Not at all. What's more, they were featuring Scotch -- and while my partner and I seldom drink, we occasionally have a bit of scotch every once in a while (we still have a few bottles purchased ten years ago... almost all of them have only had 4-5 ounces consumed). My partner and I are very partial to Macallan, but the Gordon & Macphail won out. Single malts rock! It's been my experience that those wine stores that have great selections cater to regular customers who know a great deal about wine -- but they tend, more often than not, to be a bit snobbish and look down upon those of us whose knowledge of wine wasn't genetically-encoded in our DNA. Not these people: the proprietors were very forgiving and helpful, and they know their wines! (And Scotch!) The individual helping me took all the time I needed to gather information about which Cabernet to buy, and it certainly paid off for me! That kind of service should be a standard for other companies to emulate. What impressed me more was their selection of Leonetti Cellar wines: I've known Gary Figgens, the owner of Leonetti Cellar, for over 40 years -- and have a number of their wines in my cellar. I'd give Compass Wines a sixth star if possible... just on the merit of featuring Leonetti Cellar wines, one of six favorite vintners. I do know enough about domestic wines to understand that this store has a superlative selection -- and I'd love to come back and talk about foreign wineries and wines. I know a good deal about Australian, New Zealand, German and Austrian wines.., but I'd like to come back just to see what I might learn. A friend of mine, working in London for a prestigious law firm, thought he might purchase a derby to wear. He spent three and one-half very enjoyable hours in conversation and being fitted for a derby, and felt so impressed by the impassioned storekeeper that he write him a letter thanking him for a memorable day. While I intended to pop into the store and quickly buy a bottle of wine, I spent 83 minutes in conversation about Cabernet Sauvignon, Scotch, and Scotland. There are many wine stores in Washington -- and the U.S. -- but very few of them are of the quality of Compass Wines in terms of selection, knowledge, and customer service. Try them!
