Wow. I lived in this town a year before I went here. This place is really cool. The staff is great, and I was lucky enough to stop on my way home for a bottle... and ended up staying for an hour, learning about wines, the industry, the owner, and tasting several wines. I don't know much about wine, but I've since learned the owner of this place is a legend in the industry. Pretty cool if you ask me. I expected to be up-saled in this place, which is why I always buy wine at Costco or Safeway. But instead they sold and recommended some of the cheapest wines they had (over the more expensive alternatives). And it was great wine! The store is clean, inviting, cozy and well organized... and the staff is great. I will be back whenever I need a wine fix or a present. In fact, I look forward to it.

No pretense, just the perfect wine shop. The staff can provide spot-on recommendations for any menu, palate or price range.

I was over the moon when I found out BOTP was back after a two year absence (thx covid). This has…read morealways been one of my fave beer festivals, with its cool indoor pier setting, live music, and generally being a pretty darned thorough fest in a semi small town. Things have definitely changed, though, since I last attended in 2019. Most noticeable was that there were far fewer breweries and cideries in attendance. In its heyday, BOTP had a whole separate section just for cider. Now, the cider vendors were sprinkled amongst the breweries, making it even more apparent that some of the PNW brewery stalwarts were not in attendance. Kulshan, Stemma, Boundary Bay, North Sound, Wander, Aslan, and many of the great Seattle-area breweries were nowhere to be seen. Shoutout, though, to local greats from Farmstrong to Georgetown for being there. Just wish there were more! The music was great - the Naughty Blokes were pretty entertaining, although I must confess I kinda missed the old polka band that used to play the festival. Gone, too, was the costume contest (though I still saw a few dudes in leiderhosen making the rounds). Perhaps most disappointing were the food trucks. There were three meal-oriented trucks and one serving kettle corn. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS though. We paid $17 for four street-sized tacos at the Mexican Food truck! Hopefully 2022 is just a transition year for BOTP, and they'll be back in full glory next year.

There is a booth to buy additional tasting tickets. Also at that booth, though they were not advertising them, you could buy a string of mini-pretzels for $2. Nice to have something to munch on as you walked around. Also they had food trucks where you could buy dinner, and free bottles water. The venue is an old warehouse type of building on a commercial wharf. It had a fun vibe to it. Definitely bring a warmer layer if there is any wind or rain forecast. One downside was that the band was very loud and it was difficult to have a conversation inside the building.

They have a great, inexpensive and unpretentious wine list with plenty by the glass. We split a glass of rose and it was lovely! The food was just okay. They bragged about having large portions but our $18 cheese plate was a small snack for sure. It also said it came with fruit and chocolate and they only brought out the cheese, crackers, and nuts. Not sure if they were out, we didn't have enough time to talk to our server to figure this out. The servers were all in a huge hurry and missed a lot. I know they were busy and don't completely blame them, but it was definitely amiss. They asked if we wanted more wine and we said no, so they cleared our food quickly even though we were still eating. They also put a reserved sign on our table while we were still there (we only stayed maybe 25-30 min) and told us that someone else wanted our table. It was kind of rude and we felt super rushed by the servers. We really felt like we were being hurried out and didn't get the full experience. They also took our water glasses and dumped them on the ground next to us while we were still sitting and before we were done. They could not have been more blatant about wanting us to go even though we weren't there long. I would probably revisit on a slower day to see if things improved, but the service wasn't great.

With their home made three day rise crust and cheese from the local cows!? Like how fresh and fabulous could it get! I also tried out their arugula salad and it was scrumptious. Perfect bite and finally a place with even dressing distribution! The perfect salad to pile on top of a slice of pizza. Don't knock it till you try it. ;) Make sure to try some of their home made root beer when you get there! Definitely a place worth stopping by.

I'm not sure this pizza worked as well as I'd imagine- the crust was pretty burnt in places, and quite chewy. My friend who loves making pizzas suspected the dough was over worked. The dates were rough chopped into large pieces, so bites alternates between really bitter arugula, and then extremely sweet and chewy dates. Chopping the dates finer and maybe doing a quick seasoning/oil rub on the arugula would've helped. Overall, it lacks balanced flavor, it didn't quite meld well together. The pizzas aren't that big, and are pretty pricey for the result. - For the veg/vegans: There's around 3 options- cheese, margarita, and the first date pizza (arugula, apple, dates). Thankfully vegan Daiya mozzarella is an option! Although I did miss the more nuanced flavors Miyoko has.
