Oh Yeah. When you are craving chicken fried steak breakfast at dinner time, THIS is the place to go. Gravy had real bits of sausage in it and was delightfully hot, Crispy hash browns came out just the way I ordered them, English muffin looked like it had swam the English Channel of butter. (note to self, Easy on the butter next time). Waitresses were attentive and Ice tea never got to half full before one of the girls asked if I wanted a refill. Went here with family visiting and we all loved it. Between all of us, we ordered omelets, pancakes, french toast and bacon. Everything was great. Came in after the Spring Fling for a bite to eat. There is no greeting by staff when you enter. We were looked at and then ignored. The girls are busy chatting amongst themselves. Finally I asked a girl if we sit ourselves and she said no would you like a table or a booth? We sat at a booth and looked over our menus. We both ordered the California burger and ice teas. I love the desserts here! The food is average, probably the best tasting item (to me at least) is their Philly cheese steak sandwich. Their brownie sundays with hot fudge and vanilla bean ice cream is a weekly must have! Not to mention how huge it is. The service is always very friendly and personally I think the new decorations (farm theme including barn doors etc.) is a bit much but it is what it is. Went because it was walking distance from the hotel...thought it was supposed to be farm to table, not sure what happened to my meal? Bread was wet and soggy, tri tip? What tri tip! I visited the restaurant for lunch. It was a good decision. Almost everything on the menu looked delicious. I had the buffalo chicken salad. It was mostly chicken and bacon with a little lettuce under it all, it was delicious. My friend had the crab cakes Benedict. It looked amazing. She liked it. We both had a cup of clam chowder and thought it was very good for a diner along the 99 for sure. I would defiantly recommend this place. Easy access on and off the 99. Staff was very friendly in a clean, calm and relaxing atmosphere. If you love breakfast they serve it all day long here. I will stopping back in for sure. read more

We went there at after church Sunday rush, was good service and food delicious but only complaint was a little greasy- our fault for having bacon hash browns etc. b&g was OK a little doughy and bland. Wishing I had a pancake instead- One issue to warn folk s who tow a vehicle flat on wheels, we were able to get behind the motel 8 or whatever if was but had to disconnect and face out. Better option may be park at the mall if you are towing. Kudos to the employees at Perko's for handling the crowd at 11:00 on Sunday. I would give a four star for the wait staff and food was 3. I ate until I was full and took a box of leftover, so that would say the food is good enough. My husband and I normally like this Perko's and have eaten here often. However, after our last visit it will be a long time before we visit again. We went in on Friday night with the thought of getting a fast good dinner. We were greeted warmly by the hostess that evening and she took us to our seats and then got our drinks. We then waited for over 15 minutes and no one else from the restaurant had come to our table. Had the restaurant been crowded and busy, we could have understood the problem, but that was not the case. There were several wait staff standing around and talking when we came in and not one of them came to check on us or take our order. The final straw for us came when a server came, not once, but twice to take the order of someone sitting next to us who had been seated after us! We walked out! And not one person asked if there was anything wrong! read more

Though the food is average, because, well, it is a Perko's after all, the fourth star belongs to our server. I wish I could remember her name. She was fairly tall, blonde, very friendly, helpful, and checked on us regularly. As for the food: I just wish they had "regular" french fries. What is it these days - every place has to have "seasoned" this and "special fries" that - what about the tried and true? Bring regular fries to your menu and I'll be there a whole lot more often! We are often on our way to or from Sacramento from Los Angeles. Sometimes we take the 5, sometimes the 99, to break the monotony. We usually stop or breakfast at a Denny's that we find along the way. This time we got off of the 99 because of a traffic jam, and before we found a Denny's we came across Perko's. It looked interesting, so we decided to go in. It was a great find. Good menu, delicious breakfast, and fabulous blueberry muffins as an option instead of pancakes or toast...make sure you try the muffin, heavenly! It turns out that the young lady who served us is the owner. She was very friendly. She has worked there since she was 16 years old! She is there at her business making sure that everything is running smoothly. The service was great, the food was great, the prices are also great...try this place out if you are ever passing through. Always good to support local businesses...always good to try something new. We will visit Perko's again. read more

I came through Madera to see my Mom and take her to breakfast. She said this was her favorite place to have breakfast in Madera. She also liked it because they have a senior special that was very inexpensive (5.00). When she ordered the senior special they told her it was $8.00 not $5.00...not much of a senior special if you ask me. I ordered my favorite breakfast, eggs Benedict. The food took a while to get to us, but it was kind of busy, so I let that go. I always test the yolk on my eggs, because they are supposed to be runny on eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked fine, then I took my first bite! My eggs were full of egg shells! It was disgusting! I called the waitress over and told her to take it back, and please tell the cook to leave out the shells. It took 20 more minutes to get a new plate, and this time the yolks were hard boiled. So I sent it back again, and walked out of this place with no breakfast. The server didn't even apologize! I will never go back to this hole in the wall place! read more

I was appalled at what we had to endure here. The meal sub standard. Then a homeless looking man with pants torn down the back carring a back pack walked in and sat down down across from us. Talking to himself the whole time and getting up several times, walking back and forth, once coming back carrying his boots in his hands. The last time he got up he left packages and his back pack underneath the table and walked out. Then a white mouse jumped out of his stuff he had left under the table. One of the employees was called and he picked upo the mouse with a napkin and his hands. As we stood to pay, he was standing by the register and the manager, a female, was touching the mouse and making comments about it being cute and a pet, then I watched her go back to the kitchen window to grab the customers plates without washing her hands. We were already disgusted by the homeless looking man carrying in his boots and walking in his socks but what the manager did was too much. We can truly say we will never go back. read more

We had the same crappy and rude waitress twice (Lisa). Each time we asked for more coffee and she brought it cold and when we told her and asked her to make a fresh pot of coffee she replied "she can't they won't let them" really! I would not recommend it if you are a coffee drinker and she is snappy and rude when you ask her to bring you something. If you don't like your job then I suggest you look for a different profession, maybe one without customer service. The food was good but the bad service it's so not worth it. read more

If I could give this place NO STARS I would. But since it is not an option, they automatically get 1 star from me (reluctantly). The place looked great, people were friendly and super nice! We ordered, the food came out really fast which is a big plus when you have a hungry 6 year old. Any how, I ordered potato soup, turkey something... I can't recall right now. The soup was okay... the turkey dinner something was awful! The sliced turkey meat was a salt lick waiting to happen! It had some cranberry sauce straight out of the can.... I mean you could still see the can marks on it... UGH! Lets just say I only ate the baked potato and the bread. Like I said the potato soup was okay (salty) but edible. My daughter had the spaghetti and she seemed to like it. My husband had a cob salad and that was good. I wasn't going to say anything but our waiter noticed that I had not touched my food (except for the baked potato). He said that he would take it off our bill since I was not happy with it. He was great! Kudos to this waiter! This place is lucky for having great staff... If I were rating their staff and friendly environment, I would give them 5 stars... but since I am rating their food..... they get 1 reluctant star. read more

Called around noon on a Sunday afternoon, yes I understand they're busy as most restaurants are around this time. I had called to place an order for pick up for the same reason. I was put on hold twice for about 4-5 minutes each time, the second time around someone picked up the phone and hung up!! Called back again a third time, now upset, explained to the hostess I just needed to place an order for pick up and they were neglecting me as a customer, she then said "sorry we're too busy right now, would you want to call back in 15 minutes?" At this point I couldn't believe what she had said so I told her if she was too busy to take my order then I would just take my business elsewhere. I decided to call back to speak to a manager, that's when a young girl named Cindy picked up and had stated that if I needed to talk to a manager I would have to go in person after 2pm!! asked her to connect me to Kelly(owner) or whoever the manager was at the moment, with an attitude, she stated Kelly was not in at the moment and their manager was not in today until after 2pm. This business needs to train their staff on how to talk to customers and specially how to deal with these types of situations. I will never go back to this place because of their lack of attention to the customer and how disrespectful they handled my complaint. If a phone order is not as important as your customers that are in the store, you're in the wrong business! read more

This place was once great... Sadly, it's too bad I'm a witness to see it going down slowly. I loved Perkos.. "Loved"... The food is still good, but they really messed up when they recently took off their best dinner item which was, "Shrimp and Artichoke Ravioli". I loved that dish. For lunch, the BBQ, Burger was my favorite and for breakfast, the Mother Load Omelet was great. But, back then, they raised the price a whole dollar pretty much with everything. And now, with the recent change in menu, which isn't bad, but have now taken off the dinner item I mentioned. And now just this year, they've raised the prices yet again!! Okay, fine... Prices is one thing.. But the food is different now, no where near as good!! And now, the service... I wanted a fresh pot of coffee for my table and the waitress told me, "I won't waste coffee like that, no need to make a new one".. When someone asks for fresh coffee, come on!!! You give it to them.. Now hold on, don't take me as some critic, I know it's hard sometimes to be a waiter or waitress... I respect them because I know there's a lot of people who don't out there. But refusing to throw out an old pot of coffee to make my table a fresh pot of coffee is ridiculous.. Anywhere else, no problem. I'm sure it's not a lot of money to make a pot of coffee. It's $3 bucks a cup. The point of this is, Perkos is defiantly going down. I think Denny's new revamped menu is amazing. I haven't gone to Denny's in so long because of how bad they got....
