Stopped here on our way to visit a loved one and tried a variety of items. We ordered chilaquiles, two kids meals (mac and cheese, and a corn dog with fries), and pigs in a blanket breakfast. The chilaquiles weren't spicy more like chips with salsa and ended up being pretty bland with light salsa. However, the country potatoes were really good and definitely a highlight. The pigs in a blanket were also tasty, and the hashbrowns were perfectly browned. The kids enjoyed their meals, although the corn dog was a little overcooked on the outside and slightly undercooked on the inside. Service was great, our waitress was attentive and kind throughout our visit. The only other downside was the coffee, which tasted a bit watered down or just not very strong. 100% the absolute worst food experience I've ever had. This might be the only negative review I've ever left, but I feel it's necessary to serve as a warning to anyone misled by the reviews and simply looking for at least a decent meal. The seating was unkept and dirty, with tape covering tears in the vinyl. The waitress was attentive before we ordered (that's the only positive), but she was nowhere to be found after the food arrived. The bathroom reminded me of a Greyhound bus station restroom that hadn't been cleaned in at least a week. It smelled awful and was obviously filthy. The eggs in my omelet were both slimy and gritty. I ate a few bites before hitting that part, and just the thought of having any of it in my stomach made me feel sick. It was that bad. And don't even get me started on the so-called "cornbread." It was basically cake. To make it worse, when I mentioned all of this to the cashier, he seemed completely indifferent. No apology, no concern--just brushed it off. A bit of small town, with some Very fun big town items. Stopped by here en route to picking my mom up from NorCal and thought this place seemed like a nice hometown feeling place, and I was right. Super hospitable staff, very Americana guests (farmers, cowboy looking folk), and a nostalgia of Christianity sprinkled around. And it was very nice. The Waffle Spot, which is only open for breakfast and lunch, has your staple of items waffles (of course), sandwiches and chiliquilles this Spot has fancy takes on hometown staples. After a cup of what I would call the world's best cup of coffee, we dug into the lunch. After a filling meal I felt satisfied and marked my yelp to eat back here on the way back down to LA. If you're in the area and are looking for a great breakfast and a bit of Americana then stop by the Waffle Spot for a bit of fried goodness and something new for lunch. Enjoy! read more

This is a rock-solid breakfast place if you're in Madera, CA. It's a diner with character that supports the local community and serves quality breakfast options and waffles, of course. We were in town for the Madera District Fair and wanted some food from a local place - instead of just another national chain restaurant. The Waffle Spot did not disappoint. I went with their Chorizo Skillet and thoroughly enjoyed it. Generous serving of goodness in the morning - a perfect way to start the day. Had a delicious root beer to wash it down, too. First time here. I kind of expected better. I ordered a burger. It was good. I did not like the French fries. They weren't completely cooked. I don't like mushy fries. Hubby got a chili verde omelette. He said it was "ok". The waitress was not very attentive. Only have Coke products . I did like that they give you a carafe of coffee so you don't have to ask for refills all the time! I think it was probably a cute place at one time. Could use an overhaul. The place really needs remodeling--the inside was dusty, with cobwebs and knickknacks covered in dust. Unfortunately, I was served spoiled blueberries with mold. The waitress was kind and apologetic, and she said she would let the owner know. However, the owner walked by twice before we stopped her ourselves. She didn't apologize, only offered to replace it with something else. Bf and I wanted some breakfast. We've never been to this establishment before, so we decided to go. I had just gotten off a graveyard shift, so I was pretty much a zombie when I came in. That didn't stop me from devouring the amazing strawberry waffles that I had! The only drawback was that there was a bit too much strawberry syrup on the waffles. My bf however, didn't have any complaints. He loved his peanut butter banana waffles. He also loved that his fried egg was fried right. We both had the combos with our waffles, which includes eggs however you'd like, along with bacon or sausage for a meat. Overall, the food was delicious and tasty. The restaurant itself is cozy, it felt like I was dining in someone's cute kitchen/dining room with a homey set up. The service was also great-the waiter was fast and friendly. Scrambled Eggs were not edible, had to spit out, hash browns raw, bacon was ok... biscuit was more like a cornbread and yucky. Garden omelette... hmmmm veggies okay, but it was like an egg taco with all the veggies falling out and egg dry, would not be surprised if it was powered eggs. But my husband was hungry and was able to stomach it. Tables were sticky, syrup on back of seat, where your hair hits.... When I got up to pay, the man asked me how the meal was and I told him there was something wrong with the eggs and all he said was, "oh sorry" and then didn't even offer to discount.... So, me and my little family swung by this place due to my daughter having her 8U Softball Tournament in Madera. I have been to other brunch spots that use strawberry jam for the strawberry waffles but the fact these were fresh made the overall waffle soooo yummy. Waffle was also not dense or super crispy, which I really liked. The whipped cream also tasted home made, im not sure but it makes this place stand out. So we looked up a place for breakfast and found this Waffle Spot on Yelp with wonderful reviews. We were honestly scared that this place was going to be over crowded and wait time would be over an hour, but decided to drive by and saw that it wasn't too busy. So we gave it a try. Honestly, we were nervous while walking in as this was our second time dining in Madera. Upon entrance, we were greeted by a waitress and and a cashier. Both were super friendly. Right when we sat down at our booth, our actual waiter came by and greeted us. He was super friendly as well and did not rush us as he asked for our drinks. We ordered: the signature strawberry waffle combo (eggs & bacon), French toast, and the sausage platter with eggs, hash brown, and toast of your choice. All I can say is that we enjoyed every bit of the food we had. One thing that stood out the most to my husband was the scramble eggs. Most places use carton eggs, but he said the scrambled eggs he had here tasted like actual eggs. This place is super welcoming and the interior has a beautiful decor like a gazebo. Getting ready for Sunday breakfast a day in advance. My mother called and ordered 1 egg white veggie omelet with ham added and country potatoes to go with it. Also, French toast with sugar free syrup for another included side. The worker was very nice and said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We went to get it. Arrived and they have good music playing. The worker was very kind and the order was ready. Sunday has arrived already! I got everything ready and split evenly for Sunday breakfast...per usual. This morning went here for breakfast and was not disappointed. Had the Chile Verde omelette with hash browns and a seasonal favorite, pumpkin pancakes. The Verde was rich, flavorful, and with just a little bit of heat. Hash browns were just that, nothing special, but, delicious. Adding the salsa to the hash browns added a lil something. Now, the pumpkin pancakes were quite tasty. Actually they were regular pancakes with pumpkin puree swirl's on top with a dollop of whipped cream. Delicious, however, when I think pumpkin pancakes, I'd like actual pumpkin in the batter of the pancakes. Would I get them again? Probably not. I mean, I understand why they don't do them that way. It might be a waste of batter, but, still. Partner got the peanut butter and banana waffle. He seemed to enjoy it. Will we be back? Absolutely! Oh and they've gone through a terrific remodel! We just had such a yummy breakfast here on our way home from a mountain getaway. My daughter ordered a strawberry pancake. While it was very sweet and rich, it was seriously the best waffle we've ever had. Also the menu is quite extensive so you can order lunch or many different egg dishes. My husband got a patty melt, and I had an omelette - both were good. They also have a very inexpensive kids menu, and my son loved his pancake. The service was fantastic and everyone there was friendly. Highly recommend this place for a yummy and reasonably priced breakfast.
