THE OG Waffle (half)

Went 9am on a Sunday and got seated outside without issues but oh wow did a line surely start after! I heard it was 50 min wait by the time we were getting our food. Super friendly service, and dogs are allowed on the patio which is nice for fellow dog lovers Enjoyed the meat & potatoes skillet, super crispy and warm waffles. Very big portions.

My oh my oh my OHHH MYYY!! Hands down, all hands down, one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to. My family and I opted to sit outside and we were seated immediately on a Sunday morning. I cannot recall the name of our server unfortunately, but everyone that helped at our table were absolutely fantastic. Some of the best customer service I've experienced. I ordered the eggs benedict, while my sister ordered a smoothie and pancake on the side. I don't typically finish all my breakfast in one sitting, but I devoured my meal, plus the pancake, plus some cups of warm coffee and I would do it again too!! We already have plans to come back ASAP!

Thank you so much to the waffle place that had nothing but good food , good energy and great customer service! You are missing out if you haven't come already Thank you so much for everything B and everyone else in the kitchen

You KNOW this is my third review in as many months but I just can't get over what a great time I've had here!! I took my sisters here for a fun breakfast and we had such a great time! We were greeted immediately, served immediately and treated like princesses! The inside is so chic and welcoming, and we sat at the tables in the middle, but there is also a patio for when the weather cooperates! We ordered different dishes and had to share of course and from the skillet to the waffles to the chile quilles the food was delicious and served with flare! As long as the food and the service stays this way we will continue to return!

Waffle Place in Fresno is a refreshing experience compared to so many breakfast places. The food is 5 stars for sure, with huge portions, the place itself is bright and cheery. It Is spotlessly clean, well decorated and has a nice seating arrangement. The service was tops. I mentioned to my wife as we were enjoying all the above, that I could not see 1 thing that would deny a five star rating. Trying this wonderful restaurant will certainly bring you back for more

I wanted to try this place years ago and never did till now. The staff is awesome! Super friendly and nice. They have a big menu selection with fresh squeezed juice, breakfast/lunch, and "healthier" options. I went with the k juice (carrot and orange) and it was bit thick, still good though. I ordered the French toast combo. It comes with a lot of food for a good price and taste. The atmosphere is nice. Music is playing and if it's someone's bday in your party, the staff sings happy birthday and customers join too. It's a bit small but they do have some outside sitting. They have another location in NW Fresno too!

My family…read moreand I have been coming here for over 10 years, and we have brought my service dog with us before without an issue. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. There seemed to be new staff and management, and shortly after arriving, I was questioned about my service dog. I completely understand that businesses are allowed to ask whether a dog is a service animal required because of a disability and what task the dog is trained to perform. I had no problem answering those questions. What I did have a problem with was being repeatedly asked to provide proof or documentation. First the server asked, then the manager asked me again, and then another employee became involved. I even had documentation available and showed it, although under the ADA, businesses generally cannot require service-dog certification, paperwork, or proof as a condition of entry. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was noticing staff talking among themselves and pointing toward me after I explained that I had already answered the permitted questions. It made me feel singled out and unwelcome. My service dog is extremely gentle and well behaved. We have been loyal customers for more than a decade, so being treated this way was especially disappointing. I ultimately decided to leave because I did not feel comfortable giving my business to a restaurant after being treated this way. Unfortunately, batterup lost a longtime customer that day. For anyone dining with a service dog, my experience at Mimi's Cafe was the complete opposite. I felt welcomed and treated respectfully without being made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. I hope batter up Fresno provides its staff and management with proper ADA service-animal training so another customer does not have to experience this

If there is a part of downtown Fresno you have never had a reason to visit, Chef Paul's Cafe in…read moreChinatown is the reason. I have been several times, and every visit has asked nothing of me except an appetite. Chef Paul Pearson owns the place and cooks the food, and everything that comes out of his kitchen is the best version of whatever you ordered. The neighborhood is older than most of what surrounds it. Fresno was founded in 1872 as a railroad town, and Chinese residents were pushed to the west side of the tracks, where Chinatown grew into a district of shops, hotels, theaters, restaurants, and service businesses. When the county seat moved here in 1874, Chinese residents made up 200 of the town's 600 people. Urban renewal in the 1960s took businesses, residents, and historic buildings, and decades of neglect followed. This was a place people went to on purpose long before it became a place people forgot to go. That is the ground Chef Paul's stands on. As legend has it, Chef Paul started in catering and opened the restaurant after someone bet him $1,000 that he couldn't keep a restaurant afloat in Chinatown. He is still here, which settles the bet in my book. When the Fresno Bee asked readers to name their favorite Black-owned places to eat and drink for Black History Month, Chef Paul's took 80 percent of the vote, and the paper notes it made BuzzFeed's national list of 30 must-try Black-owned restaurants. The better endorsement is a room full of regulars. Start with the fried chicken, because everything else does. The skin is seasoned all the way through, not dusted on the surface, and it crunches with exactly the resistance you want before giving way to meat that is still juicy. A 2022 ABC30 profile says Chef Paul brines the birds for 24 hours in salt, sugar, and peppercorns, and that the recipe belongs to his wife, Pinky. That patience shows. The chicken does not need a sauce and does not ask for one, though no one would begrudge you a dab of hot sauce. I recently ate at Gus' Fried Chicken in New Orleans, one of that city's most popular fried chicken restaurants. Gus' is very good, which makes this awkward. The two styles differ a little, and Chef Paul's is better. The crunch lands in the right spot, the spice mix is genuinely exceptional, and, don't tell anyone I said this, it's also better than my grandmother's. She has passed away, and I am relieved she isn't around to hear me say it, because she would have considered it blasphemy. My wife and I ate this visit, and we both ordered the fried chicken with mac and cheese. One of us added the chili beans, the other the yams. Each side made a strong case for itself, I never found a weak spot anywhere on the table, and the chicken won anyway. The room looks like an old greasy spoon, though I can't say what business it was before. An abandoned ice cream cooler sits just inside the door, retired from ice cream and reassigned to Chef Paul's signs. The lunch counter is a ruin of its former self, half the stools stripped down to their bases and a few very old ones left standing. The restaurant is long and narrow, with a few tables along the right side and the kitchen right behind the counter in full view of the dining room. It is laid back, and the crowd is regulars. The fried chicken plate is four pieces of chicken, two sides, and cornbread for $24. Some people will call that pricey, and then the plate arrives. Between the two of us, that was eight pieces of chicken, four sides, and two orders of cornbread, and every bit of it was cooked with the same care as the chicken that earned the trip. With crunch and seasoning like that, sides that each made their own case, and all for $24 a head? That is a bargain by any measure I know. So here is the pitch. Chinatown is not where many people think to go for dinner, and that stops mattering the moment you walk in. It is a destination, and Chef Paul's is one of the best restaurants in the city. Go see for yourself, because I will be back several more times.

We came around 10 am and there were quite a few people. We didn't have to wait to be seated. They sat us right away. Right after we order our drinks. Coffee and hot chocolate. Then we order our food. We love chilaquiles and we order the green ones for my comadre and the red ones for me. My daughter got a regular American breakfast. Egg, sausage, and pancakes. The chilaquiles come with meat but I order avocado instead. My comadres' chilaquiles were the green ones and she enjoyed everything. She mentioned the meat was tender and tasty. My food was very good as well. The sauce of the chilaquiles was very tasty and spicy. Which I loved. My daughter's breakfast was very good too. She loved the pancakes. Besides what we got they have a big variety of different dishes. They have sweet bread and also all kinds of different sweet dishes. What they also have is healthy options. Like if you don't want to eat food. They have fruit smoothies and freshly made fruit juices. I thought that was a very nice healthy option. I am coming back to try the healthy options next time. They have plenty of room to seat. The bathroom was very clean. The whole restaurant was very clean and tidy.

I've been a few times, and I remember going for the first time about 9 years ago. I remember peering off of Herndon and what a cute red building that looks awfully busy and had a gravel parking lot. Back then it felt very hard to eat here, you had to get here early before the lot filled which obviously means the food is good. Today we were met with kind service and were immediately sat in the out door seating. Which we didn't mind because it was fresh. All the staff members were incredibly kind to me, and I really appreciated the nice compliments and overall vibe this establishment offers Breakfast menu is both American and Mexican inspired which is a plus for this bilingual gal, We stared off with a Mermaid Mimosa for the birthday boy and a Bloody Mary for me. Red Apple gets straight to business as I'd say their drinks are worth the price as they are poured well. I'm a Benedict girl, I went ahead and ordered the smoked salmon Benedict which came with some flavor potatoes. The bene was 10/10 I felt I could really taste a high quality salmon and the egg was perfectly poached. Birthday boy ate the Country fried steak at my recommendation. Pared with potatoes and pancakes. It's safe to say the plates were left cleared. Overall I've never been disappointed here and I'm happy to say my guest enjoyed it for their first time as well. There's a reason that parking lot stays busy
