Very nice decor inside and a great patio outside with comfy chairs, lights, and a fountain in back to provide soothing vibes. My friend tried the lavender matcha and said it was good but seemed like not much in her cup that was supposed to be 12 ounces. I ordered the large cappuccino which was very good. They use Pete's coffee here, which I love. I neglected to mention we were having it there, and if you do so you get it in a real cup. Next time! Service was pleasant. I wish we had discovered this coffee shop sooner! It's such a great place to set up shop and work on your laptop for hours. I arrived at 9am, got an iced vanilla latte and breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was good but could use a little salt. The coffee was really good! I got all my work done, and then got some fries and wine. Service was great! We love Axis. We come here frequently for an easy dinner or a bit of live music and a drink. The kitchen has had some turnover and they've got a new chef, who has recently started to try a prix fixe menu. We really enjoyed the Italian dinner with wine pairing from Solitary Cellars. The rosemary focaccia had a great body and a good crisp, it dipped well in the olive oil and balsamic glaze that accompanied it. The squid ink aranchini were showstoppers. Wow! They came with a beautiful sauce as an accompaniment and I hope that these make a return one day. The tomato sorbet that followed as a palate cleanser featured a bit of fresh mozzarella, a splash of olive oil and a bit of basil to make a refreshing surprise. The gnocchi was delicious and clearly hand made, fresh and delightful the sausage and broccoli and just a bit of heat blended together into a dish that exceeded expectations. I'll start by saying I'm not typically a fan of polenta. I find it tends to be a bit dry and bland, but the chefs did a fantastic job in creating a very palatable, rich, and creamy polenta that had my wife and I both surprised. The porchetta was rich, crispy on the outside and decadent when paired with the polenta. The broccolini was not overcooked and was well seasoned, lending to a fantastic trio for a main course. The tiramisu was light and delightful, coffee forward and flavored just the way that we enjoy it. For what I believe was a first stab at a finer dining experience, they did a great job. The service was smooth and attentive and the food was great. It was very interesting to see the space transform from what is usually a fairly lively coffee shop into a black linen Dining room. We hope to be able to come back again for future tasting menus! read more

We passed by this place for coffee and brunch while visiting friends in the area. This is located in a cute little community. Parking is plentiful and I enjoyed that there was ample seating both inside and out. They had a great selection of pastries, drinks, and lunch items to choose from. The staff was very friendly and our food came out fast. Everything we ate was delicious and cooked well. Portions were generous and overall, it made for a nice afternoon hanging out with good drinks and food. It was nice that this place is family friendly as there were plenty of kids hanging out in the outdoor area with their parents. We honestly were surprised how lively and busy it was for a late Sunday morning. The service was great. The food did take a bit to come out but they were reasonably busy. Coffees tasted great. The alfalfa sprouts were a nice, fresh, addition to both the avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich. The avocado toast slightly missed the mark for me as the poached egg was not runny. So disappointed. We used to love coming here to get breakfast and coffee but they must be under new management or something because food quality and service has gone down, severely. We ordered food and it took a long time for it to come out. They didn't print our drink ticket so they never knew we ordered anything. My husband ordered the breakfast bowl (which we've gotten many times before) and the first picture is what we were given. For reference, I used another reviewer's photo of the breakfast bowl from years ago. It's sad because the ambiance is nice and it's close to where we live but we won't be coming back anytime soon. We have found the customer service lacking the last 3 times we've visited. So 1 out of four positive experiences is a terrible average. I ordered a Dasher's Mocha, they entered it into their POS, then they started to ask each other ¿What is that? Then they pulled out their phones. I'm thinking to figure out how to make it. It was a good salted caramel mocha. My wife ordered a soy Cinnamon Roll latte. It was good, but wished they had asked if we wanted the milk cold foam that came on it, as that would be a natural no. The crowd that tends to gather here are just as unkind as the staff/baristas. The only good experience I had with another human was an older couple. I will say this place is good when it's good and when it's bad it's bad... I discussed with the chef over the phone regarding subbing arugula instead of sprouts on there sunrise Sammie because I was pregnant at the time & you can't be eating sprouts while pregnant due to risk of food poisoning and she said she could do it for a additional charge of 3$ for the sake of inconvenience of needing to go to a different fridge to pull out the lettuce. Kinda rude... she got mad and said it's my kitchen and it seems appropriate because going to a different fridge is extra work and didn't care that i was pregnant ... so there's that. We boycotted this place for months thereafter. There's no vegetarian options either when you ask to remove the meat and sub for extra vegetables they just additionally charge you when it's technically less $ when removing meat from there items. read more

This is a perfect pit stop coffee shop to grab a bite and get some work done on your laptop. This place is attached to a home sales office and is smack dab in the middle of a brand new community in Madera. I popped in for a quick bite and some coffee and was pleasantly surprised at how cozy and clean it was inside. There were plenty of places to sit and a good mix of older and younger people here along with a few business type folks getting some laptop worked done. I ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage and a cold brew with oat milk. The burrito was basic but tasty. The cold brew with the oat milk was delicious! I was surprised at how velvety smooth this coffee was and with no bitter aftertaste. The Wi-Fi here was stellar. I was surprised at how fast it was with the amount of people here working. Since discovering Axis in 2022, I've been a fan! Service is always friendly and prices are a little up there, but they serve serious quality. My bf really enjoys their Pete's coffee bar. His go to is an iced chicory black tie. Sweetened perfectly with condensed milk. As for food, our favorites are the sunrise burger, breakfast burrito/bowl, and their tomato soup with grilled (cheddar) cheese! This establishment is spacious, airy, and modern. It was packed on a Sunday due to a car event, but the line move swiftly. We had no problem finding a table to sit at so we could enjoy our food. Speaking of food, everything was delicious -the charcuterie board at only $12 was plentiful and great quality. The burrito and the avo toast was also a big portion and worth the money. They serve Pete's coffee here, I didn't get to try the coffee, but definitely want to go back for that. They have a wine menu as well, which would pair nicely with their charcuterie offering! Just over a year ago, this was one of my favorite coffee spots, but something must have changed in management because now it's a disaster. The service is terrible--I just bought a coffee, and the entire transaction was cold and impersonal. No eye contact, no smile, no greeting, no thank you. The place itself is a mess. I was the only customer, yet the space looked neglected. The outdoor furniture is stained and falling apart, the inside tables are sticky, and the furniture is haphazardly placed. It's clear they don't care--they're just here for the money. I wouldn't even consider buying a house in this so-called community. If this is how they run a simple coffee shop, I can only imagine how bad the new homes must be. I won't be back, and I'll be sure to let everyone I know how far downhill this place has gone. It used to be great, but now it's just awful. I asked what kind of soup they were going to have today. The cook had no idea what the soup of the day was going to be. Dec2023 We've stopped through here a couple of different times. It is near some long walking and trail areas so it is very convenient for our purposes. The workstaff has been helpful with any questions that we had, water is refill on your own. Wifi is also posted around on one of the walls, I've noticed cell signal isn't the greatest inside. I've generally gotten the breakfast burrito with impossible burger, though I have tried the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. The burrito is pretty good. I'd say the thing I like most is the spicy salsa they have with it which provides a nice kick and flavor. The grilled cheese when I had it was cooked well but needed more cheese. The tomato bisque was decent but needed more salt and wasn't as thick as I thought it would be to counter balance the grilled cheese. I always liked that they had a smidge of everything aside from the food like beer or wine available. Although not often, it is pleasant to finish off miles of walking with a cold one. Some of it feels a bit pricey but that's convenience for ya. We'll certainly be back through tho for much the same reasons. read more

Dang I really wanted to enjoy this spot. The ambiance and actual lounge area is so clean and neat! I love the decor with the wood and brick vibes, it's very modern and classy. There is an assortment of pastries available and easy grab snacks. I was the most upset with the service. As I kept asking questions, I kept getting cut off and it was a really rude experience. All I wanted was a substitute for the meat without having to add on/pay extra. My request was pretty logical and makes sense since I didn't want meat and just wanted an exchange for an egg. It seems like she didn't even ask or see if it was possible. What really upset me was how she just kept cutting me off mid sentence and also talked over me. Came here as it was a halfway point from my little road trip. It's tucked to the side with nothing but an eatery. It's actually cute and pet friendly. They have plenty of seatings indoors and on the outside patio. The staff is very courteous and helpful. I ended up ordering an avocado toast along with a iced chai latte. The iced chai latte was overpowering. Maybe it's because they serve Peet's and I'm used to another coffee brand. Overall, latte was good once the ice melted. As for the avocado toast, it didn't hit the spot for me. It was made with avocado spread. Something you can buy in a single cup serving at the super market. It didn't look or taste like fresh avocado. It was served with too much sprouts in my opinion. The egg wasn't runny and they only added everything bagel seasoning to the egg as a topping. Part of my toast was actually soggy, almost like water spilled onto it. It's a nice little spot to hang out at and to do your work at. I seen quite a few people with their laptops. Very nice place. We sat outdoors and the weather was beautiful. We went on Sunday around 10 for breakfast . Line wasn't too bad but we had to order drinks and food from the same line. The menu for breakfast is pretty limited. More items were served after 11am though. It got busy and took a bit to receive our food but overall food was delicious. I got a bagel sandwich. Worth the short drive north of Woodward Park area on a Saturday morning/afternoon. We've been out to Tesero Viejo before for their Saturday farmers market and decided to check out Axis for lunch. Delicious! Small but impressive menu, Ben enjoyed the BLTA sandwich and I had a mandarin spring salad from their monthly special menu-so good! I'd order that again and again! Great service, the whole place is well maintained and the patio looked great-looking forward to coming back in the Fall. I was surprised by the great wine and beer selection. After seeing pictures of the outdoor eating area this place had been bookmarked and we happened to be in the area. Upon arrival it's in the Welcome Center complex of a new housing development. It shares a lobby and its just a small ordering table, the seating is mostly outside of the welcome center. It was fairly full when we arrived but we eventually found a table to sit at. We were disappointed that we couldn't try any coffee as they were sold out of all cold coffee. It's Peet's coffee they serve. The food was pricy at 18 for a burger but it did come with a side salad or potatoes. We got a burger and chicken sandwich, the food was good and it looks like they serve mimosas but it's a very limited menu, this is a convenient offering for the neighborhood it's in but it isn't a place I'd go out of my way to visit unless we were in the area again. read more
