I genuinely love Old Town Waffle and don't understand why it's sitting at only three stars -- it should easily be five. The food is consistently great. They have so many options: skillets, waffles, eggs Benedict, and tons of variations of everything. The skillets are filling, the waffle options are amazing, and even their eggs Benedict (which I'm picky about) is excellent. One small tip if you have kids: instead of ordering off the kids' menu, you can add half a waffle to your plate instead of toast for about $1.29-$1.49. It usually feeds a child perfectly and keeps costs down. Super smart option. Prices are reasonable, portions are solid, and the food comes out surprisingly fast every time. Service has always been efficient and friendly. Highly recommend -- this place deserves way more love. read more

I visited this spot for a quick Mid week breakfast, and it was the definition of "just ok". The eggs were cooked exactly as requested I asked for 1 Egg instead of 2 and that's exactly what I got! The biscuits and gravy were nothing to write home about, in fact they were oddly a little on the sweet side. (Different) the coffee stayed hot, the ambiance was casual but nothing about the meal really stood out or felt unique. The service was prompt and our server was really good. I'm extremely disappointed with the service at Old Town Waffle. Staff explicitly instructed us to wait off to the side to avoid blocking traffic while holding seats for me and my son. Despite following their direction, they allowed other customers to take the seats we had been waiting for. When I addressed the situation, staff was unwilling to confront the customers who cut. The customers who took the seats dismissed it while laughing with "first come, first serve," which only highlighted the staff's failure to manage seating appropriately after giving us clear instructions to wait. On a busy day like Mother's Day, organization and accountability matter even more. Instead, we were left standing while others benefited from the staff's lack of follow-through. As a frequent customer, I expect better communication and basic fairness. Directing guests to wait for a table and then failing to honor that arrangement is unacceptable. read more

We waited about 45 minutes for our party of 4 to be seated and another 30 minutes for our food to start coming out. I was a little annoyed that our food came out in 3 individual batches - especially since my kids' food came out last. Just to clarify, I don't mean the gal took 3 quick trips back to the kitchen to grab our food - I mean that the first 2 plates came out about 15 minutes before the next 2 and then the last plate came out about 10 minutes after that! I really liked the Mocha and Bacon Cheddar Waffles, but I don't know if I would recommend the place due to our experience here. read more

The hostess was quick on her feet with seating tables and greeting customers. Once we were sat, our waitress moved very quickly in taking drink orders and food orders. You can tell that turning over tables quickly is the goal. She wanted to take out food orders when we had been at the tables less than 5 minutes. I appreciated the portion size and that the bowl of fruit came with a good variety of fruits, not just honeydew and cantaloupe as is the case in other restaurants. The holladaise sauce was just ok, not too flavorful and the eggs were not hot when they were served. The hashbrowns were good--seasoned and crispy. I do not recommend spending time or money at this establishment. I read its "most recent" Yelp reviews before trying it. I cannot believe how awful my experience was compared to the way other people described theirs. The ONLY part of the whole experience that was pleasant was the greeting we received when our hostess came to take us to our booth. After that it went down hill fast. Our server spent a lot of time getting things wrong (bringing two cups of orange juice when we asked for one kids OJ and the rest water), not being able to answer questions like, "What brand of Orange Juice do you serve?", and not registering what was being said to him, such as, "Give us a few minutes to look at the menu," followed by him smiling and staring at me. I asked him if he couldn't hear me. He said he could so I repeated my request. Then he said, "Oh, yeah, Ok, I'll come back." It was like he didn't realize I meant for him to come back. He thought I just wanted him to stand there a few minutes while I made a decision?! Oy. The food was not even just basic, it was the lowest quality food you can buy, make, and serve. The menu says Orange Juice but it's Sunny Delight. The syrup is not Maple Syrup but pure corn syrup with caramel coloring. The butter is not dairy but margarine spread. Butter is a natural fat that comes from dairy whereas margarine is a cheap engineered product that contains trans-fats. It is NOT butter. So don't tell people their food comes with butter and syrup when what you get is actually neither. We ordered waffles, french toast, bacon, and eggs. We asked for the powdered sugar to be left off the French toast but both plates came with it on them. The waffles were good texture wise but the taste was hard to determine because of being covered in margarine and "syrup". Neither kid would eat their scrambled "eggs". I tasted them and based of the texture and taste I'd bet they were the type of egg liquid product you can get in a 32oz carton at the store. I ordered my eggs over hard. They were super thin and definitely hard. What over hard means is that you want the egg yolk cooked all the way through. It does not mean you want a flat "hard" egg to crunch on. The server, the hostess, and the person who brought our food from the kitchen could all tell how upset I was throughout the whole breakfast yet not once did anyone ask what was wrong or if they could fix or change anything. I had already had some before I took the photo, the jar was all the way full. Full of juice, NOT full of ice. I had a waffle with banana and Nutella, and it was just the right amount of food. That's little dollops of whipped cream, not butter. The waffle wasn't overcooked and dry, which was lovely. So many places overcook their waffles! No food coma to follow, which is what usually happens when waffles are for breakfast! Dad had peanut butter and chocolate waffle I think- I didn't take a pic of his breakfast. Under new management! The food was delicious! This place gets really busy, when I left there were about 20 people waiting to get in. Always a sign of a great restaurant. I went here with a few friends on a Saturday around 8 AM. The restaurant was about half full to 3/4 full. I was immediately greeted by some friendly staff, sat down, and asked if I wanted coffee. It was just outstanding service. And the best part was, that level of service continued the entire time I was at the restaurant. The restaurant needs a little bit of updating inside, but it's not bad. There are few lightbulbs that need to be replaced, and the bathrooms weren't the cleanest, but the overall ambience of the restaurant was great. There were so many people that It was a little bit loud for me, but honestly it didn't take away from the dining experience. I ordered the ham and eggs, with country potatoes, over easy eggs, and sourdough toast. The ham was tasty, about 2 ounces to 3 ounces, and it appeared to be cooked on a griddle. I honestly wish they would've cooked it a little bit longer, but it was perfectly warm and tasty. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the country potatoes were perfectly crisp and not oily. Also, if you enjoy salsa, make sure you ask for it. It's delicious and not too spicy. This was just a great restaurant. I loved the service, and I was incredibly happy with the food. A cute breakfast spot located in Old Town Clovis! My first impression: it's busy, but not busy to the point where we had to wait very long for a table. We were seated within 5 minutes. The interior, although a bit outdated, is surprisingly homely. I absolutely LOVE the high ceilings; even if the place is bustling you don't get that claustrophobic feeling. There is a lot to look at-- picture frames, hats, horns, and decor arrangements lining the walls. A lot of items on the menu sound appetizing! I went the basic route and ended up getting the breakfast quesadilla. It was good, but not really full of flavor like I hoped it would be. The others at my table all got hamburgers/sandwiches, and the portion sizes on those were great. We also got strawberry & blackberry lemonades, and although they were $7, they were huge! I don't care how you order the state. It's always really tough now and a ton more fat on it than before Their prices are a little bit higher your waitress or waiter don't come around anymore. You asked for extra, you don't get them you asked for a certain creamer. You don't get it recently took my mother-in-law to eat there for her birthday and had the worst experience.
