But for my plate, almost $20 that had me scratching my head. At that price point you're almost certainly better off going over to red Apple. We came here on a weekend morning and enjoyed our breakfast here. They were pretty busy but we were able to be seated at a booth in the back pretty quickly. I had their egg Benedict special with ham and my partner had the breakfast sandwich with bacon. We both enjoyed our meal, though the hash browns were a little more on the greasy side -- the important part is that they were crispy, and they were. After our trip to Fresno Ag's on First and Gettysburg we decided to go to Chubby's Diner (First and Gettysburg) for breakfast. What a great place! The staff made us feel so comfortable. My husband ordered the Jukebox ($14.99)(Pancakes, eggs and crispy bacon.). I ordered a waffle, crispy bacon and eggs ($13.99). Both were excellent! The whole restaurant is a trip back to the 1950's. There is lots of 1950's paraphernalia. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We will be back! read more

We were looking for something quick because we were starving and this little diner was surprisingly not busy. There wasn't a lot of seating but service was quick and tasted like home cooking. Busy place! Large counter. Ten seats, I think it was. I was there for a late breakfast, just after 11 and all the tables but one were full. There's outdoor seating and people were out there, as well. I was greeted and seated as soon as I entered. I sat at the counter. Food is cooked and prepared in an area right inside the counter. My drink order and breakfast order were taken quickly. Yay, they have green tea! I ordered the "Wake Up Little Susie"...two eggs, potatoes and toast. The theme here seems to be kind of Fifties, kind of hot rods. My server was very friendly and helpful. My eggs had a bit of brown, but not so much I didn't want to eat them. The potatoes were delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. After years of living in Fresno me and my wife finally decided to give this a place a try. when we walked in we immediately noticed how small the place is and no one was at the host stand so naturally I grab 2 menu and headed to the bar. the server was nice a helpful as we mentioned this was our first time here I learned they DON'T have turkey or beef breakfast meat ONLY PORK or turkey meat for a sandwich I ordered the duke of earl and my wife ordered the western steak omelette. about 5mins after placing a order I noticed they had a microwave joking I said to my wife what if that's what the use to cook our food sadly it wasn't a joke. This was not a good experience once again at this location! Our waitress, Angie, wasn't pleasant at all and very short with us. She did bring our drinks right away though. My Frisco Melt didn't have 1000 island dressing on it and Angie NEVER came back to make sure everything was good, she was however k awning up against the counter eating and talking to someone sitting there. Another couple came in and as she sat them down she was eating something out of her hand! My wife had a question about her sandwich but Angie was nowhere to be found, oh wait, she's talking and eating at the far counter still! I've run restaurants and if I were owner or manager I'd fire her on the spot!!! We left her no tip as she was about the worst waitress I've ever dealt with! This morning I had the chicken fried steak dinner for breakfast. This is one of many times here at Chubby's dinner, always a favorite when in Fresno. Had a baked potato, which is unusual this early in the morning, it was baked to perfection and was very tasty. The chicken fried steak was delicious with a vegetable medley of broccoli, squash, carrots prepared perfectly. The service was quick, my coffee cup never got half empty, they checked on me often to make sure everything was good. I highly recommend if in Fresno you stop in for a fantastic meal. Love this place! It's so nostalgic for me! It's the most delicious old fashioned cheeseburger! The "secret" sauce is amazing, meat patty is perfect in size, the vegetables are crisp and fresh and the bun is FRESHLY baked! Yummm! The steak fries were crunchy and crispy! Chubbys is reminiscent of the old school diners. The place isn't huge, so getting a booth could be challenging at certain hours. They mostly have booths. Service and food is excellent. I placed my order via phone for pick up. I only wanted to get 3 hamburgers by themselves, no sides. Was told they only sell combos, which include fries and a drink. Since I wanted hamburgers, I had to go with the combo. I've had fries there before, which are very good, but would like to be able to order burgers only. Since I had 3 to go containers and a a tray with 3 sodas, after paying, the cashier asked if she could assist carrying the drinks to my car. I haven't had that happened in years, anywhere! Their special sauce had a mustardy flavor; I was not liking it. I did like the croissant-like bun that the burger was served on but even with the amount of salt, pepper, and ketchup I had to use to jazz it up, this is just another greasy spoon that doesn't inspire me to return. $14.33 total for a meal that I couldn't finish because my tastebuds weren't in on the experience.
