Stopped by Old Town Waffles for breakfast this morning. We got seated quickly. The place was clean with a rustic appeal and a friendly staff. The waitress was friendly and helpful. We ordered the waffel sandwich, the vegetarian omelet, and coffee. The food came and the portions were very big. The bacon was thick, the avocados were fresh, and potatoes were cooked to perfection. What I like about this place is that it's an independently owned restaurant, which is not like the chain restaurants. The food is of good quality and cooked to taste great. Scarlet was a great server, other then that everthing else was horrible. The food came out in sections, 2 plates of food had to send back not cooked right. Had to ask 3 times for tomatoes and the other plate of pancakes that was ordered, the manager came over and tried to defend it was busy. that's no EXCUSE, we asked for sugar free syrup and they brought us regular syurp. We are diabetic. After we finished eating, the tomatos finally came out. I'm sorry but we will not be coming back, and Scarlet please keep up the good work You are a great server. read more

The spouse and I had a late breakfast here one morning after a quick job in Clovis. Sure, it only had 3 stars on Yelp, but how bad can you mess up simple diner food? A lot, apparently. We literally vowed to go to Denny's the next time we wanted breakfast. Our server was very nice and attentive. I also appreciated that they attempted a savory waffle, even if it turned out bad. That's how they got their star from me. The eggs were such a weird texture that I think they were steamed and not cooked on a griddle at all. The waffle was soggy. The gravy was so BLAND! And they charged me $2 for maybe a quarter of a cup. It's literally flour and water. I refuse to believe they used milk to make that mess. I make sausage gravy regularly at home, it's not that hard to make it taste good. The sausage was also really weird. Like the brown and serve sausages from the grocery store taste better. It also wasn't expensive, but it wasn't cheap either. Which is only really a problem because the food was so bad. Suffice it to say, we will not be coming back here the next time we want breakfast in Clovis. read more

My first time here, and I really don't have too much to complain about! My sister and I had a pretty good experience here. The coffee was hot, the food was good, had pretty good flavor, and the service was nice. We waited about 10-15 minutes for a table, but there was plenty of seating in the front area when you walk inside, so waiting wasn't awkward or uncomfortable. I loved the space inside. It is a big restaurant, and there are a ton of booths, lots of tables, and a good amount of counter space! I definitely want to come back to make sure the service and food are consistent, but I'm excited to come back one day. Another thing I noticed was they had a discount (I think a free coffee) for a Facebook check in, but not for Yelp check in. (Boo!) read more

I am not sure why this place has 3 stars. I stopped here with my group on our way for a camping trip last year to Shaver lake. My group was seated right away and everything we ordered came out awesome, delicious and quickly. The price was on par for the local breakfast chain restaurants. The portions were generous too. Wow, this place has been here in Clovis a long time. Ate here maybe 20 years ago and haven't been back, I don't remember why not, but tried it again today. Nice people, full menu, seemingly Ok value but waited over 20 minutes for our order to come and the place wasn't full, then the food was not hot. Mother ordered the egg white Denver omelet with mushrooms, jalapeños and avocado on the side. You get many side choice options. Mother chose half the Belgium waffle with berries and bananas. They also have sugar free syrup. The order came pretty quickly. The food looked delicious and it sure was! Where to start? The waffle portion had fresh fruit. It tasted amazingly delicious with the sugar free syrup! The Denver omelet was just as good! Fresh and yummy! It had really good salsa too! Everything was scrumptious! Both were very good but they give you a small (ketchup size) cup of syrup. 2 cups of coffee cost $6.30 and the whole meal was just under $29.00. It probably doesn't help that last breakfast place I went to I ordered the same dish of chile verde omelet and so I had something to compare it to... this place has great spice and flavor but the meat was a little more tough and chewy. And the egg/omelet portion was a little flat (at the other place, omelet had a more fluffy, soft feel to it). The hash brown was great; nice crisp outside and soft and fluffy on the inside and the waffle itself was delicious. My husband had the cowboy skillet with an added jalapeño (+1.25) and he said it was average and overpriced. read more

My daughter and I were out in Clovis for a huge softball tournament this past week and were staying at the La Quinta next door. Plenty of parking in the lot not that we needed staying next door. We needed a place to eat a good hearty breakfast. Turns out we ended up eating here 3 different times during our week. 2 breakfast's and a lunch. From the outside the place is very unassuming, saddles, wagon wheels a real old time western theme. As we walked in we were greeted by an extremely friendly group of waiters and waitresses. Every meal we ate we had the exact same experience friendly quick service with a smile! This seems like a real local joint a mix of older clientele and individuals that know good breakfast. Food: We ordered the following throughout our visits Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger: Crispy and cooked perfectly Fries were crispy and tasty as well. Strawberry Lemonade: Sweet and sour and delicious Coffee: Pretty good nothing special Breakfast Quesadilla: A flour tortilla filled with three scrambled eggs, country potatoes, bacon, onion, bell pepper and cheese. served with salsa and sour cream Waffle Sandwich: Over easy eggs bacon and cheese smashed between two fluffy waffles served with potatoes and biscuits and gravy Chocolate Chip Waffle: Fluffy and crispy at the same time plenty of chocolate chips Jalapeno Skillet: Cheese bacon jalapenos cilantro amazing! Breakfast Quesadilla: eggs, bacon, cheese, hash-browns and delicious salsa Some thing that really stood out for us was the syrup! it was so good extra sticky, id pour it on anything I wanted sweetened up. Worst experience ever. Way to ruin someone's day. We waited for almost two hours just to get our food. The toast however was on our table right away. By the time we got our food, toast was cold. I guess it did not matter since all of our food was cold as well. Waitress was no where to be seen. Our cups were dry the entire time as well. What a disappointment. I understand the service to be slower during this times, but at least when you bring my food, bring it warm and keep my coffee coming. My suggestion to anyone looking to eat here, look for other alternatives. Do not waist your money and more importantly, your time here. I needed about an hour to kill before work so I'd thought I get something small to eat. Coming down on Clovis Ave this was the first place I saw. I was kind of skeptical at first because it didn't have horrible reviews but neither excellent ones as well. I popped my head in and it wasn't busy, plus the $3.99 special drew me in. I sat at the counter and watched as my eyes saw some eyebrow raising moments take place. My waitress was polite and attentive and took my order because I already knew that I wanted the biscuits and gravy. While I waited I began to people watch as I like to do when dining alone. I couldn't help but watch the servers in action, and I noticed that they grab customers food with their bare hands, no utensils, no gloves, not even a proper hand wash or disinfected bleach towel. I saw the waitress grab berries out of a container and top some waffles, then I saw this same waitress grab biscuits out of a tub, cut it, nuke it, and put it on a plate. I wanted to brush it off, but then I saw her go to the counter and ring people up. Not only did she touch a dirty monitor but she touched money which is the dirtiest of dirty. I watched as she went to proceeded to grab more food like it was normally. I used to be a waitress and I wouldn't butter toast because I didn't want to touch people's bread, especially after touching money. I did not see her wash her hands or even wipe her hands on a towel which by law needs to be soaking in bleach water. As for the biscuits and gravy, the eggs were tasteless and straight from a carton; the biscuits were bland and the gravy was pale and tasted like milk with pepper. I ate so slow and grossed out. I prayed extra hard for my food on this morning. This is the price I pay for going to the first place I saw. :/ read more

The food is good & plentiful, the coffee-not Starbucks or Peet's, but not not 7-11 either. If you're not an onion connoisseur make sure to ask if onions are included in hash browns, omelettes and such. The waitress happily brought a styrofoam to go cup for my iced tea before we departed. Appreciated on a HOT Clovis day. 4/5 stars because when we walked in there were too many tables left piled with dishes which looked dirty. read more

This was my second time here. The first time I would say 3 stars. This time today if I can give negative stars I would. I am normally pretty patient and understanding when it comes to the food industry. Today was an exception. Whoever owns this establishment should be disappointed. 1. It took awhile to get our order taken. I feel like if you are not a local you get forgotten about. (I moved to Clovis a couple months ago) 2. Only received a coffee refill once. When the coffee was refilled. It was refilled above my 2 year old. If he got spilled on this place would've been closed for good. The guy was lucky. 3. Our food started to come out and everyone's order was wrong. My 2 year old was served last. When it comes to kids and the elderly serve them fast and 1st. When my order was wrong and my kid didn't have his food yet. I had to get up to find someone. The excuse was they were short servers and the back was backed up. If that was the excuse, looks like management should pick up the slack. All the manager said was sorry and hope we gave another chance. I'm sorry but no other chance you can redeem that experience. This experience killed my whole vibe to the day. To whoever reads this save your money go somewhere else. I would recommend Jus' Jo's on Shaw. I was driving from Sacramento to Arizona and decided to make a quick stop for breakfast, Best Breakfast spot by far, the drinks are HUGE and so refreshing, not to mention their banana caramel waffles. Nothing compares to Old TownWaffle, Old Town Waffle is simply the Best! Hopefully they open a location in Phoenix soon. read more
