Second Son continues to evolve into Rancho's favorite brewery. They've streamlined the experience by closing the extension and food service to focus on what they do best--great beer. Their beer selection keeps getting better, and they've also expanded their non-alcoholic options, which is perfect if you want something delicious without the guilt. If the munchies hit, you're covered. The popcorn machine is usually running, along with Bobby Salazar salsas and chips, plus a basket of assorted snacks. They even have a small selection of sodas if you've got kids with you. Tonight they hosted a food vendor, and the asada quesadilla was amazing. It's worth trying this brewery if you are in the area. Has a nice mom and pop feel. Service has always been great. I usually come in every 9-10 months or so to see if they have any new beers. We usually get a flight to sample their different offerings. Nothing really stands out or would inspire me to get a crowler to go or cans if they were to can their beer. There are just so many other exquisite beers in rotation around town that I can't imagine wanting to come here to have a beer frequently. read more

Great place to chill and relax. The husband and wife owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer they make and the food. Very mom and pop vibe! This is the bonus find of the year so far! The type of spot that hardly exists anymore with family running things and friendly staff all about. This is a place you bring your family who are welcomed like they should be. Food was outstanding. I had the best garlic chicken pizza since I moved out of the Bay Area. We've been coming here since they opened right before covid hit. A family run pub that is great for hanging out. We can often be found here Monday evenings playing cards or on the weekends listening to live music. The service is top notch, even when they are busy. Troy, the brewmaster does a great job of consistently having the favorites while coming up with speciality brews often which keeps you coming back. Typical bar food for the most part, the wings and deep fried green beans are my favorites. read more

Don't go to this place. I came in at 8:30 and they were closing at 9. Seems the owners were knee deep in a card came and I was a disruption. They closed at 9 and I simply came in for a beer. They made me feel like a HUGE inconvenience. I will not be back and btw, the iPA was average. Lots of craft beer places in the area that would love my business. Skip this one. read more

An updated version from my last review! Due to a variety of reasons unknown to me, this quaint little brewery had to close their cozy little pub! With a little time and patience they have resurfaced in a slightly more commercial location. Still so impressed with the personal customer service, quality and variety of their brews, family friendly atmosphere and genuine appreciative attitude. Cool little spot not too far off of avenue 12. Great brews. We did tasting flights so we could sample a little of everything. I loved the good morning blondie, it's a light beer with a bold coffee flavor. They have growlers as well that can be refilled. Great service, clean bathroom. Can't believe I'm the first to review, but I'll take the honor. The wife and I were on our way back to the Bay Area from a Labor Day weekend at Millerton and Bass Lakes. Although it was Labor Day, Second Sons Brew opened their doors for us, and Troy and Cindy couldn't have been more hospitable. And the beer was very good! My wife enjoys lighter and fruity beers. She enjoyed their Just Beer and Strawberry Blonde. I like darker beers and their Velvet Night (Stout) did not disappoint. What was special, however, was their Good Morning Blondie...Creamy, with both a coffee scent and light flavor....really a great tasting, unique brew. We walked out of their with 5 Growlers (two of them the Good Morning Blondie), after a tasting flight and some pints....and great conversation and company with the owners. If you are passing through while visiting Yosemite Valley or other attractions in the area, stop by this place! A little out of the way, but I promise it's worth the trip. This place is a hidden gem! If you love a good craft beer, do yourselves a favor and drop by!!! Troy is a super friendly dude who has a major gift when it comes to creating AMAZING beer. I tried every beer they had on tap and quite frankly, I was shocked that I actually enjoyed them all! During my visit there was a beer on tap called "Luck of the Irish" (or something like that), anyways, it had some type of whiskey worked into it. Normally, that's not something I would enjoy, but I figured what the hell, let's give it a shot. I typically prefer my whiskey in shots and my beer in pints, never really have been a big fan of whiskey barrel-aged beers. This beer blew me away. Troy is a master of BALANCE! I went into that beer with a negative mindset and it rocked my world lol. All this to say, if you're a fan of Tioga-Sequoia, HoP, Full Circle, etc. - do yourself a favor and pop on in here if you can catch them during their hours of operation, you will not regret it!!!! read more

Came by on a Saturday afternoon for tasting. Small place with a couple little tables and a couch inside and, 3-4 stools at the bar and additional seating outside. I noticed a corn hole setup, but we didn't get a chance to play. the decor is cozy with lots or reclaimed wood. Our group of three were the only ones in the brewery when we arrived, but by the end of the afternoon there were about 10 of us in there total and turned into a really fun atmosphere. Troy and Cindy are great friendly people and we were having a great time even before others showed up. An absolutely great and comfortable place to spend an afternoon drinking some brew. Now to the important part: The Beer! I was extremely surprised by the number of beers on tap for such a small brewery. I think there were some 13-15 that were available, we tasted them all then had a couple pints of what we really enjoyed. There is a little of something for everyone. From their Just Beer, to an IPA and several stouts. They even have a few specialty experimental brews, like a peppery stout and one brewed with Lucky Charms (yes the cereal) and Irish Whiskey. Everything we tasted was good and a few were exceptional. The beer that stood out the most was Good Morning Blondie. When I think of coffee beer, stouts and porters always come to mind, I wouldn't think of a blond. They came up with their own coffee bend for this one and the coffee flavor shines through wonderfully. It's also creamy, unbelievably smooth and refreshing. As a avid lover of beer I was left wanting to experience something new and found Second Sons Brews which seemed to be a grass roots brewer with a friendly family vibe based on the online ratings I've found and the photos on their Facebook page. When I arrived to the establishment I was immediately greeting by Cindy who was very kind to welcome me as if she was welcoming me into my home. I was handed a menu of selections to review and did not have my reading glasses. 2 patrons immediately offered me there glasses so I could read the menu and right away I knew I was going to enjoy the people within the small area that seemed to be an extension of their house. I was then introduced to the owner/brewer Troy and again was treated very nicely. As for the beer, I really enjoyed all the selections I tasted and finished the evening off with their "hard" rootbeer which blows away the one that Riley's is making in the local area. It was a great night with great conversation and a place I'd definitely like to return to soon. read more
