Went into Perko's in Madera today with my buddy, and from the moment we walked in, Vanessa made us feel welcome. She got us seated quickly and kept our drinks filled with ninja-like speed throughout our visit. I believe the young man who took our order was Tommy, (senior moments) and he did a great job. My buddy ordered the Chili Verde Plate, and wow--it looked so good I almost wished I had ordered it myself! Instead, I went with the Ribeye Plate cooked well done, and I have to say, the cook absolutely nailed it. What impressed us even more was how fast the food came out--about 5 to 10 minutes after ordering. Vanessa, Tommy, and the rest of the staff checked on us regularly and made sure everything was perfect. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the entire experience was on point. Was looking for a sit down breakfast spot on my way over to Mono Hot Springs Resort for the Memorial Day Weekend & so glad I found this gem of a cafe. Place had a fun farm theme, from the exterior red barn style architecture, to the barn doors between the dining area and booths, and the all American decor. It was very packed for a Friday morning but we were able to get seated within a few minutes and our server had great hospitality. And when I say... the portions here are GENEROUS - believe me! I couldn't believe how much food you get for your order, and the best part is, every bite hit. I decided to veer out of what I typically get for breakfast and did a lil sweet and savory moment and got the stuffed French toast with a sweet cream cheese filling and strawberry topping, and it came with 2 eggs of your choice, potato of choice, and either bacon or sausage. Bacon had the perfect amount of crisp, I asked for my hash browns extra crispy and they hit it on the nose. My partner got a bacon cheese burger. Bun was toasted, patty was flavorful, bacon was bussin, and he said they don't seem to skimp out at all on the fries! Price was very very reasonable for the portions, about $45 for this- my partner is from the Bay Area and so he's used to this quality of food and portions to be $$$$$$ and he even said this was such a deal! Family friendly place for sure, employees are super attentive, and left satisfied with the meal and service. I love this place! Family owned and they have such a beautiful story! Nate (Nathaniel) was our waiter. WHAT GREAT SERVICE! Our drinks were always filled, offered ranch for our fries before we even asked, and told us they would make changes if possible. Garlic parm fries were not on the menu but was an option! I got the Cobb salad snd asked that it have steak instead of chicken and it wasn't problem. The salad was huge!!! Can't wait to go again. Literally better service than a 5 star. I ordered and paid ahead for a club sandwich. When I arrived to pick it up, I walked past the line of guests waiting to be seated , since my order was already paid for, that seemed reasonable. I stood patiently, fully understanding how busy the restaurant was. However, as I waited, the hostess continued to call up other guests (four separate times) without any acknowledgment of my presence. We even made eye contact more than once, yet there was no greeting, smile, or indication that she noticed I was waiting. This happened with two different hostesses. Eventually, my fiancé stepped forward near the register, but the hostess avoided eye contact entirely, staring at the screen instead. It wasn't until I finally spoke up and said I was there for a pickup that she acknowledged us -- and suddenly seemed to notice the 6'2" man standing right in front of her. Fifteen minutes went by before I received my food, and I had to initiate the interaction myself. I was not greeted, not engaged, and my food l, which had been ready for some time; was soggy by the time I got it. The ranch inside was even warm from sitting too long. This was my fiancé's first time at this establishment, and unfortunately, he's now hesitant to return if this is the tone and level of service to expect. I understand being busy, truly. But making direct eye contact with a customer and choosing not to acknowledge them, not even with a simple "Hi, we'll be right with you," is disappointing and leaves a poor impression. Overall, the experience was less than stellar. I would have appreciated better communication and fresher food, but hopefully this feedback helps improve future service for others. read more

My family have been treating me out to lunch lately. (My mental health thanks them!) My mom and I were hungry so I drove us to Perko's! This was my first time eating at Perko's but not my mom's. I ordered a BBQ bacon cheeseburger w/fries. My mom ordered a club sandwich with sweet potato fries. She also ordered us a banana split that I forgot to take a picture of! Overall, the food was amazing! Great portion sizes. The service from our waitress was excellent as well. She was fast and efficient. (Can't remember her name.) My son picked up the food today this morning, and I ordered chili beans, it's so disappointing - chili bean was so bland, it does not taste like the chili bean from Wendy's. This restaurant is supposed to be sit down diner, but today is disappointing, it seems like they just opened a can of pinto beans and added some bland ground beef. I wasn't impressed soon as you walk in it smells old and dated service was ok , they gave you menus and brought you a beverage of your choice in timely fashion. I was very disappointed with the fish and chips. The fries overly salty and the fish had no salt / seasoning or flavor at all none.. We started going to Madera Speedway about 4 years ago and the track staff said this is the place to go for good food. So four years ago we tried in and have been coming back here every race season since. We are here for 10 weekends of the year and every time we have perkos at least twice per visit. Our favorite meal is breakfast. Don't get me wrong all the food is good but breakfast does us in. My favorite is the breakfast burrito. Bacon, eggs, country potatoes, cheese and I'm happy. My husband orders the tommy burrito (which is not on the menu). This burrito has country fried steak and eggs (over medium is best), with gravy and tater tots. My husband likes to add a slice of cheddar cheese but that's up to you. This burrito was created by the staff not us. It's worth every bite. My kids love the oatmeal, the pancakes and the waffles. They are teenagers so they aren't as picky as when they were little. The strawberry lemonade is delicious and has tons of floating strawberries in it and sugar on the rim. Sorry no good pics. Went for dinner last night. Glad to find another Madera business to frequent. I had the Chinese chicken salad. It is super delicious. The peanut sauce dressing and the crispy chicken really make this a dish I will order again and again. My husband had the loaded chicken with Mac n cheese(box) and mashed potatoes with gravy. My Parents really enjoy coming here so for Sunday morning breakfast we got invited to join them and my other siblings. Place was pretty busy on Sunday morning. Food took a bit long to get to use but like I said they were busy. Food was hot when we got it coffee tasted fresh and it was nice and hot. Civic-19 phase: My mother called in and said she wanted to place a curbside pick up. He immediately put her on hold and we could hear them talking and having multiple conversations. Not good ones either. The guy said a woman had a "mouse trap." This was for over 5 minutes. My mother became irritated and called back. The worker was nice and just said they were very busy. She ordered the country fair cinnamon roll and an egg white omelet with sliced turkey, fresh spinach and tomatoes and added bell peppers, avocado and onions. He said it would be 10 minutes. She called in when we got there. He said it would be out shortly and it was. He said they are crazy busy and he was serving alone. He was not masked, but he did have gloves on. Very nice. Took the food home to enjoy. The omelet was very good! Fresh tomatoes and liked the turkey meat. Fresh veggies and loved the cottage cheese!
