Although I do like the food here, I can't come back for breakfast because coffee is too important. Admittedly, I am a coffee head and theirs is not good. Even worse, though, it takes forever to get my initial cup of coffee and they rarely come by to refill. This morning I had to get up and find the wait person to follow up on my coffee. She was in the kitchen talking with my cup in her hand. I get it, not everyone is a coffee person. Unfortunately, I can barely talk until I've had my first two cups. First time trying this breakfast/brunch spot and definitely won't be the last! We were greeted with a smile and promptly brought to our seats. Plenty of space and decently quiet, able to hold conversations well. Service was quick and waitress was super friendly! I ordered the Tom's Scramble with hash browms and a sausage patty on top. Absolutely delicious! Gravy could use a little more flavor, but the sausage patty on top did the trick. The biscuit on the bottom was moist, buttery and just super delish and tied everything together. My parents got the crab cake Benedict with red potatoes (definitely tasted like real crab meat!) I've come here before and it was great but when I tell you my second visit was even better believe it. The vodka drink I had was refreshing and the portion size of my entree was perfect. This location took southern hospitality to a new level. We came and had an amazing meal but during the process, accidentally got an SD card for a camera stuck on the side between the wall and a booth. Damn near everyone on the staff came by and went above and beyond to help us get it back after about 10 minutes of trying!!!! Cannot thank the staff enough for their effort and care, they genuinely made our day! I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. As someone who has had weight loss surgery, I am not able to eat large portions and usually order from the children's menu when available. Unfortunately, the restaurant would not allow me to do so, even after I explained my medical situation. They do have the option for smaller portions but even then that would have been too much. I feel bad for Senior Citizens as they do not have a senior menu. Not only was this policy inconsiderate, but it also left me feeling unwelcome as a customer. Restaurants should understand that not everyone can eat full adult-sized meals, and being flexible in situations like this shows respect and compassion for guests' individual needs. I hope management reconsiders this policy so that others in similar circumstances don't have the same negative experience I had. read more

Stopped by to have a quick brunch on a Sunday morning. I want to say the service was top notch, we were sat pretty quickly and our waitress was very attentive with the coffee, water and food. Ambiance is typical for a theme diner with bayou themed items on the wall and southern bayou style food. The food was great and filling and the coffee was kept flowing by our awesome waitress. Nice little breakfast spot to check out while driving out of Fresno. We came here on a Sunday around 11:30AM and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table of 2. What we ordered: Cajun Benedict - This wasn't anything super special...just 2 poached eggs over slices of tomato over a sourdough toast and served with an andouille sausage. The slice of tomato made the sourdough toast soggy; possibly the fried tomato would have been a better option. The dish wasn't terrible but nothing spectacular. 3/5 Huckleberry muffin - This was a great little snack. A nice sweetness from the huckberries but not super sweet overall. I've seen several huckleberry's around fresno but today was my first time trying it. It has a Louisiana/Cajun theme to the restaurant. There was a lot of good looking choices for breakfast. I decided on the California Benedict, Normally I stick to what I know but this one intrigued me. It a English muffin topped with fried green tomatoes, poached egg, hollandaise sauce & a balsamic glaze. It was really good, however I didn't taste the tomato but I'm not to familiar with fried green tomatoes. The eggs were poached well, had some runnyness to it. The hollandaise sauce was just ok the thing they made it so good was that balsamic glaze. Added a little bit of complexity to the dish that I really enjoyed. The beignets were not at all what I was expecting. I personally wouldn't consider them beignets but not donuts either. They were on the huckleberry jam served with them was excellent though. It was busy so the waitress didn't really check in, unfortunately I never got a water refill. read more

We've seen Huckleberry's restaurants all over town and stopped here for Sunday breakfast recently. Ambiance: Reminds you of a cozy, Southern back porch with decor to match. It's very on brand. Starters: We ordered the usual water, juice and coffee while we perused the menu. The appetizer choices are limited and fried, so we didn't order any of those. What we ordered: Drinks - southern peach iced tea, swamp tea and strawberry lemonade. Although the peach tea was good, strawberry lemonade was the winner. Food - Huckleberry waffle with scrambled eggs and "country" potatoes, Huck's sweet crepes, Louisiana catfish and chicken and waffles. The catfish entree was the overall winner. Pros: The catfish and chicken were seasoned pretty good. Waffles and crepes were a good size. Cons: The waffles and crepes were lukewarm, almost cold. We specifically asked the waitress if the potatoes were served country style with bell peppers and onion and she enthusiastically responded that they were. However, when they arrived, they were sad little things.....plain, unseasoned sliced potatoes and slightly undercooked. No one likes to bite into undercooked potatoes! Service: Our waitress took our order and returned with a portion of the food before disappearing for a while. We had to ask a different waitress about the rest of our food and that's when our waitress returned a few minutes later. She said there was a miscommunication in the kitchen and that's why the remaining food items came later. Not sure why this wasn't mentioned to us earlier without having to ask about it, but it felt like a lie. There wasn't an apology or discount or refills on drinks to improve their lack of service. Looking forward to a return visit? Probably not. The lukewarm and forgotten food order made a big impression and not in a good way. read more

Ordered steak ribeye steak for self and companion. Both steaks were ordered to be cooked to medium doneness both arrived well done. The steak itself was tuff and chewy. Ordered over easy eggs and were served as such. Both of us felt the eggs were way undercooked and very runny. Both of us had the hash browns that were crispy and delicious. I had the Huckleberry muffin which was fine not memorable my companion had wheat toast which to be honest is pretty hard to mess up. We both had the strawberry lemonade which we both enjoyed. Food was good, floor had trash under table and there was a weird white liquid stain on the wall next to the seat along with various ketchup & grease splatters on the wall. The cashier and the waitress had attitudes and argued with me when they overcharged me on a couple of items. I haven't been to a Huckleberry's location in years so I thought it was good time to try it again. Service was good. All the waitresses were friendly and our orders were placed promptly. We ordered pancakes and an egg white omelette with hash browns and a biscuit. The waitress read back and confirmed our order. It had taken some time for our food to come out, even though there were only a few other patrons in the restaurant. That is not what ended up being brought out to us. As the waitress was placing our food down, she mentioned how the omelette was made with whole eggs instead of egg whites and she would go back to the kitchen and ask them to remake it. Instead of causing the trouble, we said it's fine. However, when she placed the second plate down and left, we realized it was the sweet cream crepes instead of pancakes. I decided not to make a fuss since at that point we were pretty shocked both orders were made wrong. There must've been some miscommunication between the front of the house and back of the house. The food was pretty bland. The sweet cream crepes were filled with almost a cream cheese that was too much for my taste. I had to ask for syrup for it, but even then couldn't finish it. The biscuit was just below average as it resembled more of a dinner roll than biscuit. I don't think I could see myself coming back in the near future. read more

When we picked up the order, the server checked and claimed everything was in the bag. When we took it home, both waffles that we paid additional cost for were missing. I've been trying a few different breakfast places this week and today I decided on the W Shaw Huckleberry's. Parked the car, walked across the parking lot and entered the establishment. Apparently through the "back" door. Lol. Anyway, someone saw me standing by the door and promptly got me seated. For first timers, use the double doors, not the single door. Lol. A server asked me what I would like to drink and was soon back with hot green tea. I placed my order and it didn't take long to be brought out. I had eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. Everything was was good and my server checked in on me to see if everything was OK. Cute decor inside the restaurant, like dining on the bayou. This place opened a few months ago and we've been to several of their locations from Anaheim to Pismo Beach and they have a lot to figure out. My wife had the hearty soup and salad where the lettuce had lots of brown lettuce in it. Her soup was exceptional however. I had the shrimp Po Boy with extra aïoli sauce and it was good, however, I asked for my fries to be well done and what I got was old fries mixed with newer fries and that was a damn no no!
