Dropped by on a Friday night and to my surprise the place was pretty empty. The menu has great selections and service was reasonably fast considering everything was cooked fresh. I appreciate the affordable prices, such as adding the salad on for $2.99 more, although I would charge $1 more and add shredded cheese. While in town for a meeting I came across the California Grill looking for a place to eat close to my hotel. So I placed a takeout order of their Lobster Ravioli and was told the dish would be ready within 10-15 minutes. Given that the place was within a mile from where I was staying I got there ahead of time and took a few pictures of the restaurant. My order came out shortly after and I was on my way back to my hotel room. When I returned to my room I was pleasantly surprised at how much food I was given and it's definitely enough for two people. The Lobster Ravioli dish was still nice and hot. It was loaded with stuffed lobster ravioli and several large pieces of shrimp. While the dish was quite good the one thing it was missing the most was the lobster flavor. The shrimps on the other hand were delicious and proof that I didn't lose my sense of smell or taste. The small side salad was fresh but the garlic bread was too soggy and I wished it could have been a little bit more crunchy. Overall this was a good dining experience and most definitely I would come back for more. 3.5 Stars for reasonably priced & tasty food and friendly service. I'll be back. Absolutely delicious! I relied on Yelp to find us a yummy spot to eat while passing through Madera. This place did not disappoint! After asking the waitress for her top two favorite items, she suggested that we have a burger (forgive me I don't recall the name) that had sautéed mushrooms bacon cheese and a penne pasta with chicken and shrimp. Staff were super friendly! I called literally 1 1/2 hour before closing time to see if they're taking dine-in and a family of 5, to my surprise they said yes and were very accommodating with us. Food was delicious!!! Pastas were cooked to perfection just like how I love them, al dente. It's also a plus that they have a kids' menu for my 3 children, they loved the fries, chicken strips, and Mac n Cheese. I came here with my boss and my coworkers to celebrate a promotion in our unit. We arrived at California Grill around 12:30pm and was promptly seated. We had a party of 9 of us and there was only one waitress handling a full restaurant. Since Madera is small I saw a lot of familiar faces that I see in court working with lawyers for my job. This appears to be the lawyer hang out for sure. You know a restaurant is good when you can have lawyers, judges to construction workers dining in. I wish I knew the waitress/server name because we she did an amazing job. She took all of our orders. The menu is very diverse and my boss recommended the Shrimp Diabola pasta which was 12.99 or 14.99 not bad. The waitress said it was spicy but I love spicy. My pasta was so delicious and it had a plethora amount of shrimp and it was not spicy at all. It came with bread so yummy! I would definitely come back again. They have food for every taste bud you can imagine. I will be back to try out the other dishes. I left a nice tip for the waitress for handling all us plus additional people. This restaurant has obvious disregard to public health and and rules regarding COVID. No employees wear masks as they interpret the ordinance to saying it is NOT mandated!! We were on or way to the Parks and stopped here for dinner. When we walked in, it was a bit disconcerting to see the place was empty but I am so glad we stayed. I ordered the fish in a spicy Robert sauce and it was absolutely delicious. My partner had the nachos, which I noted were served with real homemade guacamole.
