I was a holiday, the 4th. They were shorthanded and it sounded like at least one of the cooks was in training. At the door they were telling people that it would be 45 minute before their order could be placed but they could be seated and have coffee if they wanted to wait. The wait was actually about 20 minutes. We both ordered the Magnificent 7, two eggs, two slices of bacon and 3 pancakes. Mine came missing one slice of bacon my wife's came with everything plus a hash browns as a bonus. I was OK with that because the reason we went there was because it was supposed to be free for me as a veteran. The catch was that the offer was only good a participating restaurants and this wasn't one of them. If you get a free offer email from Perkins I suggest you call the one you going first to make sure they will honor it. They did honor it but! Also I should mention we ordered a pie to take home. The crust was slightly undercooked. For me undercooked is better than overcooked but not to this extent." Top manager at this place goes out drinking with his staff. Brings personal feelings and opinions into the workplace rather than professionalism and treating staff based on work performance. Doesn't follow employment laws. Does whatever he feels rather than what the laws state.This place is a very toxic place! All servers but one during the day is professional. The server that's not professional or friendly goes out drinking with the top manager therefore can do no wrong. We decided to have breakfast after church last Sunday. We were seated quickly and our server came right over and got our drink order. She was very friendly and was happy to get every table seated in her section. We ordered and it took a while for the food to come. My apple cinnamon muffin was warm and delicious. My husband and I both had omelets which were fine. The restaurant was clean and looked like most other Perkins. We were really happy with the service definitely the best part of our visit. read more

Great staff! Kurt T. the long term cook is the glue that binds when talking about returning patrons this Perkins. Kurt has never EVER got my order wrong and my food constantly looks the closest to the pictured in the menu. Kurt and Ben from wait staff have kept me going to this perkins for many years. Ben is the most positive energy driven charismatic waiter I've ever seen! Horrible customer service. I went to pick up an online order, and the lady at the front desk took me to the side to help other customers. She left without helping me. Then another woman came, and I asked her about my order. The whole time, it was ready to go. All the first lady had to do was tell me it was ready and tell me where to pick it up. I'm unsure why she couldn't just do her job from the start when it was simple enough for me to look at a specific spot. She was extremely rude and disrespectful because she couldn't find what I wanted on the register to ring it in. Perkins has become a regular dining experience for us. We love the Turkey & Dressing and I tried Talapia for the first time during this visit. They were delicious and our service has always been very positive. Ben was our waiter and he was very good always checking on our needs offering refills. The pies, muffins and and all of their bakery items are baked daily in their own restaurant. They follow all COVID procedures and we felt safe when we visited October 2020. We hope they will continue to serve Elk River flying their large US American flag. read more

I'm a Texas boy! In Texas, sadly, we do not have Perkins. So needless to say, when I am visiting the midwest, I go to Perkins as much as possible. I only order one thing. That one thing is the chicken tender melt. If there was a such thing as the perfect sandwich, this would be it. Everything about it is perfect. The buttery grilled sourdough bread, with perfectly crisp chicken tenders, topped with pepper jack cheese, with a side of ranch. Their fries are amazing also. If you haven't had it, get it! Perkins trumps all other chain diners around. They have a wide variety of items to choose from. Let's not forget about all the pies and desserts they have. Now only if we can get them to franchise in Texas. I'll just have to rack up my frequent flier miles in the mean time. read more

This is one of the better Perkins in the Metro Area. My wife and I were at the hotel a few hundred feet away, and we had a late night meal on a cold 10 degree night! GOOD: Our food was good and it came out quickly. The bakery display case looked beautiful...although we didn't treat ourselves this time. Our server was very nice. My wife was impressed with the generous variety of teas in the big wooden tea box. BAD: On the other hand, someone in back (not our server) was really bitchy about some VERY SIMPLE substitutions that we wanted to do. The person in back nixed us and sent our server out to tell us "NO". This was pretty irritating since there was only one other occupied table in the whole restaurant. I felt our requests were very reasonable. And we didn't care about money or any up-charge. This kind of crap is exactly why big old school food chains are struggling. My wife and I were there for dinner last eve.Can you please answer me this . This is the 3 rd time we had dinner there when one of the waitress started to vacuum the floor in the restaurant.I for one do not want carpet dust flying around the place when I have my meal! Can't tho wait til later on in the evening like say before closing time? I understand that the place needs to get cleaned but do you have to start it at 7:30 in the evening ? Also, I was not impressed with the meal I had as well this evening. It tasted good, but when it arrived to our table, the food was lukewarm. The meal I ordered comes on a skillet that is usually sizzling when it arrives to eat. This presentation was far from it. Also, the waitress forgot to bring me my salad that I ordered, and it arrived after my main course did. I ordered the California Benedict. Being from a California, I must say I'm impressed! What blew my mind the most is that the English muffin was toasted in a way that it stayed crispy through my whole meal, being soaked in the egg yolk and hollandaise the toast usually gets soggy. elkriver Perkins used to be a great place to eat and the waitstaff was awesome, empl that have worked there for 20 plus yrs. then it was sold and got a new general manager named Pam and this Perkins went to hell! she didn't care about your staff definantly not the customers !! she ran out most of the long time employees and now that Perkins is a dump!! get rid of the general manager and maybe they can make that Perkins great again!! read more

Its nothing really too special if you think about it. You walk in any time of the day, and you know there is 3 things you can always count on Perkins for. A cup of coffee, and awesome Omelet, and an even better piece o' pie haha. Love their strawberry cheesecake pie... YUM. I cannot complain really, everything I get at perkins is always delicious. Particularly fond of the denver omelet and grandmas Omelet, french toast and pancakes haha. But I have tried a few different omelets and furtadas and such Never been disappointed. Decent "diner food" nothing out of the ballpark. Usually am a late night eater here when I go and have exceptional service. Came here recently on a Sunday for breakfast and was very disappointed. Staff was friendly but with how slow table service went I got the impression they were short staffed. Overall, great for after 7pm food. Any other time is just messy. read more

I'm in my 60's, I got THE WORST MEAL EVER from this place!!! It was a holiday and I was going to have dinner with my son when he got off work at 4 in the afternoon. We decided to get something to go rather then cook. I ordered the open face turkey sandwich, asking them not to assemble it so as to not have the gravy make the bread soggy. Had I looked in the box I NEVER would have paid!! All our food was cold (I live a mile away)! Three skinny small pieces of turkey so dry it broke like burnt bacon, even my cats would't eat it! A couple weeks ago my daughter talked me into trying this place again. Their pancakes used to be plate size, not now, they are the size of a small plate, but they fit on the "new" smaller plate size!!! Does Perkins think their consumers are dumb? My daughter ordered the eggs benedict, I an omelet. We had to ask for CLEAN silverware as the first set was DIRTY! The eggs were so GREASY and the omelet had all the filling on one side and the one bite I had was so dry I had a hard time swallowing it! Needless to say we talked to the waitress and walked out.
