I had to update my review after our excellent service and food recently received. We were met by the owner Laurie Rick who is always so pleasant full of energy. With all of this COVID stuff going on and the challenges hiring staff, Laurie and all the staff have managed to keep Denny's at a high level of service and good food. Denny's has become a regular place for our family to eat for dinner, lunch or breakfast. We have gone many times because it is so convenient only a mile away from home. We have never been disappointed by their service and recently was very pleased by the service provided by our waitress, Michelle. She was very good to check on our large family of seven and our guests from out of town. My favorite dish at Denny's is their new Mediterranean Chicken. Prices are very reasonable. read more

It seems this restaurant at 9020 Quaday Ave. NE in Otsego is a ghost kitchen for both MrBeastburger and NASCAR Refuel. the Mcbeast burger in terrible, like a meatloaf sandwich, fries were undercooked. I know what you are thinking...seriously, is this broad giving 5 stars to a Denny's? Yes. Yes, I am. Why? I was at this Denny's roughly 10-12 times over 3.5 days. If we were not on wedding duty, we were at Denny's. We saw every shift change, every meal, ever smile in the joint! Each one was 5 stars. Dude - how can you NOT love this place? I mean sure, it is a Denny's. Same menu from coast to coast. Grand slam. Moons over my hammy. We get it. But the staff - AWESOME! We were out of towners (which was evident at our inability to pronounce the town name), some from MN, some from the east coast, some from TX. The Minnesota winter was killing us and each time we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome, silly banter and a genuine smile. And the claw machine - we rocked that mofo! Dora the Explora who is only worth a quarta..OR COURSE I will pay five dollars for you! The locals patrons even gave us extra quarters to win her when we ran out and gathered around to cheer us on. Overall the place was clean, the food was quick and warm, the "special orders" were right and the staff was very attentive - regardless of the hour or how goofy and annoying we may have been due to exhaustion and or a drink or two. My wife and I used to go to Denny's in Otsego for our weekly dinner out - often times as an alternative to Rockwoods when they looked packed. The staff at Denny's was always courteous and the food was good. Our last visit changed our view of this restaurant - we are not going to come back. We went there on a Friday night and our server was pleasant but seemed to not have her head in the game. My wife ordered the half plate of nachos. When they arrived we dug in and they were good as usual. I commented that the order seemed large for half an order. We asked our server about that when she came back with our entrees and she looked a bit confused at first then admitted it was a full order of nachos - but not to worry about it. When our check came - sure enough she had billed us for the full order. We asked her about it when we saw her walk by our table and she took our check and was gone for a long time. She came back and sheepishly told us that she got it reduced to the half order price, which meant $3 off. I was kind of expecting to just not be charged for the nachos because of all the hassle - but whatever. We took our check up to the front to pay and leave. The manager was at the cash register (the MANAGER) and she was arrogant and rude and more or less accused us of pulling a fast one on our nacho order (so we could rip Denny's off for $3???). She delivered her accusation as if she were the "all knowing, all seeing" wisened owl! I looked back at her with amazement and disbelief, paid the check, left a $1 tip and we left... and we haven't been back since. As a source of bemusement to ourselves - my wife and I do refer back to this experience as our "Great Nacho Caper" at the Denny's in Otsego because we successfully "scored" $3 in free nachos... :-( read more

I worked there for two months from August to October of this year. The cooks in the kitchen would touch their hair and faces and not wash their hands. The cooks in the kitchen would also eat food in the kitchen and not wash their hands after eating. If a bowl, pan, glass or any other dish fell on the floor nobody would take 10-20 seconds to clean it off with water and soap. The owners do not know how to run a business they are idiots they should have stayed with their original jobs which were nursing and construction. Management sucks too. Really terrible experience on Friday at lunch. Two of the three of us found hair in our food. One in corn and the other in the fruit. When we told the server, she acted like we were making it up. Accused us of already eating 1/2 the meal. Dont normally inspect an entire meal for hair before i start eating but i guess that is the reccomendation or expectation if you are eating here. Took my sixth grade teacher here for lunch last weds noon. Great Cobb chicken salad, hubby had salmon and teacher had chicken strips with soup. It was clean uncluttered and noise level was appreciative. Teacher is 89 now so it was her turn to choose the place to eat, she picked Denny's. I recall eating at many Denny's around the country. Waitress took the order for 5 of us. After a bit she came back to say they did not have the ingredients to make my food, so I ordered something else. It took quite a while but all the food came. Mine was very hot, freshly made. The rest of our group had food that obviously had been just kept warm. After a couple bites I found myself chewing on something that I ended up spitting out....it was a bread tie. The waitress took my plate, had fresh food made....so nice. But by now everyone was done eating, so I asked for a box to take my food home. My food was comped....oh how nice. But no apologies. We had planned to use the birthday app but did not order it correctly so they would not give the discount. I don't have anything good to say about the management. An apology goes a long way. The birthday discount should have been given. Our entire bill should have been discounted, even a small amount would have gone a long way. I really felt like no one cared and I won't be back....and I will share my experience with anyone who will listen to me! read more

Saturday morning, 10:30 am. Took over 20 minutes to get a waitress to take our order, took almost an hour to receive our food. Talked to manager.....the answer was "it's Saturday we are busy, you should expect to wait an hour for food". Flip Side: Perkins Elk River around same time: Food arrived in 12 minutes and they had a lobby full of people waiting. We usually frequent this Denny's about twice a month. It offers the value menu, which is great for a growing family on a budget when you're not sure how long your toddler will make it through the meal! We usually order multiple things from the value menu and share everything. Dinner for 4 for around $20 is rare these days, but Denny's makes it possible! The service is usually pretty good (older lady servers are the best) and they are quick on refills. They also have THE BEST Vanilla Coke I have ever had in my life. My wife and I have been coming to this Denny's since it was Embers, then the Otsego Cafe, now Denny's. This location has always been a great place to eat, great food, great staff, sometimes some bad live music, but the people the music is catering towards are always having a blast. The one time, out of the hundreds of visits, that we had our order wrong, they corrected it very quickly and still gave us a discount, because they are one of the few restaurants that care about their customers these days. That shows all over the entire place. You walk into this Denny's and you begin to feel like family. My wife is pregnant, and they have remembered this every time and many of the staff members stop by and talk to us while we are there. I know this is just a Denny's but this like no other Denny's or casual sit down we have been to. Whenever my wife and I can't decide where to eat, we always end up here, no matter how far we have to drive. Management is superb and so are the wait staff. I like this Dennys better than other ones nearby. The service is better and the restaurant itself is cleaner. We have always enjoyed the food. It is not fabulous, but filling and tasty.
