The downside is that it can get pretty loud and a little difficult to hear when it's busy, but it still has a cozy cafe feel overall. You might have to wait on a Saturday or Sunday morning maybe 20 minutes or less, due to the popularity of the restaurant --and the fact that it's the only breakfast restaurant in downtown Elk River. When you do get sat, the service is fast-- your coffee is always filled and hot! The food comes out fairly quickly and is always hot and delicious. It actually can get pretty loud in there. It is a very old building with an open floor plan, so when a lot of people get in there then start talking it can get to a medium roar, but nothing too loud. It's not like you have to shout at the person across the table so they can hear you. The prices are reasonable and comparable to the prices around the area, and bonus **if you have purchased an Elk River Football card, (and you have the card with you) you can get five dollars off your meal! read more

We really liked this restaurant. It was bright and clean. We were waited on right away by a friendly server. I couldn't resist ordering a salad from the summer menu and my husband got a Cajun chicken wrap. We were both extremely pleased with our choices. My salad was fresh, light and crunchy with dressing I could add myself. I didn't need 2 but if you like lots of dressing it was available. My husband said his wrap and the slaw were both good. I had a good view of the kitchen and could see people handling food with no gloves or hairnets. The hair covering I could see in the kitchen was a MAGA hat on a young man in a dirty shirt with a partially exposed wound on his arm. As someone who likes their food free of contaminants and hair? This is my first review. I actually downloaded the app for this, so it goes without saying that I feel very strongly about my trip to the Olde Main. I went to the restaurant with my Father, Aunt, and Grandfather. The service was passable, but unfortunately sluggish for the amount of customers. That is to say, we spent ample time looking at the bottom of an empty coffee mug. Anyway, It was not far into the breakfast when my Aunt pushed her plate to the side. Her hash browns were swimming in grease. Unfortunately for me, I had gotten the eggs benedict, and hollandaise veiled the threat on my end. After finishing what I could eat, I was starting to feel sick. My Father and Grandfather were outspokenly unimpressed with the quality of their meal as well, and we all agreed we wouldn't return. Sadly, that wouldn't be the final word on the subject; that belonged to the Olde Main's chef. For the next two days I lived with what felt like a rock the size of a small marmot in my stomach. I've never dealt with an eatery that caused me so much irritation over such an extended period of time. Hopefully, grease-guzzling meals are the exception rather than the rule at Old Maine, but from my experience I couldn't tell you otherwise. There's much better breakfast to be had elsewhere. read more

This downtown Elk River restaurant makes you feel at home. The plate of food was just the right amount- not too much and not too little. It tasted good. The service was fast and staff was polite. The only thing that wasn't pleasant was how freezing it was inside but I just assumed they had it cold because it was going to be 90 degrees outside.
