The Block in Rogers is definitely worth checking out. Great food and service and bonus if you are a dog lover as they are pet friendly. We had a great brunch experience today, starting with Famous Block Cheese Curds. The curds were fresh and deliciously fried in a well seasoned batter. The star of this app was the spicy jam - so good! Only critique on the curds, super greasy, they could've benefited from a good drip/drain in the fryer basket. The Classic Breakfast was just that, classic! Bacon was crisp and delicious, the creamy hashbrowns are what dreams are made of. My bride had the Honey Salmon Toast, although she said it was delicious, she noted that there was almost too much salmon. Other than that the flavors were on point and played well together. And finally the Chock-a-Block Omelette was done well with fresh ingredients and a silky smooth hollandaise sauce. A touch heavy on the paprika, but overall a solid execution. We had reservations for 6pm on Mother's Day We were not seated until almost 7. Then we had to sit out in the patio unless we wanted to wait even longer. Asked if they could turn on the outdoor heaters. "I'll ask the manager" Heat was not turned on for over an hour. They had run out of the chicken and French fries. We had to adjust our menu selections. Waiting over 50 minutes for our food. The servers were great and the food was good But management needs to improve. read more

This was our second visit--somewhat reluctant to return after our first experience--but we were pleasantly surprised this time around. Definitely an improvement, but still not a go-to spot for us: Philly-Style French Dip (7.5/10): Solid sandwich. The au jus was flavorful and the beef was tender--not dry at all. Plenty of onions and peppers, and the cheese worked well. Could've used more sauce overall to tie it together better. Fries (6.5/10): Tasty, but nothing to write home about. They weren't fluffy inside, nor overly crispy--just... there. Cowboy Burger (7.5/10): Good overall, but again, could've used more BBQ sauce. Bacon was nice and crisp (but thin), and the pretzel bun was unfortunately a letdown--stale and hard. Parm Truffle Fries: Decent if you're looking for a change from regular fries. Didn't really taste the parmesan and wouldn't call them standout, but not bad. Half Broasted Chicken: Well-cooked and crispy skin, but lacking seasoning and salt. The mashed potatoes had good flavor but were lumpy, and the slaw was a bit dry--not creamy enough for our taste. Pretzel Bites: One of the highlights! Big, fluffy, hot, and salty in the best way. The cheese sauce was excellent, and the mustard sauce struck a nice balance--not overly sweet. Walleye Tacos: Surprisingly good! Great flavor, though they could use more sauce. The slaw overpowered a bit, and the tortilla felt too large for the filling. Final Thoughts: Service was great, and while the food was better than our first visit, it still didn't wow us. A few solid items, but most dishes had minor issues that added up. Might stop back if someone wanted to go, but wouldn't go out of our way. read more

I was excited to see the Block expanded to the northern suburbs! It had been quite a while since I'd been to the SLP one, but I do recall liking it so I was excited to check out the one in Rogers. It's a really lovely space! Nice interior and gorgeous patio. The staff was friendly and attentive. There was a short wait for patio seating but it was definitely worth it. I was impressed with the cocktail menu. I love myself a craft drink, and I was pleased that there were several options that were unique and interesting. I LOVED the Reyna's Dove. I also love that a lot of the drinks used local spirits. The Royale with Cheese was AMAZING. It was cooked just the way I liked it and had just the right amount of cheese. I upgraded to the fries with seasoned sour cream. The sour cream was so good, I'm definitely getting it any time I have fries! The Block opened their 2nd location in Rogers just a few months ago. The space is absolutely beautiful! So clean and modern. They have a large volleyball court and are dog friendly! This place is hip! The decor is very modern, with clean lines, black and white decor. Larger TVS, a great patio area, where you are welcomed to bring your dogs. There is even a special menu just for them. The service was excellent. My husband ordered a cow, duck, goat burger and I ordered their half broasted chicken meal with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli. My husband loved his burger and thought it was the best burger he has had in a really long time. My meal had very large portions. The chicken was a bit overcooked for my liking, but flavor was good. The broccoli was flavorless, maybe this goes with a restaurant philosophy of health consciousness and wanting to stay true to a natural flavor versus add some butter and salt to it. But the gravy on the mashed potatoes was seasoned well and helped bring balance to the dish. Overall, I really liked this place and want to come back with my fur babies. read more

We just had the best food and service at The Block! Our first time here and we very much enjoyed our experience! We sat at the bar, and we loved the ambiance and cleanliness! Ordered two beers and my husband and I each ordered dinner. I had the salmon bowl! Amazing. Such fun flavors and so filling! My husband had the1/2 b roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. He loved it. The three bartenders on tonight were such fun spirits! And man, were they hustling! Very attentive to us,but also moving so fast to take care of the other customers! First time customer at the Block in Rogers last night . Nice Restaurant good service but pretty disappointing food. I had the broasted chicken which was highly recommended by waitress for house speciality along with 3-4 items on menu. My chicken was out in less than 5 minutes which was surprise because the menu said 20 minute wait for fresh broasted. My chicken was fried to death extremely dry tough chicken plus barely warm probably sitting under warmer for a long time. I have had better chicken in gas station deli. I would definitely try another item on menu than there fresh broasted chicken. read more

We've been here a few times, the food is always interesting and good. The tower of broasted chicken is divine, juicy and flavorful'. The Mac & cheese was decadent. Our resy was on the patio but it was 96 degrees so the mgr (on a busy night) accommodated us inside. We were seated quickly, server was attentive, drinks were refreshing, and the tequila steak salad + revamped salmon quinoa salad were both delicious! Met some friends for early dinner last Sunday. Sat for close to 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server. Put in drink order for the 4 of us. Two of us ordered tall gin & tonics with double lime, others in our group ordered Diet Coke and a glass of wine. Another ten minutes passed and gin & tonics showed up, except they were gin & club soda. Still waiting on Diet Coke & wine. Sent gin & club sodas back to be corrected. Five minutes go by still no Diet Coke and wine. Gin & tonics come back in low balls with no lime, send them back to be corrected, Diet Coke & wine show up. Order our meals, waited about 25 minutes for food, two of the four of entrees came out, five minutes later the other entrees showed up. It was a real test of patience and I really hope for the best for this place. Food was pretty good, will revisit again in the late Summer hoping they get it together. read more

I could not wait to try The Bloc after hearing Luke Derheim's interview with Jason DeRusha on 'CCO. After going there tonight I wished I would have gone elsewhere, especially since the prices are not just 'middle-of-the-road'. Maybe the owner should be at this location more often to train his staff and managers. First and foremost, the service was terrible. The managers had half the seating closed down for dinner, 5pm on a Sunday evening-ok whatever you want to do. Yet there were enough servers, but either way we had to wait. Which is fine. Once seated, our waitress was very kind and I will say apologetic, however items we ordered did not come out in time and were missed. In addition, we had a dish come out not as ordered due to a food sensitivity. We had to return the dish, which in-turn one in our party basically missed having dinner with the rest of us. This coupled with our wait staff not getting our beverages we ordered for over 30 minutes. I personally was done with my meal before I got a beverage. Mind you all these events transpired over 2 hours while we were seated at the restaurant. Dinner at any restaurant should not be 2 hours unless I am at Manny's or Gianni's. The service from the kitchen, bar, and down to our waitress was terrible! Granted we got one meal item comped but seriously? We should have had the entire bill comped because of this experience. Again, The Bloc is not a Clives or Maynards and I would hold them to a higher standard of quality and service, especially at their price-point. Food was ok, not wow. My husband and I ate here over the weekend and I was so excited to try this new place out! We were sat on their covered outdoor patio, which was great until it wasn't. It was about 4pm in the afternoon and there were some very intoxicated people yelling and being obnoxious. One group had their dog on the patio which is fine as I know they welcome dogs, however this large dog decided it was going to pee on the patio. The waiter just stood there standing in it and continued the conversation with the group at the table. All I could think of was how his next stop would be the kitchen where all the food was cooked, plus he had to walk through the restaurant to get there! No one poured water to wash it away and the owner said nothing about the dog peeing. It made me gag.. The food was ok but nothing better than bar food, (honestly the burgers are better at Mama G's! ). Nothing spectacular that would make me want to go back and it was expensive! They just opened and I know it takes a bit to get everything running as it should so I might try it again in 6 months because I really want to like this place. I'm just not sure it's really worth it. We were basically asked to leave before we wanted to because we were told that they had another group of 11 that wanted our table. They told us they wanted to be transparent. So upsetting. When I asked to speak to a manager they asked why. When speaking with the manager they were more interested in telling me their name than rectifying the situation. Was never told that they had a time limit but felt like this was the case. Was excited to have a new place to go but will not be back because of this experience. We went at our friends suggestion that live in Rogers. They had not been before either. We had the house margaritas to start. Think the tanks of cheap green Kool-Aid type margaritas in some Mexican restaurants. Low-end. They were on an evening special for $6. Two had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich. One with coleslaw and one with a side salad. Hardly any brisket, they were mostly sauce, cheese and bread. Sides okay. One had the broasted chicken sandwich, regular fries and a side of seasoned sour cream. The chicken wasn't crispy, but was soggy and the coating didnt have much flavor. The house pickles were good. The best thing were the fries. Nicely seasoned and crisp. The only negative on the fries was that they picked up some of the truffle flavor from the offering of truffle fries and I hate the flavor of truffles. The fourth person had the salmon bowl which she wasn't impressed with in flavor. Service was good. R Social down the road has better food. Because our friends invited us, we didn't complain, but had we dined by ourselves, my husband said he would have returned the brisket sandwich due to significant lack of brisket. Given other choices in Rogers, nearby St. Michael and Maple Grove, we won't be coming back. read more
