This is always a good stop for us as we travel North. Tonight my hubby had the beef barley soup and we shared the Chicken Fried Chicken, it was delicious and the veggies were perfectly al dente and fresh. Service was a bit slower tonight but there were a lot of people who had been Christmas shopping in the area. We sat at the bar to avoid a wait. What an amazing place, of course it was the first time I had been to a restaurant that sells pull tabs, played bingo and served a pretty damn good DEEP dish pizza. Who would've thought, Minnesota huh? This pizza was perfectly sauced, with amazing buttery bread with just a right amount of crisp. Overall, Clive's has been a family favorite for the last couple of years. Their happy hour food menu is an absolute favorite. My personal favorite is the Clive's Nachos. Large enough to share with the whole family, and very tasty at an affordable price. I'd recommend getting the nachos with beef, it comes with a bunch of guacamole, sour cream, and pico on the side. :) The ambiance of the restaurant is a very rustic vibe, and the service is always top notch. I'm going to take a break from ordering there. Normally, the food is good but there always seems to be something missing from the order. First world problem, but it's still pretty annoying to not get an extra you've paid. Last night was a step down. The food (shrimp tacos) was actually pretty bad. First time at Clive's a couple of weeks ago. I had the Walleye dinner and was very impressed with my meal. Jen was at the bar and she was engaging, helpful and overall very good at her job. Second time here with a large group of coworkers. Everything was excellent! Tried walleye fish for the first time and I loved it! Get it Cajun style. Ordered a mango salad with chicken that was totally unremarkable. Very loud music that was also unremarkable. Didn't recognize and of the songs but not that that's important for someone my age but you couldn't enjoy it because it was so loud. Hard to hear anyone talking. The salad came with a lime dressing that was so bland I asked for another type of dressing and they charged for it. My wife ordered a new item on the menu that was a barbecued chicken which sounded good but the barbecue was a little too sweet and still had a cheap sour bite to it. There aren't a lot of things that really set Clives out from a crowded list of sports bar-styled casual restaurants. It's in a similar vein as Applebee's, Willy McCoys, and Cowboy Jack's. That's not all bad, it just means it's not a culinary standout. Clives does offer a very extensive menu, as you'll find something for just about everyone. They offer a creamed Cajun butter salmon that is pretty good. The steak bites appetizer is decent, but not a very tender amalgamation of meat. It's a great setup to watch live events with TVs everywhere - almost on scale with Buffalo Wild Wings. The food will get you by, but isn't going to be the most memorable. read more

We have been to Clive's a handful of times. We have always had great service and great food. We went in March and again yesterday, and both times Sarah S was our server. Love her! I will definitely be requesting to sit in her section in the future. Somehow we were just lucky enough to get her twice. I even overheard another table tell her how great of a server she is. Myself and a friend decided to go to Clives after looking up local Fish Fries on line in the Rogers area. We arrived about 5PM, I went in and asked how long of a wait for 2? she asked if we had reservations I said no. She then explained they seat only reservations 1st BUT it would be about a 30-45 minute wait. That I will get a text saying its a one hour and thirty minute wait, we should ignore that. They will text us when the table is ready. I said perfect, we need to drop of some groceries in St Michael we will just return, so we returned at 5:35 we decided to go inside and wait. We went inside and I said we were on standby for a table, she explained were not allowed to wait inside unless we have reservations? I said ok but our table should be ready in a few since its about 45 Minutes THE SAME GIRL that told me 30-45 min then said with a tone "we are not allowed to tell you how long you will wait as we sit ONLY reservations 1st. I said I understood that BUT you told me before ignore the text it would be 30-45 Minutes. So we decided to wait outside, at 6:05PM (over an hour waiting) while in car we called Clives to ask again and explained we are on the wait list, she said "We are not allowed to tell you how long the wait is, we ONLY seat reservations 1st" At this point we left to get food elsewhere, at 7:01 exactly 2 hours I get a text while eating saying our table was ready, if we didnt want the table to text back "9" to be removed from wait list. I of course ignored the text, so lets explain why Clives could be better: 1. Dont lie to clients and tell them it will be 30-45 Minutes and to "ignore the text" 2. Dont tell the clients 30-45 minutes to only be rude to them when we ask an hour into wait. 3. Dont make stupid rules of telling your staff to tell clients "we are not allowed to tell you a wait time" If we had known it would have been a 2 hour wait we would of been able to have dinner somewhere else at 5 rather then wait. Both times I was in the Restaurant there we at least 5 tables open, and more people leaving them going in. It is an Epic fail on Clives part to not seat paying customers, and treat them like would be paying customers. Maybe they are doing so great they dont need the money? We ended up having a great dinner, and in the end I was happy NOT to spend money on poor service and rudeness. read more

I got the mango summer salad it came with house made tequila lime dressing and I added chicken .the dressing had NO flavor at all tasted like water with the consistency of water as well and the grilled chicken looked and tasted like it was boiled both were NASTY !! and with mango being first in the name one would thing you would get more then three tiny pieces of mango !! How can anyone send that out of the kitchen and the server bring it to the customer No PRIDE in your job !!! read more
