Got the recommendation from my son's girlfriend to try out the R Social. We had a party of 5. We had four different meals and an appetizer. We had the Big Shrimpin' which came with 5 shrimp in a Asian wrap and Boom Boom sauce. They were delicious. They have a good list of draft beers and drinks at okay prices. Coworker/friend and I hit up R Social on the way out to an event in St. Michael. Thank goodness St. Michael is lacking restaurant options. Otherwise, we would not have agreed upon this place. I'm familiar with the OG Rogers Main Street (late 80s- early 2000s; Happy Chef, Stevens SuperValue, Thrifty Pharmacy). I'm so happy to see it being revitalized! This place is so popular that even with a parking lot in the rear, it was tricky finding a spot. We walked in the back door and made our way through the back bar area, up some stairs and to the front hostess stand. We didn't have reservations, and it was a 45-minute wait. Somehow, we were lucky enough that 2 spots had just opened at the front bar. The bartenders were great with questions we had regarding beers on tap and the menu. I am a cider girl and love Downeast. Saw it on tap and knew that was the one. My first sip I noticed it had a maple undertone. It's different, but still good. I ordered the Chorizo Beer Cheese Soup. It was a chilly January day and hit the spot. I also ordered the birria poutine because, ummm.... BIRRIA!! Both were delicious. Fun fact: another couple sat down next to us. In the middle of a conversation with my friend, I heard the man ask the bartender what we were eating. He and his wife ordered the exact same thing, and they approved of both items as well. We knew we'd probably have to wait since they do no reservations so we got there a little earlier than our friends and waited about 30 minutes. We got lucky and we're going en a booth instead of a high top on the bar are a for our seat and ordered a few drinks. Their cocktails and beer selection is pretty extensive and the whole party seemed to enjoy their choices. We chose birria nachos and brussel sprouts for appetizers. But he were good sized and each maybe a bit much for 2 but perfect for 4. We got sight of the Bavarian pretzel being delivered to a few tables and it was HUGE! Both the nachos and the brussels sprouts were very good. Tortilla chips stayed crisp and the brussels sprouts were perfectly flavored. On to dinner! Our party opted for the buffalo wings a brisket rice bowl and smoked strip sand which. The wings were the one semi-let down. They weren't as crispy as we would've liked but both the bowls and the sand which we're tasty. One of our party also opted for the peanut butter dessert which was very big and easily shared by a table of four with some leftover. It was super tasty and had an extremely thick cookie crust. Service was friendly but possibly a little overwhelmed as there were some long waits and no offer to refill water or drinks until we were empty and had to grab her. She was trying hard but with so many people and it being new, they might have just not fully figured out the flow for the very busy nights. If you go when busy, just plan on bringing some patience. Parking spots are on the street and across the way in the parking lot but can be hard to find when it gets super busy. Inside seems like there's plenty of seating but on an early Saturday evening it was packed with wait time. It will be interesting to see in the summer if they're able to add some outdoor space anywhere. It was also extremely loud both in the bar in the sitting area. We felt like we had to yell at each other with all the other patrons and TVs going throughout dinner. Overall I would say that this is a nice addition to the Rogers area.
