A nice brisket or burnt ends sandwich is one of my favorite meals and this is the first time I was disappointed eating one. Now, I am from Oklahoma and this is my first attempt at BBQ in Minnesota but if this is what is what I have to look forward to I'm upset. The service was good and the atmosphere inside the building was fun. However the food tasted bad. My brisket sandwich tasted like low quality beef jerky. Our Server, Michelle in Maple Grove made this experience super easy. We had a party of 20. She was very attentive to many needy, loud family members. She did great and we thanked her many times through the night! The Food: the sides were good, the corn bread muffin is soft and always good but the meat needs help. My chicken was tender and juicy but the ribs had to go back in my oven low & slow. The ribs told were a lil tough just like the ribs. The brisket looked very good. The food was almost inedible. I ordered brisket and it was as dry as beef jerky. The macaroni and cheese had a texture of soup! The mashed potatoes had a hard crust as if it was reheated multiple times. The only thing good was the corn bread which I can make from a box at home. I had to drink water to get all the dry food out of my mouth and throat. Tried the rib tips and that was garbage- threw it away after one bite each. Our bill was $60+. We ate enough to not be hungry but threw most of it away. Waste of money. Get your act together famous Dave's- you used to be decent. Probably the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant! The St. Louis-style ribs seemed way under-cooked and were literally gushing grease. After trying to get through two, I couldn't stand any more. The mashed potatoes were full of tough skins and unpleasant texture. (These are the menu items I used to love at Dave's.) The mac & cheese was dry with unpleasant chunks of something throughout. At least the corn muffin was okay. Our waitress, though friendly enough, didn't stop by to check on us at all, even though the place was nearly empty. One of my favorite restaurants since I was a kid, have some good memories here and love a good BBQ . Make sure to sign up for the rewards and come during happy hour or lunch for cheaper prices ($4-$10 per person!) Kinda miss their old aesthetic and music, but still the same great flavor. I love Famous Dave's! Who could not love BBQ? I have been to this one many times and never been disappointed.

I had given up on Famous Dave's years ago. After the original owner of the company sold the business, quality just seemed to go out the window. Many of the locations are run down but I saw this one and thought I'd take a chance. The building is well kept and the interior had all the fun trinkets and pictures I remembered from the past. The service here was very good! The hostess and servers I encountered were all very friendly and helpful! The service was also fast! It did not take long for me to get my food items. I ordered a 3 meat platter with 2 sides to share with my 3 year old son. The pulled pork was good and I added more sauce from the bottles at the table. The chicken strips were a joke. So small and it was mostly breading. I was given 2 spare ribs. (Which you have to pay an extra dollar for!) paying an extra dollar for only 2 ribs is crazy to me! And they don't tell you on the menu it's only going to be 2... the one rib was meaty and very good! The second rib had hardly any meat on it. Total rip off. The sides were good but smaller than I remember. The corn bread muffins are definitely still the star of the show here! Very tasty! Overall, I think I made the right choice leaving famous Dave's in the past. There are many other BBQ joints that serve better portions with a higher quality. read more

First time at this location, and the order was a take out on Father's Day. We ordered wings, baked beans, pork, ribs and deviled eggs. I didn't like the mac and cheese. It was too watery and was definitely rushed when cooked. The deviled egged were good, minus the bacon. The baked beans were ok. My husband enjoyed the wings and cornbread. very sad to hear that the manger Courtney was bribing customers with free food if they could write a 'good' review to cover up all the negative reviews she has. Wouldn't recommend. Firstly, the manger Courtney tends to steal the tips from employees and when you bring it up, she will accuse you of stealing. Half the mangers have referred to the customers as Karen, even if they have a tiny problem or if it was a problem on the workers end. very toxic environment. The food gets everyone sick. a worker ate some on her break and had an actual accident when she came back. it's known to mess you up BAD. if you're still wanting to go to a famous Dave's, I recommend going to a different one not this location. read more

It sucks when you have to write a bad review and someone would say then don't...well..when it happens twice in a short period of time because the first time was a week ago and here we are a week later with issues again! Last week we order food through door dash and scheduled to pick up get there per the time told...our food was given to someone else so they had to remake it...we wait another 15 -20 min, they bring it out...we get home missing food (pretty much my meal). We call they give us a $10 credit. Brings us to tonight a week later because we have a credit and let's give it another whirl. We get there, grab our food, count boxes to make sure we have everyone's food. Get home and missing sides... with my husbands meal (awesome you only get ribs) and as my daughter would say because you expect something that you pay for said it all looked sad. Cheesecurds $10 and this is what you get (picture included) Overall just disappointed, to have it happen twice and at this point in COVID season TO-GO orders should be top of their game right now since a good chunk of people are ordering out. Qualifications: I grew up in the south and spent more than a decade living in Texas as an adult. I have no idea how to make great BBQ, but I've spent a lot of time eating great BBQ and have a fair idea of what makes a great BBQ place. Verdict: This is a mediocre BBQ place. Mediocre doesn't mean that it's bad. Just that it's fine. In the same way that a Jersey Mike's is a fine place to get a sandwich or a Kroger is a fine place to buy groceries. You will like this if: You like fast food BBQ that doesn't dare to impress. You like cafeteria food. You like chain restaurants. You will dislike this if: You are looking for anything that might pass for good BBQ in Texas, Memphis, or Appalachia. Details: #1: Ribs - Probably the best meat on the menu. They are totally adequate and on par with what you might get at a sit down chain restaurant who has a commercial with a song about ribs. #2: Chicken - Yeah. It's that kind of place. The kind where chicken is the second best offering on their menu when it comes to meat. It's not that the chicken is exceptional. It's just good and the rest of the options are average at best. #3: Brisket - It doesn't taste terrible. But it's still pretty offensive. It's very thin and kind of fatty and unremarkable. The Line: This is a fast food BBQ place. There isn't a long wait. The Rest: The sides are actually good. Everything is kind of overpriced compared to Dickey's, which is also fast food BBQ and about the same quality. But they have decent options and they are alright, even if you'll probably never crave one or be thinking about it later. Everyone has personal preferences. My ideal BBQ place is a mix of no frills, old school roadside joint that been updated with innovative sides and some interesting specials. In a perfect world, every BBQ place would have a spicy sausage option and cobbler. This place is the fast food version of BBQ. Which is fine, I guess. Ideally it would be a little cheaper and more in line with Panda Express or Boston Marker or other chains serving a meal. You would never go out your way to eat here, but if you're in the area, want something quick, and aren't craving a burger, then this will do. read more

WHAT HAPPENED TO FAMOUS DAVES???! Great service. Horrible food. So our waitress was great. Attentive and we were there with our tiny baby so she knew we needed to leave fast... Our food came out literally in like 5 minutes... which honestly is kind of concerning. We got their "burnt ends" which tasted more like cubed spam rolled in bbq sauce... the texture was so processed. The brisket which also tasted completely fake and processed. My husband couldn't even stomach eating it. Their bbq chicken was ok. That was the only palatable part of our meal. Their sides were just fine. But honestly I can't believe they are still in business. To top it off we paid an extra DOLLAR for both of those "special" meats to include them in our pick 3 meal. I found plastic in my chopped pork. Pics included Chopped Pork Contacted the store and they offered to refund my meal. Instead of quick communication, they disappeared on email for awhile, then refunded a fraction of the amount they were supposed to refund. The general manager, Scott Nelson, has done an abysmal job at keeping in contact and has now stopped responding. Minnesota was take-out only during this time of COVID and I had some time to kill while my wife was having a procedure done. I want to support local businesses, and I have never been to this Famous Dave's before. (I think I have been to most in the Twin Cities though) I went in and ordered a pulled pork sandwich with steamed broccoli. The lady behind the counter took my order and credit card and asked me to wait in my car and she would bring it out to me. About 5 minutes later she brought out a bag with a box and 3 packets of BBQ sauce and utensils. It was kind of a drag eating in my car, but I opened it up and the sandwich with full of pulled pork and I added a packet of Devil Spit sauce to it. It was juicy and delicious and the bun was perfectly toasted. The broccoli was astounding, it seemed really fresh and kept warm through the take-out process. I love this location! I've been coming to this location for years, it is by far my favorite. The staff are always prompt and friendly. I'm always greeted right away. When dining in, they are always attentive and have great attitudes! Today, I did take out for lunch, they got me in and out within 10 minutes! They have a separate entrance & cashiers for take out which is nice for getting in and out when it's busy. My go to meal is the pulled chicken sandwich with fries (I don't eat pork... or beef). Couple things to note: 1. If you order online, only ONE form of payment is possible for the entire order. This means if you have a gift card from let's say Father's day, that doesn't cover the entire balance, you cannot use it online. 2. If you call to order on the phone, if you don't press to speak to an employee at the store, you will be routed to a call center that takes your order and no in store offers are accepted (i.e. coupons). 3. If you bring this up to employees at the store, managers at the store AND guest relations online, nothing will be done to rectify the situation. So you are stuck with an unused coupon and unused gift card because you didn't follow their unlisted rules. read more

I have been to Famous Dave's quite a few times growing up...but its been a while. I recently stopped into the Maple Grove location. We had a good visit. The bartender was awesome and super nice. I ordered a BBQ pulled chicken sandwich Memphis style and added jalapenos. Memphis style means with coleslaw. The bbq pulled pork flavor was lackluster but the chicken was very tender and the bun soft. I would skip getting Memphis style a small spoon full that they flatten out on top of your chicken for 1.99 and it's not worth the upcharge. It did not add any flavor and I could barely tell it was there. I definitely utilized the devils spit and Wilber's revenge to add flavor to the bbq chicken. Great staff and mediocre food. They do have $3 burger Mondays an d$5 chicken sandwich on Thursday. Might be worth it for a cheap deal! read more

Not impressed lately with this location. Staff is always very friendly, but the food lately has been subpar. The last orders of baby back ribs (pictured) were so charred, literally black, we couldn't even eat them. We asked for naked ribs & they were sauced. They were tough and tasted burned from all the char. Cole slaw didn't taste fresh at all, not even crunchy. Potato salad was fine but not the usual consistency. Corn was ok but tasteless. We added butter & salt at home. Spare ribs have also been subpar as well and very dry. I'm not sure how a restaurant thinks it's ok to serve food like this. It's sad because this used to be one of the best Dave's because they have (or used to have) the largest smoker in the state. Ribs were always tender, juicy and delicious here. Well I order the double meat combo with Rib tips at least a couple times a month. So I know what the order looks. Tkday, the rib tips were pulled to early, leaving them tough. The order was cold, it only took my driver 5 minutes to get it to me. Which meant the stuff was cold going into the box. To add insult to.injury, I received what looked like a half order of rib tips.
