I have been here a few times now and every time the donuts are amazing! Maple bacon donut is my personal favorite. Their custard donut is great too as I do not believe it is overly sweet. The store is very compact so if you come at a busy time in the morning or on the weekend be prepared to line up outside, but they do a good job of keeping the line moving. If you arrive early in the morning - before 7:30am you should still have a full selection of donuts - any later you are risking some flavors of being sold out. I will continue to go here any time I am looking for donuts in the morning! read more

Moon Donuts & Cafe - Maple bacon, chocolate monster, strawberry gummy, cat, chocolate sprinkle, white sprinkle Half Dozen Donuts Mixture - Donuts Near Me - Monticello, Minnesota

Fantastic!!! Best donut shop in Minnesota. The owners are so happy, nice and friendly and the service was beyond excellent. We got two breakfast sandwiches; sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant & the ultimate bagel (sausage, bacon, and ham). Both were excellent. Croissant was buttery and the sandwich was delicious and not greasy. The bagel was also delicious, pillowy and light. To drink we got the BEST fruit tea in the passion fruit flavor. I've been missing these from where I live in California and this was perfect. Second drink was a coconut mocha. Also delicious. Fantastic coffee, no bitterness, and the chocolate coconut flavor was perfect. We went late in the day but they still had a great selection of donuts. We did a box of a half dozen (cream cheese filled, custard filled chocolate long John, maple old fashioned, sugar twist, and two maple bacon long Johns. And the owner was kind enough to give me a bonus fritter. Hands down best donuts in central MN. This is what a donut shop should be. The inside shop is so cute and extremely clean. There are plenty of places to sit if you'd like to enjoy your food or beverage there. 10/10 recommend if you're anywhere near Monticello or wanting a a well worth road trip. Will definitely be back soon!!! read more

My absolute favorite donuts in the area. I also get the raspberry latte and it is to die for. Must visit if in Monticello.

While the donuts here are simply amazing, I can't recommend this place because the menu says half a dozen donuts are $10.50 or $11.50 for a mix and they charge you $13.50. Even with tax that would make no sense because tax doesn't come out to perfectly exact amounts. Be warned, the service seems good, but they overcharge you. If I hadn't had my SO with I would've made a fuss- because that's ridiculous!! I wouldn't recommend. read more

Opens very early so it's a perfect stop before work or event. Seems like an endless variety of donuts and other cafe treats. Service is always friendly and fast even if you're picking 3 dozen. The ultimate breakfast sandwich is a good name, but I might call it O.M.G. - maybe I can have this for lunch. read more

Staff is very kind and helpful. We ordered 4 dozen assorted donuts for a donut board and they knew exactly the type of thing we wanted. Everyone at our event loved them. We do not recommend their breakfast sandwiches, it was soggy bread with sausage egg and cheese. read more

Quick helpful staff ! Great selection of donuts and breakfast sandwiches. All the customers were happy going in and even happier leaving with their purchase. All in a hurry to take that first bite. We couldn't wait so sat in the nice seating area. read more

Best donuts I've ever eaten! So many options to choose from and such cute decorations on donuts. The coffee is delicious too!

Their glazed donuts are light and fluffy. HOWEVER, they could use a lot more glaze. I know Asian versions of desserts and pastries are known for not being too sweet by American taste. Frankiy, when I buy these donuts, I make and add my own extra glaze. read more

Never had a peanut butter and jelly filled donut before but OMG was it amazing! My new favorite

It's Valentine's Day, I ask for the two donuts to be put in a box vs. a bag so the writing of Be Mine doesn't smear for my sweetie, apparently that was way too much, now I have a smeared donut because she smashed it real good for me putting it in the bag. Sorry for asking for so much! Thanks Keep up the good work lol read more

Good donuts but you pay for them.. You could probably get cheaper ones at the store...

Fantastic donuts, great coffee, and a fresh and delicious breakfast sandwich. What an amazing spot, and right off the interstate!

The baked goods are to the moon - off the charts! Fresh, light and sweet donuts, a delight to behold. And big, tasty breakfast sandwiches too! However, the coffee could use some love. They lost a star because it tastes stale and like it's straight out of a can. Every one of the three times I've tried it. Give your coffee luv, please Mr. Moon?! read more

Have been here twice and so far these donuts have been the best donuts on the NW side of the outer edge of the Twin Cities. My husband told me a lady from work brought them in and that they were really good so we had to go there. Have only been to the Monticello store, there is a store in Buffalo as well. I like that this is a privately and locally owned business. They are open 7 days/week. Get there early for better selection. About the donuts: Blown away by their Peanut Btr /Jelly-filled, the Apple-filled donuts, their Maple-Bacon long John, and the Fruity Pebbles donuts... so incredibly good! What makes them so good is the donut dough... their raised donuts are so soft and fluffy, not greasy, quite exceptional. However, we're not fans of the Apple fritters but in talking w/owner it sounds like they are a bit tricky to make. I hope they keep trying! We've also tried the breakfast sandwiches, the ultimate burrito was quite delicious. Had ham/bacon/sausage, eggs, cheese and hash browns- yum! Didn't even need the salsa. They also have smoothies but we didn't try any. We brought extra donuts home. Usually it's best to eat same day, but we wanted to try an overnight challenge (if they can stick around that long!) Generally day old donuts taste stale with increased flavors of cold grease and soggy dough, if filled, or frosting/ glaze that doesn't hold up to the next day. After having 2 filled donuts and a long john on the counter (under cover with some airflow), the donuts were just as good as the previous day. No sogginess or greasy taste, frosting was just as fresh as the day before! Impressive. Highly recommend this place. Just what the NW side of the outer twin cities needs to raise the bar on donuts in this region! read more

My husband and I love moon Café. I donuts and rolls are fresh and so very good I would recommend it 100%. Too bad they're closed on Mondays

One recent late morning I was in the area and was looking for a bite to eat before getting back on the interstate to points west. I went past it in search of another place, but in the end decided to check this place out. You walk in and I felt like I was back in Chicago as the place seems similar to many bakery/cafes there. After parousing the menu I decided on a breakfast sandwich and one of their pastries that was long with cream in the middle....along with coffee. Shortly after being seated they brought my order out. The sandwich was pretty good and was full of breakfast meats, eggs, and cheese (on an English Muffin) but the pastry was excellent. The coffee was rather tasty as well. I can't say I'll be in the area soon but if I am, I'll be sure to go back there! read more

Great donuts with a large variety to choose from. Glazed donuts were fried perfectly without a funky aftertaste. Will be back!

We went opening day and left a new business review, but for some reason Yelp combined it with the place in Buffalo. SO...I'm trying this again. Opening day was quite busy. We went in around 11 (you can tell from the 1/2 empty case, lol). Donuts are fresh and quite tasty. Loved the maple bacon. Thay also had cakes and cookies to chose from. They also offer breakfast and lunch options. I tried the pulled pork. It was just ok, so I'd stick with the bakery items. We are thrilled to have this local family-owned business. Cute little sitting area with fireplace and several small tables to sit at. read more

Good luck choosing which donut you'd like! Loads of options, many unique, always fresh, plus a variety of breakfast and coffee options, all for a very reasonable price. I don't often go to bakeries, but this one is worth repeating a visit. Besides, who doesn't want a maple-bacon donut again and again? Maybe the only problem you may face here is the longer wait due to avid visitors...but then that says something about the place by itself. read more
